hey guys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2009 13:37

Can you get DH home Daisy? Is it worth going to A&E? Or do you have a contact at the hospital? You clearly need some stronger painkillers and the op asap....which is why A&E may be an option.

you can't carry on like this...

TheNatty · 03/03/2009 13:42

poor daisy

a&e with three children? would your gp be able to do anything?

LackaDAISYcal · 03/03/2009 13:52

I called the ward I was on before and they said best to go to A&E as GP won't be able to prescribe anything much stronger than the cocodamol. Arsebuckets.

I might wait till tomorrow and if it hasn't eased by then....Waiting on DH to call; he said he had a meeting and then would call at lunchtime once it was over....obviously he has forgotten or it has gone on too long.

and now bumble won't stop crying.

LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2009 14:03

thought as much.....Can your PIL come over and look after DCs when they are in bed and you and DH go to hospital...may be quieter then?

Wish I was closer......

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/03/2009 14:06

Daisy

I'm not leaving this thread. I feel sad enough that I don't see much of my RL Mummy friends since we moved, I wouldn't cope if I didn't have you lot. I mostly ignore the rest of MN these days, so I suppose I've half kicked the habit!

FrazzledFairyFay · 03/03/2009 14:07

Is there anyone who could have DD and/or collect DS for you so that you could just take Bumble to a&e, failing that call Dh and get him home, you can't keep on like this.

TheNatty · 03/03/2009 14:26

i second norty on wishing i was closer

Ohforfoxsake · 03/03/2009 14:31

Daisy. Can't suggest or do anything else.

have you got a baby swing for bumble? If not, I think you should get one, very good for hands-free settling IME.

Can anyone pick up and feed DS1? DH could pick him up later, at least you won't have to go out.

Ohforfoxsake · 03/03/2009 14:41

just waiting for Daisy to tell us how she is ...

HellHathNoFury · 03/03/2009 14:42

Butterfly, what did you want to know about dogging?

KIDDING!

Ohforfoxsake · 03/03/2009 14:44

anyone seen my energy and motivation? can't find it ....

I got up at 6am today to go to the gym. Got there at 6.30, drove into carpark, barriers broken, couldn't get in. No one there to help at that time of day nowhere else to park after 7am, gym in middle of massive one-way system so by the time I'd have driven to the other car-park I'd be half way home.

Got home and went for a run instead.

My conservatory roof (glass) is about to slide off and make a huge noise/mess. shit shit shit. roofers can't come to fix it for two weeks. shitty shitty shite shite.

Ohforfoxsake · 03/03/2009 14:45

that fucking CBeebies ad is doing my head in. everytime my mouse goes across it Sids voice springs to life. shut up!

ello fury. whats occurring?

keepingitRia · 03/03/2009 14:50

foxy. My kitchen waste pipe is still leaking so you have my sympathy (and can't ask DF to fix it on his first day back)

daisy. hope you get DH home and get to A&E.

HellHathNoFury · 03/03/2009 14:52

hello Foxy

I am just grand, you? I just bought a house, eek!

Am 15 weeks gone now, facing a few 'life dilemmas', as in, can't afford to stay at work with 2 in childcare. Can't afford it, I would be paying to go to work. Can't even use a CM as they charge as much if not more than nurseries in my area.

DS is now in the 2-3 year old room at nursery and much happier which is a relief, he was getting very bored in the 1-2year old room.

hmm.... what else. Still behaving badly at work, not got MS any more, have to sell one of the cars. That's it. You?

Know what you mean about childcare Fury....my bill (for 3 days a week) in December will be £1100 a month! I am stockpiling childcare vouchers as we speak.

For me though, its not a matter of needing / affording to work....I'm not cut out to be a SAHM ....cos all I do is stay at home and do sweet FA.....with the house or the DCs....my sanity requires me to work. I do bits and pieces of work most days as I can dial in....I did have two weeks completely away from it though when DS was born (other than checking e-mails).I'm not a workaholic....just need motivation which work gives me....it motivates me into housework and making sure I spend quality time with DCs...instead of lounging about on sofa and MNing

HellHathNoFury · 03/03/2009 15:27

lol Butterfly

there was me thinking I could just leave them in the care of the dog, Peter Pan style ;)

I am excited about the house, kind of - but not hugely as I haven't ever seen it, only photos, and am not going to be living in it, at least not for the short term future. But still, it's exciting.

foxy, admire your perseverance. If I saw the gym was shut, I'd take it as an omen or sign and watch some telly instead.

Butterfly I did sell a photo today! I was chuffed about that, a canvas print no less. Can't live on £25 profit though, sadly

Currently just looking at options like going P/T, nanny shares etc. But ultimately, I will do what gives us the most money, as I now have 2 sodding houses to pay for. Perhaps I should chat to OFFS some in that other thread

I am out tomorrow night! woohooooooo

HellHathNoFury · 03/03/2009 15:31

Norty I TOTALLY get what you mean. I love working. I am not SAHM material.

My childcare bill for 2 kiddies, even after negotiating 30% discount for the older one (work + sibling) it still comes in at £2000pm+. Add that cost to my commute, car parking, the dogwalker etc and I am hardly making anything after taxes etc. It's ridiculous as I am not badly paid either.

How do other people do it?!

HellHathNoFury · 03/03/2009 15:35

when I am at home I tend to lose my patience a lot, I am very selfish, sadly!

I am going out to a party tom night and thursday night, I can't even drink, dammit!

lol@bouncy brain

I am shit at working too. But I am really good at making it look like I am worth the money. I can make up an entirely believable report just standing there... when in fact I have been blogging, surfing and msning all day.

LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2009 15:55

It isn't easy Fury...I would be in the same position as you if I worked full time. In fact, it made sense for me to go PT as it bought us just under tax credit threshold and meant we got some tax credits....if I remained FT, it would have meant no tax credits and 40% tax....can you do some hours from home? I do 3 days a week in the lab and 7 hours from home (and the rest...). Luckily for us, DH got a much better job just at the right time.

Its definitely worth looking at all the options....including flexible working....my employers were great and very willing to help.

Also if you get childcare vouchers through work, carry on buying them throughout your mat leave and stockpile them....we should have over £2K when I go back to work in vouchers which will really help until DD is 3 and I get my 12.5 hours gov help a week.

The only thing about PT working, is that I effectively still do a FT job but in less hours ....and that is pretty common. But I so enjoy my 2 days off a week with DD and 2 of them come December...

Norty - all good ideas actually, I hadn't considered stockpiling vouchers.

I was also considering fostering (I can hear the ) - it's good money, if I did it as a full time job it would actually leave me financially a lot better off than my job now. And I'd still put DS in nursery 1 day a week so I'd get a break.

Ohforfoxsake · 03/03/2009 16:03

you definately get childcare vouchers there Fury. Something I need to look at myself.

Things OK here. DP is a figment of our imaginations at the mo, working/away every weekend. Not here at all next week, and my house is falling down feeling run down and demotivated. I need a break.

I bought a bright red dress in the end. Sleeveless, full skirt, kind of '50s style. Will find a pic later. Its very OTT and will clash with the brides hair terribly.

OH SHIT! My roof has just fallen.
