regarding sleep...
does anyone one remember the sleep patterns our los fad in the womb. ann? i must admit reese follows her pattern nicely.

and on the subject of those 4am feeds where you can't get back to sleep...
that is why i'm in boot camp at 5am. if you can't go back to sleep then get up, do a little exercising then lay back down.

captain, i don't know. maybe by the end of the month. i've never done an unexpected renovation before. i have no plans. no timeline. i'm totally out of my element. LOL

sambo DS only just recently started taking a bottle here (at 25wks) but only from me, not DP. might be worth seeing if your DS is the same.

this week is "get DS to sleep in his cot" week. Without co-sleeping for the last few months, no way i would have been able to function given how often he wakes during the night but it has to happen at some point so let the games begin!

Miamla · 01/02/2009 14:29

ooh TS, no timeline? you're living life on the edge

AnnVan · 01/02/2009 14:56

I wish I'd known a new series of The Big Bang Theory had started. Now I don't know how much I've missed, and what's happening. I don't really watch much telly, but this is the only recent series that I've got into.
TS I'll have to get some kind of exercise DVD to work out to at 3 am. Only thing with that is I've always found exercise leaves me feeling really energised, so best time to do it would be morning really.

TwilightSurfer · 01/02/2009 15:41

Ann here is the Big Bang Theory US link. We're a few episodes ahead of you. I forgot to set my dvr to tape this season but I really like the show.

As for early morning workout video, just make sure it's something you can do without sound. If I were your personal trainer I would just suggest you do some very basic exercises first (example: pushups and crunches and jumping jacks). If you have a jump rope that's an excellent activity that gets you moving. Just step out on your front or back walk (in the cold) and jump jump jump. You will feel awsome afterwards.

Miamla, that's me LIVING ON THE EDGE.

vg, hope things went well and that you are having a lovely day.

ann/cyteen anyone else with not much sleep. There is no failure about not functioning after months of minimal sleep. I read somewhere recently that just waking for 20mins once a night decreases your capability to function after (I think) about a week, so everyone is doing well to still be able to dress themselves . As cc says, it does get better, and remarkably, after a couple of weeks of full nights, you will have pretty much forgotten the broken nights.
Having said that... dd is a dream (once a night if that) but ds2 has been up at around 3am pretty much every night for the last goodness knows how long. So it all goes round in circles.
Just think, there will be a time (teenage years) when you are desperately trying to get them up and out of bed

ann what about exercise of a dp inclusion sort at 4am? Surely he wouldn't complain about being woken for that

ts lovely new stuff! We will be expecting a virtual feast when it is all installed!

ali awww, that's sooo sweet, not surprised your heart was melting.

Wee bit of snow here - no enough to settle, but sounds like later in the week might be fun.

ataraxis · 01/02/2009 15:53

and rotter, thanks

cyteen · 01/02/2009 16:15

thanks all i have cheered up a fair bit now. we've all bedded down indoors for the day as it's been snowing all afternoon and is farking freezing - no wonder we needed the heating on all night last night (and joe still came in with us anyway).

shhh. don't tell the weaning board but i gave joe a taste of banana today just a few tiny blobs of banana smush to suck off the end of my finger. he looked like he found it an interesting experience. not planning to start feeding him as such, just give him the odd taste of things before weaning starts in earnest.

pertelote · 01/02/2009 16:21

Goodness, have only been away a few days but there's no way I can catch up properly. Really sorry to hear about ongoing bad nights though. Actually we have had better sleep here since going away - maybe in the same way that a change of scene can disrupt a good routine it can give a bad one the jolt it needs? Might be worth a try if it's possible, and if you're feeling that things can't get any worse.

sazzles I have long sleeved 6 to 9s so if you still can't find let me know and I'll send them......henry is just about out of them. may keep one in case I can't get 9-12s (forgot when shopping last week) but...

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/02/2009 17:30

sazzles that dress is lovely.
Snowy here too and very very cold.
Ali that is so sweet of your dh. Ds as also been more vocal and touchy feely last few days. He was starring at a pop bottle at my sisters earlier and chatting away to it.

cyteen you are certainly not a failure. Very hard to function on lackof sleep.Think that is why I was so short tempered with dd yesterday.

i remember trying to get dd to take a bottle I used to put as much of her cheek near my boobs as if she was bf and trick her with the bottle.

pertelote Hi, hope you had a lovely few days away.

ann You have really suffered with the sleep deprevation, as ts mentions you hardly got any when pregnant. Glad dp helpes out.

To all our FBGs (and non-FBGs) follow the link on this thread. They should make you chuckle

Buckets · 01/02/2009 18:47

Long sleeved vests and other brightly coloured things here

Feel like I've achieved quite a bit today, sorting handmedowns, organising DH's music collection, basic housework, lunch from scratch. Although for once I'm actually seeing the mess, crap-hoarding and filth in my house today so not a 100% contented little mummy. Don't know what's come over me, usually I can turn a blind eye.

DH's friend is staying over tonight for the Superbowl so Chinese later, yay!

DD has only been sick once today but has also only eaten 2 biscuits so she will stay home tomorrow. She's been so stoical up in her room all weekend bless her, I asked her if I could get her anything and she said 'Some company.'

Miamla · 01/02/2009 18:59

i love the usb memory stick one!!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/02/2009 19:07

Ok so ds has been crying now for nearly an hour he is tired and hungry but is refusing boob
DD in bed dh at work. Not enough bm expressed. TOO stressed to try to express to offer bottle. Dont know what to do.

I know neighbour has formula.

Buckets · 01/02/2009 19:28

Nightmare. Assume you've tried the sling?

rotterpotter · 01/02/2009 19:38

Oh No1 poor you and poor DS. When you say not enough BM, do you have any? Would it be worth trying to give him what you do have and hope he calms down enough to have a breast feed? Or might that just upset him more if he runs out of bottle? Don't know what to suggest for the best

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/02/2009 19:43

Hi yes hes in the Moby, bit calmer but not happy.

I only have 3 oz as not had chance to express much lately.
I tried to put empty bottle teat to his mouth earlier to see if this is what he was waiting for, as he had my last stash of frozen bm in a bottle last night. But he just screamed when I offered.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 01/02/2009 19:55

nearly 2 hours later, he is asleep.......
He will no doubt wake up soon eager for milk (hopefully) as he has not had a feed since 3.
