Hi All

Sorry to all who had bad nights and sympathies for those with the half term grumpies at home. I have s grumpy since she woke from her nap. She fell asleep on our bed whilst being bored stupid by me puting the new cot together. She looks so tiny in it.

Dizzy - yay for the mortgage news

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MIDISURFER*

Cyteen - we also have huge amounts of wind at the moment - She farted so loudly in a shop yesterday evryone looked at me as if to say 'I beg your pardon'

catching up will post more when I have read more.

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 11:43

Dizzy my last Mat pay installment is this month [eek] Things are tight enough as it is, so I might have to go back to work earlier than planned. I feel a bit worried about work. I can't go back to my current job, but I don't want to get some basic job either (feel like that will be a waste of the time/money spent doing a degree) But don't think there's anything local of a career progression nature available. Working in London is out, as DP already does that commute, and if I did it, Seb would hardly ever see parents, plus the cost would cripple us.

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 11:45

Hi TS
Happy birthday to the surfergirls

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 14:19

Where is everyone today? Do they all have lives? Or perhaps they have children?
Hmmm....

cyteen · 18/02/2009 14:28

I'm here - did venture out this morning to a local museum but am back hiding at home again. Have new boots and they've cut my heels

So have been feeding myself and feeding Joe...he's a right gannet! Cucumber, yellow pepper, papaya, rice cakes - he'll gum it down and demand more

poppysocks · 18/02/2009 15:45

I'm here too, back from Dr, where DD2 had her 6 month check on what was thought to be an umbilical hernia. Not sure whether it still is but Dr described it as there being a big hole in her abdominal cavity where the muscles have not come together. . Anyway, she said that it might come together but from the way she was speaking it seems she expects us to be referred to a specialist when she's one to have it operated on. . She says it's not causing her any pain and won't get any worse, but will mean that if it's not treated her tummy will always be distended. If it is, she'll have a fairly hefty scar up her middle for the rest of her life.

I feel ok about it at the mo as I knew that this was the way it was looking and it was just confirmed today that it hasn't been improving on its own. DH on the other hand is very upset. The gorgeous girl herself is zzzzing away totally unaware of it all.

poppysocks · 18/02/2009 15:51

Sorry for that exceptionally 'me, me' post....

Happy Birthday to DD1 TS. What do you have planned for her? Not sure I'd want to recount to DD1 the nightmare of her entry into the world. It's bad enough getting to the anniversary of it (next week) and finding shuddering memories of what I was doing 3 years ago creeping into my head. All's well that end's well though.

Hope your day picks up ataraxis.

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/02/2009 15:57

Hellooo

DD is having a nap in her carseat - I fed her and put her in it to go and get a blanket and came back she was sleeping so taking the chance to eat for the first time today. The cats are a little miffed with the new cot, it is on thir hot spot where the pipes run under the carpet!

We will do broccoli again tonight with a bit of carrot then she loves a bowl of fruit puree to feed herself and make a huge mess! We are still being a bit random with it but she seems to enjoy it. The nursery nurse who helps out at the Baby cafe was a bit that we are not following the babyrice route. I got a lecture on bombarding her system with too much flavour too soon.

Hope everyone having a peaceful afternoon. DD awake so we are of o get some chicken for dinner!

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 16:03

oh poppy thats just utter pants (sorry I can't find a more appropriate comment) poor wee DD2

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/02/2009 16:05

Hi Poppy - sorry to hear about DD's tummy but on little thing to remember is - the scar will not grow with her so as she grows her scar will appear smaller - an 3 inches on her now will seem huge but 3 inches on an adult is rather small.

cyteen · 18/02/2009 16:08

oops i'm being pretty random too but am sure that if DS doesn't want something he won't eat it. haven't given him much in the way of soft foods yet, just chewable sticks of stuff and rice cakes. his hand to mouth action is quite good now, although he does still poke himself in the cheek a lot

i feel a bit bad as my SIL gave us loads of weaning stuff for christmas that we've hardly used, including a big box of Hipp baby rice that still stands accusingly unopened in the nursery

lol at 'too much flavour' funny how babies can never have too many toys, but too much palate stimulation is deemed to be a bad thing?

impressed that you've not eaten yet, i seem to be an eating machine at the moment. today i've had:

2 x tea
toast and peanut butter
apple
huge bowl of pasta, pesto and veg
creme egg
3 x bread and butter
bowl of rice crispies

i know DS is feeding a lot atm but this is ridiculous.

CaptainCaveman · 18/02/2009 16:14

OOh hello girls. Been away at the folks for a couple of days and you're nearly at 200 posts already! Not had chance to read the thread yet but just wanted to say poppy ds1 had an umbilical hernia repaired age 13 months, you can't see the scar as they did it via keyhole and the cut was at the top of his belly button. Should really be 'straightforward' - not that anything to do with surgery on your own flesh And blood is ever straight forward!

Other good news - we have had an acceptable offer on the house!!! Yippee. This might be it then, after 13 months on the market!! Keep on praying ladies

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 16:18

oh CC great news and thank goodness you're here to tell your experience to poppy - I seem to be devoid of anything but inane nonsense

am blaming lack of sleep

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/02/2009 16:22

Yay *CC will keep praying it all gies through smoothly.

Dizzy - you are not devoid of anything you are the FBG!!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/02/2009 16:27

|Okay - tell me if I'm being a brat (again). The person who gave, not lent but gave, us the Karime wrap just sent me an e-mail saying that she has found someone more worthy of it than me and can I post it back ASAP as she is sure I can sort myself out. I love me wrap and can genuinely not afford to buy another at the moment. I have my closer but it is not the smae as the proper wrap

cyteen · 18/02/2009 16:31

if they gave it to you, they have given up any right to decide its future.

email back sweetly pointing out that they must have got confused

AnnVan · 18/02/2009 16:33

Um oops YANBU! Cheeky mare! Good Grief - I'd be seriously pissed off.

Poppy sorry to hear about DD's hernia - although unlike CC I have nothing useful to add. Just Hugs.

Little man had FINALLY decided to have a nap. The last two hours has pretty much been constant moaning and whinging.

MiamlaHasADaffodilBehindHerEar · 18/02/2009 16:39

oops send me an email to [email protected]

pertelote · 18/02/2009 17:44

Oh Poppy that's bad, poor little thing. Glad CC had some encouraging expertise! Total sympathy though, it's horrid for you

Oops that is indeed rather rude! Does she perhaps not realise how much use you are making of it? We were given a beautiful sling with the condition that if we didn't get on with it could we give it back, as it is so lovely that the original owner didn't like to think of it being unused/disposed of. Which I thought was fair - I have kept it as it is gorgeous and great for special occasions though I prefer my Close for day-to-day, and would check back with her before ever getting rid of it. But if your 'friend' actually said you were less 'worthy' then she is the brat not you!

Hi Seb

LoveBuckets · 18/02/2009 18:26

VG How exciting for your DS1 going on a train by himself! I keep suggesting to my DSis that her 10yr old might like to train it over to us (5mins journey!) but she thinks we live in an inner city slum and is scared of public transport. Won't be long before he'll be able to cycle over by himself - that'll learn her!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 18/02/2009 18:26

Miamla e-amil sent.

LoveBuckets · 18/02/2009 18:34

Cyteen I used to feel like that about financial independence but once I decided to quit and be a SAHM (morning sickness with DS1 had a LOT to do with it) I kinda reasoned that families are all about dependence, that DH would depend on my free childcare and household management just as much as I would depend on his income. After DS1, working just seemed too expensive actually and now my excuse reasoning is that my stress from working and running the house and all the childcare logistics would make everybody's life miserable. DH agrees as I am a bully he likes a quiet life so we have settled for less spare cash in favour of less daily hassle.

dizzydixies · 18/02/2009 18:44

oops did she actually use those words?!?

cyteen get tooled up again, we're on!!!

buckets I agree completely but we still need my wage part time is enough for me though

all 3 tucked up in bed so we'll be up early in the morning - I don't really care as long as they sleep
