Ok so it's my first visit on here for ooh about 3 months. I've had a madly quick scan of what you're all up to - so big waves and hellos to you all.

Owen is:
(a) still not sleeping through the night - the best he's ever done (twice in 7.5 months) is 7.30pm - 4.30am, which was a minor miracle, and we're not really expecting more at this stage. for all of you doing any better. I'm just pleased to be sharing a bed with DH again after all this months of splitting nights...
(b) not really sitting up - are yours?
(c) theoretically interested in crawling but as he's unable to, getting to where he wants to get to by rolling in every direction until he eventually gets next to sharp knife/edge of deep abyss/the toy that DS1 really doesn't want to share.
(d) totally gorgeous. Anyone else up for another baby?!

Really sorry that I don't get on here more often - my loss I know but the odd couple of times I've had a moment I've had real problems accessing the site . Things less mad here generally so will try to do better.

Good nights to all in the meantime...

Hello everyone,

I have a very important question. Should I buy some In the Night Garden DVDs for DS while we are back in the UK in May.

What age will he start to want to watch them? Will it fry his brain?

TwilightSurfer · 16/04/2009 00:24

Longway until now I've never heard of the show BUT with internet there is the ability to learn. The target audience for the show is age 1-4. It looks a bit freaky to me but so do almost all the kiddie shows these days. I'd say STOCK UP! However I will give you this note from experience: the shows you stock up on are the shows they won't watch for long. I have a dozen animal wildlife type videos that went UNTOUCHED. I thought she'd love them....I was wrong. So we went the BLVW (baby led video watching) route after that. So Elmo, Angelina Ballerina, Blues Clues were her primary videos then she graduated into the Barbie series. She's stuck there at the moment. I've a pretty good bit of money invested in Barbie videos now. Reese will probably hate them. LOL!!!

on another very important note:
dh had to take the "which celeb would you marry?" test too. (HIS IDEA) his celeb wife would be Cameron Diaz (i thought it would be Carmen Electra...shows how well i know my dh huh).

OP posts:
Expectant · 16/04/2009 05:38

TS on the which celeb mum are you? I got Angelina and my which celeb I should marry I got Brad so thinking I must have the perfect match!

Oops good news on weight gain. We're going on Saturday and I'm already dreading it.

Steaky I also get random questions from DH - usually does his nappy need changing? Is he completely incapable of checking himself or something?! Now he's on solids if he's done a poo you definitely know about it and a quick feel of the front can tell if it's very wet or not.

We were also thinking of trying cc when we get back from England (don't all shout at once). DS is being a real monkey at night. If he wakes he doesn't generally want to feed he just wants a cuddle then goes back to sleep in my arms but as soon as his head touches the matress he stands up and starts crying again. He's even on occasion waited till I've left the room before starting to cry. I know this parenting lark is all new to me but I really didn't realise that they could be so manipulative from such an early age! SIL said I'd never manage to do cc and that was why at 15 months Dnephew still sleeps with them most nights.

Morning All

No breakfast here - i'm off for a blood test and I'm not allowed to eat for 12 hours before and the earliest they could fit me in was 10.30am, so it's everyone fend for themselves in this household.

It's cold and looks rainy this morning so may have to drop MIL off in a cafe with DD this morning before the gym as I can't picture them feeding the ducks in the rain.

TS How's Reese?

Hi Stillhere, LWFH and Expectant

See you all later....

cyteen · 16/04/2009 08:54

Hi stillhere, good to see you're, um, still here! Joe is sitting brilliantly but hardly rolling, which just goes to show how different they all are. Also feeling the baby love in a big way at the moment (but managing to retain my sensible head which is saying NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO).

morning ladies

oops good news on that weight gain, it's heartening to know blw does produce good weight gain, sometimes it seems as if ds is not actually swallowing anything. Hope you enjoy your workout

sibh we've had about 5 nights of 1-2 hourly waking, I also think it's teeth. Very debilitating though. Our Easter diy did not happen

sazzles hope your night went ok, like the idea of manful baby settling, sounds so much more purposeful

ts poor Reece - hope she's improved a bit today

very of this holiday chat. We're supposed to being going to France in May but I just found out our neighbours hate cats and was hoping they'd feed her while we were away

yesterday my dnewphew made ds laugh - proper chuckling and belly laughs. I videoed it for dp as he's not done this before, was really lovely to hear and see

Hehe, tbh Sazz I'd like the chance to get in a bit of practice first, iyswim. Life isn't making things easy for us to get it together at the moment!

Can't believe we're moving house again next month Am so tired of it all. Please let the next place be one we can stay in!

sambo303 · 16/04/2009 09:08

x post sazzles goodness that night does sounds bad. Hope you have nothing too taxing planned today.

cyteen I told dp I thoughy my period would arrive soon and he said oh time to get pg again (was I really that bad?) - we're not btw as we cant afford it

oh yes, and dp's constant theme during early morning arguments discussions is 'we are not having another one, I'll never get any sleep'

Sazz it's another place owned by DP's boss so we can stay as long as we like - it's us and our never-satisfied issues that drive the constant house moves We really can't stay in our current place though: it's in completely the wrong area, the layout isn't very baby-friendly and it's FREEZING in the winter.

The new place is back in an area we like and where most of our friends are, also the layout is much better (no doorless attic room - a must for any newly mobile baby - and kitchen opens onto living room so I can get things done while keeping an eye on Joe - at the moment I have to leave him in his play nest in front of the telly while rushing back and forth to the kitchen, not ideal).

LoveBuckets · 16/04/2009 09:34

MOrning, we also had some screaming last night, think there might have been something cutting through but haven't looked yet today.

Longway Anything made by CBeebies is guaranteed quality so you're allowed. Another great show is Pocoyo, has the Stephen Fry mark of quality and is hilarious for adults too. It's the only thing that used to make my DS1 laugh at this age when he was so emotionally flat - anything that breaks through an autism barrier can only be good.

Pub lunc with NCT ladies and babies today, plus my big two and their clodhoppers to frighten all the first timers.

It has been snowing here this morning. [brrr emoticon]

Baby and I just having soup and toast. Baby loves toast, not sure how she felt about my rather garlicky pumpkin, tomoato and coconut milk soup though. I loved it.

We were heading towards a good night last nigt, she slept from 7.30 till 1.30 then from 2 till 4. I thought she had gone back to sleep but nope, and then wouldn't settle despite being asleep in my arms. So into our bed at 5.15 but with a grumpy DH so up at 6.
I did managed to get her to snooze in her sling for 20 mins of course she woke just as I was nodding off. So I've been up for a good 6 hours now.

Already been out for a walk in the rain/hail/sleet to try to get a nap in, which worked a bit but I was too tired and wet to keep going so came home before my hoped for hour of nap was up. Ah well.

She seems happy enough. She loves staring at the cat. Poor moggy is doomed once Izzy learns to crawl.

Cyteen & TS I have a glasses grabber too.

sibh - hello

cyteen · 16/04/2009 09:45

Is it bad that I really like ITNG? DP and I often discuss how cleverly made it is.
