Have surgically removed dd from my nipples to put her to bed Honestly does the girl not realise that she is only 15 weeks tomorrow not 16? I should have another week of respite before the growth spurt darn it!

Not that non-spurt is respite really Her sleep is somewhat variable to put it mildly.

You lucky lot all off to Cornwall, tis a part of the country I would love to visit.

House viewings fun The one I linked to is fantastic and we are going to get a second viewing booked for Saturday and this week's task is to get our deposit all into easy access accounts and get a mortgage agreement in principle so we can put a serious offer in. They already have an offer accepted for the house but there is a chain involved so fingers crossed us being chain free willmake them want us!

Ds had an mishap with the cobbles in town on Tuesday. You should see his head

Not that he cares we went to visit FIL yesterday for a big family get together, he had a great time grabbing the hand of the nearest person and making them play with him and eating a stupid amount of chicken. This afternoon he was telling me all about "gdad charlie, kickins! ah kickins charlie" He did his first easter egg hunt too and FIL had wrapped up kiwis

LenniEd · 06/04/2009 19:43

Indith - good luck with the house, sounds lovely. Your post about the growth spurt has reminded me I must start expressing again (DS 13wks) to up supply in preparation, got me through the last one a treat. Plus I'm using more EBM lately - less easy to feed in public in sunny weather I've found without all the layers of clothing. Plus DS seems to be thirsty if I keep him outdoors bless him.

Sorry to hear about DS's head - poor mite. But kiwis are a fab idea, might be stealing that one.

Think I'm going to order one of those seat back DVD players for the cornwall trip - and I'm going to drive the first leg down to my Mum's through the night. Am actually considering by-passing my Mum and heading straight there via a travelodge type place on the way saving me the hour off the motorway and back. We'll see.

Cornwall (sigh) sounds so lovely, a good friend of mine lives near Truro too. With her dt's, she hasn't met mine yet but don't think i can face the drive from here with 4 in the back!

Good luck on the growth spurt/sleep/house buying indith, the last sounds v.exciting for you all!

Haven't managed to express in weeks, where is that pesky breast pump, so kudos to you for managing it lennied & indith. DD is so quick now (5 mins during the day) I don't really mind whipping em out more often

right, gave em some roasted carrot this aft. Not too bad, just really weird not spoon feeding some baby rice/ready brek etc. DD looked so excited though I'm fairly sure no actual food entered her belly.

castles & eli enjoy your hols!!!

castlesintheair · 06/04/2009 21:39

Oooh, all this larking about over long car journeys. My top tip: put em in the back and drive. It made me chuckle when a friend went into rhapsodies over my driving up to Scotland with DCs alone when she has to make at least 2 stops (why?) when she visits her ILs 2 hours drive from home

castlesintheair · 06/04/2009 21:41

Am staying near(ish) to Bude btw, Eli.

LenniEd · 06/04/2009 21:44

Castles - yes I am inclined towards larking about over it. DD screams when she's been sat down for more than 30 minutes - literally screams, high pitched and deafening. And of course DS sleeps through that without a sound - like heck he does. So I get stereo screaming/wailing. Oh, I love travelling with them. at 2 stops in 2 hours though!!

Elibean · 06/04/2009 22:23

AQ, I'll keep my eyes open for sight of lady with dts near Truro then

Indith, good luck with the house! Look forward to hearing update on return.

Am rushing now, packing reluctantly but unstressfully completed, dds asleep, dh hoovering to leave house in view-able state (worst part)....but have great time Castles, and happy Easter everyone, and see you in ten days or so.

Unless dh brings his laptop, in which case...

Elibean · 06/04/2009 22:23

ps truth be told, I hate driving for more than a couple of hours myself - give me a boat or a train anyday!

Indith · 07/04/2009 13:14

Lol at driving with kids. DD is our limiting factor now. Think we broke ds when we went to France as he can manage some pretty long stints no trouble. Dd though screams unless she is due a nap anyway in which case she sleeps. We've had to stop in the 2.5 hours to my parents' house because she has been screaming so much. And on the 1 hour from my gran. I dread the trip to Wales in May. Ds you could stop and feed after 2 hours then he would sleep again but madam says that once she has had a sleep she doesn't want another one thank you very much and why are putting me back in that horrid seat mummy I want ot kick around on the floor Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Think I shall end up in the back somehow.

Lennied I find it much easier to feed when sunny, not so many layers in the way No shame me, my norks come out wherever.

Am not expressing really at the moment, partly because if I do it in front of ds he throws a paddy if I don't let him drink it and I just don't get anything worth keeping inthe evening but also because she won't bloody take it! What is it with my children and bottles? Both have been presented with them pretty early on but no. Tried dd on formula yesterday to see if she would take it if it was different but nope. She doesn't mind, she just plays with it and grins then after 10 mins says "oi where is the real milk" and tries to latch on to whoever is holding her. I wouldn't mind but I have a full day training in June.

Ah well, just put dd down so best go hang washing and other such useful tasks.

jabberwocky · 07/04/2009 14:49

In-car dvd player is a must for us

jabberwocky · 08/04/2009 13:54

So is everyone on holiday now?

Indith · 08/04/2009 15:14

I'm not on holiday

Dd has been screaming for most of the day, I think she is teething. Teething does not combine well with growth spurts. Ds has been tantruming all day too because his sister is screaming and it is soooo cold and windy we have not really been out. fun

jabberwocky · 08/04/2009 17:16

I don't miss those days! Have you tried the wet-washcloth-in-the-refrigerator teether trick?

accessorizequeen · 08/04/2009 19:58

I'm definitely on holiday either
Ergh, teething. Poor Indith. Someone raved to me about those teething granules, which I have bought but haven't put them in dd's mouth yet (lucky she's not actually screaming with the teething, just looks grumpy all day).
Need to go cheer myself up although I didn't have day from hell at all (except ds2's 3 hour non-stop tantrum/negotiate/tantrum etc ad infinitum until mummy explodes from frustration at bedtime). Just can't lift my mood, and considering ad's just so I'm not crying every single day. God knows why I am as dt's are delicious, dd feeding like an angel, sleep's ok and ds1 behaving himself off school. Must be ds2 then Or the fact that I have no life, am fat and looking decidedly old too.
[accessorize scurries back in her hole]

EustaciaVye · 08/04/2009 20:11

Hi All.

Forgive me for not keeping up with thread. Have night to myself as DH out.

AQ - sounds like you may have a touch of PND. Or it could be sheer exaustion. Trip to GP wouldnt hurt.

Not much to report here. Hope all is well.

LenniEd · 08/04/2009 20:21

Agree with EV AQ, trip to GP in order me thinks.

I'm not on holiday either - but it is my birthday tomorrow! So I'll be on children duties holiday from about 5pm-7pm yay! Was hoping for a nice family day out but looks like weather has scuppered plans, will have to wait for it to pick up.

Teeth - yes, may be suffering with those here too. DS got temp and due for jabs tomorrow. Think I'm going to delay them as don't want to take chance that it's teeth when it might not be. He's got very red bottom gum though and little white bits which I'm sure is a tooth, but can't be sure.

AQ You know I've been back on AD's since ds2 was quite new. I finally decided that my body was permanently changed chemically (well and lots of other ways!) after ds1 was born and I am now resigned to being on AD's forever. I just feel much more normal and can handle things better.

accessorizequeen · 08/04/2009 20:37

nice to see you back, EV
thanks, all. I started ringing gp this morning and hung up, I don't want to go on them at all but don't know what else to do. I know they've made a big difference to you, jabber, I just felt as though I'd beaten depression (no recurrence for about 3 years) iyswim.
not really that exhausted, well mentally yes I guess.
Happy birthday for tomorrow, Lennied! Teeth what do you mean teeth, mine are 6 months and no sign of any!

EustaciaVye · 09/04/2009 08:19

AQ - when I had mild PND after DD1 my GP didnt recommend ADs. He suggested talkining, getting out, exercise etc. Just having it recognised made me feel better alreday as I knew it wasnt me just being miserable for the sake of it iykwim. GPs dont always prescribe ADs but if they do it might not be for too long either.

Indith · 09/04/2009 14:31

Happy birthday Lennied!

AQ get thee to the Dr. You don't need us to tell you there is no shame in PND.

Have been to soft play today with ds. Thankfully both are now napping because ds was up at 5.45 today which is just not fair when I'd only put dd back down at 5.20 and dh was away overnight.

Ooops spoke too soon.

Ds awake, floods of tears stemmed by Something Special and a jammy dodger. Dd resettled after her usual attempt to wake after one sleep cycle

bebespain · 09/04/2009 21:26

Hi all!
Just a very quick pop-in from me, no time to catch up properly (sorry!)
Been very busy with some visitors from England and now the in-laws - hectic!

All well (fat and knackered actually!) and DS very happy being fused over, again!

Enjoy the Easter Break everybody
I´ll be back.....

jabberwocky · 10/04/2009 00:38

Happy Birthday LenniEd!

castlesintheair · 10/04/2009 10:46

Am on holiday though am always on-line. Just about to head off to Cornwall with the DCs

AQ, look after yourself. You don't have to be on ADs forever and they are not an admission of failure, just a little pick-me-up.

LenniEd · 12/04/2009 20:26

Hi all, thanks for the birthday wishes and hope the holidays are lovely - nice weather for it.

Hope you are ok there Bebe - it gets hard at the end doesn't it?

Am not around much at the moment as MN is really slow for me lately - takes forever to load a page and I lose patience. Anyone else having issues?
