hey guys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Ohforfoxsake · 23/03/2009 14:48

DD1 is currently telling me she 'hates nana XXX'. which is unfortunate as we are going to leave them there in a few weeks. I think I'm going to a bit whilst there. She is very, very consciencous of my feelings and how I bring them up. She doesn't spoil them, but spends time with them doing their thing. She checks with me before giving them sweets and asked if she should get them a small gift rather than more chocolate at easter.

They love my mum though, because she lets them stay up until 10.30 playing the Wii, feeds them shite, and after two days with her, I have some very horrid kids to deal with today.

And I think I have flu. I hurt, my eyes hurt, my body hurts and my head hurts. sob.

FrazzledFairyFay · 23/03/2009 14:55

for feeling poorly foxy.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 14:59

Most children, if asked to draw a picture of their family will draw their mum in as a wee small thing, like an afterthought. i think it's because we are the most constant thing in their lives so get little real thought.

Thanks for all your cheering words; I've also had some good advice from the good folks of MN as well.

He'll be home from school soon (he is being walked so far by a school gate friend and being trusted to come the last 100 yards on his own!) so I'll try and do something positive with him when he comes in.

sounds like fab weekend for foxy, we need to see some pics of this fab outfit and a week for fury. I love CP as well; if only it weren't so damned expensive....and yikes I was wary about letting DS1 down the big slides, never mind DD!!

I need to get a new filter for my dyson as I have just pulled mine apart trying to get cat hairs off it. I am tempted by the hand held dyson as well, but DH will go bananas if I spend more money.

FrazzledFairyFay · 23/03/2009 15:09

I love my hand held Dyson, it's SO much better than any of the other handhelds I've tried.

Ohforfoxsake · 23/03/2009 15:15

can you link your thread please Daisy? I'd like to read it

Glad you have got some good advice and support

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 15:48

here foxy

also this one might have some good advice too

is the handheld good for stairs fairy? Is it cordless as well? and how heavy? sorry, it's 20 questions!!

HellHathNoFury · 23/03/2009 16:09

I have another dyson question! I have heard they don't have much charge, like, 6 minutes or something... is that true? I want one....

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 16:38

lol 6 mins of hoovering before you have to stop sounds like my idea of bliss

I hoovered this morning and think I may have overdone things as I have a horrible pain when I stand up....that and being on my own all day without DH to do all the lifting up and down of babies and toddlers.

and he's home late tonight as he is going in late so he can drop DS1 off at school.

Bumperlicioso · 23/03/2009 18:18

Hello all

Sorry I've been away for ages, only caught up on the recent stuff.

Great that you had a lovely holiday fury, but sorry about DS. No advice I'm afraid but I know it must be horrid. If the 3 of us are out DD will only hold DH's hand. If I say 'do you want to hold my hand' she says 'no' and and I'm telling you, she got that sulky teenager 'no' down pat! She sounds exactly like watsisface as Kevin the Teenager.

Foxy, glad you had a lovely time away, sounds fab, very .

So, sounds like we all have a bunch of sulky, tantruming toddlers, yay! DD doesn't throw stuff or get physical when she has a tantrum she's just very loud and very persistent. It's funny, you can distract her for about a minute by going through the repertoire of 'what do doggies/cats/monkeys etc. say?' and she'll play along and as soon as you stop she will pick up where she left off quite literally. However she has also started saying 'cuggy' for cuddles and being very affectionate, which quite honestly melts my heart. She's a bit under the weather again, was sick on Thursday so couldn't go to nursery, that's £42 I'll never see again!

Anyway, I have some good news though but I will have to be a bit cryptic: so you know my DH was having problems with a bunch of wankers and then left and we were trying to erm, get justice? Well, after months of waiting and a bit of negotiating he has finally decided to accept an offer instead of risking getting nothing, so we will soon be 5 big ones better off (and that's not mill unfortunately!). Make sense?

FrazzledFairyFay · 23/03/2009 18:39

That's great news Bumper . That will help towards your US tripi ahve this Dyson. It has very good suction, but it does have a very short life (6 mins is about right) before needing re-charging. Yes, it is cordless. It probably would be good for stairs but wouldn't last long enough. I mainly use it for under the dinner table, fluff, etc that collects in corners, spillages, etc i.e. for short bursts

FrazzledFairyFay · 23/03/2009 18:40

Not sure what happened there

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 19:55

bumper great new about DH's settlement. I hope you can use some of it to have a wee holiday or do/buy something rather than using it all up on bills.

and them agreeing to settle is as much an admission of guilt as you'd like. They obviously know that if it went to court they would have to pay out a hell of a lot more!

TALLULAHBELLE · 23/03/2009 20:03

Evening All.

Good news Bumper .

Glad you had fun Foxy. Sounds brill.

Daisy - second what Jammy said about making sure you've got his attention -full eye contact etc- before giving info/instruction. Perhaps 'secret code word' agreed beforehand. Something he has to repeat or answer first. Simple like - 'hey' 'ho'.

Fury - my DD did that the other night. Good night Daddy, Good night DT1, Good night DT2. Twins not even in the room & I'm stood there saying Night night DD over & over. She just laughed, knew exactly what she was doing - wee besom. Didn't take it to heart though. She soon changes her tune. Sure you'll be flavour of the month with DS this time next week.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/03/2009 20:25

Fury, I wouldn't worry. I'm sure that things will turn round soon (as T just said) and you'll have to do everything with/for him and DH will be Mr Unpopular.

yay Bumper! That's fab news How are things going for DH now? I was just thinking of you - I got some stuff in the post today that means might want to head your way in the summer. Will be in touch if so and perhaps we can meet?

Had a miserable afternoon. Missed jamlet like mad, which is very unusual. Then came home and argued with DH. Was in a right old grump and felt like sitting down with a packet of the hot cross buns that DH brought home and being self indulgent. But I put the Davina DVD on instead, did 40 mins hard exercise and now feel much better. So misery-induced binge averted

HellHathNoFury · 23/03/2009 20:31

Hey Jammy.
Well done on the binge resistance. I on the other hand just ate a kit kat chunky.

Thanks all for the kind words regarding DS.

However I have never been 'in', aside from a day here and there. Even as a baby it was all about DS. I don't begrudge it - DS is a great Dad and deserves it. I lack patience and tolerance and am less involved...so it's only to be expected really!

TheNatty · 23/03/2009 20:38

ah fury
they are fickle at this age, DH is the fav here.. only because he lets them get away with murder.

thomas is being horrendous atm, my god, im not going out anymore, ive done my best for this boy this week, and all im getting is rudeness and attitude and cheeky fucking behaviour

sorry, but i am really pee'd

i need a break, i can feel im losing the plot again.

Bumperlicioso · 23/03/2009 20:40

Thanks all. Daisy, the risk was we could go to court and even if we one we could still end up with nothing because we refused to settle, which is completely shit, as by settling there is no record that they did anything wrong. But we all know they're shits!

Blimey Jammy, you are really going for it. I'm so impressed. Would be nice to meet up in the summer.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/03/2009 20:43

Deep breaths Natty. And have some hugs. Remember, as I was telling a friend today "it will pass".

TheNatty · 23/03/2009 20:46

thanks for the hugs, need that

im still just so annoyed. ive tried really hard this week, and all ive had off him is teenage "kevin" attitude. hes 3 ffs...

doesnt help DH is working flat out atm, thank god he finishes work in a few weeks

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/03/2009 20:50

Thanks Bumper

Oh can I just say what a lucky girl I am? DH brought me 4 bunches of flowers home!!!! One was three huge and absolutely beautiful amarylis flowers (amarylii?) reduced in price from £10 to £1, and the others were huge bunches of daffs reduced from £2 to 20p each. Thinking about it now though, I guess it really sucks that I got a kitchen full of lovely flowers and we still had am argument

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 20:50

Oh natty , it must be hard, especially as he has less control over his emotions and behaviour than other children. He must be quite confused by it all as well.

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 20:52

jammy, for your flowers but for the argument.

DH has gone to Morrisons....I doubt he'll think to look for flower bargains though.

TheNatty · 23/03/2009 20:55

i just dont know what to do with him daisy.
hes not bored, or under stimulated, im being uber patient with him, been using all my parenting book advice and the advice of hv/docs

ive checked him diet, made sure he is sleeping enough, made sure hes getting enough 1 on 1 attention AND enough alone time..

what else can i do?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 23/03/2009 21:13

Ooooh, this has been making me laugh (or as the Japanes say it boil tea in my navel ) - the more recent part of the thread, from about 8.45 tonight.

Sorry Natty, that doesn't give you any answers does it? But it might take yur mind off things for a bit?

LackaDAISYcal · 23/03/2009 21:31

extreme patience and positive reinforcement i suppose Natty.

woohoo, I got a 99p cooked chicken and a bag of sports mix from the shopping trip.

In just noticed that one of my puncture wounds has a raised red area around it, about the size of a 10p which has come up since I had a shower earlier. It's not sore, more of a sharp tingle...would an infection not be horribly painful?
