Knitter - oh jolly good then

And now I'm starting to worry about DS1 because someone different is bringing him back from swimming and he's not back yet!

It's OK he's just turned up - phew!

DH has just come in and they're making a decision at 5pm. Unfortunately ladies the computers won't be on then so I won't be able to tell you until the morning. So sorry

KnitterInTheNW · 03/03/2009 18:05

Well I think that's very poor

Seriously, it's about now, really really hope it's good news. Can we have a party tomorrow if it is please? With cake and everything?

LadyBee · 03/03/2009 20:02

oohhh pleeease, I'm off but have to do some work so will be online a bit tomorrow - promise to dish up the chocolate cake.
Oh Soph, I soooo want your DH to get it, will he be very very disappointed if he doesn't? I hope he feels it went ok.

Scorpio and VS, I love the idea of you both working in nurseries - lucky nurseries to have you both!

LadyBee · 03/03/2009 20:14

gosh it's really windy and cold and stormy feeling here. I thought it felt suddenly more wintery when I left work but hadn't really noticed it during bath etc. Am sat here feeling cold and wondering what to make for my tea, DH is away for work so it's all up to me.

EllieG · 03/03/2009 20:16

I want you both to come and work in DD's nursery and take turns in being her keyworker and then I will feel happy leaving her there

oh soph I can't believe we're having to wait! Though I suppose is worse for you (she says grudgingly). Best of luck to Mr Soph!

I went for another run tonight! And it was raining and windy and cold and all the sand from the beach was blowing in my face so I was Very Brave and Good going. Didn't go as far, but I will go tomorrow again to compensate. Not losing any weight unfortunately, but think that is cos I keep eating cake afterwards

LadyBee · 03/03/2009 20:31

Isn't that the only reason to do any exercise at all? So you can eat cake?

EllieG · 03/03/2009 20:35

You forgot having a glass of wine to replace any lost toxins

Right, off to make a cuppa and watch TV have stimulating conversation with my beloved

SalLikesCoffee · 03/03/2009 21:33

Hello all you lovely ladies. I missed posting on here all the time but now that inlaws are back, I can get back to my bad habits of mning all night while watching tele with my feet on dh's legs... Ooh, this is my perfect way to spend an evening.

I've been reading your posts but not posting much, so if it seems like I'm ignoring anyone, sorry, it's just because in my head we've talked already. My head is strange sometimes...

Congrats on the new job, VS! How cool is that, going for something else and being given something better!

Scorpio, wish we were closer to eachother, I honestly think you are a lovely, caring person and anyone would be honored to have you as a friend. You owe it to them to introduce your brilliant self to them!

I'm not sure if you know this, but all these feelings of "ugly", "fat" etc is completely unrelated to how you're actually looking - it's obviously only a self esteem issue, so please remember not to try and change anything to how you're looking. It's emotional. Not that this kind of thing is important at all, but just for the record, you are very pretty, slim etc. I know there are other things to do, and usually I'm all for taking things slower etc, but for self esteem (I've done this myself, so not just talking general rubbish here), consider seeing a good hypnotherapist. Mostly it just feels like you're there for 45 minutes relaxing, listening to someone's soothing voice etc, but it's the quickest way to start feeling better about yourself. And once you feel better, all these other things you want to change will probably be fun doing.

Soph, really, really, really hoping for great news for you.

Ellie, great on you for the training. Sorry, haven't got around to the promised sponsorship yet - will do it tomorrow, promise! Keep on training.

VictorianSqualor · 04/03/2009 08:39

Soph??

EllieG · 04/03/2009 10:31

Hey sal - how were the inlaws?

Hey VS

Oh I hope is good news for Mr Soph! [nervous emoticon]

Soph73 · 04/03/2009 12:00

Morning. Sorry haven't posted earlier but don't get in till 11.30 on a Wed.

Well, we're now in serious meltdown mode & it's gotten so bad I can't actually eat We were sent home at 5pm after being told that they would make a decision "some time tomorrow." FFS this whole thing is a complete shambles. DH turns up this morning & the fecking Head had gone out and then he went down to the south school. Apparently he told DH this morning that he "might" know something today. WTF (sorry, sorry but I'm trying to keep a grip). I keep verging between wanting to laugh manically or burst into floods of tears.

The worse thing about this is that if they did think DH would be good for the job they would have surely told him by now. DH has resigned himself to the fact that he hasn't got it Neither of us have slept for 2 nights because of this & I think the stress must be being felt by DS1 as well as we've been having problems trying to get him to sleep in the evenings.

Anyway, rant over. How are we all this fine day

Where have you all gone in my hour of need?

OP posts:
KnitterInTheNW · 04/03/2009 14:03

I'm here Soph! Only for a bit though as we're off to soft play to meet a friend. I actually only logged in to see if 'we' had any news yet!

It's snowing here.

SalLikesCoffee · 04/03/2009 14:20

Hey soph! Am here too, still keeping everything crossed for you and dh. Hope they put you out of your misery soon - I just HATE it if people can't tell you what a decision is... They must know how stressful the situation is.

Hey too Ellie and Knitter.

Ellie, well, this time the visit went a lot better. I think it helped that my mil wasn't alone all day again to think of all kinds of horrible things that'll happen to her grandchild!

Talking of, the poor thing (R, not mil!) has a terrible cold and is not really sleeping at all. Am SO exhausted, and feel so sorry for him having trouble breathing. Doing the normal calpol/snotsucker/raised bed kind of thing, and hoping it'll pass quickly.

Well, back to work for me. Soph, will keep on checking every now and again.

LadyBee · 04/03/2009 14:21

oh my god, that's horrible! Your poor DH! poor you!

Might know something..., god - ok. Is there a board or something that needs to approve appointment decisions?

Sounds a bit like the head was thinking it was his decision alone, and he'd know what he wanted to do at the end of the interviews...and then remembered that he couldn't just act by himself.
Either that, or your DH is second choice (sorry) and they're waiting for someone to either accept or decline an offer.
Or, they want to offer to DH but are looking at budgets to see what they can get away with in terms of salary.

Arrrggghhh. Recruitment is a nightmare for everyone, just try to remember that there are always lots of reasons why jobs get offered to people and not always because they are deserved...I've still got my fingers cross for you both.

Soph73 · 04/03/2009 14:40

Ah, there you are.
Ladybee - there were only 3 people on the panel so surely they must have had a majority as (so I've heard) they narrowed it down to 2. Like you say it's probably because he is 2nd choice & they're waiting to hear back from the other candidate Anyway, just have to grin and bear it. We didn't have any money yesterday and we'll probably not have any tomorrow so hey ho At least we won't be any worse off as they've told DH that he won't lose his current salary.

OP posts:
Soph73 · 04/03/2009 14:41

Sorry Sal, didn't mean to leave you out. Hope R gets better soon.

OP posts:
SalLikesCoffee · 04/03/2009 15:49

Hi Soph. Ah, not to worry. Will check in again later. xxx

Soph73 · 04/03/2009 15:58

Well, the Head has got parents with him at the mo and then he's going to see DH .... gulp!!!

OP posts:
Soph73 · 04/03/2009 16:44

I think DH is in there but there's only 5 mins until the bell goes and then the computers go off so I probably won't be able to tell you anything today either. I promise I'm not coming back on MN until I hear something then that way I can leave you lovely ladies to get on with your lives instead of hassling you all senseless

See you .... somewhen xxxxxx

OP posts:
LadyBee · 04/03/2009 16:58

oh bum, was logging back on to check before 5

LadyBee · 04/03/2009 17:00

well, I hope it's good news Soph, and if it isn't, well you're right nothing lost - but still disappointing.
Damn, I've just changed B and now he's doing the most horrendous poo face.
I have a stinky boy sitting at my feet, guess I should deal with him and then start trying to think of something to feed him for his dinner. Hmmmm...

KnitterInTheNW · 04/03/2009 17:23

Well all I can say is, it had better be good news after all this! We just got in and the first thing I did was to check here!

SalLikesCoffee · 04/03/2009 21:09

Ah noooooo, the suspense is killing me! Soph, hope at least you know by now.

So how was everyone else's day? Here normal - busy at work, came home to a poorly baby. Seems to be the normal course of events in my life lately. Anyway...., nicer news: We've now got a nanny 4 days a week, with R going to a new nursery on Fridays. The nanny is amazing - she's so lovely with him, and he seems to adore her after less than a week! And with him being poorly, it's so nice to know he's being cuddled and rocked etc as much as he likes.

On the topic on ill babies (nothing major, just really bad cold and very bad cough)- at what stage do you need to take them to the doctor? He had a fever of 38.9 today, which broke eventually. He's exhausted and was just lying with his head on my chest in the bath. He's not eating, but drinking is fine (2 bottles of milk during the day), and normal wet nappies. I'm normally not keen on taking him to the dr if I think there's no point, but just worried now that I might be doing him more harm by not taking him. He gets chest infections very easily. What do you think?
