whilst we all have our F&B colour charts out, ds's bedroom is 'Folly Green' - I had hoped the soothing green would prove soporific but that is not the case today. I have just plonked him in his cot and shut the door...surely he must conk out soon with exhaustion!!!

French Grey is very sophisticated. The living room in my old house was painted with dead salmon which really enhances paintings and ornaments. Am seriously in love with F&B, though dp is a bit about spending that sort of money on our current ex local authority abode.

wow ds asleep curled up at one end of his cot... phew!

simnel am glad your friend has found her way here, am sure they'll treat her well. Is DS possibly overtire/stimulated? am not sure how that observation helps but I understand your frustration

sazz feckers would you like me to track down the CEO and compose another harshly worded threatofmaiming letter?!

VG would you like us all to post up photos of our kitchen in a game of I'll show you mine if you show me yours kind of thing and BTW if you think thats messy there isn't a chance on hell I'm posting photos of my actual kitchen [meep]

hotter you've inspired me to sort out my mess roots

pf you need to stop it with the maternal guilt, I have come to the conclusion that I cannot do EVERYTHING now I have 3 but I have provided them with siblings which is a gift for life

TS talking of photos of kitchens COME ON WOMAN, we've all lived through this remodelling with you

Miamla · 31/03/2009 17:06

i'm close to tears with what might have just happened. Friend was playing with DS, throwing him in the air, DS loving it and giggling. She then took him for a walk around the room and threw him again but this time she was standing under the beam bit which is about a foot lower than the ceiling. DS millimeters away from hitting the ceiling. She's really embarrassed about it. DS absolutely fine and wondering why he's getting so many cuddles

i just can't believe she did it

Steaknife · 31/03/2009 17:25

Still only on page 9 - trying to distract baby with elle decoration, but she is eating it.

I say yes to a red wall, you can always put some large piece of furniture against it to break it up if it is too much.

Sazzles - Mansteak has much the same notion but with a mercedes hippy van. His friend has one, it has the water pipes through the roof so that it is solar heated water.

I am very keen to leave Babysteak with her dad for a day at the least, but MIL just used up some of the precious boob juice I had stockpiled agains unreasonable husbands nuclear emergencies, so back to the pump for me.

This afternoon I stripped all the wallpaper from the sitting room and FIL started painting the kitchen. I shall be following with interest all your kitchen makeovers.

simnel303 · 31/03/2009 17:27

dizzy yes, he is overtired and overstimulated - he has always been reliably good at napping but in the last 2 weeks has gone from 3-4 hours per day in hourly slots to less than an hour per day - today he slept 20 mins in the pram and 20 mins as posted above - he's exhausted but keeps jigging about excitedly in his cot, waving his arms when he;s close to sleep. I dont know what to do about it, I just sat him in his high chair and ignored got on with a few chores after spending about 1 hour trying to get him to sleep

miamla phew, disaster averted, I dont think she'll be throwing babies around much in future, hope you are ok now

simnel303 · 31/03/2009 17:30

steak er... did MIL drink/add to tea/spill accidently said boob juice?? Leaving dc with mansteak is a very good idea - over the weekend dp had ds 3 hours while I slept and came to the conclusion it's hard graft and now he understands why I have not finished the decorating/made curtains/completed my many crafty projects

sazzles I am still chuckling over a vision of you chucking your dh's stuff out the window

Steaknife · 31/03/2009 17:33

Simnel - lol no she was trying to get lil one to drink it. A bit from a cup, a bit from a magic cup, a bit from a spoon, but most going in the bin.
Right bath time here.

dizzychixies · 31/03/2009 17:52

oh miamla its not unreasonable to be upset, you must had got a fright, as did your friend - I bet the only one who didn't was DS

cyteen · 31/03/2009 18:09

simnel funnily enough my DS is having daytime sleep issues (again - yawn). There had better not be a 7 month sleep regression

Miamla glad to hear all you got was a fright. If it makes you feel any better I have caught myself doing a very similar thing [crap mother emoticon] and not just once either. Absentmindedness is not a parent's friend.

As a serial renter I don't feel able to comment on all the paint talk, although I did LOL at 'ER Red' and at Miamla trying to colour match with clutter.

Off to make DS his tea...poor boy will probably get toast and nothing else tonight

London Stone very nice VG a bit more earthy toned than statement

btw, shelves weren't expensive, just IKEA jobs which do the business

Miamla · 31/03/2009 18:47

thanks all for your kind comments. She's just phoned, apparently had knots in her stomach all the way home and its only just dawned on her what could have happened. I was more honest with her about how i felt about it and just started getting really angry about me making her feel worse. i don't want to fall out with her so told her everything's fine etc etc basically said what she wanted to hear. And yes you're right, DS is the only one not upset!

I had another friend who popped in while she was here and he saw it happen too so its not just me being neurotic! He made a very quick exit afterwards, i think he thought WW3 was about to start. DP angry with her and said she should know better especially since she's got a DS of same age.

anyhow, everything and everyone's ok so...back to VG's paintjob!

what i meant about faded red/orange looking good with clutter is that i see it as a homely colour and clutter is homely. Am i at the bottom of that hole yet? anyone got a ladder?

i love London stone, i think that will look amazing with the granite tiles. the red would look too heavy against the lightness of the rest of your kitchen

simnel303 · 31/03/2009 18:55

love london stone, my current living room is that shade! I do have a bright red wall in the spare room which is supposed to be the 'creative room' (currently full of boxes and 3 wardrobesful of clothes ).

vg I think you must be the blwfg - poor ds is having roast veggies....again!

Oh vg definitely NOT red. Your kitchen is so lovely and light! My kitchen is way messier too and has not been updated since the 1980s (hence me talking about the room that is to be our future kitchen) so I am absolutely not sharing any pictures either!

The London Stone is lovely but also any of the very pale f&b colours would be good (the ones on the top row) and more interesting than white/cream/off white.

Now, this is a pf theory but are you feeling a lack of excitement in your life atm as I suspect that is why you want red paint. Also feels a bit like when you shop for clothes just before you get your period and you have a tangerine silk mini dress moment and then wonder whythehelldidIbuythat

Steaknife · 31/03/2009 19:46

Having caught up I am changing my vote from the red to the blue tones.

Mansteak been much more helpful tonight and no huffing, puffing and eye rolling either. But then balsed it up by insisting that the table WILL go in the kitchen and the Welsh Dresser will go in the living room. Because he HAS to have a table in the kitchen.

And we can't make any decisions before hand because he will decide where things go when we move in.

Gah and splutter at his need to Alpha Male at something each day, its almost like I can see him lifting his tail and squirting.

I think that's me for the night, have to show willing and reduce visible mning.

Bonne nuit

PetitFilou1 · 31/03/2009 19:47

sazz vert de terre is really really lovely but very dark on the walls (I've tried in our bathroom!) Just so you know Our house just doesn't suit dark colours sadly

miamla Hope you are feeling the calm after the storm. Your poor friend she obviously feels really bad. At least he didn't actually hit the ceiling.
