Indith · 18/04/2009 11:00

re the apprentice Margo and Lennied, dh has been sorting out more house viewings on the phone to an estate agent called philip who he swears sounds exactly like and estate agent from county durham called philip. I'm guessing he doesn't win then!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/04/2009 17:36

ah yes FB quote was cut n pasted from here.

EV - hope all is well but I too am a little worried for you.

jabberwocky · 18/04/2009 19:36

Sorry about the house Indith but at least you found out beforehand.

Not up to an AQ style catch-up today. Computer still down at home and I have been traveling for work the last 4 days. I'm afraid it's starting to get to me. My face feels odd like before a Bell's Palsy attack. Have called in my meds and am anxiously waiting to pick them up. Hopefully it's just a false alarm.

Have posted on FB EV.

LenniEd · 18/04/2009 19:52

Here's to 3 years anyway was 3 years ago I found out was pg with DD. Just been to have a look at the AN thread... (nostalgic) "ahhhh"

OP posts:
LenniEd · 18/04/2009 20:00

For anyone feeling similarly nostalgic (and with time on their hands)... well that'll be no one then Thread numero uno

OP posts:
Elibean · 18/04/2009 20:56

LenniEd aahhhhh.....3 years, blimey.

EV, haven't been on FB and am worried about you and hope you're ok. Will go check asap.

Castles, we were not far from St Mawes...name of beach escapes me, but it probably started with a 'Tre' Have been giving dd kiddy Zirtec syrup in her nightly milk, seems a lot better, but could be the humidifier - we tried going without in Cornwall, hopeless. Sounds like you had fun? Hope so!

Indith, about the first house but hope Philip-the-Agent/Apprentice does you proud - great having an architect FIL, no? We have to bribe/persuade friends when opinions are needed (which they may be again soon, with luck, because we had a very promising 2nd viewing today..).

Jabber, you poor love, take your meds and take it easy - can you? Take it easy, that is? You sound like me when I'm anticipating a migraine attack, urgh, can you get yourself pampered a bit? Even if that only means putting your feet up/putting earplugs in and going to bed?

All well here, apart from unpleasant discovery that our now ex p/t mother's help/babysitter made a zillion international calls on our phone without asking Am hoping she'll come up with a valid reason/apology/way of putting it right, because she was really a kind girl and dd2 adored her. Hate things like this

jabberwocky · 19/04/2009 13:52

eli, thanks I have decided to take your advice. Told dh that I was taking some of the bonus money I made last week and booking a facial and massage

Am at the phone calls by the babysitter! How could she imagine it would go unnoticed????

AQ, glad it was just PMS. I've noticed that I am much more susceptible to it after ds2.

LenniEd · 20/04/2009 21:27

I'm out the other side of the most dreadful growth spurt. Nearly caused a major rift between me and DH and DD practically disowned me but all is recovered now. Funny that in the middle of it I'm horrendously tired and fed up and grumpy and so is everyone else, but then afterwards we just laugh about it all. Anyway, over now and I am certain DS has noticeably grown in the last 3 days! I saw my DSis with her DS last weekend and babies were a comparable size, but when I saw her today DS looked decidedly chubby!

Also at the babysitter Eli - hope it has been resolved.

Massage and facial sounds heavenly Jabber and well deserved.

I always wonder about old threads too - I'm sure eventually there will be a big clear out - surely the powers that be won't pay to store them forever? I have a little labour thread from DD that I like to read occasionally to laugh at myself. Must copy that sometime.

Cornwall for us at the weekend, hope this weather holds out.

OP posts:
Elibean · 20/04/2009 22:17

LenniEd, that brought it all back ( the growth spurts, that is), well survived and I hope the weather stays nice for you too - you deserve it after mega-feeding

Good on you, Jabber! Enjoy...

Nothing resolved, but decided to let go and sent her a copy of the bills so she could decide for herself what was fair: let her take some responsibility! We'll see what happens...meantime, I think we've sold our house and have nowhere to move to. Am now half excited, and half terrified about prospect of moving to rental for indefinite period, and equally terrified of telling dd1 (eventually) who is still traumatized at having moved bedrooms, let alone homes

'course, it could all come to nothing, but somehow I think this time its for real...

jabberwocky · 21/04/2009 15:04

That's exciting eli!

will be interesting to see what the babysitter has to say.

LenniEd · 21/04/2009 20:48

Sounds very promising Eli - the right house will come along I'm sure. Poor DD1, there are lots of nice moving house stories around, we read a lovely one at the library the other day, not sure what it was called though.

Where is everyone lately? Anyone would think they were out enjoying themselves

OP posts:
Elibean · 21/04/2009 22:09

Sunbathing, I bet

Thanks, yeees, was exciting for a minute then dh bagged all the excitement and I got the anxiety - we seem to take it in turns to be one or t'other GOod idea re book for dd, LenniEd, will have a look..

Jabber, how are you feeling now? Any more rested?

And same question for you, in fact, LenniEd, post-spurt!?

jabberwocky · 21/04/2009 23:12

We got the Eric Carle book "A New House for Hermit Crab" or something like that.

Feeling better, thanks eli. I took today off. Had a 2 hour nap and slept like a dead woman

I know the whole house-selling anxiety only too well. Someone told me to envision a date and a Sold sign when we were in the midst of it. Can't hurt, lol.

MARGOsBeenDrinkingTea · 22/04/2009 15:40

I've been sunbathing. Went to bed at 3.30 last night as I was completing job application. Well, the current phrase my manager likes to use is "You're not prisoners here, you can leave".

jabberwocky · 22/04/2009 22:24

Sunbathing sounds nice Ds2 and I were out today blowing bubbles and squirting waterguns.

Just picked up the pictures of the dcs from Easter. It was a charity thing for the Children's Hospital and the photographer had a bunny and a little lamb for the kids to pose with. They turned out fairly cute actually even if they both had really funky hair that day

EustaciaVye · 23/04/2009 13:04

jabber - put pics on fb I have just changed profile pic to very cute one of dd2

castlesintheair · 23/04/2009 13:20

Sorry to hear about the nanny Eli and the on-going job sitch Margo Anything else on the horizon Margo? Well done on the house sale though Eli.

Indith · 23/04/2009 13:46

Great motivational speaker your boss Margo

Eli good news on the house

Ds seems to be properly back to sleeping through! He has also been getting up at reasonable hours again. Phew.

Dd still doens't believe in sleep. She says it makes your brain rot. She has been marginaly better the past 2 nights though so I shall keep everything crossed.

Ds is so cute with dd I was holding dd so she could "stand up" as she likes pushing off the floor in typical 4 month old fashion and he came and took her hand and tried to lead her off saying "lets go!" Then today he was teaching her to talk.

ds- dats a bell Daisy, bell, dats a bell
dd- excited squeal
ds- yes Daisy bell dats good.

He loves telling people they are good at the moment. Everything I do is met with "dats good Indith" Am I being patronised by my 2 year old?

castlesintheair · 23/04/2009 13:55

Yes Indith you are

DD2 was congratulated by her teacher at gymnastics today for finally cooperating She is extremely capable but doesn't like to be told what to do, especially when I am in the room . Roll on nursery!

Now, where do I buy some cheap pink crocs for DD2?

How is potty training going? We are nearly there after a big break over Easter.

Indith · 23/04/2009 14:25

potty what now?

ACtually ds is now in pull up sposies full time as we were having raging battles over nappy changes. He wouldn't say when he had done a poo as he hated changes so much and as a result was getting very upset by poo. A couple of weeks in "pants" and he is happy to go upstairs to say "bye bye poo". He even did a poo in the potty voluntarily at the weekend. I have been and bought proper pants so just need a weekend when we are not stupidly busy to give it a go!

Matalan sell fake crocs in blue and pink, think I might get some for ds.

Elibean · 23/04/2009 14:42

Margo, your boss may find himself employlee-less, methinks good luck with the application/s.

Potty training? I'm not ready dd2 probably is, and always tells me when she's doing/done a poo, but I think I'll wait till we're in a rental

Castles, I got dd1 some 'geckos' ie fake crocs in Hammersmith tube station last summer. No prizes for guessing the colour.

bebespain · 23/04/2009 20:47

Hi all

There´s no way I can even begin to catch up so forgive me for not trying

Had lots of house guests lately and am so tired that I am really struggling to keep up with other things. In fact some days I can barely function

Its just hit me too that there´s only 4 weeks til my elective which will take place some time week beg 18th May. I am getting really scared now...but that´s another thread
(tells oneself to pull oneself together!!)

No potty training here - no chance. DS runs away from potty, booster seat and even INTNG "Daddy pants"!!!!

Anyway I hope you and LOs are all well
AQ - Hope you´re OK
Eli - hope things are looking more positive on the house-front
Indith, Lenni - hope the new additions are OK
Castles - hope you are feeling better....

Sorry I´ve missed anyone, my memory is worse than useless at the mo

Will try and keep up a bit better....

Indith · 23/04/2009 21:08

Bebe my dear when I was as pg as you are with dd I was faling asleep on the sofa while ds watched ITNG only to wake up half an hour later to find that it had finished and he was merrily playing with his toys. No need for at being to tired to function

Why is it that ds picks on one particular boy? We have a playdate with Billy Bob and they hold hands and race around together and giggle at each other. We went to see Billy Joe this afternoon and they rubbed along pretty well. We went to see Billy I can't think of any more this morning and as per usual ds was horrible to him, he just kept hitting him! Now of course with the others there is the usual snatching and toddler scuffles, ds loves "herding" Billy Bob who seems to enjoy it and he doesn't quite understand that not everyone likes it but why picking on that one poor child? He will be scared for life I'm sure, I can imagine future trips to his therapist "My mum hated me as a child, she didn't protect me, I'll never trust again, she used to insist on weekly playdates with this horrible bully who used to beat me up"

bebespain · 23/04/2009 21:34

Thanks Indith

LenniEd · 23/04/2009 22:50

Bebe - I agree wholeheartedly with Indith, sleep, sleep, sleep.

Indith - I've decided that even at 2 there is a pecking order. DD knows who she can steal from share toys with and who she can't and she knows who to steal from and run and who she can play happily next to... there is something about their personalities already I think.

Potty training - no I'm not ready either. DD seems to have taken it upon herself to sit on the big toilet at bath times though. I hope she isn't waiting to be trained since I have not a clue what to do. I just fold towels and sing to her while she sits and tells me she's pooing (when of course she isn't) and then we have a flushing ceremony at which point DH arrives and tells us that is another child died in Africa because we have wasted water on flushing nothing. It's not exactly a very well planned exercise.
