mmm just had delicious fishcakes, ds liked them too. recipe here

the scales are in Kingston if you care to take a trip down, and you can lose 2 stone in an instant for only 20p

sazzles matching dresses sound cute to me, and what will you be wearing?

sadly no positive news here, I was even surprised by my feelings of excitment when reading an email from a colleague today about all the changes at work - I felt excited about going back which is the last thing I thought I'd feel

LoveBuckets · 02/04/2009 21:03

OMG just how brilliant was Eastenders???

simnel303 · 02/04/2009 21:07

You must have missed the great prog about caravanning - was superb...

I must remark now on Tuesday's conversation regarding kitchen paint. VG I am doing my kitchen RED!! Yes, I said RED!! The kitchen is 7ft x 14ft (so smallish / galley style layout). Eventually the cabinets will be black, right now they are dark oak. My living room and dining room are light sage. The rooms flow into each other. The newly recovered sofa in the living room is a red/orange/goldish pattern so I decided to pull the red from the sofa and use it for the kitchen. The way I see it, red is fire/passion and that's exactly what I need in my kitchen. I am known to have the radio blaring while I sing and dance my way through cooking dinner. If it does give it a Mexican Restuarant flare then ALL THE BETTER. I love Mexican food and I love the positive vibe I get listening to the goings on coming from the kitchens in our local Mexican restuarants. Apparently my choice of color is right on...I just ran to get the swatch and it is called MEXICAN CHILE!! WOO HOO!!! As soon as I get the baseboards reinstalled and the paint on the walls I will post pictures. I'd hoped to have it done by now but THAT's A STORY FOR ANOTHER POST.

VG I've not read past 13:00 on Tuesday but I do hope you kept your RED. We can have matching kitchens.

LoveBuckets · 02/04/2009 21:22

Thanks for your kind wishes folks, it's just been one of those dramatic weeks, good things and bad though. Oh and I got a tax refund of £80 which hopefully will pay for my hairdo on Wednesday. I really do live a charmed life, just when I'm down something nice always happens fairly soon.

Cyteen Thanks for the song, made me laugh. Although I'm sure he'll be back to 'I was looking for a job and then I found a job, and heaven knows I'm miserable now' fairly soon.

Cavey, how many feeds a night does he have? If more than one, just think 6hrs is a reasonable time to go without and add an hour on to that each night.

Sazzles That is not naff, that is why everyone secretly wants 2 little girls and why we all wanted younger sisters (those of us without.) And the dresses in Sansbourgs are to die for, I even managed to convince my currently-dress-hating DD to let me buy her one last month. ('Dresses are posh eeuw, trousers are cool')

My friend who is 42 and has been trying for another baby for 2 or 3 years has finally decided to give up, she says she needs to move on and get her life back. She is the one I was nervous about telling when I got pg with Kurt by accident although she was pleased and loves him to bits. She would deffo be his godmother if we did that sort of thing - I should tell her that really shouldn't I? Anyway, she says she and her DH had a little cry and then had fantastic sex apparently LOL.

Bath time now, I don't half smell.

hotcrosspotter · 02/04/2009 21:26

You mean there was actually something good on tonight? Drat, I looked in the Radio Times and it all looked pants. Oh well.

Simnel those fishcakes sound yummy

Sazzles my mum used to dress me and my little sister in matching homemeade clothes in the 70s and although it might have been a bit naff the pictures are priceless now DD and DS combo just not the same.

TS not long to go now and it will be so worth it!

No1 hope your DS sleeps again. My DS had beef chilli and cheesy dumpling for tea, followed by a pot of fromage frais and a whole banana I'm hoping it'll help him sleep, will prob just give him tummy ache

No partying here tonight as the last few precious hours of my thirties slip away LOL I just keep remembering the alternative, and if I'd arrived on my due date I'd be 40+9 already so some consolation there . Am off for a walk round a local lake in the morning with MIL so she can take DD to nursery and DH can take me and DS to lunch then it's nursery graduation [wtf?] and picnic at 2pm, then home for fizzy booze of some kind and tea cooked by DH (hopefully from the chiller cabinet at M&S). Not quite a weekend in Paris but I'm sure it will be lovely

LoveBuckets · 02/04/2009 21:28

TS I so get you with the Mexican thing, we bought our house because the kitchen is painted terracotta! I am trying to get it looking like a Mexican cafe.

On the subject of kitchen design, has anyone gone from open shelves to wall cupboards (or vice versa?) I have most of my food on shelves and crockery on plate racks and hooks and it looks lovely and Bohemian. I had always dreamed of cupboards to hide it all but now I'm thinking I then wouldn't be motivated keep the contents in such good order. At the mo I have trained myself to empty packets into containers etc. Also might it lose the cosy Boho charm if it was all locked away?

hotcrosspotter · 02/04/2009 21:35

Well I've got a few jars and stuff on shelves, but most things in cupboards and they are not pretty

simnel303 · 02/04/2009 21:38

I had open shelves for the boho freedom but everything got covered in dust/grease - I am a regular slattern when it comes to cleaning so decided boho freedom was too much work . We are putting a new kitchen in next year, have no clue what we'll put in (have always put up with whatever monstrosity came with the house before) - quite grownup and exciting

hotcrosspotter · 02/04/2009 21:50

Ooh new kitchen, that's very grownup . I would love a dishwasher and lots more cupboards, will just have to be patient . Maybe a different kind of cooker hood next time too, I've one of those brushed steel chimney ones and it gets sticky greasy so quickly, or is that just me and my northern lard ways?

cyteen · 02/04/2009 21:52

The kitchen in our current house is rotting Wooden draining board (why?) - it's utterly revolting. How I dream of a proper grown-up kitchen.

hotter I beg to differ re. boy and girl matching outfits not being as cute...check this picture of me and my bro (There are better ones but impossible to hunt them out on my overcrowded laptop.)

hotcrosspotter · 02/04/2009 21:55

Awww Cyteen that's fab love your ice cream beard too

TwilightSurfer · 02/04/2009 21:56

Okay...Tuesday read!

Cyteen I love the outfit.

Sazzles crap on the scheduling. WTF! And you WERE right...my party is Saturday night. I am scheduled for events all day long Saturday. Plus I'm considering getting a room in town at the hotel where we having the party so I can crash afterwards, having no worries of a DUI aannnddd getting to induldge in an uninterrupted sleep. Oh and your DH was a wee bit tipsy for that call. You should have heard all the nonsense he and dh were chatting about that second night. GOOD LORD! I had to put a pillow over my head because I was afraid they'd hear me laughing. They sounded like a pair of sappy girls. OH THEY LOVE US SO MUCH. OH WE'VE GIVEN UP SO MUCH FOR THE CHILDREN. OH WE ARE THE BEST WOMEN EVER FOR TAKING ON SUCH LOWLY MEN AS THEM. BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH BLAH really i started to tape it so you could hear it too.

No1 and Pertelote GREAT NEWS!!

PF I'm going to have find time to check out that thread.

Now on to Wednesday....

LoveBuckets · 02/04/2009 21:56

Don't forget the extractor fan - I'm telling you people if you don't have one your whole house smells! You don't notice when you live in it but visitors do, it gets into all the textiles. Unless you are not a slattern and your house smells of nice things. Honestly do the test, next time you go into a house that always smells foody, see if they have an extractor fan.

PetitFilou1 · 02/04/2009 21:57

I'm going to bed but just popped on to say don't worry everyone I do only live about 50 yards from the school and was away for literally 5 minutes

Am thinking of posting elsewhere on MN about it just to see who jumps up and down and says 'but what if there was a fire/axe murderer/freak tornado' etc etc They are the same people who get their children out of the car when they get petrol....sorry if any of you lol

In the mood I'm in, I wouldn't mess with me though

buckets Pleased for you that dh has got the job

Too tired to notice much else so apologies. vg Yes that was the spelling and meaning I was intending (re the nerves and sibh)

Hope you all have a good night

TwilightSurfer · 02/04/2009 21:57
