I don't think so bumper. Baggins has soft-spouted cups, 1 in the morning, maybe 1 with tea and usually 1 at bedtime. I don't know how much they hold but they're the little fat ones. I was wondering myself if he was getting too much milk, but as he won't eat much just now I'll leave it. DS2 had a bottle at bedtime for --far too long ages but I thought he was my last you see? I think DS1 was on a soft-cup from being 1 (PFB doing it by the book!!!)

LackaDAISYcal · 13/02/2009 13:24

oooh, T, am so jealous of your night out. sounds great; I love strictly.

bumper, we are having the lamb with roast mediterranean veg, but same starter and pudding as you.

bumble slept from 8.30 until 6.30 last night . Fantastic night's sleep but my boobs were like zeppelins this morning as he usually feeds twice in the night.

DD beats herself on the head if she isn't getting her own way, and thanks to an unfortunate incident where I thought she had put a holly berry in her mouth and she clamped down on my finger and wouldn't let go , has started biting herself as well .....and others

I was sooooo not going to switch the pooter on today but juanita on my Nov thread told me at stay'n'play that one of our chums is having a crisis so I had to log on and offer support....and then checked threads I'm on and will no doubt spend the next hour and half here. But, I have poulet-au-vin bubbling away in the oven so am feeling deserving of a break!!

Next week, I am going to get DH to take the charger to work with him. I neeeeeed to get on as we can't decorate until we are more sorted. I have a mountain of stuff so sort out for either the next NCT sale or ebay.

LackaDAISYcal · 13/02/2009 13:29

DD doesn't really drink much milk at all now. she has a spouted cup in the morning, then with her brekkie and usually about two inches in a cup with lunch and dinner and that's it unless she asks for it. She doesn't usually have anything before bed any more as she just stopped drinking it and we were wasting more than she was drinking. She sometimes asks, but not often, maybe once every couple of weeks.

There is a great bit in the MN Toddler book about how much they should be eating in terms of grams of protein/dairy/carbs etc and how much is in say a cube of cheese, etc. Very reassuring on the food intake front. I'll email it or put it on fb if anyone is interested but doesn't want to buy the book!

Off to catch up on the toilet debacle.

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 13:30

BTW, playdates are truly horrible. (either that or my boys pick the most ill-mannered friends, the one who is coming tonight once tried to lick someones feet, and was once found with dirty laundry out of the basket upstairs pretending to sniff it. I think it was DS1s pants.
I am not fond of OPC at all. DS1s best friend is mainly OK because they are old enough to be self-sufficient and are reasonably nice to the littlies, I only get impatient with them when I am having a bad day. Poor DS2 hasn't had a proper playdate (apart from the nightmare from down the road who sneaks in from time to time)

what is the alternative M&S starter?

I am getting the cough and cold lurgy

sounds like a nice night out Tbelle.

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 13:32

don't do it daisy, all reasoned debate has locked itself in the bathroom and ain't coming out.

I went to the chippy for lunch and now I feel sick (serves me right, fat cow)

TALLULAHBELLE · 13/02/2009 13:48

Daisy of your sleep. We had a dreadful night. DTs out of synch so always one girning, feeding or refusing to settle. Gets better around 12 weeks, doesn't it? [clutches at straws].

Bumper - not sure about the milk. I have been wondering if DD getting enough/too much. She hasn't had a bottle since she started having cow's milk (around 12 months) so I don't measure it, just pour some in a cup. She has a drink of milk with each meal & sometimes more if she asks for it between meals. I thought she was filling up a bit on it so try to give her water instead through the day. She eats lots of cheese, yoghurt etc & always has cereal/porridge with milk for brekkie so I think she gets enough calcium. No idea really is what I'm trying to say.

Feel for you Ria. I am not keen on other people's DCs either (is that a bad thing for a primary teacher to say???). Or rather I'm not keen on opc who don't know how to behave, or on parents who fail to bring them into line. [grumpy old woman emoticom]

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 13:55

LOL Tbelle. I have this bizarre idea from time to time that I would like to teach, and I always say to DH I'm well qualified to train because I don't actually like kids

And I do know my kids are far from perfect, but they would also get a bollocking for behaving badly (actually poor DS1 once got into trouble cos the child who is coming tonight cried because DS had been mean to him. I took him home and sent DS to bed, turned out the OC had been crying because DS beat him fairly at a game It is all too similar to a friend I had at school and I don't want DS1 to go through that now he doesn't have to)

baggins has gone to sleep on my on the settee - I can't do anything now

Re milk - jamlet has a spouted beaker of milk with breakfast and before bed. It holds 150ml,so she has between 100-150 each time.

btw Bumper, did you realise you used DD's name in that last post?

Ohforfoxsake · 13/02/2009 14:14

There's a thread with the link on, its on the M&S website if you want to drool over it! I'm off tomorrow morning to get mine. Shame DP isn't around, but I have a single friend coming over so we will eat it and watch a film.

I'm with you, not keen on OPC (took me a while to work that one out!) but its got to be done. For one, you get rid of your kids (yes the downside is you have to have them back). I want my kids to want their friends over, especially when they are older. So I know where they are and what they are doing.

Controlling? Moi?

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/02/2009 14:15

And ideas please? I have prawns in the freezer, and want to make a starter for dinner tommorow. We are having pheasant for main, and mango, yoghurt and mini meringues for pudding. I'd like to keep the starter low fat & healthy too but am short on inspiration.

Ohforfoxsake · 13/02/2009 14:22

I'm not sure about prawns, I only like big juicy king prawns sizzling in garlic butter with chunks of crusty bread to dip. mmmmmm.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 13/02/2009 14:29

That's what I thought of Foxy, but not v low fat!

Ohforfoxsake · 13/02/2009 14:34

How about grilling them on skewers, on a few salad leaves and a chilli and vinigarette dressing?

keepingitRia · 13/02/2009 14:58

stir fried in garlic, chilli & a little olive oil?

DS1 has been home by himself an hour - I forgot how much he talks!

HellHathNoFury · 13/02/2009 15:25

Well yes, I am officially PG.
EDD 21/08 - 2 weeks sooner than I thought.
EEK!

Fury

Burns - could you say that your DD finds her DD a bit "extreme", so that's why you're meeting without your DD? Implies that there's something a bit OTT about her DD without being toorude about it?

Jamlet and I just had kebabs for tea. Yum! But I ate beetroot because a) it's good for me and b) if I expect her to eat whatever she's given,I should lead by example. But yuk!

LittleMissNorty · 13/02/2009 17:53

Hello all

All this talk of nice meals for tomorrow........might have to go a buy steak....not for Valentines you understand...just sounds nice to have a half decent meal. We have been living off things I cooked before DS was born....chilli, spag bol, shepherds pie etc, and take-aways. I suppose at some point I'm going to have to resume housework and cooking

As far as milk goes, DD has a large soft spouted cup with about 9oz of milk in first thing in the morning, but that's it other than a bit in her breakfast. Eats plenty of diary though so not worried.

Wouldn't worry about bottles - altohugh DD doesn't use one any more, she still has a dummy to sleep with, and quite frankly, its not a battle worth fighting atm!

TALLULAHBELLE · 13/02/2009 18:15

Hi Norty- how are you?

Pah to V day, DH doesn't 'do' Valentines. I don't really believe in it either tbh but wouldn't turn my nose up @ flowers, pressies or a nice meal. Steak dinner sounds good Norty, but don't rush into domestic chores too soon. Once you've shown willing there's no going back.

Bumperslucious · 13/02/2009 18:46

Nice flower burns! TBH we don't do V day either, just an excuse to have some nice food.

God I'm exhausted after an afternoon with two friends and 3 toddlers and a newborn. We made and iced heart shaped cookies and made V day cards for daddies. Fecking exhausting though! Spend most of the afternoon trying to stop DD from poking the baby's eyes out.

Thanks for pointing out about the post. Have reported it.
