Congrats AuntieVintage! Ahh, a new little girl to sniff And HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You snuck that one in under the wire, I would have baked a cake if I'd known. Would have offered you the last bit of my peach and pear cake but the cat decided to help my diet efforts by licking it

Eggspectant am very jealous of you getting to go to a gig. That's one of the main things I miss now that I'm babied up. Still, now I know Joe can happily spend a night or two without me, I'm hatching plans to visit my best mate the next time a decent show comes up.

Now that I have a return to work date sorted I think I may need to introduce a bit of formula to Joe's diet...am still expressing but don't really want the extra stress of absolutely having to rely on having pumped X amount ready for the next day.

Hi CC!

Happy Birthday for yesterday VG and congrats on your new niece. So pleased all went well. Have a great hol. Will await all tips/feedback with relish. Heard from a friend that a friend of hers went and had an absolutely fantastic time (well her DCs did ).

Hope DD1 is feeling sunnier today sazzles and that it no-one else comes down with it.

Congrats to your DS simnnel. He has set a precedent. Onwards and upwards.

Have a great day ALBS. Hope you manage to find what you're after AND have a relaxing day with the DCs.

Expectant - I returned to work for mornings (roughly speaking) after DD1 and found exactly what you're saying hard. In theory it's great to have the morning to be an adult and work and afternoon to be a mother, but I also found that the me bit got lost. What helped a lot was getting DD1 into a routine that meant that she napped as soon as we got home, giving me 40 mins or so, at least, to have some lunch and draw breath.

Lovely evening yesterday with old uni friends who are on hol up here. Sadly though one of them received a call just before we met to say that her father has an aggressive cancer and his prognosis is not good.

Starting to brace myself for the onslaught of family arriving for the christening and the craziness of the weekend with a wedding and 30th b'day party too. And still don't have outfit for christening sorted.

cyteen · 08/04/2009 11:33

Oh god. I forgot that today is my brother and SIL's wedding anniversary Must text SIL and tell her to ring me tonight if she wants (don't want to crowd her, she may just want to be by herself iyswim).

poppysocks · 08/04/2009 11:39

In terms of where DD2 is, she:

  • has 2 teeth (at the bottom)
  • sitting for a while now so v. secure
  • making her way around v. effectively by rolling (and the occasional lift from DD1 )
  • no real sign of crawling (phew), sufficiently keen on standing to require a gentle karate chop to get her to sit down in high chair/car seat and just starting to try to pull herself up.
  • tons of burbling. Inevitably DaDaDa the favourite and DH rather smug.
cyteen · 08/04/2009 11:43

Joe status update:

no teeth
has rolled front to back twice, otherwise happily immobile
can sit steadily without support
loves standing and bouncing (with adult help obv)
smily chatterbox
eats for Britain

CaptainCaveman · 08/04/2009 12:00

lol at karate chopping the legs . I do that too

I also find Oliver much more of a placid baby than his big brother who is more impatient (and always has been!)

Am making the most of mn time whilst I'm alone in the office

Congrats auntievintage and Happy Birthday for yesterday too!

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 12:48

PF I get that sometimes from that site too. You don't have to log in. There is something on that log in page that says something like go on to the article. Just click that and it will show you what you want to see.

Sazzles OUCH

VG HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! and wonderful news about your new niece!!!!

Miamla · 08/04/2009 13:03

VG HAPPY UN-BIRTHDAY

I'm liking the status update thing! its easier to see exactly what all the babies are up to!

here's mine or should i say, here's DS's!

  • 2 and a half teeth (bottom 2 and a top half!)
  • he sits unaided but seems to prefer kneeling
  • crawling (at a particularly high speed if we've accidentally left the door open!)
  • still hasn't slept through the night. max sleep is 3hrs at a time
  • pulls himself to standing by grabbing anything he can..curtains, tables, sofa, my leg
  • is practising standing without holding on and has managed about 10secs so far.
  • new trick of today is throwing his head back and arms straight up like he's worshipping the sun or something. v sweet but yet rather bizarre!

i'm feeling a bit out of sorts today. no energy at all. no motivation to do stuff. feel so tired. A good walk in the sun usually sorts my head out but i've got a suspected torn cruciate in my knee so doc has recommended only necessary walking. maybe another cup of tea will help

simnel303 · 08/04/2009 14:02

hi cc good to see you

happy birthday vg, I'm afraid I have only slightly stale marmalade cake to offer, no icing as I've still to get to the shop for mascarpone...

status update for ds:

  • 2 tiny teeth
  • can sit unaided really well
  • enjoys clapping
  • rolls if necessary to reach a toy but not to travel
  • smiley
  • charming to creche ladies at leisure centre
  • has recently slept 6 continuous hours
TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 15:05

Reese 7.75months
-4 Teeth (2down @ 6m then 2up this week)
-Rolls to Seated Position
-Sits Unaided
-Crawls
-Attempts to Stand but gets stuck in the Down Dog position.
-If put in a Standing Position she Stands Happily while holding something.
-Prefers Standing.
-Will Walk with Assistance. This AMAZES me.
-Eats anything that comes near her mouth.
-Takes Two Solid Feeds a day and about 4 bottles (24oz of formula).
-Says Mama and Dada although not always to the correct person.
-Sleeps well but when teething wakes at least once a night requiring a bottle to resettle.

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2009 15:44

Hi all
Pleased to see that the pf/sazzles meet up did occur after much faffing about! And I'm now back home. sazzles Lovely to meet dd1 and Emma and sorry for the Iwanticecream whingeing chinese water torture from dd which must still be ringing in your ears (and for all those reading I gave in in the end. Not one of my finest parenting moments)

Happy 21st Birthday to vg

TS thanks for the link

and after update I am off to tidy up all the going out stuff while the dcs watch a dvd (phew)

Toby update
2 teeth (the ones that came in at 5 1/2 months) at the bottom
rolls about everywhere
established on 3 meals a day
two big bfs a day and one little one and usually one in the night (or two on a bad night)
not remotely sitting up (and not concerned....yet... as dd did not sit up until 8 months)although I wish he would
very smily and happy usually but not so happy being in the buggy all the time atm (because of ds1 and dd being at home)
babbling a lot in fits and starts

TwilightSurfer · 08/04/2009 16:50

PF I'm glad you and Sazzles had a good meetup. She lovely isn't she!!

I've cleaned up the kitchen...sort of. Done a little laundry...although it's not put away. And caught up on all my email messages...sazzles your dh has a note now. So next I must feed ME before Reese wakes and wants me to feed HER. Which could be any second.

I'm out of here. See you ladies later!!!!

alittlebitshy · 08/04/2009 17:05

Henry update:

7 teeth (2 just through - 4 at top, 3 at bottom)
Sits v well unaided but had learnt to get onot his tummy from sitting up. Can't get abck up again lol.
Rolls and rolls and rolls
Not crawling but almost there.. am sure he levered himself a few mms last night
5-8 bfs in 24 hours (1-2 at night) (one one ff at bedtime- milkaholic like his sister)
Sleep not too bad. 1 or 2 wake ups with the odd sleep through thrown in to confuse us. Will go back down no hassle now and will chat to self if not back to sleep immediately.
very cheerful, smiley giggly boy though hates not being with mummy

got to go....

poppysocks · 08/04/2009 17:06

Oh buggeration. Not being able to face the shops to find a replacement christening outfit I ordered a shedload of stuff online from Boden (I know...). Anyway, has finally arrived and it's all crap. Back to square one with far less time.

Off to raid the wardrobe and make something work (so should have done this before really ).

cyteen · 08/04/2009 17:36

I forgot to ask in my update - what random objects are everyone's LOs currently obsessed with? Joe's favourite things of the moment, the things that get him flapping his arms and legs about and going OOOOOOOUUURRRRROOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHH with an intent look on his face, are:

the cats' tails (unlucky beasties )
the teatowel that hangs on the kitchen door next to his highchair - every time I dry my hands he goes mental with excitement
the print on the stairwell wall of a tattooed lady - he just loves her, it's very sweet

alittlebitshy · 08/04/2009 17:41

sorry so random and rushed. dh in and out doing stuff for service tonight so I have to grab odd mins on pc then scarper if he needs it .

Hi All

Back from a lovely day at Weston-super-mud Mare DD was fab'ly behaved and is now amusing her grandma and aunty but bouncing away on their laps.

DD Stats: 7mo 1 week

Sitting very well since 4.5mos
eating most things offered but only if they have a strongish flavour - won't eat plain food.
Goes from sitting to tummy (involuntarily)
can roll from front to back but why do it when someone will do it for you instead.
doesn't roll from back to front
lies on her back and arches herself up, if sat in a corner she can push herself to standing from here.
Shouts random strings of sounds constantly.
Love to eat cat tails and love things in packages not interested once they are out.

Back in a bit - chocolate tart in the oven.

PetitFilou1 · 08/04/2009 19:37

cyteen
Toby mostly loves being given a piece of foil to crush. Or a wipes packet (ala Emma)

He also loves his brother and sister - especially when ds1 sings him songs about Batman on the motorway etc etc which usually involve toilet humour I tried to read them their bedtime stories with him on my lap this evening but he couldn't stop laughing at ds1s face - so I had to put him down. It was quite funny really.

Oh and sazzles I KNEW you would tell on me re my valiant icecream saving efforts I reckon you were a prefect at school or possibly even head girl

And I am revealed as a Berghaus mac wearer - my glamour quotient has been considerably reduced

dizzy thanks for your text btw - it made me smile. Maybe we should have an MN abandoned wives thread where we can all rant on a regular basis and where no-one else has to hear us going on
