VG so sorry to hear your news. What a blessing you went to see her yesterday. I will of course pray for her, and for all those who were close to her.

How many crawling babies have I missed? Oliver not crawling yet, he just rolls around the room instead . Time to break out the stair gates soon....

House is a frigging tip. Am planning a mammoth day of proper cleaning and tidying. After I've been on mn and fb of course!!

sambo303triesforScotland · 30/03/2009 10:36

vg my thoughts are with you, I am very sorry for your loss

goodness what a lot of chat, I have missed loads...glad you had a lovely weekend cyteen it sounds idyllic, good to have you back sazzles, hi to everyone

ds has a tooth coming through, I was a bit as he is growing up but it is exciting

am off for a swim now as summer approaches and I can no longer hide under multitudinous layers

oopsacoconut · 30/03/2009 10:39

VG - Sorry to hear your sad news, will keep her and your family in our prayers.

CC no crawling here, no rolling either but today she was sitting hoding my hands and she pulled her self to standing

cyteen · 30/03/2009 11:30

VG really sorry to hear about your aunt. May she rest in peace and live on in many loving memories.

dizzy no pics of me because they're my photos innit...I am waiting for the rest of the girls to upload theirs, undoubtedly to my shame.

Joe having another one of his "I'm not tired enough to sleep longer than 35 minutes" days It drives me insane, especially now that he's managed a couple of 1.5 hour sleeps recently. He is now sitting on my lap, grumpy, refusing to let me trim his horrible claws; meanwhile the house descends further into filth as I never get any chance to do anything.

Ooh hark at me, yearning for more time to clean. LOL.

No rolling here still, let alone anything else. Lazy sod just like his mother.

We are under siege from a fluffy ginger cat that has been desperate to come in since last night. Poor thing, it sounds very pathetic, mewing and scratching outside the back door. My two are wearing this face

CaptainCaveman · 30/03/2009 11:50

Ahh, bless our little babies . Oliver can't sit up unaided for more than about 5 seconds, yet he rolls quite happily from one end of the room to the other in record speed , and if you stand him up he'll stay there wobbling on his legs, whilst holding your hands, for ages. They are just such little miracles aren't they? How they figure out to move is fab

Right, have earned myself an mn break after some mammoth cleaning and tidying efforts upstairs. Just the downstairs to do next..... I'll leave the toilet for dh

dizzychixies · 30/03/2009 12:49

haven't had a chance to catch up BUT we got a sleep through night again which makes 2 in a row won't hold my breath for tonight though

have ordered my wallpaper for the front room so only positive comments please

here

taking DD1 to the theatre tonight to see the Little Mermaid with some of her pals, they're all wearing their mermaid outfits which will be lovely except DD's is literally a fishtail dress and she can't walk faster than a shuffle shall have to remember and leave early so we don't miss it!!!

dizzychixies · 30/03/2009 12:53

oh VG have just read about your aunt, am so terribly sorry thank goodness you made that trip yesterday. My thought are with you and your dad and extended family at this sad time. Please excuse my blithering post I just barged on as usual

So sorry to hear about your aunt, VG. Prayers for her, and for all of your family here too.

I'm back from another trip to the doctor. He very kindly said he thinks I've done some nerve damage while hauling the children around, but a check with the neurologist is still a a good idea. Meanwhile the computer next to him says I have clear blood results and the analysis line reads 'Inflammatory lesions blah blah blah?' which as I understand it means what the doctor wants the neurologist to test for is MS.

My symptoms mean I can expect an appointment in the next few weeks, so there is some kind of fast-tracking available after all. Good that its possible, crap that I need it. Ho hum.

And I went to a chiropractor at the weekend who was lovely and will try to sort out my left side as far as she can so that at least it will be easier to rule out mechanical causes. At least it feels like I'm doing something positive.

DD2 can clap since yesterday so that is bringing smiles all round. She occasionally slaps herself in the face and looks very aggrieved though. DD1 is twirling so will need rescuing any moment now.

Glad you had a fab time Cyteeen.
Hello to everyone else too.

cyteen · 30/03/2009 13:56

As you say Sibh, great that they're getting on but must be frightening too...although my SIL was diagnosed with MS some years ago (before my brother got sick) and so far it's had very little impact on her life. She occasionally has a bit of leaden leg but is otherwise fit and healthy, and currently training as a nurse So there's positive.

LoveBuckets · 30/03/2009 14:11

Ooh Miamla Love those blue flowery shoes you linked to but my laptop had an allergic reaction to them and kept reproducing the window over and over! BTW I'm making burgers this week according to your meatball recipe.

Steaky I bet toffee apple crumble with maple syrup was even better! BTW would you and Eggspectant like us to post your some Calpol and Baby Nurofen sachets for future fevers? Suppositories always sound so extreme, surely the last thing you want when you're poorly

Oops What a fabulous client! How exciting.

VG Sending repose-y vibes into the ether for your aunt.

Hey Cavey How's your DNiece?

Sibh

My DH has had an interview today for transfer to nearer office which would be heaven!!! In the excitement I completely forgot to pick up DS1 from pre-school, they had to phone me! He didn't seem to mind though TBH. Kurt is way too excited to sleep this afternoon with DS1 and Daddy around so we're all going to potter down to collect DD later and play in the park while it's sunny. He has been shrieking and giggling at DS1 for 90mins now.

Kurt can now sit unaided and roll about but only crawls in his sleep. Really don't want stairgates at top and bottom of stairs - this means I've got to go back to Ikea to buy a laptop station and move the officey stuff out of his room so he can play in there with a gate on his door.

Whoops forgot your message Sibh - sending you positive vibes across the channel.

PetitFilou1 · 30/03/2009 14:39

Hi all

cyteen Glad you had a good time - not jealous at all!

sazzles Thanks for your message - yes first thing fine by me!

vg Sorry to hear the news about your aunt. Hope you are feeling ok.

expectant Tis the same story all over with mmen and childcare duties I'm afraid (and household ones) If dh empties the dishwasher more than once I hear about it for days.... Believe me, get through this first year and you have got through the hardest bit.

Mind you dh took the older two dcs for several hours on Saturday as I was just falling asleep on my feet - on the train to Reading and to John Lewis to get them some clothes. He was knackered afterwards but I think actually enjoyed the time with them. I just spent the time feeling extreme guilt for the fact that I literally couldn't do anything (and even tried to sleep for a hour - failed but I did try!)

Toby is completely bggered by the clocks changing - I understand he is not the only one. He is eating and everything but his sleep at bedtimes and naps are all over the place (unsurprisingly) cc* He's also a roller not a crawler. ds1 didn't crawl until 10 months and was standing the next day.... so I'm expecting much the same as they are so similar - thus far at least.

Bath yesterday was good - was a close friend's second wedding celebration (marriage isn't until this weekend and very small). We were dreading it as childless couple with tiny house, unchild friendly tiny garden (steep drops, concrete steps etc) and no toys. But the sun came out and saved the day so it was actually quite nice.

Anyway, that is my five minutes off household duties - back later

PetitFilou1 · 30/03/2009 14:41

sibh I hope you are ok too - fingers crossed re the neurologist.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 30/03/2009 14:43

vg so sorry to hear about your loss I am so pleased you got to spend some time with each other in her final hours.

sibh I am very pleased to hear your appointment will be a lot sooner than you thought, but you have to have the appointment at all. I hope you are getting lots of support. Thinking of you.

dizzy congrats on another good night and I think that wallpaper is beautiful btw. Very of little mermaid. I just love that. I cant wait to take dd to something like that, not sure of her attention span at the moment though.

cyteen very frustrating when you kn ow they are capable of a long stretch of sleep.
cc glad you managed some fb and mn time I also agree they are amazing how they learn to move about.
sambo I know what you mean about them growing so quickly .

buckets hope your dh interview has the result you are all hoping for.
lol at forgetting to pick up ds

Sausageandmash · 30/03/2009 15:01

Bother just done a big message then lost it but, in summary,
VG - really sorry about your Aunt and just so glad that you saw her so recently.
Cyteen - glad you had a fantastic hen - only sorry I'm not on facebook to live vicariously through you!
No1 - your kitchen sounds great (ditto FB above!)
Buckets - really good luck with your dh's potential transfer
Sazzles - your holiday sounded brilliant - calypso cruise sounds v good.
Sibh - sorry you've such a wait on your hands.
Lots more to say but hope all is well, strife finished with and babes all well or on the way. Oh, and finally, am at how active some of your babes are - ds is content to chill under his play gym with not a roll, or more, in sight (damn, clearly taking after me..)

Steaknife · 30/03/2009 15:51

S&M I've got a lazy one too. She will sit next to me on the sofa or in her high chair playing with toys, but will only attempt a half roll if there is a boob to be had and the closest she gets to crawling is tucking her toes into me and shoving her bottom out when I hold her.
She does like to be held up standing and wobble about and FIL who has a wicked sense of humour starts to sing the Cancan and we all get a bit carried away.

VG sorry to hear about your aunt, I am glad you got to spend time with her.

Buckets I think mum will be good for sending me calpol. When I was home I stocked up on bongella and gripe water but forgot the calpol.

When the mansteak was poorly I gave him the baby thermometer and he asked "has these been up her bum?" [euw] aparently that is the best place to take a temperature according to French monthers. All very odd if you ask me.

Ah yes, men and childcare. While I was cooking yesterday Mansteak was supposed to be looking after the baby, but it was MIL who gave her her snack and played with her.

Collected keys for the apartment today and FIL and I stripped the wallpaper in the kitchen and sitting room. We weren't planning too but we started peeling a bit and it came away so easy and was so much fun it seemed silly to stop.

So I'm looking for ideas for the baby's room, all suggestions welcome.
At the mo I'm thining fresh spring colours and wall stickers.

cyteen · 30/03/2009 16:15

Hold the front page - Joe just rolled! Front to back [proud]. Only the once, mind

And now I am feeling a little like a mean mummy as I have just put him down for a nap in his cot and escaped to the kitchen, where the washing machine has drowned out his protests He is so tired and really doesn't want to go to sleep and all day I've been feeling guilty about being such a soft touch and never leaving him to get on with things, so eventually I just thought 'give it five minutes and if he's still upset, go back up there'. All is quiet so obviously I now feel guilty for letting him get himself to sleep (why?) and also a bit worried that he has somehow managed to do himself an injury in the five minutes I was out of earshot!

It's too complicated being a mum.

cyteen · 30/03/2009 16:33

And now the fucking cat has woken him up FFS!

CaptainCaveman · 30/03/2009 17:07

What was the cat doing cyteen? Well done for leaving him to settle himself though! I wish I could do that in the middle of the night

NO1 I forgot to say, fab kitchen! Nice photos too, gorgeous little ones you have there.

buckets I keep expecting a phone call to say I've forgotten a child somewhere, and I only have the 2!!

TS and Sazzles how was your holiday(s)? I've been absent whilst you travelled

cyteen · 30/03/2009 17:09

CC god knows, just thumping about up there as usual None of the doors shut properly in this poxy house so I can't keep him out.

swim was fab, feel mucho refreshed!

cyteen I worry when ds is quiet too - crept upstairs to check on him as he'd made no sound after I put him down for a nap - he was snoring soundly with legs stuck through the cot bars - very cute but not so cute when he woke screaming cos he was stuck

vg you cannot beat F&B, I painted this house and the last one in it, I like the muted tone of the paint iykwim, all paintings/objects look fab against it

s&m my ds does not roll unless in his cot, maybe he expects the entertainment to come to him

sibh how worrying, hope the results come quickly

I purchased a doidy cup today - do these work or can I expect to get dowsed?? Does anyone have any advice on cleaning ds's teeth (well, tooth atm) - how and with what? I've seen a finger toothbrush but was a bit at £5.50. Will a cloth + finger do instead?

cyteen · 30/03/2009 18:36

simnel I think you can use a clean finger with a dab of toothpaste.
