I know exactly what you mean about the PMT HMM. I could feel myself getting being unreasonable and getting aggitated over nothing. I also get really depressed. My PMT used to start two weeks before my period, then I'd be ok during then two days after I would be really down again. I knew I was being nasty but couldn't help myself. I was thinking of taking the pill constantly to stop my periods, but the pill causes me to have constant PMT . It's so hard isn't it? To be honest when I cut out wheat, dairy and sugar my PMT disappeared. I'm not suggesting you do the same, but it might be worth considering diet as a form of therapy. Have you got a nutritionist near you? I only keep on about it because you are keen to avoid medication. I'm glad you're going to the gp, but obviously am so sorry you're still feeling down. It will get better and so will your poor body

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 19:04

Thanks MM x My mum had terrible PMT too and bad PND and my dad has severe depression so I've been expecting it TBH, I just wasn't expecting it to be like PMT, I thought I'd be crying all the time or something

aubergenie · 29/03/2009 21:09

I get really bad PMT too HMM. Like MM I found that keeping an eye on my diet really helped keep it in check. Also, when we'd been TTC for a while, I cut out wheat and sugar and got pregnant very quickly, so I think diet can make a big difference with these type of things. You may still decide to have a talking therapy or medication, but it could help.

Ds had his first solid food this weekend! He played with the broccoli then dropped it on the floor, had a little very ripe banana, then I gave him some baby rice. I basically loaded up the spoon for him and he grabbed it and started to try and feed himself.

I want to do BLW, but I'm feeling really worried about the choking thing, so am feeling a little shaky about it.

Thanks for the willy tutorial MM. Dp thinks the stuff we talk about on here is really funny.

star6 · 29/03/2009 21:32

aubergenie I hope someone wise will come along and advise... but I'm scared to death of choking now. I can handle choking on milk, he's done that loads of times... it's when there's a chunk in there and I know it needs to come out. Even though I know how to handle it now (thank you csws!) I still panic. Q choked on the tiniest bit of avocado that didn't puree completely this evening. His face was turning colours, I did what the video said, but it was still mad scary. gasping for air... it's absolutely heart stopping! Perhaps Q is just not ready? But he loves his purees!! How much cooled boiled water can you give them? I find a little bit (few sips) helps when he's eating for him to keep going - I think he just likes to be hydrated. He still takes just as much milk as before (along with the food) but I'm wondering how much water per day is too much?

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 21:36

Oh god, I have to cut out wheat and sugar too now?????

I'll ask the doc tomorrow, thanks.

Yay to solids Aubergenie!

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 22:00

Go to see someone first hmm. There is no point making yourself miserable if it's not going to help you. But if it's any consolation, you get used to it very quickly.

Star - CSWS is the weaning expert. I can only help with willies I'm afraid!

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 22:25

Ha ha. You should go on Mastermind MM

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 22:27

Heh heh. That would interesting!

aubergenie · 29/03/2009 22:30

I agree. Don't do anything rash HMM. Things are hard enough for you at the moment without making yourself more miserable.

Star - I've got a weaning book called Yummy Baby by nutritionist Jane Clarke and she says to continue with normal milk feeds at 6 months, and to introduce water as you increase the feeding. I would think that, as long as Q is still drinking plenty of milk, a little bit of water with his food is fine.

By the way - We were wondering about this before. I've just looked at what she says about bottled water and although she says tap water is better, she states that if you do need to/have to give mineral water then you should look for water with a maximum sodium level of 20mg per litre.

I'm knackered. Can someone make me go to bed please?

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 22:35

I've got that book too Aubergenie. Don't you just love Jane Clarke? I love her look. I want to look like her in ten year's time. I need someone to make me go to bed but for some reason I have been on MN more than usual over the past few days. I'm so tired my eyes are all blurry.

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 22:46

AUBERGENIE AND MM GO TO BED!!!!!!

I'm still feeding Poppy, she's really unsettled tonight

Marthasmama · 29/03/2009 22:51

Don't be angry with me hmm. I'll get my comuppance, M is bound to wake up just as I go to sleep. Plus DH is off far away again tomorrow morning so I'm spending time on MN while he watches Topgear

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 22:53

MM - don't make me come round there...[crossed arms and tapping feet emoticon]

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 23:25

She's gone to sleep, just put some new pics on FB from our walk this morning, i'm off to bed, night night all. MM- not a wink from you until at least 6 am tomorrow.

Honeymoonmummy · 29/03/2009 23:40

BTW, can chicken pox start with a few spots behind the ears? How does it normally start?

DH just told me he came into contact with chicken pox kids last week, he found a few spots behind Poppy's ear, she's been really irritable and had a few sniffles this past week, how does chicken pox usually start??? I'm going to take her to a breastfeeding coffee morning tomorrow but won't go if there's any chance...

CantSleepWontSleep · 30/03/2009 07:34

cp normally starts with a single 'mother' spot, most commonly on the torso. Within 24 hours of that lots of spots will appear. Grouchy yes.

More later - am on phone so slow to type and read.

Honeymoonmummy · 30/03/2009 08:23

Thanks CSWS. I've had a look this morning and the "spots" behind her ear are fading

jenwa · 30/03/2009 08:31

You lot were chatty last night

could you imagine if we did all live close, we would be camping at each others houses all the time

csws how is your house????
We are still redecorating the lounge after replacing the ceiling and that is stressing me out!

Going to have a lazy day today, no where to have to go and no point in doing housework when there is dust every where anyway

HM hope you feeling ok? Sounds like a good relaxing spa break would do us all good

Marthasmama · 30/03/2009 08:32

Hmm - What CSWS said! They look like mosquito bites when they first start. When ds had chicken pox I just thought he had been bitten! I did go to bed at about 11pm. M woke up straight away and took a little while to get back to sleep. She then woke up at 12am, then at 4.20 and decided that it was playing time until 5am then went to sleep on my arm in my bed until 7am. It's very cute but not very comfortable.

Got my smear this morning urrrghhhh! Must remember to wear a skirt rather than jeans!

jenwa · 30/03/2009 08:35

HM my sis suffers bad PMY like you say about a black mood. Best you go and get some advice and get things sorted. Tiredness can make you feel like it too. Have yourp eriods come back? Maybe thats another factor?
MM had given you good advice though, very helpful.
I do think though you are suffering alot with your aches and pains and lack of sleep being another factor is not going to help. HOpefully the drs can give you some advice.

Honeymoonmummy · 30/03/2009 08:39

No my periods haven't come back yet. It sounds like a nightmare Jenwa, I hope you get your lounge sorted soon! I'm gonna call the docs now, wish me luck!!!

Honeymoonmummy · 30/03/2009 08:42

Got an appt at 2pm

Marthasmama · 30/03/2009 08:58

Excellent news hmm. Let us know how you get on. I'll be thinking of you at 2 today.

M doesn't seem to want to eat when she's with me. I think she's confussed 'Hey! What you doing mummy? I know there's milk in there' She only eats for Daddy and Granny. Plus she does not have a clue about how to use a bottle. I tried to give her a drop of water but she just kept chewing on the teat. Looks like I'm staying in for another six months then.

Honeymoonmummy · 30/03/2009 09:11

Awww, bless. Maybe you could attach the puree to a straw coming out of your bra a la Meet the Fockers? (or was it the sequel? )

Marthasmama · 30/03/2009 09:18

I don't remember that hmm. Must have been Meet the Fockers as I've only seen that once but I have seen Meet the Parents a few times. I don't know where I'd fit any puree in my bra though. There's bearly enough room for my norks! She's now being typical Martha, sleeping when we've got to go out soon! She never sleeps when I need her too.... grrrrrr!
