I'm sorry - I couldn't last out. Welcome to the new thread.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cazzybabs · 01/10/2009 22:39

righty-ho dh is indeed home...he seems like dh with a beard and messy hair ! He is sleeping a lot but no major changes in personaility as yet. He sometimes get words a little muddled, still is easily confused by date and time and is tired. However he finds walking hard - he is much better than yesterday and is managing the stairs with gay abandon - cue muchos panicking from me...reading and numeracy still hard, but he did go on facebook eariler on (I think he was disapointed he didn't get more messages - where as I had thousands (well a few anyway)

so progress is good...and i am glad to have him home...

it could have been so so so much worse

suey2 · 02/10/2009 07:51

fantastic cazzy! brilliant news.

Ambi · 02/10/2009 08:15

Cazzy, you must be so happy to have him home.

Doctorskidaddle · 02/10/2009 11:05

great news cazzy sounds like he will be back to exactly how he was in no time. Must be lovely to have him back home where he belongs.

well news from me - just had my 20 week scan and I'm having a .....BOY! Musy admit DH and I were slightly disappointed. I know that is awful but we really wanted DS to have a special status as a middle child - but we will just have to make sure we don't make him feel neglected. Two boys.... eek, my house is going to be a wreck

BouncingTurtle · 02/10/2009 13:44

Ah sounds very promising Cazzy - I hope your DH's recovery continues apace!

Skid - oh wow fab! Have you thought of any names?

spiralqueen · 02/10/2009 14:01

Cazzy so pleased to hear DH is back home, you must be relieved. Take care of him and of yourself too.

Skid guess it was always a 50/50 chance . How do you think DD will take the news?

DrSkidaddle · 02/10/2009 14:08

BT - I like Noah and Gabriel. DH likes Killian and Dara - keen to get his Irish heritage in there. Although I love the idea of him having an Irish name, I don't actually like any Irish names that much - am bracing myself for four months of rowing about it!

SQ - I reckon DD will be OK with it - telling her this evening. She will love lording it over two little boys, that much is for sure . I was a bit worried about DS as he is such a mummy's boy but he will have a little playmate to fight over play with his trains with - hopefully they will be best of friends

DrSkidaddle · 02/10/2009 14:09

BTW have just realised that I have been spelling skedaddle wrong all these months - why did no-one tell me?! Get me to the pedant corner for a flogging!

claraquack · 02/10/2009 16:28

DrSkid, I always thought you were just choosing your own version to be original (not - I had no idea it wasn't spelled like that!).

Congrats on having another boy - I am sure if he is healthy and happy you won't mind what the sex is. Not sure about your dh's choice of names though - surely Dara is a girls name???? Noah is my favourite of yours, although brace yourself for hundreds of Noah's Arks as gifts when he is born if you do chose it....(everyone will be desperate to think of gifts as he is your third and you already have another boy).

Cazzy - great news about your dh, you must be so relieved. I am sure he'll be back to normal in no time.

I have just been horseriding for the first time in about 20 years. They put me on the biggest horse I have ever seen, it used to be a race horse in Barbados apparently....well, when we got to the beach the bloody thing took off at a gallop, overtook my friend who was going at quite a steady pace herself and just about came to a grinding halt three millimetres away from the bushes. I was shi**ing bricks......but it was hugely exhilarating as well!

BouncingTurtle · 02/10/2009 17:51

Skid - I didn't notice so I'd better join you lol!

Claraq - I'm guess you don't watch Mock the Week? The host is an Irish comedian called Dara O'Brain. So yep it's a boys name!

The horse riding sounded fun but scary - glad you enjoyed it! And it least you didn't fall off!!

Ambi · 02/10/2009 18:36

I've trying to lose some 10lbs by the end of October and been for a run/jog for the first time ever today. Oh I'm so unfit, I managed a couple of mins before my lungs felt like they were on fire. Still going again tomorrow though, I can't be this unfit.

Have a good weekend everyone. Whilst I'm here subjected to in the night garden for the 3rd time today.

claireybee · 02/10/2009 20:00

All sounds like good news cazzy, you must feel so much better just being able to see him for yourself.

2 boys Skid, hopefully ds2 will be as chilled out as Milo. As for names you can't use Killian because I am sure you considered it for Milo, and don't use Gabriel if easily annoyed-my H is Gabriel and EVERYONE says Gabrielle the ignorant twunts. I love Noah

Can understand the disappointment, my imaginary third child is a girl (actually sometimes it is twin girls )

DrSkidaddle · 02/10/2009 21:33

yeah I love Noah too clairey but DH is not having it. It was an ex's name but I don't think he cares about that - think it is just too 'normal' for him - don't forget this is the man who makes suggestions such as 'Reef' (as in coral - no, I know it's not a name), 'Mowgli' (yes fom the jungle book) and other suchlike monstrosities! Killian and Dara are among his better suggestions... (Dara can be for a girl or boy btw clara)

clara - eek your horse riding sounds terrifying! Glad you enjoyed it though

claireybee · 02/10/2009 21:41

I seem to remember quite liking one of your dh's wackier suggestions last time...it may have been the hormones though

suey2 · 03/10/2009 18:20

Hey skid, I just thought you were into skiing or something! Anyway, skids a much better shortening than sked.
My dh sounds like the opposite of yours: we are only allowed traditinal English names: last time William and henry were top of the list. Dullsville. My brother, however, has suggested that since we conceived the weekend England won the ashes, we need to honour one of them!

DrSkidaddle · 03/10/2009 23:23

do you have a shortlist then suey? Fraid I am too ignorant about cricket to even guess! DH has said tonight that he might consider Sam which I am not completly wild about but at least it's a nice normal name which won't become the bane of DS2's life!

How are you feeling btw? Has the MS started yet? How many weeks are you now?

clairey - really??? I cannot imagine which of his wierd names you might have liked - will have to tell him. He will be delighted that someone in the world doesn't sneer at his every suggestion!

claraquack · 04/10/2009 00:05

ha ha skid, your dh's wierd suggestions are all coming back to me, that was when I started thinking we were married to the same name!

suey - I actually like traditional names for boys, and william was top of our list. But the trouble is, there are hundreds of them. Have you any thoughts on other names or is it too early?

buzzybee · 04/10/2009 08:36

DrSkid, according to my Baby Name Wizard book people who like Milo also like Emmett, Moses, Theo, Arlo and Casper. A number of people I know recently have given their boys gaelic names - Calum, Caleb and Finlay being the 3 that immediately spring to mind.

Cazzy, good news re DH, hope he continues to improve steadily

No real movement on my front. Ex-H has so far refused to even meet me to discuss arrangements for DD, so not exactly promising that we'll reach a sensible compromise. What annoys the out of me is that he mostly seems worried about how much $$$ I might try and squeeze out of him (as if I'll be in a position to enforce it anyway from the other side of the world!) rather than DD's best interests.

claireybee · 04/10/2009 13:16

I can't quite remember what the name was though Skid...

Didn't mxedmama or someone consider Sami last time? How do you feel about that? Just think it goes better with your other dc's names than just Sam.

Now who was it that had Atticus on their list? Someone has to use it because I love it

On the subject of names ds has started calling dd Kenna-if you had ever told me I would have children named Ken and Doug I would never have believed you!

suey2 · 04/10/2009 16:00

Oo no, no shortlist yet: just because we haven't got around to it. No reason to be overly worried, I had an early scan Friday and my wee pinto bean was doing what he should.

Buzzy at your x. Anyone wiuldthink it as your decision!

Arcadie · 05/10/2009 14:10

Skid I love Killian as a name but it's an INSTANT veto from DH. Weird is acceptable but only biblical weird!!! Isn't the Irish spelling Cillian like the actor on 28 days later?

Buzzy Between this thread and my antenatal one it seems like everyone's DH / DP /XH / XP have gone stark staring bonkers.... what is it with men at the moment!? (RKD mostly v happy with hers but even he has odd moments!)

Clara horseriding!? Blimey you're game woman....

OP posts:
DrSkidaddle · 05/10/2009 17:42

ooh thanks buzzy - quite like Theo (my grandfather's name) but I know DH won't go for it.

Can't believe your ex - what the f*ck he won't meet to discuss it???!! His own DD and he's acting like a child - you are a saint woman - think I would have throttled him by now.

clairey - not mad about names like Sami and Hari which sound English-speaking but aren't actually when you see them written down - think that might be the problem I have with Irish names - like the sound of lots of them but then actually get quite annoyed when I see the spelling. Like Tadgh which is pronounced like the first syllable of Tiger - sounds lovely but the problems that poor boy would have having to spell his name constantly (fine in Ireland of course) - wonder if the reason it annoys me is that my research is on reading development and dyslexia

BTW I wanted to call my son Atticus from the ages of 12-18ish. Then I went onto Holden (Caulfield -catcher in the rye). Then I married my DH (sigh)

buzzybee · 06/10/2009 04:03

DrSkid at Atticus! In my part of the world Holden is a car...
Baby Name Wizard says those who like Atticus will like Phinaes, Alistair, Lincoln, Augustus and Galen!! Apparently he will also have a sister called Beatrix - my DD!!

scaryclaireyboo · 06/10/2009 15:46

Skid my friend's boyfriend is Tio so more unusual than Theo for your dh. Could be considered chavvy though maybe...the one I know is really posh so it isn't to me.

I have the same problem with sami etc btw, would rather go all out wierd/unusual than normal but spelt differently (I know those are still authentic spellings not like kevvvyyyinn etc but still)

Buzzy hope exh stops being an arse soon

scaryclaireyboo · 07/10/2009 09:54

Ignore that-even if you did like it, with your surname it would sound like you'd knocked over a cuppa!

Will leave you to name your own baby now
