Oh and I missed DS's 1st OT session today due to DD1's sickness which I am gutted about as I have been looking forward to it for weeks. He has been quite 'challenging' these last 10 days so you have my sympathy Jabber

jabberwocky · 01/06/2009 16:34

Oh, thanks! I see it on the lower toolbar thingy.

"challenging", yes, that's my world atm. Ds1 vacillates from being really wonderfully normal for a week or two to an almost complete regression ?! It didn't help matters that his glasses got broken and he missed wearing them for several days. i feel like all of the neural re-wiring we may have gotten was short-cicuited!!

castlesintheair · 01/06/2009 16:37

I know what you mean Jabber. Did you try cranial osteopathy ever? I find that has a 're-wiring' effect on DS. It wears off after about 2 months and I take him again. Am worryingly over-hopeful about the OT. Sigh.

jabberwocky · 01/06/2009 16:52

You know, I really should look into that. Have thought about it several times. You know all about ds1's head history so it makes sense that that should be part of his therapy. today is his last day of kindergarten and we have two weeks until his half-day science camps start. I may be working over-time...

jabberwocky · 04/06/2009 01:15
Hmm
Indith · 04/06/2009 11:32

Am off to France for the week tomorrow. Dd finally going to meet the family. Just got her to sleep in sling so off to dump in cot. Didn't realise was possible for the girl to restst sleep even more than usual

Indith · 04/06/2009 13:43

Right, dd woken up and hanging of my nipples, time to have that catch up

Eli hope the house selling/finding rental is going well.

says dd. My goodness I love those baby mannerisms, she is growing at a very scary rate.

Sorry about your aunt Eli. Horrible, horrible thing

AQ hope you are ok. Does your absence mean the dts are now properly mobile thus keeping you madly dashing around and trying to grow an extra pair of eyes in the back of your head? Very nearly mobile twins at baby group on Tuesday

bebe the pictures are beautiful, hope all going well.

Lennied good luck on tthe job front, part time sounds like a good plan, hope you find something to suit.

Castles hope bugs and neighbour are ok.

Anyway, the house

The house is pretty Same village as the one that turned out to be rather dodgy (interestingly now being marketed as 2 bed ) but right next to park and village hall and right on the disused railway, buggy friendly footpath to the next village where the shops are so only 10 min walk. It has a tiny garden but allottments close by and park literally round the back. 2 huge reception rooms, good new kitchen and bathroom in downstairs extenstion. 2 massive double rooms upstairs then proper loft conversion with big room and little box room/study with own velux. Solid fuel central heating

Am very excited, and that ios a terrible ramble but dd sqealing and wriggling on my knee and I think has just filled her nappy. Best go sort that out!

See you when I get home from France!

accessorizequeen · 04/06/2009 19:50

congrats on the house, indith sounds fab, sure you'll be v.happy. Yes, dt's mobile now, dd proper crawling, ds still commando but fast, boy is he fast. They're loving it, so am I, really enjoying them right now actually, they're great fun. Hope dd sleeps for you in france, yikes.

jabber, NOT terrible mummy - let the guilt go, I know it's hard!

bebe, congrats congrats congrats!! I can't seem to see photos on fb, durr brain I expect.

hope everyone else ok, this is my flying visit for the week so I can go to sleep by 10 (it was midnight last night and I was nearly asleep by lunchtime after various wakeups grrr)

LenniEd · 04/06/2009 21:16

Hi all

House sounds wonderful Indith - and have a lovely week in France.

AQ - crawling - yikes! Time flies. Glad you are enjoying the DTs, does sound like fun.

All ok here - DS feeding 2 hourly or more often day and night right now (hoping another growth spurt ) so pretty exhausted and got uni work to do so not getting much chance to get on here.

Will endevour the catch up more often this week.

Elibean · 04/06/2009 22:10

Ooooh Indith, house sounds wonderful, congrats! Glad you didn't get the dodgy one. Hope you have/had a great time in France, lovely weather, and a sleeping dd (and ds, for that matter).

Crawling twins, AQ, where did time go? Wish I could meet them (or even get my own durr brain around FB photos, for that matter). How is ds1 atm? And how are you, apart from ultra busy?

LenniEd, good luck with the 'spurt, hope its over soon - always felt like a year each time, IIRC, but almost worth it for the relief when they're over. Almost.

Possible good news re aunt, in that she had last lot of tests yesterday and specialist said he thought the diagnosis had been hasty and that she was possibly simply suffering from depression...really hope so, though at unspeakable first doctor who simply said 'take these' and handed her a prescription for Alzheimer drugs. Idiot. Thank god she questioned it.

We are in house limbo, waiting on exchange, not daring to sign any rental agreements, and on tenter hooks as (slightly creepy, not that thats relevent) neighbours gave us notice that they're planning to dig a basement in a few weeks' time. Obviously we've had to tell our buyers: just hope it doens't rock the boat too much

LenniEd · 05/06/2009 10:18

DS has got chicken pox - arrghh! DD got no sign of it yet - except already annoyed that she's missing music group and playgroup today but looks like I might have a free week for potty training [grrr]

OP posts:
LenniEd · 05/06/2009 10:19

Good news re your aunt Eli - I hope it does turn out to be something else.

OP posts:
Elibean · 05/06/2009 18:36

Thanks, me, too

Sorry about the CP, hope he has it mildly...I have heard babies tend to get it more mildly, esp if BF, but fingers crossed. Its an odd virus: dd1 had it quite badly aged 4, and dd2, who got kissed, breathed on, bathed with, etc never caught it

accessorizequeen · 05/06/2009 19:40

Lo' all
Lennied, the dt's had cp at 5 months (which is what ds is now isn't he?) - it was a crappy week but then I did have two of them. And now that it's over and all of them have had it, I'm quite relieved. Sorry he's been getting you up so much, god I know how knackering that is. And you're trying to jobhunt & do uni work! wow.
eli, urgghhh the perils of buying and selling houses, it's so stressful & v.sorry you're being put through the mill.
ds1 is still soiling every day, but not as annoying as he was in half term thank god, I don't know where that horrible side of him comes from sometimes. Just 5 I spose. But I have somehow just lately got used to have 2 babies in the house & being mother of twins, not sure why it's changed but feels good. The fact that they have 2 naps together every day certainly helps a lot!

jabberwocky · 05/06/2009 20:48

Sorry about the CP LenniEd. It's so weird to read about it on MN all the time as hardly anyone gets it over here anymore. I was going to let ds1 catch it naturally but then decided since it's so rare he might not get it until he was quite a bit older and have a really bad case so in the end went ahead with the jab like everyone else.

AQ, is your thread still going re: poo? It dropped off my list. Ds1 has gone two days without a poo and I always get really anxious that he's getting impacted so gave miralax last night instead of his regular supplement. We are inching closer to getting an evaluation with a pediatric GI doc but it is taking reams of paperwork! grrrrr

accessorizequeen · 05/06/2009 22:39

It's dropped off my list too which is bad as I started it, but I really haven't had a chance to follow up the suggestions made so far which I feel bad about. Dad suggested asking for a psych referral when we see the paed next week as we cannot get through to ds at all anymore & I don't see that we have a choice. He'll be in year 1 soon and it's gonna impact his schooling more. He point blank refuses to admit he has soiled, is in such deep denial we have to blackmail him really to go and clean up.

jabberwocky · 06/06/2009 03:54

We had ds1 see a play therapist to r/o emotional issues. He went for about 6 months. I was glad we did as it helped us to know that it wasn't really emotional in his case. Of course, now I know that it's more of an Asperger-y type thing with him (even though we don't have an "official" ASD dx yet) and not sure which I would have picked if I'd had a choice Anyway, I think it is worthwhile. Ds1 always refused to admit he had soiled - even when everyone could smell it he was in total denial. i'm so sorry you are all still going through this

Olihan · 06/06/2009 12:20

Oh AQ, you poor thing and poor ds1. Must be so tough for all of you. What's he like when he soils at school? Is he still in denial there?

Castles, hope the lurgy has finally left, having successfully wrecked your half term .

Fingers crossed the CP is over quickly. Ds2 had it at about 5mo and he was fine with it, as was Dd. Ds1 made more of a fuss but he was older and is more inclined that way anyway . Hope the growth spurt is over soon, I think 5mo is a fairly classic age for it, ds2 definitely became an even bigger milk monster around then. Not long til solids, now....

Eli, that's good news about your aunt, at the initial dx, that's appalling.

Indith, have a lovely time in France .

Jabber, hope ds1 has 'performed'!

We're off to Oasis at Heaton Park this afternoon. In the rain. And the wind. From 2pm. Til 11pm. I can't wait . (It was dh's 30th B'day pressie from me, seemed like a good idea at the time but I don't do wind, I don't do rain and I don't do standing in a field for 9 hours. Oh, and I don't like Oasis, particularly . Think of me............[wet]

LenniEd · 06/06/2009 14:50

Was going to catch up but DS crying having not settled for his nap. Will try again later - one of those days today

bebespain · 06/06/2009 16:13

Hi all

Thought I´d pop in while I have chance. The in-laws are here helping out with DS1 mainly. I feel really sorry for him as he´s pretty jealous at the mo and every time I´m feeding DS2 he tells me to "put him back in the cot" I´m sure he´ll soon get used to him...

DS2 so far is much more tranquil than his big brother ever was, (not convinced it will last...) but I´m trying to make the most of it while it does. He´s a real milk guzzler and when he´s not feeding he´s sleeping apart from between the hours of 6-9pm when he´s wide awake and happy to have a good look around!

I haven´t caught up properly but I must say I am very of you Oli going to see Oasis. My days of seeing them live are well and truly over me-thinks so I am more than a tad envious and seeing as I used to live 15 mins from Heaton Park I am a touch nostalgic too (say Hi to the ducks for me!)oh and Noel Gallagher is a particular hero of mine Right enough...hope you enjoy/ed it!

AQ - I have put the photos on my FB profile so you´ll have to add me as a friend! If I get time I´ll add you

Indith - have a super time in France - enjoy, enjoy and how exciting about the house - yay!

To everybody else I have missed hope you and your LOs are all OK...

Is it still sunny over in Blighty? Its absolutley bucketing it down here - the weather has gone completely doo-lally

Right - must go!

bebespain · 06/06/2009 16:20

oli - Oops just re-read your post properly. Myabe I should have wished you endured the Oasis gig rather than enjoyed it!! I´m sure it was worth it for yor DH though

Lenni - sorry to here about the CP and really hope its not too much of a severe case. I dread that one

Indith - the house sounds fantastic no wonder you´re excited

Right I said I was going didn´t I?? Off for a quick look on FB (The in-laws think I´m napping )

castlesintheair · 06/06/2009 18:14

Oli, lol at your birthday present to DH

On a 500 calories a day diet and feel like a bag of and totally deranged and light-headed. Same as usual really then

Elibean · 06/06/2009 22:53

500, Castles? Are you sure thats ok? Only, I eat more than that in a post-supper snack, and even if I had twice that per day, I'd faint. How long are you meant to keep that up?

LenniEd · 07/06/2009 10:43

Bebe - Enjoy the tranquility, and make the most of the helpers - MNing/fb whilst meant to be napping should definitely be banned though You are making me feel slightly broody though must squash those hormones!

Eli - my Dad, God rest his soul, always said of houses "You know when you know", in my limited experience I think he was right. Although I have made one mistake when DH and I moved into our second proper house together. It was haunted. Of course we did not know that in advance, I had reservations about that house, but could never put my finger on why so we went for it. I've learnt my lesson and always trust my intuition on places now.

Oli - hope you have enjoyed Oasis, I love Heaton park too Bebe, we meet my sister for picnics in front of the house/farm and then meander around eating ice creams. I'm yet to make it out on the pedalos but it is a burning ambition of mine

Castles - 500 calories only just about covers my breakfast and mid-morning snack. And I'm in the process of losing 2.5 stone(8lbs down so far). I'm sure you don't need such drastic measures as I do! How much are you wanting to lose? I've been doing a sugar detox for the last 10 days, which hasn't been all that hard really and have lost about 5lbs.

AQ - Yes DS is 5mo, I am glad in some ways he's got it out the way whilst young but he is absolutely covered in spots and looks a bit forlorn this morning poor soul. Am also sorry to hear about ongoing problems with DS1. I hope there is some answers and/or solution soon, in the meantime I think you are a brave woman for coping - I would have cracked.

Jabber - thanks for commiserations on CP - it is strange that they vax there but not here. Apparantly it is to do with the older members of the population being more at risk of shingles whilst the vaccination was rolled out.

OP posts:
accessorizequeen · 07/06/2009 20:08

Very very of any weight loss, although there's no way I could limit myself to a) no sugar or b) 500 calories (are you mad, Castles or there a health reason for this???). I have gained nearly a stone in the last couple of months due to comfort eating and not being able to do exercise because of this joint/muscular problem I have. No longer spd apparently which is great, really, just can't figure out why I have the muscular problem in my legs.

ds even worse at school, eli, he's so cheery about it all they didn't think it mattered to him but I know it does. And there are plenty of times when I sob all night about it, Lennied, I don't cope with it all sometimes. It's the bane of our life, really, but he is such a lovely kid in every other way.

Went out with all 4 today and twas really lovely, enjoyed every bit of it and that's the first time I can honestly say that! Dt's are just so delighted everytime one of the ds's looks at them or kisses them or plays with them and that all happens quite often. I particularly like the relationship b/t ds2 & dd, her face lights up when he comes over to her and so does hers.

bebe, get off mn/fb and get some rest, you mad woman! Although I'm fairly sure that's exactly what I did everytime after having a baby, to reconnect with the world

must do chores!
