HP - I cn't believe you haven't met Big Cook, Little Cook they are on cbeebies - if you go on the cbeebies webpage you will find them and their FAB recipes!

pertelote · 30/03/2009 22:10

Hey HP, now that's a proper catch up!

I know what I've been meaning to say - ALBS (I assume you're out there?!) was that you I saw at the NCT sale on Saturday? Sorry I couldn't fight my way over to say hullo... hope you bagged some bargains, I was quite pleased with my haul!

cyteen · 30/03/2009 22:11

Yes, the recipe was good but they are FREAKS and their theme tune is tortuously catchy.

Oops I know all about those fecking cooks. I am just that anyone with a child too small to reach the remote would actually bear to watch them Of course now I have got the theme tune in my head, arrggghhh. Still, it's been bloody Balamory for the past 2 days and they do say a change is as good as a rest

Hi Pertelote! How's DD doing?

Sazzles hope DD's given in and passed out now. DS was fast asleep by 8.30 but if it's any consolation the last three nights he's been awake, (or taking up my bed so I'm awake) since 4am [ffs]

Am going for my hair cutting tomorrow. First time to the hairdresser since I was 19. Having my eyelashes and eyebrows tinted too. Can you tell I'm having a bit of a mid-life crisis?

Cyteen and any Big Cook Little Fans, you must read this.

hotcrosspotter · 30/03/2009 22:32

LOL Buckets, that's excellent I do love Richard Herring, although that white text on dark background has made my eyes go all wonky. Big Cook really is shit isn't he!

poppysocks · 30/03/2009 22:36

VG & Simnel - So sorry to hear about you great-aunt and friend's miscarriage. Sad times but in such different ways. I know what you mean VG by shuddering at the thought of what lies ahead. It must have been such a comfort though to have seen you and known that her family cared so much.

Sibh - Great to hear that you'll be seeing a specialist soon and will get answers asap. Hope they are the right ones and that you're feeling ok in the meantime.

Dizzy - Little Mermaid costume sounds fab. Where's the play? Am contemplating taking DD1 to The Tiger Who Came To Tea next week, but will need to ask DD2's godfather-to- be to take her for the duration... He has two littlies of his own but still . Congrats on the wallpaper courage btw. I too spend hours hotly debating different shades of magnolia. Adventurous I'm not in such matters .

Oops - Sorry to hear DD1's under the weather. Hope you have a decent night. DD2 is also struggling in the weight department. 16lb 6oz 10 days ago at 34 (I think) weeks. Anyway, about 10th centile. HV not too worried but I am on and off. My problem is that I still think I have supply problems and now that she's loving her solids I'm struggling to get milk into her, which in turn doesn't help re: supply etc etc. Decided to put her on bottles on Saturday but had given up by mid afternoon as she was so desperate for a bf - even trying to get one from DH . She wasn't keen on formula any more than bm. Does anyone know whether she'll be disadvantaged development wise by not getting enough milk, other than for the calories?

Steaky - So exciting re: new flat! Hope the new space and impetus helps give DH the kick he needs.

cyteen - Glad you had such a great weekend. Can't believe you people on DC1 are spending time on CBeebies. I would do anything NOT to have to watch it now! And yes both Big cook and Little Cook are deeply troubled young men...

S&M - Good to see you. So glad I'm not the only one not on FB. Sometimes feel I'm missing half the party [shock .

to everyone else!

hotcrosspotter · 30/03/2009 22:46

Poppy I'm sure she is getting more milk in her than you think, especially if she was desperate for a BF by mid afternoon. I didn't know what I was doing with DD1, and by the time she was this age I'd gone back to work so she was only having a morning and bedtime feed plus about 8oz of formula during the day and she's always been on the 91st or 98th percentile . I think thy say they need at least a pint of BF or FF a day but that's not so much spread over a few feeds.

At least your HV seems sensible. When I took DS for is 7 month check she measured him and he'd slipped down a bit from 98th to just below 91st so she said 'that's good, we don't want him to be overweight' . Then she measured his height - 50th - and head circumference - 25th. 'Don't worry' says she, 'he's in proportion' [wtf] Stupid woman, she's the one who assured me I'd never make it to 6 months without solids. Showed her Also I measured him myself when I got home and he is longer and less pin-headed than she said

Tidy all the bits and bobs...

poppysocks · 30/03/2009 22:47

LOL hp re: CBeebies watching before strictly necessary. And thanks for the link buckets. V. good. Have forwarded it on to DH who is driven mad by the terrible Big Cook ho,ho,ho.

Starting to feel really stressed about the christening next weekend. Tried on my dress with proper underwear, shoes etc. and decided it's not 100% appropriate for a christening (not frumpy enough after all that ) so need to start again... Ordered food today (cop-out I know), but DH keeps saying how much he's dreading it so I know he'll just be no use/moan. We also have a wedding the day before, a meeting with the vicar, a dear friend's 30th birthday party, family, friends and godparents descending AND DD1 has a b'day party. Oh God. (sorry CC).

Oh and pf re: clothes....

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 22:48

hotter love the new name. Hope you enjoy the hair dressers tomorow.
My new do is nowt to shout about. I decided after much pondering to stay blonde.
I had several inches chopped off. Will try to upload pics, bit camera shy. Not very photogenic.

well I am now covered in drool, clear snot, green snot and tears. Took almost 40 mins to get ds back off to sleep. He cried and cried and cried.
I now feel like I have gone deaf.

oops so sorry hv made you feel shite. Ds was 10lb 2 and has yet to double is birth weight. He is past 7 months and on last weigh in was slightly over 16lb.

dizzychixies · 30/03/2009 22:51

poppy unless there is some huge intellectual chat going on without me its mainly the photos you're missing so don't panic! is dsis still there or are she and dneice away now?

We took the girls (6 of them all in their mermaid costumes) to see The Little Mermaid at the Rep and it was lovelyshown here, The set was fantastic and the adaptation very good - there was a workshop for them before and after so the girls had a ball and before we left the director came over and asked us if they'd enjoyed the show as she was really worried about getting it right

The Tiger that came to Tea is meant to be fantastic, my friend took her DDs (5 and 2) to see it in Edinburgh and is wanting to go again as they enjoyed it so much. Would you not consider taking DD2 with you? there are lots of babes in arms at these things - or if you miss it they are showing it at the Rep in July for 2 days again.

evening all else, am not really on here I'm 'working' [cough]

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 22:52

poppy I am starting to feel stressed about christening next weekend too. Hope ds picks up by then
am also having dilema re outfit too. I have bought 3 dresses and I think I ma happy with the last purchase but have been all over today for shoes and I cant find any.
The dress is brown so I was advised brown, bronze or gold shoes?????

poppysocks · 30/03/2009 22:53

Sorry oops I wasn't very helpful there, rabbiting away about my DD's weight issues. What I guess I was trying to say was to remind us, as the good pf would, that for every top there must be a bottom and the centile thing is rubbish. Also, the doubling birth weight thing does seem to be pretty inconsistent. Lots of people I know had huge babies who are now small children and vice versa.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 22:55

I am meant to be doing my food order, I am now undecided who to go with as my Ocado/waitrose shopping last week was a bit
Fruit shite, carrots tasteless, teacakes meh

dizzychixies · 30/03/2009 22:56

poppy DD2 won't take milk and has refused it from a young age - we just stock her up on yogurts % cheese for dairy portions

is there anything I can do to help? some online dress suggestions perhaps? shove it all on a credit card/ have it delivered and send back the ones you don't want

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 22:56

dizzy get back to work.

Only kidding come back

Thanks for that link btw I ordered 2 pairs of shoes for dd the pink and the green.

poppysocks · 30/03/2009 22:58

Dizzy - Glad it was good and good to know TTWCTT (snappy eh?!) is around again in July. Might wait for that as next week will be busy enough...

No1 - I have some great brown shoes I'd love to wear but can't find the brown dress! Hope M picks up soon. I have never been so grateful for an old wives' tale as I was at DD1's screamfest/christening about crying the devil out. She certainly did that and for once I was only congratulated by old ladies! Hope it won't come to that though and your boy will be right as rein, beaming at one and all.

LoveBuckets · 30/03/2009 22:58

Big Cook and Little Cook present a really shit gameshow on Nuts TV (or at least they did when it started, would be amazed if it was still going.) Big Cook has aged dreadfully and looks really bitter and cynical. Little Cook (who is really about a foot taller) comes across as a much more pleasant chap.

dizzychixies · 30/03/2009 22:58

No1 bronze shoes here

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 23:04

lol poppy The dress is strapless fitted then flared brown sequins and then net overlay. Very typical Monsoon in style and detail iykwim

dizzy love them shoes, but didnt want to spend that much as wont wear them again.

Just had email from that shoe company they are out of size 7 in the daisy sandal. Thinking of ordering an 8. What are their sizes like, how do they compare to say clarks or hush puppies. (I know hush measure half size smaller than clarks)

poppysocks · 30/03/2009 23:05

Thanks for the offer Dizzy. Think I'll find something in Monsoon as was sorely tempted by a few alternatives when I popped in today to get a cardi to go with the now cancelled dress... DH has decided he needs a new suit too so suspect the girls will be subjected to a shopping trip with us on Saturday. Somehow that seems less traumatic than braving the Post Office to return unwanted items.

Did L give up milk altogether at this age? I'm making up 11fl oz of formula each day for breakfast cereal and bedtime bottle but we've been struggling to get much more than half a bottle in in the evening recently. Then she's having maybe a 15 min feed first thing and then maybe 3x5 min feeds the rest of the day. She's sooooo easily distracted - and so am I tbh with DD1 to keep an eye on. I did find DD1 with DD2 across her lap today though with her T-shirt up, trying to feed DD2 . She couldn't concentrate on that either as she was giggling away. Will make great bribery in later years .

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 23:05

In fact I love them shoes

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 23:08

pmsl poppy at dd1 trying to feed dd2. Bless.
You will be amazed how myuch milk they can take in 5 min.
Marcus is very very easily distracted now, and he pulls away to nosey at whatever, but when he does feed its only around 5/7 min.
He has one in am 7ish, sometimes 1 around 11am. then 2.30.then bed 6.30.
