ALBS HOLY CRAP SEVEN TEETH!!! That's impressive!!

Help! I've uploaded pics of the kitchen here on MN. I'm not feeling the thrill with the paint I picked today. Comments please.

Oh I added one pic of Reese into mischief.

hotcrosspotter · 08/04/2009 21:17

Yay for Leonard Cohen tickets VG and Happy Birthday for yesterday

Glad the mini-meetup went OK PF and Sazzles, with the VG and Dizzy one for tomorrow, it's time we organised a bigger one again

DS is 2/3 today (doesn't seem right using blowjob bunny there ) He can:

Sit but not for long and not by himsef
Do press-ups
Can't crawl in the classic way but will drag himself commando-style from one end of the room to the other in a flash
Eats three meals and has prob 4 bf and 1 ff during the day, maybe 1 - 3 bf at night
Can sleep 8 hours usually till about 4am but is then up every hour
Still naps 2 or 3 times a day
Has 3.5 teeth
Says mama dada baba but mainly dada

His favourite things are shoes, pram wheels and the nappy bucket which he will crawl to and then attempt to empty while I'm not looking [eww]

He's fab

hotcrosspotter · 08/04/2009 21:25

Not sure how I missed your post TS and sorry, I'm rubbish at choosing colours, but that photo of Reese is fab Love her outfit!

oopsahotcrossbunny · 08/04/2009 21:25

VG - Happy belated birthday have some chocolate tart and clotted cream.

Sazzles - Mum is here until tomorrow evening then we are up to them on Monday.

I am with HP we need to start organising a summer 'birthday' meet somehwere.

V.V. envious of all the mini meetups

oopsahotcrossbunny · 08/04/2009 21:26

TS Reese looks fab and very mischievious kitchen is looking good too.

Hi HP

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2009 21:54

Hmmm I think I am starving my poor boy of bf milk compared to some of you! Maybe why he is not very large! Perhaps should consult the dreaded HV. Or not seeing as other two dcs seem to have turned out ok.....

Anyway off to bed

ts Reese looks very cute in that photo.

The kitchen colour looks pink - is it actually red in RL?

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 21:54

What a diverse array of abilities. No two alike.

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 21:55

coral

LoveBuckets · 08/04/2009 22:00

Bugger! Have just taken a food intolerance test for fun and it has oome up with cow's milk (strongly) and (weakly) wheat, rice and cocoa!!! Oh well, will have to wait til the kids move out before I can manage to cut any of it out.

Kurt update:

Zero teeth
Sleeps 7-6ish
4 bottle feeds and 3 food feeds a day
Sits unaided
Rolls and wriggles backwards
Still quiet and placid, doesn't cry much at all but babbles a little, does eye contact and yaps at people to get their attention which is all more language than DS1 had til 12m at least.
Loves his mum

Another lovely familyish day here, got hair done at last (although it's a bit too natural looking for my like) and then we piled of to Bournemouth beach and gardens for tea.

Hope you have another good night tonight Sambo.

oopsahotcrossbunny · 08/04/2009 22:00

BTW - you kitchen is not mischievious your daughter looks it!

pertelote · 08/04/2009 22:21

TS I don't have any experience of painting but it looks to me as if it will look great once finished... what are you feeling about it? It's too... what? Love the pic of Reese though, what a poppet!

Belated happy birthday and congratulations on aunthood, VG!

My lovely girl here is 8 months today, is 27 days post-surgery and:

  • has two teeth
  • can sit, and shuffle rather fast but no crawling yet (and not much rolling)
  • likes to pull herself up to stand but needs a lot of support
  • says 'hiyyyyy' which I know is more like a random noise than a word, but she does seem to do it in response to 'hi' or hello'
  • waves hello and goodbye
  • looks the right way for 'where's daddy/mummy/granny/ducks?'
  • eats a bit of grown-up food three times a day, plus five BFs
  • co-sleeps, so a bit of feeding overnight, I'm usually woken briefly two or three times
  • weighs 6.5kg which is fine by me
  • has a large but neat and well-healed scar on her chest

Wow I could write about her all night Lovely to read about the others too. Yay August babies!

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 23:47

Wow Pertelote that's great! She's moving along isn't she.

Well I'm going back to the paint store. I think I need a blue. If you look at this color wheel you'll see browns are next to reds so it causes a blending effect. The color doesn't POP. To get a POP I have to go with a color across the wheel from brown (the color of the cabinets) which is green (used in three rooms of my house already) or blue. So BLUE it IS.

TwilightSurfer · 09/04/2009 03:14

Just popping on with a funny dh story. He had to drop off at the doctor's office his first post-snipsnip sample this morning before work. They called and left him a voicemail (on his cell phone) with the results. He made me listen to it as soon as he got home. I'll preface this with he giggled the WHOLE time. The nurse said, "Mr Twilight MAKE SURE you are using protection when engaging in sexual activity." She said something else then...this is why he was giggling...she said, "PLEASE make sure you ejaculate (i can't even spell the word) at least 25 times before your next sample is due." I thought he was going to fall over he was laughing so hard. He kept saying, "Did you hear what she said?" OMG I'm married to a teenager.

So ladies. Be warned. If your DH goes to get the snipsnip, the gun can stay loaded for a VERY LONG TIME even with the ammunition cut off.

TwilightSurfer · 09/04/2009 03:16

alrighty then
NIGHT!

simnel303 · 09/04/2009 08:32

Good morning, French toast on the go plus hot tea of course - help yourselves

just zooming off to swimming now then we're going to see The Young Victoria then a little shopping...

hope all have a wonderful day

vg congrats on those tickets, that will be a night to remember...

Steaknife · 09/04/2009 09:18

Morning all - thanks for the French toast, I really must make some one morning.

I've really enjoyed reading all about your adventures and meet ups.

TS Reese looks like a very happy little lady and I am now suffering counter envy over your kitchen. Tis all freestanding here and a top-loading washing machine cuts down available space. Ah well.

Baby and I had a nice afternoon, I managed to find a wifi place in town (at home I have to use my mobile as a modem and it won't allow me into hotmail - bah ) and even though she only napped for half an hour she played quietly in her pram for a good hour while I got stuff done. I did have to pull out all the stops to entertain her on the way home. Singing, dancing, going round in circles - don't care what I looked like she was having a great time and I can just pretend I am "ze crazy engleesh madame"

I am a bit at meet ups though.

I made the savoury flapjacks, I think Cyteen linked to them, they are very yummy - I used a good dash of herbs of provence in them.

It is nice to be in our own place and footle about doing things - even if it is the laundry and cooking and all.

Morning All

Thanks for the French toast Simnel just what I needed.

I am off the to the personal trainer this morning and then out to lunch with mum before she goes home

Nothing much else news here but will be back later to catch up properly.

Have a good day everyone!

LoveBuckets · 09/04/2009 11:05

TS PMSL at your DH. Mine has taken his first sample in today as well (first chance he's had 4m after the op!) At least with his new job he'll have a bit more time for 'cleaning his gun' haha.

Sazzles I tested positive for cow's milk in my teens but that was with the dodgy Vega test thing (using homeopathic quantities on your toe.) Milk and cocoa make sense as they are common migraine triggers (although not noticeably for me), wheat makes sense of my limited bread-eating abilities but rice is quite a shock! As I say, it's going to be at least 15yrs before an exclusion diet will be convenient so fingers crossed no other symptoms turn up.

cyteen · 09/04/2009 11:37

morning all

anyone got a good beef stew/casserole recipe?

apols for brevity, nothing to report here

Miamla · 09/04/2009 12:07

hi cyteen, i tend to just chuck in what i've got in the cupboard/fridge! fry beef, coat in flour, put mixture aside. fry onions. return beef. add tin of toms, carrots, celery, dash or two of red wine, sprinkling of herbs cover it all with stock. bung in oven and ignore for a few hours. longer you leave it, the more tender the meat will be. and if you're really cunning and remember, stick a couple of potatoes in the oven for the last 1.5 hours. meal done!

ooh, a nice addition is if you fry some bacon and add that too.

DS using me as a climbing frame atm. at least its taking hs mind off his teeth

oh and steak, don't be about meetups. when i told DP where you live he asked when we could visit you!

Eggspectant · 09/04/2009 13:21

TS PMSL at your DH story

Update from me. DS was 8 months yesterday:

DS has 3 teeth (two bottom and one dracula like fang at the top)
Crawling
Pulls up to standing on any possible surface including some not very stable ones
Climbing stairs
Waves bye-bye (doesn't seem to get that hello is the same)
Says Baba a lot particularly at the cats
Sits well but sitting is boring
Is constantly on the go when awake
Hates the car seat and the buggy
Walks well when someone is holding both his hands
Eating 3 meals plus about 4 bfs a day but gets bored sitting in his high chair quickly
Still not sleeping through

Steaknife · 09/04/2009 13:34

Have I mentioned how much I love our terrace - means I can walk the baby up and down in her buggy until she sleeps and then mn get things done while she sleeps.

Sazzles, I forgot to say thank you for the multiple buggy links, I sent them to my friend, she replied saying that they were exactly what she was looking for but had lost the website.

Miamla I think I am a bit of anyone with friends local to them at the moment.
I am beginning to make some friends, but it isn't the same as having people that already know you and share the same references as you - I feel like one of those badly dubbed foriegn films most of the time. The jokes just dont translate. Ah well, we keep on trying.

Having said that I think I have three weeks off from French class. Would IBU to not tell anyone and just keep on letting PILs babysit two afternoons a week?

Eggspectant · 09/04/2009 14:01

Steak are there no fellow MNetters near you? Have you tried the Living Overseas thread?

Might be worth a try?

Miamla · 09/04/2009 14:04

steak you made me smile about you being a dubbed film! well we're definitely going to Gap this year, prob in a couple of months so would be good to meet you and DD if you're around. We can drink coffee, eat amazing french pastries and chat about fabric whilst the babies are happily playing!
