bloody miserable day here - rain rain cold and rain. heating on and thanks to lots of leftover pie we shall not be venturing out!!!

we all slept in so DH had to drive DD1 to the school and launch her in she's still not 100% so think I may curb the after school activities this week to see if that helps

DD2 away to nursery for the day and Dylan still not on great form. Her top tooth has cut so it could still be a bit of that but I just feel she's not great - Dylan is normally a very content placid smiley baby but not today some neurofen and a feed so now she's down for a sleep - fingers crossed

DH's dad had his retirement do last night so they phoned a bit worse for wear afterwards! the local council are having a civic reception for him which I think is lovely, he'd been there for 40+yrs. they're also coming over to visit possibly at end of Feb so shall need some rescue remedy/wine/vodka to then!!!

I have declared today a 'sod all' day - cosey up and keep warm!!!

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 12:13

sazz enjoy your lunch
buckets hope he continues to have a lovely day - I love transformers too
TS agree completely there is nothing nicer when you get complete eye contact with the wee one and they reach out - well expect Dylan's nails are like razors at the momemt

ann agree with the others, if it IS an ear infection it is raelly sore on them, I missed it when DD2 had one but the minute the anti-biotics kicked in it was great. what about his teeth, how are they doing? Dylan cut her first two no bother but these next 2 are sore. Have you tried Nelson's Teetha powders - they're fabulous and don't need to be kept only for teething, can be used when they're grizzly too

cyteen sorry to hear you had a bad night too, if it IS the hormone rollercoaster then I'm definately on it with you! totally ripped the head off DH for no reason this morning - well there was a reason but not one that justified my ridiclious reaction but I made him a sausage buttie and all is well

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 12:58

A'rternoon all.

Timely talk about BFing - I was chatting to DH about this yesterday. He is happy for me to continue after 6 months but said, "I don't want a child of mine BF after 1 year"
I smiled and pretended that he had translated badly from French to English - a handy delusion.

I will aim for 9 months and see how we go. Izzy isn't 6 months till the end of Feb, actually as she was born on the 30th she will never be 6 months. Or maybe we could count 2nd March [confused emoticon]

I'm glad we aren't the only ones not at it like rabbits. I was a bit worried by the 7 days a week challenge that was going on recently. DH not at all bothered about dual purpose boobage, it bothers me much more, I look in the mirror and they just don't look like mine - especially when I am having a lopsided day.

It took me until I was 30 or so to really really be comfortable with my body and now I feel like I have to start all over again with the changes that have occured.

Izzy woke at 10, 1.30, 5 and then up for good at 6.45

After feeding her I played dead and DH and PILs looked after until I woke up again at 8.30

Been quite a nice day so far. Her snufflicoius is demanding my attention.

pertelote · 03/02/2009 13:10

Happy Birthday to your DS Buckets! Like Cyteen said, 4 is the first birthday I remember - my grandmother sent me a musical rotating cake stand! So hope he has a perfect day.

Another day indoors for us too. Comfort food, TV and knitting, mmmmmm. Dizzy can understand how your mum's knitting might be a sad thought but if you could bear it, it could also be really special to finish something she'd started. If it was something in a teeny size perhaps it could be made to fit a special doll or teddy for Dylan? Love the idea of a thread knitalong too! What could we make?

oopsacoconut · 03/02/2009 13:13

Steak - DD is the same as Izzy, she was also born on the 30th. We were discussing when she would be 6 months for weaning. It is our anniversary on the 28th so we will stat then as a treat for me!

We had wake ups at 10, 2.15 5.15 and 7.30 - ravenous all times so I am okay with it, if it was just beacause I might not be so happy.

oopsacoconut · 03/02/2009 13:16

Pertelote - All I can successfully knit is scarves and slippers. Anything bigger and I lose interest fast!

Steaknife · 03/02/2009 14:16

I was lingering outside the wool shop today, but didn't go in. My mum sent me an unfinished jumper that I started yonks ago and I have several unfinished sewing projects on the go too.

But I do like the idea of a knit-a-long.

Maybe something simple like a scarf - no need for shaping and if it takes six years to finish we or our lil'ones won't have outgrown it.
Or maybe we could do something like this

cyteen · 03/02/2009 14:53

btw dizzy it's a doss day here as well - we are both still in our pyjamas boy is sparko on my lap, i have just had leftover chickpea curry for lunch (homemade though ).

Steaky i'd like to see our version of that someone on another board i frequent has said she'll knit me a little stegosaurus for Joe. i saw one she made for someone else and had to ask, it is so cute

Buckets · 03/02/2009 15:16

Hey Cyteen, glad you're getting through some stuff. Have a listen to this (get a tissue ready).

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 15:46

I haven't knitted since I was about 6 so I think the chances of me actually finishing something are very slim!! Shall be brave and get it next time I'm through [brave emoticon]

DH gone to work and left me with one miserable DD1 as I brought her home from school and didn't let her go to her after school sports club. DD2 being brought home from nursery by friend at same time as he collects his DD so thats good of him and Dylan apparently napping for 20mins again

ok, weaning question. anyone who has started, is it getting easier or harder? Dylan was doing fine managing to muck about with lots of things - I wouldn't say actually eating them per say but at least getting something down (if the nappies were anything to go by ) but we don't seem to be getting anywhere. I know she's teething and a touch out of sorts but its still demoralising somewhat

and my fecking all singing all dancing high chair STILL isn't here and don't get me started on the email they sent me back - DD1 (5yrs) has better grammar/sentence structure and use of the english language

anyway, enough from Ranty McRanty

cyteen · 03/02/2009 15:48

you didn't order from Two Left Feet did you dizzy?

is dylan a catnapper as well then? i am feeling v demoralised about joe's half hour habits, nothing i try seems to make a difference. i am hoping he will grow out of it

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 15:51

she was getting to be a great wee napper Cyteen but all of a sudden she's not although it has only been since the weekend so maybe the jaunt down to my dad's knocked her out somewhat

wasn't two left feet they're horrors! I normally use Kiddiecare but found it cheaper and with free delivery on Bambino Direct - they're now telling me there is a problem with the supplier and I should have it by the end of next week I ordered it on 6th Jan

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 15:56

infact here's the email for a laugh

Hi Sir, We do apolagise sincerely for any delay you have incurred in waiting for your 3 sixti high chair in tomato we have currently been delayed from the suppliers but we are due them in by the end of this week sir as soon as we have them in stock we will dispatch them to yourselves and send you an email to confirm the dispatch and the delivery date.I hope this hasn?t caused to much inconvinence sir as your order is very important to us.Any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us. Warmest Regards,***,Bambino Direct.

names have been changed to protect the innocent AND remember I used my full name when writing to them about it and there is no way my name could be considered unisex!!!

cyteen · 03/02/2009 15:59

oh dear god i feel ashamed on their behalf.

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 16:01

now I'm all up for work experience but FFS don't be giving them their own email accounts to represent your company

AnnVan · 03/02/2009 16:06

Dizzy I've seen threads on here about Bambino direct. Have heard appalling things about them.

HV was lovely. It was sooooo good to have someone say to me 'It's natural to be angry when you're losing sleep, it's natural to be teary and a bit hysterical. Sleep deprivation is a form of torture' instead of criticising me.

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 16:08

oh noooooooooooooooooooo I have a feeling I'll be writing a harshy worded letter of complaint at this rate - serves me right for straying from the sanctity of Kiddiecare

am glad you've got a good HV, mine with DD2 was an ABSOLUTE godsend and this time they've been very good although I haven't needed them as much

which is funny considering but after DD2 I wa in a right state and she got me through it all

is great to have someone impartial to talk to who understands

Buckets · 03/02/2009 16:12

Dizzy We are getting nowhere really with weaning although he's lost his appetite a bit this week, think it's a bit of DD's sick bug. Completely forgot to give him one meal a day today, can't be bothered now.

rotterpotter · 03/02/2009 16:15

Ann I'm pleased to hear your HV was a good 'un. Seems like they're quite rare. Hope you feel better for getting that off your chest.

Dizzy I think there must be something in the air as DS has also refused to nap more than 20 minutes for the last two days and he was up every hour again last night . Think I'm off for a 9pm bedtime tonight to try and catch up.

Went to take DS to drop-in-clinic today to get weighed in anticipation of weaning (haven't been since he was 6 weeks old ) but it was bloody closed. And when I went to collect DD from nursery they were watching Toy Story there were only half a dozen children in, you'd think they could have thought of something for them to do . Three inches of snow (which is nearly all gone anyway) and the fecking place collapses .

And breathe...!

rotterpotter · 03/02/2009 16:17

Oh yes, hope your DS1 is having a lovely birthday Buckets, and LOL that on the day your DS2 is 6 months old and you're 'allowed' to give him food, you forget!

pertelote · 03/02/2009 16:55

Dizzy aaaargh about that email! Shocking. BTW I bet there are lots of your mum's friends/family who would be honoured to finish her knitting for you - and if not, I certainly would be. If that's what you wanted, of course.

Ann so glad your HV was sympathetic. Sounds like just the right words at the right time. There's one at our clinic who's been great as well - so reassuring about DD's weight and health when we were worried.

alittlebitshy · 03/02/2009 18:45

we are actually doing well with the weaning but I'm being boring and predictable and doing purees!

ann Hv sounds great!

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 19:14

ALBS nothing wrong with purees, and my god if its working then brilliant! Dylan won't even entertain a spoon at the minute

I, on the other hand, am playing Revel Russian Roulette

DD1 couldn't keep her eyes open past 6pm so was put to bed

Dylan and DD2 in bath, now both in bed - although DD2 still banging about

I have tidied up dinner stuff, put on washing & tumble drier and going to put on dishwasher once DD2 stops her nonsense then I'm off to bed too - try to give myself at least a fighting chance!

dizzydixies · 03/02/2009 19:16

bleurgh, coffee one
