zoejeanne · 13/05/2009 08:44

Good morning. jump I dreamt about you last night, I dreamt that when I go back to work you were going to be DD's childminder and had got a double buggy ready for both your DD and mine. You even travelled up to Yorkshire everyday to do this - you really are superjump!

daisydora · 13/05/2009 08:50

Morning everyone,

Well DS slept quite well last night after his vomming incident. He was unsettled between 1am and 3am but then slept till 6ish. His cheeks are really, really red and V V hot this morning, but no temp. Could it be teeth? Would it have made him so sick?

jump I do hope things calm down for you when the tooth finally pops through.

waitinggirl · 13/05/2009 09:32

ah, the blissful days of one wake for feeding a night are now well and truly gone. she woke 3 times last night. i know, that is great for some, but has thrown us enormously. the wakings are so erratic, that is the main problem - first waking at 10.30 last night. this from the girl who wd wake for the first time at 4am a while ago. bit of a shock.

can ppl pls do a n london sun dance for tomorrow?

tillyfernackerpants · 13/05/2009 09:33

daisy glad ds had a good night in spite of the vomiting.

zj thanks for eye sympathies. It doesn't seem to be bothering him too much, unlike the eye drops we have to put in!

jolly hi!

jump & trace how were your nights?

MomOrMum · 13/05/2009 09:47

WG - I am going through the exact same. From one waking at 4 am to three wakings or more. Total shock to the system. I think that is why I keep getting insomnia...body gets used to one waking, then can't figure out why it is up 3 times/night! I just feed every time - can't be bothered to be more creative in the middle of the night. If it makes you feel any better we had a long patch of one waking early on, then about 5 weeks of multiple wakings, then back to one waking for a couple of weeks, now back to multiple. My point being...the single wakings do seem to return at some point and I did nothing to actively bring them back.

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 10:19

WG I do sympathize this is exactly what ds1 was like. All I can say is do whatever gets you through the night we did with DS1 and he is a well adjusted (well by our loose standards) 3 year old who sleeps in his own bed and goes off to sleep by himself. It does all end one day. I know that doesn't get you much sleep now but may help you feel ok about how you get her to sleep.

Syb how is Poxville?

Daisy DS1 used to vomit a bit when early teething cos he used to swallow all the extra saliva. So was kinda extra full when he had a feed. DS2 is vomiting a bit extra too a the moment. Not projectile though.

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 10:39

Has anyone got a Sony erricsson c902 or W595. Virgin will give us a good deal on a mobile because we have all the phone broadband and TV with them but I don't know what to get. My biggest thing is a good camera because I use my phone for lots of pics of the boys and the 902 is better but it also has lots of other weird things on it which I don't think I'll use much so make it's deal more expensive. The W595 has an adequate camera but no autofocus or flash but all it's reviews are really good. I've gone with Sony erricsson because it's what I have now so I'm used to them. There is a Nokia 6220 classic which has lots of features but many people have said the handset itself is a bit plasticy and not good if you text a lot because the keys are a bit crap. Any recommendations ideas?

daisydora · 13/05/2009 14:24

Bloody raining here now....where's our summer?? DS WILL NOT sleep in his cot for more than 30 mins, but I can't put his pram outside in the rain (or could I??). Looks like I'll have to go for a drive but don't want to risk sending DD to sleep as well, or she will be up till all hours!!!

modernlove · 13/05/2009 14:27

Good afternoon Ladies.
Sorry Veggie - no idea re phones - my phone is v old and definitely due an upgrade! I would be quite keen to get one with a camera also so I don't have to carry my actual camera around with me everywhere!
Also - I went to Whipsnade a few years ago and it was brilliant. I'm trying to judge when DS will be interested enough for me to take him to our local zoo. I always enjoy going but would likehim to enjoy it too.

We've had a busy week and have just been swimming so DS is exhausted and I've managed to have a bath and some lunch while he has been snoozing. Thankfully he is back to waking only once at night again - although last night at 0330 he did not want to go abck to sleep again and ended up asleep on my chest (which was quite sweet but I couldn't sleep very well like that).

The postnatal group came over to my house yesterday for cake and tea. One of them brought her other three children who are approx 3,4 and 5years old. I didn't mind this but did mind them jumping all over the sofas and was trying to v cheerfully say 'shoes off on the couch please' (esp as one of them had chewing gum on the bottom of shoe). I stayed calm though but they had arrived alightly early and the place looked like a bombsite when the others arrived (if they come again I may not offer biscuits - they ended up everywhere). Luckily they stayed away from the piano - I may not have kept so calm then - it was a wedding present.
I suppose kids running round may be something I have to get used to in the future once DS gets bigger!

Verso - welcome back. I hope things have been ok with you.

Lal - what a relief.
Trace - I hope the mastitis clears up soon with the antibiotics and you start to feel better again.
Kayz - am very impressed with the cake making - you should post a pic so we can ssee it.
LadyT - hope you are having a good week and managing to get some work done.
Effie - thanks for the askmoxie - was good to read.
Jam - love your fb photos of DS2 'just hanging around'. Was wondering about getting one of those bouncers - where was it from?

DS has rolled over again - but I missed it again! Next time he has nappy free time I shall not leave his side so I don't miss it again!

Time now for a quick cuppa and the remains of yesterdays carrot cake before he wakes up. Hope everyone having a lovely day.

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 15:17

It's ok if the rain cover is on and enough blankets on Daisy.

tillyfernackerpants · 13/05/2009 15:26

Veggie, sorry no help on the phones. I am a fan of Nokias but haven't had the one you mentioned!

Modernlove, I'm afraid yes you do have to get used to boys running around . But having said that, I do think their mum should've said something too! Ds1 is well aware of how he's supposed to behave when we visit friends & he's 3. Key word there is supposed, he doesn't always but then I will tell him!

Will remove judgey pants now

daisy hope ds manages a nap.

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 15:37

Modern I used to take ds1 to art galleries, I know he didn't take much in but I figured it was at the very least stimulating. So if it is something you want to do anyway I say go to the zoo now with him.

I know what you mean about the missing rolling I think I've only seen 50% of ds2's rolls.

waitinggirl · 13/05/2009 16:12

just been to a lovely yoga session - first in ages, really enjoyed it.

n london meet up - anyone wanting to come, i've posted some random directions on the meet up thread. if anyone's not going to come, can they let me know, pls? otherwise see you tomorrow at 1.30pm.

mom nad veggie - thx for info re: sleeping. glad to know we're not the only ones with erratic patterns.

SummerLightning · 13/05/2009 19:22

Hi all,
Scared to see that you have managed 160 posts on the new thread that I have not even posted on yet! No chance of keeping up!

Firstly lal glad to hear your results, what a relief.
Pingu nice to hear from you!
kayz v excited to hear about your bike! Should be good for the weight loss as well. Let us know when you get it
LadyT sorry to hear about the stress of your late DH's estate. I hope it's sorted soon.
jj sorry to hear that S is still being a pain in the bum. And ANOTHER tooth! Yikes
trace hope the mastitis clears up soon, and phew that the docs appointment is over!
Sybil I hope the pox retreats soon.
wg must be a Christmas day baby thing as DS is also waking more. Though we had a once a night at 4am again last night, wahoo.
I concur with the just feed 'em theory. I tried the "let him cry I don't think he's hungry", and he grumbled/cried for 15 mins, went up to a crescendo to which I thought, "OK that's proper angry crying, maybe he is hungry", then he properly shut up before I could get to him.
This was at 1:30, I then couldn't sleep, and spent until 5:45 awake worrying that I should have fed him, and about his sleeping, and expecting him to wake up. I was very tired teh next day and it was all my own fault as on paper it had been a good night.
Oh and also sorry a bit slow on the uptake re N London meet up and am away cycling on the weekend and have masses to pack and sort out so won't make it, but if there is another I will be up for it!
Oh I can't keep up or think what I want to say....hmmm...

DS just learnt to blow raspberries today. He seems obsessed with his new skill. I found it cute for the first 5 mins!
Still no rolling, he's trying though, but he gets stuck on his side.

EffiePerine · 13/05/2009 19:40

SL, DS2 is trying to rolla s well, he grabs his feet and lurches over then sticks! He's also started grinning and people and babbling away, I thought we had a grumpy silent baby but he seems to be a bit happier with the world now.

Had to take DS1 to A&E this morning, he got a thorn stuck in his foot yesterday and it was still painful this morning, so we trotted off first thing. They were very nice and tried fishing for splinters, but nothing came out so we have special dressings and need to go back in a couple of days if no better. He got a v loud fire engine from Asda out of it so is feeling pretty pleased with himself. It means reduced exercise for a few days

bugger DS2 just woken up...

traceface · 13/05/2009 20:07

Hi Girls,

Effie - hope ds1's foot is soon better.
Veggie - I know nothing about any phones, cameras or most other technology . It is somewhat of a wonder that I ever found MN!

last night was as wakeful as ever - fed every 1-2 hours, but she settled in her cot in between so I didn't have her sleeping in my arms, so that's much better. Have tried to feed her up today by offering boob every 2 hours in the hope that she'll be tanked up and go longer tonight. I think all I've succeeded in doing is making her quite sick today! She's still quite off it with her cold so I shouldn't expect too much.
My pregga friend came over today - baby due next week! I'm so excited for her . we were at school together and it's her first - she was drinking lots of raspberry leaf tea

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 20:08

SL your DS has gone straight past rolling and onto raspberries, clearly a superior skill.

Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 20:19

How's the boob Trace.

Modern I meant to sat earlier when there are several kids in your house esp babies who could be trodden on I think you are well within your rights to say something about the kids not jumping on the couch. We are quite casual with our own furniture but DS knows that at other houses and on public furniture (train seats etc) knees are allowed but no feet! It's a rule I have and def no jumping. Also a big one I have at our house and at other houses is shoes off when we walk in the door. I know some people are precious about their furniture, I think this should be respected whether you are precious about your own or not.

I went for the C902 in the end dh got a great deal, it arrives tomorrow. I've had my current phone for ages so I figured seeing as I keep phones forever I need one which won't date too easily and will last. It has 3G so I will be mobile with MN now which could be dangerous.

modernlove · 13/05/2009 20:46

Veggie - I have that rule about shoes off in other peoples houses also. The other mums were watching their babies closely (as they did when we were at this ladies house).
Good idea about going to museums.

notjustanumber · 13/05/2009 20:59

Modern, veg, shoes in the house is a pet hate of mine. Especially when people go upstairs with them on.

But worse is people that dont clear up dog poo on the pavement. Three times recently I've driven the buggy though it (dont look where I'm going). And one really priceless time when the poo was right in front of the gate to the playground. I hate that.

WG and north London meetup Sorry I cant make this now, see the other thread. Can I come to the next one? Or a Mini one in Cambridge ?

Lal I'm really glad you are OK...

How does everyone else cope with two litte ones ? The days when I have the both of them I am seriously knackered by this time of day...

Talking of which, was it arti that had the pregnancy scare ? Are you OK ?

WG I wont get to meet you tomorrow - are you OK - you sounded a bit sad when you were last on...

modernlove · 13/05/2009 21:11

njan - I hate dog poo on the pavement and am constantly on the look out when pushing the pram! How horrible for it to be in front of the playground gate.

LadyThompson · 13/05/2009 21:55

Hello everybody!

Not watching The Apprentice until later or mayeb even tomorrow as DP is doing prep and I am showing a bit of solidarity...

Modern, I wouldn't like kids in shoes leaping over my sofa and it's a crap sofa. I hate disrespect for other people's possessions, even in kids. I suspect I am in for a rude awakening when DD is a toddler, but then I always was an optimistic sort.

Effie, a lame child with a loud fire engine sounds like a recipe for mayhem. I hope for both your sakes he feels better tomorrow!

Veggie, I've got a Samsung SGH-U900v. It looks snazzy but isn't, much like every other phone I've ever had. My old one was the very bling Dolce e Gabbana Razr.

Someone once asked me in a meeting why I'd got a pimp's phone Anyhoo, am getting a Blackberry for July when I start work again (from home you will remember) so I can send emails from the Cotswold Wildlife Park more easily.

Summer, no rolling with my DD either. No teeth (Jolly, your babe definitely wins the Golden Gums award for Gleaming Gnashers) and no sitting up. She also has a rectangle of hair missing at the back where it has rubbed off. It looks like it's been shaved, the poor child.

Happy Anniversary for tomorrow, NJAN! I haven't even KNOWN DP two years yet. That milestone is 31 May...

Well, looks like the house is going to fall through. The vendor has been uncooperative about getting quotes for the work that needs to be done and I ain't forgetting about all the things that came up on the survey - but she has now said that unless we exchange on Friday it's all off. It is disappointing but I am not going to be bullied by anybody. And I suppose it takes the pressure off re: the uncertainty of whether I have to pay money back to the Inland Revenue re: my DH's estate

Missed people, but sorry chaps, my eyes are sore. I have been doing more work than usual...Wishing you all good nights, and may the sun shine on your ice creams in Finsbury Pk tomorrow

notjustanumber · 13/05/2009 22:10

Thanks LadyT, it is 14 years since our first date at the end of the month (well, first meal, first film, and then first visit to the docs for emergency contraception - was a busy weekend ) I kind of envy you being in the interesting first few years of a relationship, getting to know someone...

Sorry to hear about your house falling through but good for you to not succumb to what is effectively blackmail

BTW, DS2 is not rolling or sitting and has no teeth. His is very smiley though, though the person he smiles and laughs for most is his brother. Sweet.

waitinggirl · 13/05/2009 22:39

ladyt sorry to hear about the house - but as you say, don't be bullied by anyone. why is buying a house an excuse for people to be such shits to each other? it is such a brutal process.

njan - sorry you can't make it, but what a wonderful reason why - enjoy your anniversary. thanks for asking - am feeling better. confidence is returning, but i am getting a bit tired by the grinding reality which is having a baby.

by the way - my hv said that it is almost impossible that dd will take a bottle now she is 4.5 months and has never had one (well we tried once, i cried, she cried, and we haven't tried again). my dh has 3 nights of radio recordings next month and i would really like to go - i am feeling a bit trapped that i am the only one who can feed her and also the only one who can get her to go to sleep (and now she is waking more erratically (did i spell that right? have no idea), hte boob is even more important), so am feeling a little worried about the prospect of leaving her.

i feel slightly taken in by the bf brigade - why did no one tell me to get her used to a bottle earlier on if i ever wanted a night away? breast is best and all that malarkey, but i didn't realise that getting a baby to take a bottle was so tricky if you waited this long. wish someone had told me. or that i had listened more. oh well... in the end i think i am just lazy and bf is so much easier than expressing and bottle feeding.

i'd also like to say that i love reading people's posts, but sometimes i just don't have anything to say, so i just lurk.

lal - so glad to hear
arti - news on the pregnancy scare?

am thinking of doing a smash and grab on westfield next week in the evening. it is open until 10, so i could feed madam, get her to sleep and whizz over in the car to BUY MYSELF SOME CLOTHES TO MAKE MYSELF FEEL LIKE A PROPER HUMAN BEING for once. but even then i worry about how dh would get her to go to sleep should she wake. maybe i should stop being such a control freak and realise that a bit of crying on her part won't break her and that dh will cope. gulp.

OP posts:
Veggiemummy · 13/05/2009 22:42

I also hate the dog poo thing, poor DS1 is constantly walking in it, riding or scooting through it. There is a man who walks his dog around here and let's it squat outside peoples doors to wee! I always watch out if I come home to a puddle outside our front door.

Sorry about the house Lady but might be a good thing in the end as you might find something with a garden.

NJAN I did giggle at your first night anniversary story...cheeky.

Right I'm off to bed now night night.
