The Ark in Wimbledon Village. I think their facials are about £50 or so. Very nice, other locations in Fulham and Putney.

Oops! Facials are £70....

spugs · 20/02/2009 17:19

someone slap me please! im worrying i might be pregnant even though it is the most unlikely thing possible! (its like being a teenager again). For starters we use 'protection' and secondly ive just had my period!!!!!! so not possible? right?
i do however have a really manky taste in my mouth (bitter) that i cant get rid of, have been feeling slightly ropey and moody (and i mean really bad). so please slap me tell me its not possible and send me on my way

turtle23 · 20/02/2009 17:28

spugs-It isn't possible. Now go and buy yourself a test ASAP!!! (will happily take on the pregnancy for you. am getting v upset that it isn't working for me)

spugs · 20/02/2009 17:33

just spoke to my sister whos a trainee mw and she reckons it is highly unlikely and to not even think about it dh is having the snip in the near future so it would be very bad! how long have you been trying for turtle?

Dontpanic · 20/02/2009 17:38

aw spugs, we've been winding you up too well on fbook You prob have something sinusy, that or just plain hormones makes things taste funny at times.

spugs · 20/02/2009 18:05

its only cos the thought had crossed my mind!!! i couldnt manage 4 dds!!!

HolidaysQueen · 20/02/2009 18:47

eek, spugs!

turtle - thanks for tip on curry a few days ago when we were talking about food. Just made a veggie curry with things like cabbage and spinach and broccoli in and he wolfed it down!

Dontpanic · 20/02/2009 19:30

forgot the curry conversation - samosas went down a treat on boxing day here, though for his nachos a couple of days ago they thoughfully offered to hold the jalapenos, that would have been interesting

Dog very narky again this morning, been off his food for a few days so may actually have something up with him apart from oldage narkiness. Hope so, the general bad temperedness is not so easily solved

CricketsMum · 20/02/2009 20:12

Thanks JFly - have you had one? are they worth it?

SexOnFire · 20/02/2009 22:37

Hello possums!
Sorry I've been MIA recently. Half term and general busyness etc.
Littleducks ilgb and turtle {{{hugs}}}
Sanam a belated happy birthday, you big girl.
Hello to everyone else and apologies if I've neglected anyone.

What's new here? Well Charlie now has a second tooth comimg through. He is practising standing up without holding on. We started applauding him when he first managed it and now he will do the most pathetic attempt and look round expectantly for congratulations. Dustpan and brushes, loo seats, soles of shoes, stranger's fingers...you name it, it all goes in Charlie's mouth. He'll be 1 next Saturday and I've just bought him a trike. I really wanted a smart trike but they retail at about £50 so I've bought a second hand one off ebay and will buy him a proper one after we've found the £900 we need for DP's course fees in April. Oh, I started college too. I'm doing a Counselling Skills course in Clapham and I love it! Something I've done before but this time I'll get a qualification and hopefully progress.
This might be TMI but had a scan today after having months of terrible bleeding and pain. Not had a follow up yet but the sonographer remarked on my polycystic ovaries. So, DP, you owe me an apology for being pissed off when I'm grumpy. I have a medical reason for being a pain in the ass .Talking of pain, hope your new drug treatment is working Merryberry.

As for meet up I can't do the 1st as that is Charlie's birthday do part 2. Purely because DP's mum won't meet my mum and dad (they still haven't, although my folks have met DP's dad). So my parents Sat, his mum, mum's husband, DP's dad and possibly sisters at DP's dad's house on Sunday. I bet I'm the only one on here whose child has living grandparents who have never met. And I will be expected to put on a spread of food at a house I have to get to by trains from platforms with many steps. And a buggy etc. Well, I'm not cooking again. If they won't come on his actual birthday(and they were invited) I'll be buggered if I do it all again but with difficulty rating squared. Gosh, guess I'm a little worked up about this!
better go now as I really need to get to bed but last but not least welcome to crashfistfight a fellow East Londoner. I used to live in Dalston, firstly Englefield Road (off Essex Rd) and then off Graham Road, Sainsbury's end. And btw, hope I don't disappoint you but my name is a reference to a Kings Of Leon song rather than any comment on my looks or abilities
Night all.

Jaysfinished · 21/02/2009 20:16

lol Well remembered Turtle!

life with kids is all so consuming, thats not to say its great - most of the time, its just so , well consuming, hence why i never get time to come on to Mumsnet anymore, or very rarely anyway, i tend to have FB open all the time, i think its easier to read sometimes!!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, and babes are behaving, if thats the case please can someone tell me how to get it right!!!

xx

merryberry · 22/02/2009 16:02

i have it jay! live next to 8 columbian 20-somethings like me and your baby suddenly seems an angel of silence and sense

merryberry · 23/02/2009 21:45

laughing over here

have just been back to twitter first time in ages and discovered it's kind of riveting to read your tweets after a long break:

'back to evil substantive editing now though :-( Oh wait! Can waste some time sourcing swim nappies.' - summer '07

and

'what a lovely morning, watched a tapir wallow at the zoo, eating algae noodles and eyeing us up suspiciously.' - autumn '07

It's such a funny diary, as you never put anything down of any real substance, like my whole GG pregnancy is mentioned just once when I got a comfy bump band. That's it. But all the little bits of nonsense are such a potent reminder of times.

pantshavenames · 24/02/2009 10:21

Hooray! We now have bumshuffling, pulling up via sofa and staggering 3 steps with zimmer frame. Have to think about putting the cot down to the bottom rung now I guess. At at least I can tell the HV to bog off. .
Have ordered her the ELC trike today for her birthday and she has generously helped out with kitting out the climbing frame for her brother. What's everyone else getting/got?
We had a really lazy halfterm and I felt maybe a little too lazy when DS said this morning that he didn't want to go to nursey because it would impact on his TV time . We did also go to the zoo and swimming so it wasn't all cabbaging. Took DD for the first time and she seemed a fan, if a little shell shocked, probably mainly by a mother who was trying to cover all of herself in 5 inches of water. The swimsuit I bought in tescos broke several decency laws I think.

Dontpanic · 24/02/2009 20:58

Hello Jay'snewname!

Turtle-how was the bf course? No idea if you've got another thread on it as I spend my spare time on fbook and twitter now instead of mnet, slaps hand.

MB, stalking you.

PHN, I think I got a similar swimming cossie- have worn it once as I only found out that little hands like to grip and pull at fabric the hard way. Back to my Next maternity cossie for now

Birthday presents, very difficult - people keep asking me what LO needs and he needs bugger all. Inlaws are prob getting him a swing to keep in their garden for him, we've just got him some abacus type toys from the woolies closing down sale. Another friend is going to get either a tree or a bird table for him as we're having the naming ceremony on his 1st birthday. Trying to find somewhere to buy balloon kit from to decorate the place at the mo!

turtle23 · 25/02/2009 06:13

DP-the course was very very good. So full of info but it all made so much more sense by the end.
I am buyig DS a job lot of plastic food and some pretend kitchen things. The boy is obsessed. Every time we go to playgroup he heads straight for the "kitchen." Hoping it will still appeal at home.

OP posts:
Dontpanic · 25/02/2009 20:40

quick turtle, sign him up for chef school

Today, LO managed to climb up to the 3rd stair...am afraid, very afraid!
At least he has developed more interest in Upsy Daisy and kisses her more than Iggle Piggle.

AnnieLobeseder · 25/02/2009 22:18

Hey ladies, Derah here.

Saw MOM's post on Chat about our LOs getting to be 1, and figured I'd been away FAR TOO LONG!!!! Off to bed now so only had time to scan a few posts, but I will make a big effort to read the thread properly tomorrow and catch up.

Allie is 1 on Sunday, can't believe it!! She's still a pretty crap sleeper, but otherwise a wonderful, happy, contented little thing.

I see some of you are thinking about stopping bf - me too. She gets 4 feeds a day now, with a combo bf and ff at bed time. The last 2 days I've switched her 2 daytime feeds for formula. Just keeping to bf in the morning (cos it's so much easier!) and evening (to stop my boobs exploding during the night!). I went cold turkey with DD1 at 5 months, and it was agony! So I'm trying a staggered approach this time.

Anyway, will catch up properly tomorrow....

merryberry · 26/02/2009 06:29

derah! >merryberry frisks over you like an iverexcited but thankfully continent puppy< hello!

ilovegreenbeans · 26/02/2009 11:03

Hi girls,

Back at work today. Been talking with Dh lots and making plans so hopefully this will be temporary. Boss working from home today so plans to talk to him put on hold for now.

DD v close to crawling- finally! Saw friend this week who's DC3 didn't MOVE until 14 months. No shuffling, flipping onto tummy, nothing. So am reassured that DD is ok

Hi derah!

Hope you're all well xx

FfreckleFface · 26/02/2009 11:25

Hi all. Hope that everyone is having a good week.

ILGB I am so sorry! Meant to get to the post office last week, but our local one only opens three days a week (you've gotta love the countryside) and with all the birthday planning it completely went out of my head. Will be posting it tomorrow. Glad to hear you have a work plan. If it helps at all, freelancing it working really well for me at the moment, and I would recommend it to anyone.

Hoorah for the bumshuffling, PHN (love your new name by the way, made me chuckle).

Birthday party on Sat was great fun, but exhausting. Boydog is afraid of balloons, so the 30 that my MIL bought and insisted I blow up made the weekend a nervous one for him. Ff loved them though! She was thoroughly spoiled. Anticipating this, Bloke and I bought her presents that were more for us - a Rolling Stones t-shirt, an Arsenal kit with her name on the back, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, some bubbles, and a Makka Pakka toy (DP, she is all about Makka Pakka...occasionally Iggle Piggle gets a cuddle, but she doesn't want to know about Upsy Daisy!). I asked my friends to get her books, so she had some awesome board and paperbacks (Meg and Mog, the Gruffalo etc) and a BEAUTIFUL hardback Winnie the Pooh, which is going high on a shelf until she is old enough. Until then she can make do with my copy, complete with scribbles from when I studied it at uni. A swing and lots of clothes from my family, and a big fat cheque from PIL. Have only just finished the party food...I was a bit worried about all of the sugar she consumed (not least the huge chunk of pink icing she ripped off the top of the cake while we were singing to her) but she went to bed at her usual time and we didn't hear a peep until 8 the next morning. (Which I was very grateful for, because we celebrated my birthday in the evening, and I got a bit drunk). I can't believe that she is one now. Scary scary stuff.
