in light of what? I'm lost
stupid stupid stupid boiler people. Engineer came out, with the spare part we needed to fix boiler. Thought all was good. But no - apparently the spare was damaged . Have now got to wait until tomorrow, he has to get a new part and will call me sometime to say when he'll be there. Only we're supposed to be driving to yorkshire tomorrow, wanted to leave early and now might have to wait -- arrrrgggggg.
Am sooooo sick of this.

TheyCallMePeachy · 19/02/2009 10:32

ah ladybee you missed peachygate

some new knob took it upon temselves to start a IABU tead the othre night where I was the tareget, up[setting me loads. mn are thinking about deeting it I think (I didnt report it but I appreciate it that omeone did)

VictorianSqualor · 19/02/2009 10:34

Hey all, haven't had a chance to read everything so will do a quick post and run.

Alex has done his first couple of steps, started sunday, only one step at a time but it must stop!!! He is meant to be a BABY! Lol.

Erm, School holidays, hate them.

LadyBee · 19/02/2009 11:04

there you are VS, was just about to send out the search squad.

Yes, Peachy, missed all that. I tend to avoid the AIBU bit..it gets too heated for my comfort. Sorry someone decided to have a go though, no one needs that especially on here, I think some people need to take a second look at the 'what Mumsnet is about' bit sometimes.

Walking though! How extremely cute that must be...am getting all gushy at the prospect.

KnitterInTheNW · 19/02/2009 14:44

George finally has a sliver of a tooth! 4 weeks and 2 days before his first birthday!!!

Denny185 · 19/02/2009 18:23

Evening all, teeth and walking, its all going on with these little ones.

Half term here, mum has had all 3 kids last couple of days whilst at work and they had a ball. Walks, parks and farms what more could they ask for!

Work is dificult at the moment, one physio leaving and another off for 6 weeks as broken wrist so between the 3 of us were trying to absorb their lists aswell. Unfortunatley this means lots of reassessments and lots of extra work so finished an hour and a half late today. Still off tomorrow

LadyBee · 19/02/2009 19:56

I'm off work tomorrow too . So now I know why it's so quiet around here at the moment...halfterm = frantic mothers of school-age kids.
Good on George, he got there! You sounds quite pleased Knitter - I take it he's coping with the teething quite well then ?

I'm having an attack of the glums today. Can't even blame the boiler annoyance from this morning, as I was in right mood from the moment I woke up. In fact, before I woke up. Apparently I told DP to shuffle back as he started to cuddle me this morning..
Somehow just can't get excited about this weekend, even though it'll be lovely wedding of lovely friends.
Y'know how even lovely weekends away just seem like a huge amount of work sometimes?

  • what's DS going to eat? How much should I take?
  • how much clothing will he need, and where is it?
  • what are we going to do with him during the evenings?
A very large part of me just wants to say f*&k it, these are dp's friends, it's his thing, he can think about this stuff - I'll drive us up, hang out in the hotel bar and he can work out the details for once.

See? Glums.
I'll get over it.

EllieG · 19/02/2009 20:23

sorry you have the glums ladybee - that is a great expression though - I must remember it, it describes my current mood exactly. We can have the glums together [slightly watery]

VS - thank god is not just me hates the school holidays, was beginning to feel like the worst mother in the world. DSD is an her nan's tomorrow for the day and I am breathing a HUGE sigh of relief - she's being a massively hormonal so and so at the moment - only happy when doing exactly as wishes and otherwise pouting. Have got this horrid feeling that by the time DSD comes through this and starts acting like a reasonable human being again DD will start it all over again! Boo.

Will have a look at that thread peachy if needed still. Hope you are OK - didn't see anything having a pop at you but will beat anyone up who does [Ellie puts on her angry face grrrr]

peachy - just read that thread - what a poisonous nasty horrid 'friend' - how the hell do people like that sleep at night?

KnitterInTheNW · 20/02/2009 09:49

The only thing about getting dp to do BabyBee's packing though, if your dp is anything like my dh, is that you'll end up with a bag filled with a few nappies, one spoon, no toys and one clean set of clothes. For a whole weekend. That hasn't actually happened, but based on his idea of packing a bag to go out for an afternoon I think it would be pretty accurate! (Followed by a lot of 'oh bother's when we've been somewhere for 10 minutes and he discovers 10 things that he didn't think to bring. Ho hum...

I AM quite excited about George's tooth, I'm still not convinced it is one though! He's been teething for months and months and months, so finally having something to show for it will be great!

VictorianSqualor · 20/02/2009 11:22

Bloody hell knitter, Panda is on his 8th tooth
Isn't it strange how such simple things happen at such different times, Panda STILL can't grasp clapping(I've tried telling him it's not that hard but ...

The children are playing 'Who can wind mum up the most' today.
So far DD is winning. Her prize, to have everything removed from her room except her bed. All toys and books, gone. She has to earn them back. Will she learn? Will she fuck. She'll play with dust or something.
Copious amounts of wine needed tonight

What thread Peachy??

LadyBee. Just shove a load of babygros and nappies in a bag. Then go get pissed.

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/02/2009 11:25

LOL VS at dd's play with dust

I text you last night, dont think you got it though.

Its so quiet here, ds1 with his dad, ds2 with DH in Somerset, Mimi in bed....

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/02/2009 11:25

Mimi has 3.5 teeth

KnitterInTheNW · 20/02/2009 11:28

G isn't clapping either.

I only had 1 tooth on my 1st birthday so I think he might just be copying!

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/02/2009 11:28

my boys didnt have teeth until very close to 1, either.

MommyHasaHeadache · 20/02/2009 11:53

Hello all - phew - just been trying to catch up with what's been happening on here these last few weeks! It's taken me all week!! Finally I'm all caught up so thought I would say hello!

We had a fab holiday - so sad it had to end. Loved being in SA and in the sun - as did Gigi - she adjusted really well. Still ate and slept at the same times so that was a relief! Loved being with her Nanna and I felt really sad leaving, know that they wouldn't see each other again for a while. Waht made me even sadder though, was that we had our camera stolen leaving SA. I don't give two hoots about the actual camera, but all our photo's have gone now. So I now have no photo's of Gigi and our family out there, and who knows when we will next be back. SOOOOOOOOOOOO I can't tell you. After SA we stopped in Dubai where my brother and his family live - and it was really lovely. Gigi had a great time with her cousins (two boys - 4 and 2), and at least we have photo's of that half of the trip as we bought a new camera in Dubai. Anyway, back now to reality.

Kinda gutted I missed all the snow. I've never seen that much snow before.

Scorpio - so sorry about your loss honey - I know how much you wanted it. Hope you are okay now.

Gigi still has no teeth, but is crawling, can clap and wave and lol, has learnt how to tickle herself! Very amusing! She's dropped to the 25th centile now in weight (she was born on the 75th) - the health visitor says it is because she is so active - and she really is - doesn't stop! She weighs 21 pounds - but is tall - 75cm (had her weighed and measured yesterday). So she is a long and lean baby. But I need to fatten her up a bit and it is so hard - she goes through stages of not being interested in food. She will take a few mouthfuls and then she blows raspberries at the rest, turns her head away, firmly closes her mouth or flaps her hands in front of her face! Very frustrating!! She is going through this right now. Sigh.

Gigi's baptismis next week Sunday - really looking forward to it. We had her dedicated in SA and that was lovely. Lol - Gigi seemed to enjoy it to - she smiled and waved at everyone the whole time she was on the stage! So far we have 30 people coming - it's going to be so good to seem them as some of them I haven't seen in ages.

Anyway - I am starting to babble so will be off.

ScorpiowithabigS · 20/02/2009 11:55

Oh no about your camera, i saw on FB you had it stolen, how awful. Mimi weighs less than Gigi and is a little taller she is a long bit of nothing

Soph73 · 20/02/2009 11:56

Morning all.

Well Sam had his hearing test yesterday and, surprise surprise, he didn't miraculously go to sleep so they had to sedate him. I took the rest of the day off work because they said he'd be fairly floppy for the rest of the day - bless. Anyhoo, he has a 30% loss of hearing in his left ear and a 50% loss of hearing in his right. However, she did say that the right ear is affected by the amount of catarrah, etc he's got at the moment. He doesn't need any treatment at the moment he's just got to have regular hearing tests to keep an eye on everything. We also have to speak a little louder and clearer when speaking to him.

Still no teeth here yet, but a couple of months to go before his 1st birthday.

Our half term is next week and I'm so looking forward to it. DH has also said he's going to take Sam to his appointments which is so nice to me as my bum is Citroen drivers seat shaped now

Soph73 · 20/02/2009 12:00

so nice for me is what I meant.

Hi MHaH, so sorry to hear about your camera. It's really crappy when things like that happen Pleased to hear you had a great time though & it sounds like you'll have a fun baptism. She sounds right cheeky

OP posts:
EllieG · 20/02/2009 12:51

Hi soph - glad Sam's hearing test is finally done -a sorry is not full % but like you say, some of that might well be how bunged up he is, bless him.

Very about your camera MhaH - I'd be gutted too. Good you had a nice hol though x

LOL LOL at VS's daughter eating dust!

DSD is at her Nan's today ahhhhh the peace.....
I think we're both a little fed up with each other tbh at the moment, judging by the glee with which she went off this morning!

Molly is a long fat baby at the moment. She is eating like a horse now, not drinking so much milk, though is increasingly picky about what she will eat, and where she used to eat everything, now goes through stages where she will only eat one kind of texture, or flavour. Some days we have I-will-only-eat-scrambled-egg times and others a puree day and other times only toast or whatever. Seems to be doing OK on it though and I keep a stock of Hipp Organic jars in for when she is being super-picky cos she'll always eat them, ungrateful wench that she is. She's going to have to be a bit less picky at nursery though, cos they won't have the patience I do....

Am a bit concerned actually about when she stops mush and starts needing more texture. I try not to puree too much, everything is chunky now, but she is a bit fussy sometimes. She will eat some finger foods - toast, sandwiches, bits of cheese, crackers, some veg and fruit (but if it slips out her hands too much she gets cross and throws it on the floor), but is not very adventurous.
Can I give her bits of meat now to chew on? Do you think she would choke? Have tried but she licked and thew away - anyone got any other ideas of stuff. What are your LO's eating?

Soph73 · 20/02/2009 13:03

Ellie - can't really advise you on the food thing as Sam is very much still a puree baby, although I'm making it lumpy now, and of course, doesn't realise what he is eating so everything goes down He literally gummed my hand off this morning for his Weetabix because he barely ate yesterday. The hospital said that he wouldn't eat/not to give him too much after the sedation because his throat probably wouldn't swallow properly. He had a little bit of fruit & veg but that was it. I'm sure he'll definately make up for it today

DS1 is in his pirate's costume today as it's the school Carnival celebration He's a very happy bunny.

VictorianSqualor · 20/02/2009 13:10

Ellie, all the BLW babies have been eating meat etc from the beginning so don't worry.

Soph73 · 20/02/2009 15:02

Well, I suppose I better tidy up and then I can start my wind down Hope you have good weeks ladies and that all our LO's stay healthy (fingers crossed).
