Thanks gals!
God my tits are sore. I'd forgotten that: the arrgggghh when you take your bra off. Couldn't be happier to have a symptom, though.

BouncingTurtle · 12/09/2009 09:49

Congratulastions Suey!!

buzzybee · 13/09/2009 12:00

Hi all, congrats Suey, hope its a strong blue line next time!
Sympathies on the night waking SQ. DD occasionally gets into a bad routine at night of waking every hour or so - seems to be no real reason for it. I don't feed her but it still means a pretty sleepless night - sometimes I leave her and hope she self-settles within a few minutes and other times I get up and just go in and talk to her briefly then leave the room again.
Arcadie, how's the croup?
Clairey, that sounds totally yuck. I dread getting tummy bugs, its the worst to try and look after kids at the same time.
Clara - how are you getting on? I saw a holiday-doc thing-y on St Lucia on the plane to Oz, much mountain climbing and rum-drinking
We're back from a week in Queensland which was fab - 6 days of clear blue skies and 24-25 degrees (1 days of cloud). Major excitement was seeing a snake in the "wild" (actually in someone's garden) for the first time! DD1 was pretty scared. We don't have snakes in NZ so we were all a bit freaked.
Arrived home today and DD1 and I both have weird rash under our chins, no idea what could have caused it.
DD2 added a few more words while we were away but apart from "my milk" or "Bea milk" she still has no recognisable sentences, but much babble.

suey2 · 14/09/2009 12:33

digital test - positive! seeing gp tomorrow.
buzzybee that sounds ace. just what the doctor ordered

Arcadie · 14/09/2009 12:59

BUzzy croup all sorted - thanks. Just a bit scary at the time.

Hi everyone, yet another name change I'm afriad - for no reason other than was bored with Ceciliamay!

Congratulations Suey2!! Are you back in London now or still on holiday!

Also COngratulations Kelbel - come and join us on the due in May2010 thread!

Arcadie - did your little one have croup ? My DS had it last weekend, spent all night in the hospital with him on steroids to open up his airways and had ABs for a week. It is awful isnt it. We were told to put him in the bathroom and let all the hot taps run to make a steam room.

Hope you are settling in Clara you have been to so many places since we have known you on the due in/postnatal Dec 07 club!

Doctorskidaddle · 14/09/2009 17:35

suey!!! great news - hope all goes well at the GP

clairey - unlike your DD my DD clung to my leg and sobbed when I dropped her at pre-school . I'm sure she'll be fine in a few days but I feel so guilty . Sorry to hear everyone is ill - my DH is also a man flu specialist...

cazzy - glad all went well going back

awen - hello didn't notice any flouncing either!

DS is lovely atm - all smiles and cheekiness and I THINK he can now say I love you although I may be imagining it....

claraquack · 15/09/2009 15:18

Hi everyone, sorry it's so hard to find a moment to write these days. I have a massive pile of boxes to unpack and I feel guilty sitting down at the computer, where I also have about 12 emails waiting for replies....

Congratulations Suey! How exciting to have another pregnancy, I won't be having any more but can live vicariously (spelling???) through all of you. Without the pain!

Skid - sorry to hear about your dd crying - was she like that at nursery too? If it's any consolation, my dd1 still cries most mornings (she didn't this morning as she has a swimming lesson which she is looking forward to). She did the same in Pakistan but after 2 or 3 weeks was fine. Here I think she does actually enjoy it but hates her uniform and is still getting used to the "activities" they do instead of playing with toys, as it is a Montessori school. At least I know she is making friends. They are also pushing her a bit more than they did at her pre-school in the UK and she came home yesterday with a piece of paper on which she has written her name in full, including surname, so she is really coming on with her writing and is just starting to read too.

We took her away to an all-inclusive hotel for her birthday weekend, which was fab. Waterslides, a lazy river, huge pools, a children's play area and Margaritas on tap! Plus no cooking or shopping or thinking about what I am going to cook for me! What more could a girl ask for? The only downside is that dd2 is very very willful and kept refusing to put on her sunsuit so despite lashings of factor 50 got a bit burnt.

Otherwise we're doing ok. It doesn't feel like home yet but we're getting into a good routine. Dd1 is learning to swim without armbands and dd2 kicks her way round the pool just using one of those noodle floats. I reckon she'll be swimming before she is three.

Hope everyone is ok, sorry I can't reply individually to all your messages but I do read them all!

claraquack · 15/09/2009 15:21

Oh I was going to ask about naps. Dd2 sleeps on the way home from her school (toddlers or whatever it's called) for about 20-25 minutes and often that is all she gets for the day. Does anyone's dc go all day without a nap? She usually sleeps 11 hours straight at night, but I worry she isn't getting enough sleep. Trouble is because she sleeps in the car, I can't get her down for another nap. It seems young to be going on only this much sleep, especially as she is pretty active.

brightredballoon · 15/09/2009 20:02

Clara - my DS doesn't have a sleep at the childminders (two days a week) and some days at home he will only have an hour in the middle of the day. I am sure he would benefit from more sleep but that's all he will take.

Drskiddale do you mind me asking if you are cycling in this pregnancy? I have been cycling a bit and going to Spin classes for a while now and would like to continue (but at an easier level) but seem to get mixed advice. I am sure I remember you cycling for a long time with your last pregnancy?

suey2 · 15/09/2009 20:57

I was going to ask you that too skid: you ran for ages last time? I would but am dog tired already: it's all I can do to work tbh.

Doctorskidaddle · 16/09/2009 09:56

suey and brightred - no I have done literally NO exercise since becoming pregnant! I am just so exhausted this time round and cannot face doing anything, especially running which I did quite a bit before. I've heard others say that 3rd pregnancies really take it out of you and I think looking after two little DC is more than I can cope with atm! I cycled until about 6 months last time though and it was fine - think after 7-8 months balance can be an issue although cazzy cycled all the way through IIRC?

clara - thanks for reasurance - DD didn't cry yesterday although she doesn't seem to have made friends yet. She is quite shy so i think it will just take her a while. Your weekend sounds amazing and also sounds like you are slowly settling in - I'm sure it will take a good few months until you feel really at home but sounds like you have made a good start. Wow at your DD1 reading! My DD can write her name too but I don't know if anyone but a loving parent could decipher her scribbles handwriting!

suey - how did it go at the docs?

OnYGo · 16/09/2009 15:29

Difficult for me to do this but if anyone can face reading possibly the longest OP in history then please go here and give me your thoughts. I think it should be pretty obvious to most of you who I am but please don't use my name on that thread or directly refer to it on this one, friends and family know my usual nickname and I don't want it easily searchable.

Would appreciate advice/thoughts from people who know me a bit more...

brightredballoon · 16/09/2009 19:00

Thanks DrSkid! I am doing gently jobs at a really slow pace and the odd class down the gym, really gentle stuff watching my heartrate and watching I am not dehydrated etc I am soooo tired this time too (interesting that they say that about 3rd pregnancies Skid as this is my 3rd too) but I am finding if I can find the energy to go to the class/do the cycle/jog then I feel so much better for it.

OYG - will go and have a look now

claraquack · 16/09/2009 19:10

OnYgo have read and responded. As I say on that message, feel free to contact me via FB if you want to "talk" more.

brightredballoon · 16/09/2009 19:32

OnYgo - have responded as well. Sorry you are going through this x

BouncingTurtle · 17/09/2009 07:49

Have replied, OnYGo.

We're all here for you, you can contact me on FB if you just need someone to talk to.

Arcadie · 17/09/2009 11:06

Have put a longer message on t'other thread now OnYGo. Same offers stand - happy to hear from you on FB if you'd like.

becklespeckle · 17/09/2009 14:17

OnYGo have responded on your thread.

Suey congrats! We seem to have lots of pgs on here again I totally agree with your comments about DCs being older looking too, all mine are tall for their ages and people do expect them to behave the age they look.

Clara, DD still has a couple of hours nap in the middle of the day and then goes around 11 hours at night, all children are different though and at this age my friends DS didn't nap at all (and didn't seem to suffer for it).

Hi to everyone else, and to a couple of old friends, hope you are all okay!

Nothing exciting happening in beckleworld currently, DSs are settling back into school and we are having some problems with attitude, we usually do once they go back after summer, hope they get it out of their systems quickly!

spiralqueen · 17/09/2009 16:56

OnYGo have responded too. Your DH does come across like an oversized 21mth old as he seems to sulk everytime things aren't happening his way. I guess he's really good with the DCs when they want to play with him and he is the centre of their attention? I'm sure he is anti-counselling as he doesn't want his mental health colleagues to be aware of his treatment of you. Patient confidentiality not withstanding I'm sure there would be rumours amongst his professional community if you were to see any of them in a professional capacity. How are you holding up?

Clara DD is still having an afternoon nap and although she does sometimes go all day without a nap if events around her are too interesting, she is always less cranky if she's had a decent nap. It does vary in length though from half an hour up to sometimes 3 hours.

DH decided the other night to go back to giving DD an unwatered down bottle the first time she woke in the night after our less than successful attempts to wean her off it. He gave her the bottle at 11pm and she then went straight through to 7am. So tried each night since with the same effect.

After DH's brush with swine flu, DD has today come down with chicken pox - I'm fully expecting a bout of mad cow disease to come my way

Anybody else had to deal with chickenpox?

Arcadie · 17/09/2009 19:43

SQ DS had chpox when he was 5 months old. But I suspect it's a diff ball game at 21 months. You have my total sympathy. Try calamine with a little menthol for ultimate soothing properties and read your Piriton Liquid bottle before dosing DD up with it!

brightredballoon · 17/09/2009 19:49

Hello, seem to have days when I get lots of opportunity to come on here and then weeks when I don't!

SQ - my DD and DS had chickenpox last summer when DS was 6months old and DD was 2.5yrs. DS was covered from head to foot, the Doctor said he must have a stronger strain of it from catching it off his sister. He was fine though, I put loads and loads of calomine lotion on him that seemed to stop him itching and put some tea tree oil in his bath. He had full doses of calpol for the first 3-4 days but he was over it then and just had to wait for the last blisters to scab until I could take him out again.

becklespeckle · 17/09/2009 22:03

DD had chicken pox at 10 months old, much better they get it when they are younger IME, the DSs were 6 and 4 when they had it and it was so much worse for them, bicarbonate baths in the middle of the night etc... DD just got on with it, bit of calpol and lots of cuddles . Hope she is feeling better soon SQ
