Star your DH sounds like my DP. We?re also in a one-bed flat and he?d be really irritated if I got any more big plastic toys. We got a big wooden box from Ikea that we can shove everything in when S has gone to bed to give a semblance of tidiness. I have been offered a baby door bouncer on freecycle though, and I?m hoping that S will love it as he?s always wanting to stand up.

I?m sure he would LOVE a jumperoo, but I don?t think we?ve got room. Cherry, does it fold away easily/at all?

Pepper ? poor thing, you must be knackered. I hope you get some rest soon.

Myjob - Like I said last night on FB, M is a fussy little monkey too. She can entertain herself for a little bit longer when she's full and just woken up. Otherwise she wants to be carried round and cuddled all day. She gets really excited when I reach out to pick her up and she has started putting her arms up to be picked up. She has also started to cry everytime I leave the room. She watches me go, starts that fast breathing thing they do then bursts into heartbreaking sobs.

aubergenie · 12/03/2009 20:23

MM Stanley has started to cry when I leave the room too! My mum came down and took him for a walk the other day. He was fine and fell asleep, but when he woke up he seemed to have forgotten who she was and started sobbing. He sounded absolutely bereft by the time she got him home.

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 20:26

Aubergenie - It makes you feel , and all at the same time! I've always felt that dd showed a preference for DH or even sometimes my mum, but it's only me she cries for [smug].

Another fussy baby here. Poss not quite as bad as N, but won't be put down for very long happily. Dh keeps thinking it's only us who have such demanding babies, so he will be reassured to know that it isn't. I think that some of it at the moment is down to his teething (really dribbly today) and tiredness from not sleeping very well. Last night he was up from 1:30-about 3, and then again from 5:20-6:30, then was up for the day at 7:30.

I too had noticed your absence hmm. Are you back with us properly now?

pistachio - you surprise me! I gave ds some mush on a spoon today - mashed butternut squash as we had some left from last night's dinner. I fed him some and gave him the loaded spoon for the rest to feed himself. It was remarkably messy for just a few teaspoons . Perhaps he just wasn't in the mood today, so I didn't offer anything later except milk.

Q doesn't want to be put down either. I think babies in general don't like to be put down, right? I sort of thought it was normal
He will sometimes happily play with his hanging toys on his back for a bit (that's new and not consistent) but won't tolerate bouncy seat anymore and often doesn't even tolerate just holding him... often he wants us to be actually moving. he wants pretty much constant movement. Anyone else like this?
DH paces around holding him facing out, so Q is sitting on his hands. I'm not that motivated, I bounce him... but when he gets too fussy, get up and walk around! I know I know, horrid parenting. What Q wants Q gets. But... he's only a baby!!!!

star6 · 12/03/2009 21:03

Q has only been "chatting" for a couple of weeks and no where near a discernable word, myjob he doesn't sit unsupported, rolls only to the side and then gets stuckand doesn't even seem interested in rolling any further. VERY strong on his feet when we hold him and prefers to "stand up", grabbing stuff with accuracy (mostly) but forgets he has to hold on sometimes... and other times won't let go He's started trying to sit up when he's at an angle, but can't quite do it yet. head control is good.
That's what seems normal to me...

Yes!! Q LOVES books! I think it's because we're constantly shoving them at him, though - both schoolteachers here lol. We must get these babies together!!

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 21:29

Star - I think it's just the age they're at re: the wanting to be on the move all the time. They are old enough to need lots of stimulation and to get bored very easily, but not old enough to do anything about it for themselves. From 4 months until they are mobile, they are very demanding as you have to constantly amuse them.

Myjob - M rolls to one side, loves to stand up, does amazing sit-ups, can do push-ups now too, but every time I try to get her to sit she just throws herself backwards as she wants to stand up again. She is also a very good talker, she makes a sound like hello when we say hello to her. It's the same sound pattern rather than the same letter sounds iyswim. I think that girls are better with the social aspects of development whereas boys a generally better at the physical. DS never had little chats with us but was rolling at 16 weeks, sitting at 22 weeks, crawling at 27 weeks and walking at 10 months.

CSWS - I showed my mum the vid of D eating broccoli. When I told her he is one day younger than M she was ed! She was very impressed with his dexterity.

aubergenie · 12/03/2009 21:31

Myjob - Does N like lying down without a nappy on? I only ask because S much prefers going on his blanket with no nappy and will lie there much longer than with one on. I think he likes to have a bit of air circulating round his bits!

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/03/2009 21:33

Wouldn't you just love to get all our babies in the same room together?!

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 21:35

That's boys for ya. Any excuse to get it out! I have video footage of DS with nicely covered bits (no nappy but babygro covering them). He was four months old and while my Dad was filming him, he pulled his babygro up and then started wiggling back and forth as if to wave his willy at us . I'll keep that for when he brings his first girlfriend home...

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 21:36

Yes CSWS - It would be lovely to see them all in the flesh.

Q loves to be naked, too. He's wanted this constant motion since he was born. Someone once suggested an inner ear problem and movement distracts and soothes? But no way to check that I guess. Or gp won't.
He now will be on his own for a little. It doesn't last long, but longer than previously for sure!
How fun that would be to get all of our babies in the same room!!!

star6 · 13/03/2009 08:25

Thanks, CSWS - so you're volunteering to host an October 08 Postnatal gathering at your house? How nice of you!

jrsqueak · 13/03/2009 08:29

hi all.
Not posted for ages - glad everyone is doing well and am secretly glad its not just mine that won't sleep.
I get married in 4 weeks hence so busy and 3 children - no time for mn. Joshua has got chicken pox - poor thing. We are waiting for an appointment for the paedetrician for his eczema/milk allergy

Marthasmama · 13/03/2009 08:30

Star - I think she has the space.......

CantSleepWontSleep · 13/03/2009 08:50

Don't joke star - the 6 friends plus baby that are visiting this weekend are from my Feb 06 post-natal group . It's the second time we've done it, but everyone leaves the children behind .
