Morning all, quick check in before we attempt to go out for lunch - dd was successfully baptised yesterday and I swear she was looking the priest firmly in the eye as he was praying over her just after the clothing with the white robe. and fell asleep for the whole of the reception which meant she could be handed round all the aunts and uncles quite happily - apparently it's a kind of defence mechanism - "have been awake and active for ages, all systems must now shut down for a bit"! She had a bit of a meltdown in the evening though so I stayed at home with her and missed mil's 70th dinner and was pretty emotional myself, put her in the sling and didn't want to let her go, even when she was asleep and should have been in bed )bad mummy).

Will pop back to do personals when shes having a snooze but for now, big hugs to everyone and hope you've got sunshine, makes the world seem a cheerier place

JamInMyWellies · 18/01/2009 12:31

Girls the thing to think of when BF is just to get through each feed luckily this time round we are doing ok but with DS1 I had a terrible time and the only way I could do was thinking one feed at a time.

Off to the outlaws for Sunday dinner shortly does anyone else just not get on with their inlaws for no real reason?

Jam it is inbuilt into our DNA, actually I like most of my inlaws just my SiL, driving me particularly mental at the mo, looking forard to seeing my new nephew but not to her. As usual life with a newborn seems so much harder for her than me but in a few months the comparisons will starts, hers sleeps through the night why doesn't ours hers is doing this and that is ours all that sort of thing. I never really have the energy to be bothered with it all but I know I gets to DH so that is why it annoys me.
Anyway we are off to see some more Standing stones the Arbor low ones. Love this country for all that sort of thing brings out my inner pagan.

traceface · 18/01/2009 15:57

hello!
lovely sunshine here too! still mighty cold though!
today i'm feeling very much in love with phoebe! not that i don't normally love her, but today i feel all gooey inside and just could eat her!!!
sorry about the bf problems people are having - hope you find a solution that suits you soon
jj glad your special day went well and good on you for indulging in some extra cuddles. IMO you can't get enough cuddles!!!

kayzr · 18/01/2009 17:59

Evening,

We've just taken the side off DS1's cot. We took him upstairs to show him and he seems to like it. He climbed straight into bad and pretended to snore. I'm hoping he will stay in bed.

DS2 has been unsettled all day. It took ages to get him to go to sleep earlier. He looks exhausted bless him.

traceface · 18/01/2009 17:59

zoe my belly is still a bit fluffy and also i've still got that big brown line going down it - it doesn't seem to have faded at all! some of my skin tag things seem to have gone though.

now for a question of my own...did anyone else end up with really bad piles? according to the bupa info, mine would be '4th degree' - ie they hang down all the time and can't be pushed back in (sorry tmi!). cream seems to do nothing. they don't really hurt but should i see the doc? and if i do would they do anthing? i've googled it and sometimes they tie them off so they die and fall off, and sometimes they do surgery to remove them. i want them gone but it's such a private place i don't know if i'd rather just put up with them.

sorry for lack of capitals - child on boob as usual!

traceface · 18/01/2009 18:09

for pudding after lunch today i had a massive wedge of apple pie, a cream egg and a galaxy bar - do you think i've exceeded my extra 500 calories for BF?

kayzr · 18/01/2009 18:11

Nah, have another cream egg!!!!

I have been starving all day, I have been so hungry, I keep trying to eat healthy but its not working to well.

traceface · 18/01/2009 18:32

me too kayz! i say listen to your body! did you get your Macdonalds on Friday?

Phoebe's wee has gone really smelly for a few days. i can tell when she's done a wee coz it stinks - even through clothes. She seems fine otherwise and doesn't seem to have a high temp, so do you think it's ok? if it was a uti she would be poorly. any thoughts?

kayzr · 18/01/2009 18:55

Yeah I did, it was sooo nice. I hadn't had one in ages.

I can't help with the wee thing I'm afraid.

Indith · 18/01/2009 19:41

Ds is sooooo lovely with dd most of the time, really he is but my god he isn't half becoming a whinging, moaning, moody little sod.

Sorry

But he is

And I know he is 2 years old and it comes as standard.

And I know he is coming to terms with having a little sister.

But it doesn't make it any easier!

Anyway the reason for my absence is that ds has been having night terrors and other nocturnal behaviour to epic proportions so while dd has been crashing out most evenings by 9 and is being a star (as much as a 3/4 week old can be) with just a couple of feeds a night (well ok she stays awake for a good hour or 2 after one of them and is unsettles in her sleep after the other) I am shattered and only get on the computer to check work e-mail!

Hope all are ok and that I can catch up soon

Turniphead1 · 18/01/2009 19:46

Trace on the piles...I have seen a colorectal consultant during pg for mine - and he says, when you are done having kids you can go and have the veins removed. They do actually do it under GA - but no point doing it if you may have more children.

I need to get mine done - along with my prolapse in wall of fanjo (luvverly) and may just get a tummy tuck at the same time and do for it!! Oh the toll pregnancy and childbirth takes on the body. How has your tear healed? (given that we are speaking of nether regions!)

Jump well done on getting through the chistening - sounds lovely. Sorry you missed the 70th but sounds like it would have been too much.

jam great photos!

Turniphead1 · 18/01/2009 19:48

indith cross-posted. Hugs, solidarity (we are having similar with our middle DC) and ...this too will pass. He will adapt - but I know how wearing it is! Sometimes I just want to spend all my time with my lovely newborn and not listen to my loud demanding older two (although I love them dearly).

traceface · 18/01/2009 20:21

Turnip - the tear seems to be fine now thank you. Stitches all healed and dissolved as far as I know, and the graze has healed too, so no more towel-biting and crying when I pee! Your lady-zone seems to have gone through mill - hope it all gets repaired in due course...

indith - sorry you're having a tough time with your DS. I think it's ok to feel annoyed with them because they can be little buggers. I imagine that if you hadn't just had a baby you wouldn't be so hard on yourself about it. I know I feel bad for getting cross with dd1 when we've turned her world upside down, but then I have to remind myself that she drove me mad before dd2 came along, and I'm still the parents, and there are still rules, and she still needs discipline, baby sister or not!

Anyone heard from Effie? not seen her on here for a little while...hope all is well xxx

Well can I just share something (but don't tell DH because he'd shoot me if he knew I was writing this!)...
we're having a nice evening...both dds in bed and asleep by 7.15pm, sex (first time in about 367 years - well since about 4 months preg!), and a chinese takeaway! There is life after child birth...!

waitinggirl · 18/01/2009 21:08

can i ask a quick question? madam's poos have gone a green colour - what does that mean? it's not every one, but at least one or two a day now for the past 2-3 days. am trying to google as well...

Kimberly1979 · 18/01/2009 21:10

Trace I still have the brown line down my tummy too. It doesn't seemed to have faded at all either. I'm hoping it will go away and not be permanent. Although DH thinks it's cool. Not sure I can help on Phoebe's stinky wee. I do have a friend who's girl had UTI's when she was an infant. I can ask her about it if you'd like. Seems like I remember her saying that her DD had a fever and was pretty ill when she had the UTI.

kayzr · 18/01/2009 21:58

We took the side of DS1's cotbed today. He is asleep in it and hasn't tried to get out yet.

Just wait until the morning when I come and tell you all he jumped on us at 4 or something

SummerLightning · 18/01/2009 22:04

Hi everyone!
Have left MILs now and now at parents in Malvern so proper chilling out time being looked after by them and getting time off time while the grandparents play with DS. Nice time at MILs!! She was slightly annoying coming up with constant theories on how to breastfeed and how it works backed up by her knowledge of milking cows! Well...thanks, but I am not a cow!!

Katie where do you live? I like the hills too, we went for a walk up there this morning which was nice, weather was lovely. i went to school in Malvern as well, to the Chase, where did you go?

wg glad you had a good night, you deserve it.
We had a good night last night but it followed two shockers at the MILs (which is worse as obviously she has "theories" on why!).

Sorry to hear about the BFing troubles, I hope you can get some help or get it sorted mibbes and kim. My boobs are getting quite sore at the moment, i think I might go to a BF clinic and get some advice before it gets worse.

Wg I think the green poo means they are not getting hind milk, we had a green poo yesterday as well, DS had been snacking rather than draining either of my boobs so makes sense. i think not a problem if it is occasional?

trace hooray for the takeaway and sex!! Sorry don't know about the piles question thing.

Sorry to hear about all the toddler problems as well. Cannot imagine how you all manage with more than 1!!

veggie yes I am going to get back into cycling asap, but can't do it at the moment as still not recovered from c/s. Can't wait though! Will probably not be racing this year though, most races are a bit of a trek from here, and I prefer long races (4hrs +) so not really practical with a baby/feeding, etc. Also would be a bit depressing. Think I will just get enjoying it again. Am also thinking of buying big wardrobe took, but may wait and see if some of the weight just "falls off". God I'm hopeful!

Gotta go, Mr Trouble is screaming!

waitinggirl · 18/01/2009 22:05

i, too, have the linea negra still (apparently can take up to a year to go). apparently green poo is a sign of too much foremilk - hell! she's feeding for AGES. should i be expressing and chucking the first bit of what comes out of my boob???

Veggiemummy · 18/01/2009 22:58

WG if it only a couple of poos each day that is fine it is just that the occasional feed he isn't getting the hindmilk or he has had a little snack instead of a full feed. Just always check your latch is ok and if it is a short feed and then they want some more a little later pop him on the same boob.

Had a great day the Arbor low stones were great a bit blummin cold though. Ds1 loved it though as there were some mounds so he was running up and down them.

I'm also starving today we had a pub meal on the way home around 5ish but I needed more dinner when I got home. Then raided ds1s chocolate buttons. He is so good and doesn't eat them all at once, he always saves them and just eats a couple at a time, so too much temptation for me.

Nolda · 19/01/2009 08:50

Trace I can't help on the piles I'm afraid but you have my sympathy. I mentioned mine to my GP before I got pregnant with DS. Like you, mine are just annoying rather than a major prob/pain. We agreed that she would have a look if that changed for the worse.

On the smelly wee, I think it may be worth taking her to the doctor. My DH (sorry darling for revealing yours ills to all) had this. No symptoms at all other than wee smelt of burning rubber! Turned out he had nasty UTI.

traceface · 19/01/2009 09:28

well my payback for my heavenly evening was a very hungry feeder last night - back to every 1.5 - 2 hours again - think we must be on a growth spurt! seems like dd1 is growing too - i just can't fill her up! i reckon they are both going to be tall like their daddy rather than a short arse like me!
i got very very wet taking lu to school this morning so am now feeling all warm and cosy back home with a cuppa and a snuggly baby!
veggie - i put all lucy's selection box chocs in a tin after christmas and seem to be steadily working my way through them myself! oops!
mibbles and kim - how are the boobs?

kayzr · 19/01/2009 09:36

Morning,

DS1 slept in his bed all night, I even had to go in and get him out of bed!!

DS1 just told DS2 he was naughty while I was BF him and tried to pull my top down. Think I might have to stop him doing that!!

traceface · 19/01/2009 09:39

wow Kayz! that's ace - hope you feel a bit more rested - well done Freddie! how are things with H? is he DH today?!
