ooh yes - we've noticed ds doesn't choke as dramatically as he used to! Even thinking about tackling rice again soon - he's such a drama queen when it comes to anything lumpy!!

TracyK · 07/04/2005 21:48

I'm hopeful for starting potty training in the summer. ds will be running around naked most of the time so should be able to catch him 'doing' the toilet more easily and pop the potty underneath him. Haven't quite worked out what to say to him to alert him to the fact that he is pee peeing.

hewlettsdaughter · 07/04/2005 22:23

I thought she'd died too dot1 - there was a thread about it I think (I get far too much of my news via mumsnet )

dolbear, beer and bbq sound good to me. MrsD, we're away next week but we could meet up after we get back?

did anyone c that prog on ch4 l/night b4 birth , realy interesting if a bit odd

Chuffed · 08/04/2005 08:59

bbq and drinks sounds good dolbear. I also read that Tracy Hogg had died, maybe she wrote it before she died and it has only just been published?
Food has definately come into it's own while in Turkey, dd pretty much eats anything, loves rice, chowed down on peas last night, pasta, quorn, loves vege fritters, lumpy vege soup.
MrsD how is your dd this morning?
dot did you see little angels the other night the little girl wouldn't go to the toilet, even if she was standing right beside the door to the toilet she would just wet herself (no nappy).

TracyK · 08/04/2005 09:53

I didn't watch the after birth thingy last night as I was too scared I'd get broody!

dot1 · 08/04/2005 10:12

No - didn't see the programme. I think ds1's the only one in his nursery class now not potty trained - one day last week they didn't change his nappy for the whole day... Dp was furious and I had to speak to them - I think because they don't take him to the toilet they'd just forgotten...

Finding this first birthday thing quite emotional! Keep thinking this time last year I was heading into hospital, and little did I know what was in store... Went past the hospital on the train to work this morning and nearly started crying!

LucyJones · 08/04/2005 10:14

I know what you mean Dot1 - I'm so glasd the first year is over to be honest though. I don't feel broody at all looking at little babies either which is lucky as dh is still saying no more babies!!

Chuffed · 08/04/2005 10:19

have been feeling quite emotional about it for a bit now. Finding it extremely hard to take dd to nursery in the mornings etc and hating work again...it probably has something to do with the 1 year thing, I just can't believe it.

LucyJones · 08/04/2005 10:20

It's gone by so fast hasn't it?!!

KristinaM · 08/04/2005 11:04

Sorry to digress - Dot dont worry about DS1. DD wasn't toilet trained until just before her third birthday. To be honest, she just doesn't mind the feeling of wet nappies. She's also a very stubborn child who does things at HER time not ours!!! Maybe DS1 is just the same????

TracyK · 08/04/2005 11:27

I've so chuffed with my purchase from Tesco I just had to tell you all!
I got 4 lovely bowls - turquoise in colour - just the right size for feeding ds, and can be put in mwave (fed up burning my blooming fingers on plates). Plastic - but nice plastic - part of their outdoor range I think for the summer.
4 for 66P!!!! I'm going back for more! They do salad serving bowls etc too.

lunavix · 08/04/2005 13:16

Tracyk - they sound great!

GOd we're only just coping with nappies Im not thinking of toilet training for a year at least....

Does anyone know anywhere you get nice plates with suction cups from? We've had yet another stressful lunch time with ds throwing his plate on the floor! Want to start letting him feed himself with a spoon too (no haven't started yet ) and am DEFINATELY not starting in this plate throwing stage!

dot1 · 08/04/2005 15:27

we've not started letting ds2 feed himself either with a spoon! Can't imagine when he will be ready - 18??!

Chuffed · 08/04/2005 15:38

dd is preferring finger food at the moment and would rather be fed with an adults fork (things like rice etc) so we are quite happy to not have her trying to feed herself for a while. We were going through about 4 spoons a session on a tub of yoghurt.

Fennel · 08/04/2005 18:30

dd3 is only keen on finger food or feeding herself with a spoon - she's getting hungry as she's not very proficient at it.

will not be trying to toilet train for another year - whatever the baby whisperer woman says I don't personally know any children who were much under 2 years and they were the very early ones. I know lots who were well over 3, some nearly 4 even.

I havne't found suction plates that actually work, a determined baby will spend a lot of time ripping them off the table and enjoying the noise they make coming off - maybe ours were too cheap?

TracyK · 09/04/2005 12:59

I got a good suction plate from John Lewis. It works most of the time.

LucyJones · 09/04/2005 19:36

I think ds might be teething again - he was really grouchy today which is unlike him. Although he didn't have much sleep today so it could have just been that.

hunkermunker · 09/04/2005 22:10

LJ - DS is teething too - think he's getting his molars. Would not recommend it! Poor babies - I just wish I could explain what's happening and he could tell me what was wrong! Also has query ear infection - if he's no better tomorrow, he's going to the doctor

Chuffed · 11/04/2005 09:27

Happy birthday to ds2 dot and dd MrsD!!!!
Hope you had good birthdays in the weekend.

TracyK · 11/04/2005 13:51

ds may be teething - not in pain - but drooling like mad and now has a rash on his chin.

dolbear · 11/04/2005 21:26

afetr being smug about choking ! ds has been sicky all w/end , but have discovered cause , is laso teething , would not mind , but they all fall out in a couple of years

dolbear · 12/04/2005 12:52

re letting ds have the spoon , have compromised and let him have it when there is only av small amount of dnner in the bowl , thus reducijng volume of mess , a little does seem to go a long way though.

LucyJones · 12/04/2005 20:10

Can I just ask how much going out/seeing people everyone does? I tend to spend a lot of time just me and ds. We go for walks, to the library etc but so far haven't been to any groups. Ds still goes to nursery one day a week but i'm starting to think he should be interacting more with children - or am I a bit early for that? He seems quite happy at home playing with his toys. What do you all do?
