I miss yoga I used to be so regular and even taught for a short while. I just can't seem to find the time. I worked an hour's commute away 7 out of 9 days and today I just wanted to stay in bed all day. I don't normally do that kind of schedule but the money was just too good to pass up

Elibean · 30/03/2009 10:47

Yoda I like that.

Pulled muscle in back in enthusiastic move to brush dd's hair this morning: cue me on all fours panting 'dd...get daddy...can't move...' and feeling very silly. I clearly need to join in the Yoda-ing and get a stronger back.

AQ, lol at hiding upstairs doing something important - very useful skill that, use it frequently (usually whilst MNing upstairs while dh tears hair out downstairs). I'm glad you had a good night out with your very young Mum!

Elibean · 30/03/2009 10:47

Jabber you must be exhausted. Was it a one-off week?

Indith · 30/03/2009 13:12

Night out without talking about children AQ? Sounds amazing

Jabber you must be shattered, hope you get some rest.

I'm with AQ on palming toddlers off at the weekend. I tell my boys to go have some boy time (and if it involves leaving the house with dd in the p&t too then so much the better!) Ds very much 2 years old, has developed a horrible tone of voice that makes him sound like he is about to burst into tears as he mumbles "oh no, oh dear oh oh oh oh oh" and keeps coming and getting me and dragging me places and insisting on this spoon or that cup or grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Hope all the bugs/pulled muscles/stress improve. A few glasses of alchomahol sounds good to me (well in my case a thimblefull of gin, more and I'll be under the table...where did my Russia acquired vodka proof tummy go?)

We have a viewing for the house on Sat, and another in the same in the village which is very similar and has solid fuel central heating and another in the neighbouring village, and a mortgage person coming round on Thurs......scary!

I can't be considering buying a house! Way too grown up! My older siser is having a fling with her driving instructor fgs how did I end up being a grown up?

Children both napping, woohoo! Ds has refused to nap all week and spend the afternoons in meltdown but mummy is winning the battle Am getting far too good at "mummy says" in a nice stern voice that he is afraid to disobey. I spend Sat night in the spare room with dh bringing dd to me for feeds as she was still waking hourly at least after her growth spurt (but not feeding) and hopefully it has broken the cycle as last night she fed at midnight, 3.30 and 6.30! Still feel shattered though. Best go for a nap on the sofa before either of them decides to wake up.

Indith · 30/03/2009 13:16

Oh yes and have finally put a couple more pictures on fb.

jabberwocky · 30/03/2009 14:53

eli, thankfully it was a one-off - I hope! I have a bad habit of finding it near to impossible to turn down extra work these days.

at the pulled back muscle. I have done that before and it's so awful. In fact am recuperating from a pinched nerve atm so can commiserate on some level with that. Apparently running through the airport with ds2 in sling, heavy purse on one arm and pulling a carry-on behind you tends to wreck your body...

Indith, good luck with the house viewing. Buying for the first time is a bit of a grown-up moment isn't it?

LenniEd · 30/03/2009 20:55

Ooo, good luck Indith, sounds like fun.

Feet not touching the ground this week - DH and I very very busy with his business and have had time to read but now got no time to respond. So I'll wave and promise to do better next time.

DD2 has regressed into a newborn. I spent 3 hours 'up' with her last night whilst she bounced on her bed and chatted. I told my neighbour to send her newborn round so at least there is a reason for being awake all effing night

I've just signed DS up to have an OT assessment. Think I need to find a job to pay for it all ... any ideas?

Elibean · 31/03/2009 22:09

Oooh, good luck Indith

Castles...first, hope the newborn thang was a one off, and dd sleeps tonight. Re the job part, have racked tired brain, and all it came up with was 'how about being Jabber's PA, 'cos she sounds overly busy atm' tired brain obviously failed to notice small ocean between you and Jabber, apart from anything else...

Seriously though, hope a solution finds its way to you!

Lennied, you also sound busy

Took dd1 to GP tonight as she had what I thought was thrush (but wasn't responding to Canesten) - turns out its probably some sort of infected blisters/spots: molluscum? Chicken pox family?!? (she's had CP, but dd2 had weird blisters last week, possibly HF&M??) Anyway, she's on that disgusting penicillin now...and is being stoic. Her first vaginal swab and first pee sample, too grown up methinks

jabberwocky · 31/03/2009 23:10

Oh, wouldn't it be nice if castles could be my PA? I am constantly behind on something atm.

so sorry to hear about dd1's weird blisters. Ds1 had something like that a couple of years ago. We never did find out exactly what it was.

castles, ds2 occasionally goes through phases of getting very awake in the middle of the night. Don't they realize we have already done that stage and it's time to move on?

Elibean · 01/04/2009 12:11

Actually, Jabber, perhaps I could be your PA, with all expenses paid travel of course

dd1 stopped being stoic, and after half hour battle to take yucky bitter medicine, she took it on condition I got it changed. I have. Why on earth don't they give the 'yummy' one in the first place?

I forgot to take my ABs for 24 hours in the face of dd's fanjo blisters, and am now coughing and breathless again. Silly, silly.

accessorizequeen · 03/04/2009 13:38

Where are you all??

jabberwocky · 03/04/2009 13:48

I was wondering that myself!

Elibean · 03/04/2009 14:00

They're all sunning themselves....

dh has my lurgy. I am very mean, half enjoying hearing the groans because he was unsympathetic to mine, and half wishing he was well because life is more fun when he is

Bad, bad wife.

sorry, had to try out some [b]s!

castlesintheair · 03/04/2009 16:49

hello just checked in to do some festive emoticoning End of term today. Hooray! DCs already delirious on chocolate consumption

LenniEd · 03/04/2009 20:19

Yep - sunning myself am actually completely snowed under with DH's work. Ridiculously so. Am considering resigning (yet again!!), I don't seem to get any time to myself anymore. Am guessing most of you feel the same though.

Mmmm, chocolate... oh, but I'm meant to be on a diet...

castlesintheair · 03/04/2009 20:35

Aw, the liddle ears are soooo cute

Elibean · 04/04/2009 14:21

Yes, they are, but they make me think of chocolate....

...and dh has started to mutter 'heart attack' when he catches me at the chocolate...

We're off to Cornwall on Tuesday, for a week. At which point, of course, the weather forecast switches to rain

Will have to pack some chocolate...

LenniEd · 04/04/2009 21:49

Eli - have a fab time in Cornwall. We are going at the end of April for 5 days - a shame we didn't overlap. Where are you staying?

OP posts:
castlesintheair · 05/04/2009 11:22

We are going to Cornwall on Wednesday via my mum for 2 nights for a week. Gulp. Maybe see you there Eli!

Elibean · 05/04/2009 18:06

Wow, Castles, good luck! Take something with you that will remind you of all the useful therapy bits you got....(experience talking there, can you tell?!). And have a great time in Cornwall!

LenniEd, would love to overlap! We're staying at a hotel near dh's brother, called the Rosevine (nearish Truro, I think). Would stay with dh's db, but they have a house full of their own, grown up kids - be nice to see them.

I have stocked up on old DVDs, new felt-tips, and snacks. Not started packing though...am a packerphobic...

Elibean · 05/04/2009 18:07

Where are you staying, Castles and LenniEd? Cornwall-wise, that is?

LenniEd · 05/04/2009 21:02

We're staying at Bosinver from 27th April - see it mentioned favourably on here a lot so thought we'd go for it. Only 4 nights there as that was all they had free but are having a night with my Mum on the way down (can I borrow some of your therapy tips Castles ) and a night in a travelodge on the way back. It is about 7hrs there from here, am not looking forward to the journey especially since DD has today discovered how to get out of her car seat harness

OP posts:
jabberwocky · 05/04/2009 23:27

That sounds really nice. I was just thinking I would love a proper vacation sometime. Is that possible with dcs though? Maybe a trip somewhere by myself would be restful.

Elibean · 06/04/2009 11:03

7 hours About 5.5 hrs for us, bad enough! We're also having a night stopover there and back, LenniEd, think its a good idea with baby though for us its probably not necessary (she says, knowing dd2 will complain all the way ).

Jabber, definitely, if you're looking for a holiday - as in rest and recuperation - go solo
