aubergenie · 27/02/2009 09:38

Urrgggh work. Yes, I went into school yesterday to ask the head if I can go back 3 days a week. I really hope they agree to it.

star6 · 27/02/2009 09:48

Oh aubergenie, I'm so sorry to hear that. I dont' know what to say, either. How horrible.

star6 · 27/02/2009 09:51

I've been back at work since DS was 9 weeks... it's been fine!! I teach 5-7 year olds so it helps that I absolutely love my job. As you know, it was sad at first, but it's better now. I get to see him during the day at around noon most days and pick him up at 3.45pm. Perfect. Of course we also have had 2 holidays since then - 2 weeks at xmas then 1 week feb half term, then dh had the next week feb half term (diff school systems, diff half terms) and we have a spring holiday of 2 weeks coming up in just a few weeks as well!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/02/2009 10:23

God Aubergenie that's so unimaginably sad. Makes me teary too, I don't know what I'd do without Poppy now. No words could be right in that situation, she'll know you know how she feels as you have a newborn x

ronshar · 27/02/2009 11:03

Aubergine. Anything you write in your card will be perfect. I know this because when I had a MMC it makes a real difference to know that people are thinking of you. So just write exactly what you would want to hear yourself. Mostly be prepared for your friend to take a real long time to get over it. It will be 2 years for me in a few weeks. Not a single day goes past that you dont think about what could have been.
Your friend sounds like an incredibly brave and strong woman to stand up for herself and have a positive birth experience under those circumstances.

pepperrabbit · 27/02/2009 11:51

Morning all,
my head is twirling with trying to match up FB names and MN names!
Cryptic question - Marthasmama has suggested SS as a friend on FB - is that you Ronshar or aubergenie? (brain exploding emoticon!).
I'm AF if that helps.
I work for a bank if that clears up an earlier question!
The chicken pox is coming along nicely (?) with DS2. Still only a few on his face but a fair amount elsewhere - seems slow though - I thought there'd be hundreds within 24 hours? Am I too impatient? Really don't want DD to get it, she seems so small and so beautiful - don't want her to get spots

ronshar · 27/02/2009 12:35

Tis me Pepper
Have you got some Piriton? Brilliant for those itchy moments

pepperrabbit · 27/02/2009 12:39

Hurray - hadn't thought of piriton and have some junior stuff somewhere!
I'll request you as a friend pronto!

Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 12:45

Ooppps (and I actually did blush), did I get you muddled up! Clearly I can't remember your names either. and again! Sorry ladies. It was very late etc etc...

star6 · 27/02/2009 13:17

I can't get on fb for this at the moment but I wonder if we should start a "discussion" in our fb group just so everyone can say what their MN name is? Easier to match up

Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 13:19

Pepper - DS had chicken pox when he was 18 months and only had a few spots. Apparently when they get it young it's only relatively mild.

I took M to be weighed this morning - she is 15lbs 1 and still bang on 50th percentile. But it means she's only put on 14oz in four weeks... I thought they were meant to put on at least 5oz a week. Oh well, I'm hardly worried, she's kept to the same percentile, the guidelines just didn't seem to add up. On the way home I bumped into DS's teacher on her way to the shop. I stopped to chat to her and she chatted to M. She said 'I bet you're going to be a clever one too like your big brother.' I pointed out that was nice to hear and she said 'Oh yes DS is a very, very clever boy indeed.' Yay! [proud mummy emoticon]. I'll stop boasting now......

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/02/2009 13:35

MM - dd was more wakeful than ds!

Have started discussion on fb group listing who's who so far.

for your sister's friend aubergenie. It's such a terrible thing to happen. Use the baby's name in the card (assuming they gave one) to show that you are acknowledging her as a real person, and let her know that she can talk about the experience/baby as much as she wants/needs.

I need to get M some more romper suit type things for 6-9 months. What do you think about this, this, and this? They're all pricey but DH owes her an outfit .

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/02/2009 15:46

The prices are ridiculous, but I adore the first one.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 16:00

Yes I said they were pricey, but DH lost an orangic Gap one, that I had bought her, in a shop when he was trying on shoes. He therefore should be punished for his neglect! Plus it was four months ago and he keeps 'forgetting'.

pepperrabbit · 27/02/2009 16:03

MM I prefer th first 2 - DD has some REALLY bright sleepysuits and can spend hours staring at her sleeves - who needs toys !

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/02/2009 16:05

But did you have to show me that site? Now I want lots of stuff too, but am not allowed to spend money at the moment.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 16:05

Excellent Pepper - duel purpose therefore worth the money! I think I can sell it to him on that basis.

hedgepig · 27/02/2009 16:06

pepper try not to worry about DD, my DS1 had chicken pox at 4 months (I had no immunity so neither did he) and it was very mild didn't really seem to bother him and he couldn't scratch because he didn't have the hand co-ordination, so no scarring.

Lovely romper suits, girls have such good clothers

Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 16:08

Sorry CSWS. It's a bloody good site and they do free delivery on purchases over £12. I can't shop either as I've given up shopping for lent. I know I'm mentioned it before but saying it out loud helps me come to terms with it!

Marthasmama · 27/02/2009 16:11

hedgepig - Have you seen M&S boys clothes this season? They're lovely and reasonably priced. Plus for a special something Gap or Monsoon are excellent for boys, especially little cute boys!
