Morning all

Bizarrely DD2 slept for 2 hours after school run so have managed to clean 2 bathrooms, downstairs loo, quick tidy of kitchen and main bedroom. AND had time to mooch on MN and check emails. Yay.

DD2 is now up and we have had a lovely time doing jigsaws (I had no idea she could do them so well ) and making and eating lunch together. Now I feel guilty as all too often I shove the TV on to get on with jobs around the house (double)

Eli - hope migraine passes.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 05/03/2009 20:00

Hope all is well Castles. My friend is awaiting a decision. They are investigating a bit more into the circumstances.

Dd2 likes sitting on the toilet but doesn't do anything! Roll on summer!

Ooh Oli - can I borrow your dd?

accessorizequeen · 05/03/2009 20:22

finally have decent internet connection back again, yippee. Pity i need to go straight to bed as spd playing up so much couldn't walk by tea time urgh. Physio says I need to reduce my workload - how would I manage that then?!
castles, what's the news today?

hope migraines better, eli, very debilitating.

how old is your dd again, oli, my ds who is 5 can't clean himself up properly much less tackling ds2!

Elibean · 05/03/2009 20:54

Thanks for well wishes, they worked, migraine gone apart from lingering icky feeling - manageable.

Am very impressed by toilet-training-jigsaw- doing two year olds

Mine is expressing herself incredibly fluently and confidently (a legacy of tonsil-lessness, methinks) but can't do stairs on her own yet, and will inform me when she's done a fart, but lie when she's done a poo ....I do love this age!

Castles, how did today go?

Don't dare stay on computer too long in case of replay, but will catch up tomorrow!

Olihan · 05/03/2009 21:08

AQ, dd is 3.6 and FAR better at cleaning up herself (and ds2) than 5.2yo ds1. I think it's a girl thang (maternal, independent and bossy) .

Margo, I don't mind hiring dd and her potty training skills out for a small fee. Sign up here_

Eli, glad you're better.

EV, I'm guilty of the same. DD teaches ds2 far more than I do

LenniEd · 05/03/2009 21:34

Castles - Hope everything ok today.

Wow to the potty trainers. Am also holding off til summer. Want to wait as long as I can in the vague hope that it'll mean it is all over quicker. Not sure it works like that though.

Glad you are... well again Eli
back Oli (and I'm in love with the Ameda pump )
connected again AQ... and SPD still you poor poor woman, I couldn't bear to still have that. I hope you manage some rest.

EV - am also guilty of too much tv to get things done. Am limiting to 1hr a day now to save me getting over reliant.

Away working a tradeshow from tomorrow, have good weekends all.

jabberwocky · 06/03/2009 01:16

Am at the pottty trainers. I'm holding off until summer. I just can't take on one more project right now....

Trip had its ups and downs. The first day of the conference was really good. Some good lectures and news of some research that is finally looking at the biochemistry of kids on the spectrum as well as the Gut/brain/immune triad.

I've lost the link to the dreamers thread castles. Will see if I can find it. It seemed to be really quiet when I was on so I thought it had died off.

accessorizequeen · 06/03/2009 07:21

Thought your ds's were same age as mine except you had a dd in between!

took dt's to dp's work today so he could show them off and they performed a treat - didn't stop grinning and giggling for nearly 30 mins. Someone asked if they're like that at home. Yeah, right. Bless em though.

indith, how is bfing going?

castlesintheair · 06/03/2009 12:34

DH still has a job Thanks for thinking of us everyone. No bonus though so we will be moving in September to another rented place Probably a cardboard box on the Chiswick roundabout ...

castlesintheair · 06/03/2009 12:35

... oops posted too soon ... given what the @&!!ing BoE have done to the interest rate again today

jabberwocky · 07/03/2009 03:16

too soon for move?

September is way far away in this financial climate...

jabberwocky · 08/03/2009 15:55

Where is everyone?

LenniEd · 08/03/2009 16:28

I'm back but very very tired will catch up tomorrow... besides which I smell toddler poo ... sigh

Elibean · 08/03/2009 16:45

Welcome back LenniEd

Castles, v glad dh still has his job! September does seem a long way away, but then again...Easter is zooming in on us. Might the cost of rentals drop, though, like many other things...?

On subject of houses, we've seen a very nice wreck in a road we like, and are meeting there with a surveyor/builder tomorrow to see if our wild, sudden plans to create our long-term dream home are mad or only a bit mad. We'd have a lot more control over what we pay for, if we were doing it up from nearly scratch - but its a lot of work. We have a (low, obviously) offer on ours.

Hey Jabber, how'd the rest of your house-sale go?

AQ, your post made me ...I wonder if you could find a way of tricking the DTs into thinking they're at dp's work every day?!

jabberwocky · 08/03/2009 17:15

house-sale...had over a dozen calls to and from realtor on Friday as buyers had closed on their house and wanted to move into ours but we don't close until Monday. After going over various scenarios, none really good, I finally consulted with my attorney who said "Absolutely not". But this was after 5 very stressful hours that really should never have even occurred So fingers crossed we close on Monday as per the contract.

Ds2 started running a fever again. I am quite at a loss as have never experienced such sickness. He seems fine today but last night was very tiring.

I love the phrase "nice wreck of a house". Reminds me of the initial condition of the one we just moved out of. I told dh I do not have the mental strength to go through another 7 year renovation - ever.

Elibean · 08/03/2009 21:51

Urgh, the house stuff is stressful, isn't it?

I'm so sorry ds is unwell again, Jabber, here's hoping for you have an easier night tonight.

We are down to one runny coughy snotty cold here, which is the best we've done as a family for MONTHS

Indith · 09/03/2009 16:21

Have just been scared by the cbeebies advert! the number rap does not go well with the Kate Rusby I was playing!

How is everyone?

I think we have cracked the feeding this past week, it has gone much better. Am feeling slightly guilty re dd though as I just discovered a chin I didn't know she was hiding among her other chins and it is all red and sore

Ds has turned into a boy. My extremely careful child who asks to hold hands to go over a join between grass and tarmac just in case it has a hidden step or something rode his ride on car out the back door and down the step. It resulted in him going splat on the patio with his car on top and a very bloody nose! Bless him.

Hope bugs, houses, twins, babies and toddlers are all ok.

castlesintheair · 09/03/2009 18:01

That cbeebies advert really pisses me off. I get a blast everytime my cursor on my new laptop (did I mention I have a new laptop? ) passes over it.

Hello Indith. So pleased the feeding is improving. Sorry to hear about DS's nose poor wee lamb and DD's hidden folds. One of the many pitfalls of newborns!

Everything great here. Am I the only one? Sorry to hear about all the bugs. Spring is here (well it is here anyway) so I'm sure they will all be disappearing soon.

I wonder how BP, Bebe etc are? Drums fingers ...

jabberwocky · 10/03/2009 02:17

Indith, glad to hear the feeding is better.

Well, ds2 is on a second antibiotic. The doc was sympathetic to the fact the he will be on an airplane in less than two days and no one wants him to be there with an ear infection.

One problem now, his sleeping has gotten completely eratic with this illness and now he is not going down and inevitably winds up sleeping with us. which means, of course that he is then the only one who gets any sleep.

Is that a new laptop you're typing on, castles?

accessorizequeen · 10/03/2009 09:32

god how stressful all this going on whilst you're on a trip, jabber, you must be dying to get back home again! Hope ds2 improves soon.

Indith, dd had the same chin discovery at that age - dp & I felt so bad! Sudocrem sorted it out quicksmart though and she seems to have fewer chins now although lovely dimply fat thighs . So glad feeding better for you, makes such a difference. But sorry about ds's nose, urggh. I can't see ds2 becoming a boy anytime soon but he could surprise me!

best go and do some chores whilst the dt's have their morning nap. am finding things pretty hard going at the moment with depression and spd both of which are getting worse. But trying to fight both as have been here before of course. Have a lady coming to see me about PND on Thurs, hopefully that will help although she was just bloody annoying on the phone tbh , otherwise I shall have to get on anti-d's as I'm finding it difficult to smile and talk to the dt's now and that's no good for them. Castles, didn't you go on ad's at this point with dd2 - did they help? V.glad to hear that dh is still with job btw and still waiting to hear about your new career, presumably when dd2 starts nursery later this year?

castlesintheair · 10/03/2009 13:39

Poor Jabber & DS2. Hope the ab's help and make the trip less painful. Btw, homeopathy really fixed DS's recurrent ear infections. He hasn't had anything like that for over 2 years now.

Sorry AQ Who is the lady that is coming to see you about PND? Yes, I went on ADs when DD2 was about 6 months. I'd really recommend it as it got me through all the tough baby/dealing with toddler/DS SN stuff. I came off them in the summer and really am fine now. Having psycho-therapy has helped me but that is un-PND related. I went on very mild 10mg paroxetine that are usually prescribed for anxiety. You really have your hands full. There is nothing to be ashamed of. They help you cope when things are tough and give you the clarity to start enjoying it all. For me I really started to appreciate how lovely my DCs are and stopped being all shouty and stressed. You can always talk to me off-line, you know where I am.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/03/2009 19:34

Poor LittleJabber. Hope he's better soon - Did you go to see a homeopath Castles? DH has a throat infection (for about 4 weeks now) and the abs aren't working

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/03/2009 19:46

Oops posted too soon! (dished up dinner)

AQ - If I was in your shoes, I don't know whether I'd actually realise I needed help, or even how to go about it, even though we talk about it on here. I'm glad you're taking steps to ensure PND won't control you.

castlesintheair · 10/03/2009 21:09

Margo, yes, I took DS to homeopath for recurrent ear infections/ABs. Really recommend it. He hasn't been ill at all for over 2 years. Not even a cold. I know it's a load of ole hocus pocus but it really works on children. Something to do with their 'pure' systems. Certainly doesn't work on my contaminated one.

Elibean · 11/03/2009 10:28

Nor mine, Castles, nor mine

AQ, I do hope the pnd woman isn't as annoying in rl. Mind you, if she is, I am a firm believer in getting angry being a good alternative to depression - you could just shout at her Seriously though, I hope she helps, but if not, I would give ADs a go...they helped dh a lot a couple of years after his brother died, just like Castles said: he described it as having a leg in a cast while it healed. Not fixing anything, but just sort of supporting.

Indith, hurrah for better feeding and dd1 also had one of those vanishing red chins...in her case, a touch of canesten was needed, then it went. Hope ds's nose is ok, bless him

Hello Margo

Jabber, poor you and poor ds, another bug?? Hope the ABs do the trick, in time for the flight.

More or less ok here, dd2 has cough/cold but nothing awful...another dream house (the wreck project) fallen through, another buyer (on ours) fallen through, bit miserable but its my birthday, and the dds have showered me with flowers, so am fixing a to face and assuming the spirits will follow!
