dh swears he has seen kids of under one drinking coca cola from a bottle - but not irnbru so I'd get some down alex,,,apart from anything else it'll help with the gin hangover

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/02/2009 20:48

I am intrigued which thread is this, I noly answer those which want help making up bottles.

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 20:49

neenz we've got a faffy in ear one but I usually go by how hot the back of her neck feels.

and while you're about it sponge I think greggs products are highly recommeded for blw...(which is a shame as I LOVE greggs type stuff for a guilty treat).

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/02/2009 20:49

Neenz, it is worth ordering a digital thermometer from the chemist. Ours cost £30 and is the same that Dr's use and is quick and easy.

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 20:50

one on weaning advice/hv 5 and even the bottle making up ones can kick off as sponge and I know too well (apparently not making it up at the time kills your baby so I was told).

spongebrainbigpants · 11/02/2009 20:59

I was aiming at the OP (Leonie? I think) - she was the one who said about "tinned junk".

I did get alot of support - although people were offended by my language which is understandable . I should have been more articulate and maintained the moral high ground but sometimes swearing is the only way to get your point across and make people realise just how angry you are. Tiktok was the first one to respond and didn't comment on my language at all, just had a dig at OP for being so rude about ff.

poppy, oh yes I remember that one!

Well, I've been killing Alex every day since I started using formula. Bad mummy, eh?

Tiktok is fab, she is very reasoned.

spongebrainbigpants · 11/02/2009 21:04

5, I agree, had some v interesting discussions with her. I was just surprised that she didn't have a go at me for swearing! Think she realised just how offensive the OP had been though and she understands how emotive the subject can be. Bless her.

me too sponge..seemed very much alive to me 2 minute ago ...tiktok to be fair is not one of the most offensive..and has laid into the silly cow.

and to think edie was almost leonie

abdnhiker · 11/02/2009 21:08

sponge your message was deleted before I got there too. I'm glad that tiktok was there to stand in the don't-judge corner.

neenztwinz · 11/02/2009 21:19

5, it is the thread in breast and bootle feeding which i think is titled 'shocked at weaning talk' started by LeonieSoSleepy.

Just a q about temps again - are they grouchy when they have a temp, I mean do you know they have one even before you put the thermometer in? I have a mouth/underarm thermometer I used when ttc and when I used it on E when she had her hernia NHS Direct said it wasn't so accurate anyway under the arm. Do you just need to know in case it goes in the danger zone (over 39C is it?).

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 21:21

bootle feeding - is that for my dad and his love of scouse pie?

and imho yes they're grouchy/not right (ie floppy) if temperature..that said you can pick up the thermometers quite cheaply (and I moan but it does only take seconds to get temp)

neenztwinz · 11/02/2009 21:27

I could use my digital ttc thermometer I am sure. I might try that tomorrow just to see if it works. Mine have Calpol most nights anyway cos they are always red cheeked, pulling on their ears etc. Not tonight though and they have slept fine so far. I really don't like giving them Calpol/Ibuprofen all the time but they do seem to wake in pain when I don't give it to them.

Yes bootle feeding .

spongebrainbigpants · 11/02/2009 21:27

Lol at bootle feeding! Yes Neenz, that's the one, Leoniesosmugly.

I'm feeling bad about all these temp discussions - never taken A's and don't even own a thermometer .

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 21:29

sponge you know perfectly well if alex is ill.. dh bougth the thermomenters..not me.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 11/02/2009 21:40

I have a selection of thermoneters but can never find one when I need it!

DD1 was bottle fed from 11 weeks and was certainly a more healthy baby than DD2 who was bf and vomited and had a temp at least every 10 days.

spongebrainbigpants · 11/02/2009 21:45

going, lol at collection of thermometers! Is that like poppy and her collection of slings!

OP posts:
goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 11/02/2009 21:47

I have had a few slings too!!!

AliandHerScallywag · 11/02/2009 21:50

I normally work out P has a temp when I realize his ear is burning hot on my arm as I feed him. I then get our £10 mothercare digital thermometer out to double check. It's readings aren't that consistent in the armpit so I take three in sucession to get a feel for the average.

P woke up at 7.30 has been lovely all evening and only seems to be ready for sleep again now... It's all a bit odd.

poppy34 · 11/02/2009 21:52

the slign selection is still there - I have those that I know dh won't use as too hippy (the useless babasling), those that I feared (wrongly when i moved my lazy backside down to get her weighed) were too small for her (the baby bjorn) now and the final two that are good but one that is only good for inside (can't remember if it was you going or someone else who asked) as scootababy not good under a coat -even when I foolishly bought a special coat from the website that was meant to go over the sling..does it feck.. i just look like a moron with a coat with a zip in the back ...the only thing special about that coat was fact I parted with a lot of money for it.

and the ergo - very good but not so good at stopping dd's kamikaze effort (is it just my child who will spend any journey leaning over backwards like some kind of demented limbo dancer).
right thats enough of militant poppy on slings...

neenztwinz · 11/02/2009 21:55

lol Poppy

neenztwinz · 11/02/2009 21:57

MN should introduce a 'like' key, the same as they have done on FB so when you think a post is funny/good you can just click on 'like'. Though you'd feel a bit if no one 'liked' your post.

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 11/02/2009 21:59

Poppy the scooterbaby sling looks lovely. Couldn't find the coat and I@m intrigued!

I have a babybjorn which I stopped using around three months as ds was too heavy, a close which is lovely but the material is now too stretchy to hold heavy ds and a litte life(Ithink) backcarrier which I don't like.I'm not allowed to buy anymore .

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 11/02/2009 22:01

ali babies go up and down really quickly when they are ill. Usually up when you take them to the dr's to make you look nuerotic!
