Afternoon all, just back from dentist, mouth completely numb again but all over now tahnk goodness.
smudgy glad you had a good holiday, I'm thinking of getting a coil, let me know what you think and be honest about how much it hurts - if it does! good luck.
Pink bunnies very cute, DD loves the soft cloth things we call them cuddlies, she has to have one to go to sleep. You can put her down awake as long as she has a cuddly and a dummy - v high maintenance if she wakes up though as you ahve to locate both in the dark to settle her.
Another terrible night with the pox, got to have a lie down in th dentist chair tho.DH off today as pulled something in his back - can't even pick DD up so fat lot of use he was last night !

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/03/2009 20:09

Ds went to bed at 6:15 (though woke for a few mins at 7). Could be in for an early morning! Eek!

I'll just feel smug for a moment then that both of our 'baby' chairs are suitable until at least age 2.

Does he have an activity station pistachio? Or a playpen which you could put the ring in to protect him from dd?!

We do have this problem at bathtime though. His sitting isn't really good enough yet for that mothercare thing that I linked to ages back, but he's a bit too mobile for his bath seat, and we have to keep lifting him back up into position in it.

I'm guessing you're planning blw pistachio? You don't really need any kit to take for that do you, except maybe a bib? Although good on you for waiting until 26/7 weeks. He's obviously doing just fine on your milk from the look of him .

I have bought a Loola pushchair as it can go front and rear facing. I do miss my pram though.

Thank you for the advice re Bf and weaning. William is waking up alot at night again. I think it is because he just isn't feeding long enough during the day. I am going to move him into his own room next week. After my sister has taken her children back home. I am going to need a good sleep by then.

I have had used the coil for years. 8 years I think. In that time I have had 4 fitted. The first time was painful. But not unbearable. Ibuprofen will deal with it ok. I had one fitted in December. I had bleeding and spotting for at least 9 weeks. Even now I have no idea if I have restarted my periods or if it is the coil making me spot! I dont mind because I know I will not get pregnant. Unlike the pill, which I have to thank for DD1

Ekka, yes please to the sweet pots and squash. Also yes please to your NCT weaning advice.

CSWS, Duncan is a very clever boy. What do you put in your milk?

Star I have to second the wise words re feeding. The more you hover and fuss a child when they are feeding, the more the child will mess about.
Look up Dr Tanya Byron. She is a Goddess among the child "experts".

HMM lovely hair

SmudgeyDoodle · 11/03/2009 21:41

Well I'm a naughty girl and in the bad books with the doctor. I didn't get a coil fitted today as we weren't as careful as we should have been whilst on holiday and you need to have abstained from sex or used a reliable contraceptive for 3 weeks prior. We plain forgot and apparantly b/f every 2 hours night and day doesn't count as reliable enough. Thanks for your experiences Ronshar. I've heard some tales about getting it out being a problem??
DDs party trick is shaking her head. DS thinks it's hilarious to offer her food and then she shakes her head. Sounds like if it was most of your LO, they would be nodding and taking the food
Congrats on having D in his own room CSWS. We're thinking of it for DD but at the moment she's still in our bed for about half the night and we need to sort out rooms for her to have somewhere to sleep. We still hope to move but I can't see it happening very quickly. Saying that, it's more likey than us actually sorting out the spare room.

OMG watching desparate Housewives. Gabbies eldest daughter is horrid. But yet so reminds me of my DD1 when she is in a foul mood

ronshar · 11/03/2009 22:54

Smugdy I had to re read your post several times. I thought you said you had been BDing every 2hrs. No wonder you need a coil.
The taking out is normally ok. Not normally as uncomfortable as the going in! Depends on cervix position and number of children etc.
As I am now on baby number 3 my cervix could'nt close if it wanted too.

Myjob. If Naomi has a cold then her nappy will be a bit grim. The small bits of finger food that she has eaten so far shouldn't upset her tummy. It does take a little while for their digestive systems get used to stuff other than milk.

I have found a lovely dairy free first baby cereal packet if you are interested HMM. It is by HIPP and is Banana and Peach. You only add water. Most of the packets you have to add water and milk.

ronshar · 11/03/2009 22:55

Sorry Smudgey, not smugdy

jenwa · 12/03/2009 08:54

myjob dont worry what other people say, there is no point in rushing it and he will be ready when he is, people can judge too quickly and tell you what to do far too easily. Try not to worry and maybe wait for the summer now when he can just sleep in pull ups or brave pants and leave a potty next to him and see what happens. Just take your time.

MM sorry, but I am looking forward to the lie ins although can imagine I will be awake early!

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 09:15

Myjob - I second what Jenwa says about not rushing DS. It ends up being counter productive as they get stressed about wetting the bed which makes them....you've guessed it, wet the bed! My DS was in pull ups at night until he was 3.5 then he insisted on wearing pants under his PJs ubtil he was 4.5. We stressed and stressed about his potty training but in the end we gave up trying and he did it all by himself on his own terms. Take comfort from the fact that Huggies make PJ pants in sizes big enough to fit you! Boys are notorious for being difficult to potty train, he get there eventually.

Jenwa - Whenever DH lets me lie in I ping awake and can't get back to sleep, so yes I would probably wake up early too!

ronshar · 12/03/2009 09:49

AAAAAARRRRRGGGG William was awake at 3 & 5 again last night. What on earth can I do to stop it. He is genuinely hungry so not even a comfort issue!
My girls were so much easier.

I hope everyone else had a better night.

I feel your pain ronshar. M woke at 12, 1, 2, 3.30 and then decided that 6 was getting up time. Yay . I feel like the living dead. She won't sleep in the day either so no chance of a catch up. My DS was so much easier once he had passed the three month stage. If you find something that works please let me know!

We are still in a one bedroom maisonette... nowhere else to put Q!
I'm so upset that I've missed desperate housewives for so long! I can't keep up. I go to bed soooooooo early!

star6 · 12/03/2009 14:37

I'm a bit neurotic about too much of a mess...
that is what worries me most about weaning if I'm honest
DH is so relieved we didn't get the activity station.. he won't say it but I could read his face. He didn't want any other contraption. As it is, we have everything in an easy place to put away and take out as needed so as to remain clutter free. I can't imagine that will last into toddler years. Or maybe our toddler will be the most organized and tidy toddler in the world [dreaming emoticon]

pepperrabbit · 12/03/2009 14:40

myjob a close friend of mine has a DS of nearly 5 who still wears a night nappy and even still has regular accidents during the day (at school). The HV and paediatrician have all confirmed he's fine, just hasn't "got it" yet. His younger sister has been nappy free for nearly 12 months!
I've been up pretty much since Monday now and am in a twilight zone. On the bright side, we should be over the worse with the pox and DH's back is slightly better. I haven't been terribly symapthetic to him tbh but he's clearly in pain. Have just squirted Deep Heat all over his back as I told him he had a responsibility to get better and help with the kids! Boy does he stink now!

CherryChoc · 12/03/2009 15:52

We have got Ryan a jumperoo (from ebay - I bought it as a buy-it-now as I was fed up of being outbid too!) as I thought they looked quite good fun. He loves it and worked out how to bounce in about 2 days!!

He was sitting in it just now and I'd balanced his singing cube thing on the edge, he kept trying to lean forward to taste it (he does this with everything!) so I offered him the dummy but wasn't interested. Then finally he got the angle right and spent the next 30 seconds fervently licking the shiny fish on the side of the toy. I was PMSL and he just looked at me as if to say "What??" and carried on!

His other new trick is to go "Brrrr brrrrrr brrr" like a telephone, because I discovered that making a brrrr noise (as in brrrrr it's cold) and varying the pitch made him laugh - so he copies it now!

Honeymoonmummy · 12/03/2009 15:53

Ronshar are you trying to pimp Poppy into weaning??? Just cos you've fallen off the solids bandwagon doesn't mean you have to drag everyone else down!!

I've not been on here much in the last few days, bet you all thought I'd been snapped up to advertise for Head and Shoulders Pantene didn't you??

I've had a busy few days, long story. I took Poppy swimming yesterday tho with all 4 grandparents, Poppy and I were the only one in the pool, cue me feeling a tad embarrassed in my jelly belly wrapper swimming costume.

CherryChoc · 12/03/2009 15:55

Oh and we haven't really started weaning yet either, Ryan has nicked a few bits of food and tasted them but hasn't swallowed anything yet. (I am confused now... does that mean we have started or not? We are doing BLW so technically I suppose he has started himself!)

Marthasmama · 12/03/2009 16:29

Oh dear Pepper. You must be feeling truly wonderful! I've had about 14 hours of sleep in total this week but I bet that sounds like bliss to you at the moment. Hopefully they'll all be better soon and you can spend days in bed recovering!

I was wondering where you were Hmm. I had noticed you weren't around. Still haven't taken M swimming,, not that I would be taking her. I'd get harpooned or they'd mount some elaborate rescue to get me back out to sea.

CC - I am going to get a Jumperoo but have to find somewhere to put it first! Hee hee at DS trying to 'eat' the fish. My DS loved anything orange when started weaning, sweet potato, carrot, butternut squash.... He had an octopus toy which had an orange crab on it. He used to go crazy trying to eat that crab .

CherryChoc · 12/03/2009 18:01

MM - the fish is blue with a shiny silver body!! I have never fed him such things
