I've just let you in! None of us have uploaded any photos for a while, but for nosey people its nice to see what each other looks like in RL and say oooh and aaah at each others kids! Enjoy!

Lollipop that sounds amazing! I keep thinking about taking T to classes, but they are all at stupid times (5:30pm swimming anyone?), in stupid places (no car) or in a pool that I don't think is heated enough (PFB emoticon).

Eandz come and meet us in Parson's green! We don't have a date yet (unless Lollipop has emailed in the past couple of minutes!), but we should really arrange one. The plan was for early feb. Sorry you're having such a crappo time of it at the moment.

Ponymum I need to do my tax return today, and I know it's going to take me bloody hours, and all I need to inform them is that I earned £0 self employed earnings. Grrrr.

Imoscarsmum and others offering lovely advice to help our evenings, we had an interesting experience yesterday - I was on the phone so ignored T when he shuffled around after only a 20 minute nap in the afternoon, and he nodded off again and slept for about an hour in total. He was up for exactly the same amount of time in the evening (about 3.5 hours of awake time) but he was much happier, and when he did get tired it was 'properly' iykwim, lots of yawning and eye rubbing, and settled relatively quickly when DP took him upstairs. It happened earlier in the week too, but I didn't make the connection until it happened a second time. So have decided that we're going to go with longer afternoon nap for a while, as at least he's happy and awake rather than grumpy! Oh, and he slept from 11:45-5:45!

Carriebo I've just temporarily reactivated my facebook account so I can be nosy, can you accept my request to join the group too?

jenpet · 29/01/2009 13:48

Thank you carriebo I've just been on & posted a couple of pictures & tried to figure out who everyone is...

DebiTheScot · 29/01/2009 13:49

hopefully if you have photos of yourself on your facebook make me your friend (and lollyheart) and then you can see what we look like for Tuesday.

I let ds2 hold a piece of roasted parsnip yesterday and a piece of raw carrot a few days ago while we were eating dinner. He sucked on them but didn't really try to eat them properly and eventually just dropped them. Kept him entertained for a bit while we ate though so that was good.

We got a tray for the bumbo and currently have that sitting on the dining room table, think that could work well for a while before we have to get the high chair out of the loft. Some days he's happy sitting in it for ages others he's not up for it at all. Yesterday he was trying to eat his feet but the tray was in the way, he looked very confused about why it wasn't working!

cant believe i'm going to say this again but i think alfie is having another growth spurt. (16 weeks) Feeding like mad and only sleeping for 30mins max in the day, am finding myself wondering bout formula...

MelT76 · 29/01/2009 15:30

Not been on since before Christmas and boy can you lot talk!!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year (not got time to catch up properly).

Yoj can't write off the tax return fine as an expense unfortunately, but in my experience, they are quite nice and at this time of the year expect the site to be a bit slow and make some kind of extention to the filing date.

Sunshine, unless the company you work for is going into administration, I am pretty sure you can't be made redundant whilst on maternity leave. Give ACAS a call 08457 474747.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/01/2009 15:32

16 weeks is a classic growth spurt. Keep with it plusone. It can be a slog, but it's worth it. Feed, feed, feed and all will be well.

facebook people - I think I have put in a request to join the group. My initials are SG. I have no idea what I am doing on it, but would like to share some photo's.

plusonemore · 29/01/2009 15:42

thanks ILTMIMI , to be honest i think i only posted that cos i knew you would all say that but i just needed to hear it

Well, i am a bit shocked at my local HV. Just went to baby cafe and we had a talk on weaning. Bear in mind that none of the babies are 26wks and all bar myself and 2 other ladies have started weaning (just to give you an idea of mindset).

HV stated firmly that the aim is to reduce the amount of milk (either ff or bm) over 26 weeks to a year - ie drop bottles as soon as baby is ok with this - down to, say 2 bottles when 9 months and none by 12 months. This was a surprise to me as I think everyone here is saying milk is best till one, with food being introduced over that time.

I then asked about BLW. No one had heard of it (not even nursery nurse we had there), except HV who said she had heard of it but it was not something to be attempted and was wrong. She said this in a "so, you want to give C food on a tray and bugger off to watch jeremy kyle don't you" kind of way.
I tried to explain what i thought it was but she was adamant the choking risk too great and finger food should not be given until 9 or 10 months. She then started going on about how lumpy foods were needed before finger foods to develop C's vocal chords (WTF - isn't that what finger food will help with too? ).

Oh and then she said no shellfish at all until one at earliest.

So, my dear gurus, is she talking rubbish, toeing the party line or have we all got it wrong??!

Oh, and hopefully waterbabies do weekend lessons too if week ones are no good -that way DP can also take T.

imoscarsmum · 29/01/2009 16:26

Eandz just seen lovely photos on facebook. Noah is gorgeous and you need to shoot whoever is telling you that you're fat. Bloody hell you are not!

imoscarsmum · 29/01/2009 16:32

Just added photos on facebook too!

starlight I only know how many weeks ds2 is when digitalgirl mentions how old her ds is as they were born 1 day apart. I think with number 2 you don't worry so much about how many weeks they are. It doesn't seem to matter. And in terms of food, he'll get it when he's ready not when he's x number of weeks old.

Bit of advice I was given with ds1 (and I think its good) was that for the first couple of months to give the milk before the food and not the other way round which is what my mum (who is usually pretty good with her advice) and the books said to do. That way they still get more milk than anything else.
