Thanks so much for offers of help regarding London meet up.
Ah it sound like you had a lovely day today. I am very pleased for you all.

Can I have a quick rant about my hv.
Got Marcus weighed today and he only gained 1lb in 4 week,so she said she wasnt happy, as he was dropping down again, and suggested I make a start weaning.
She said my milk quality is obviously not as good as it was due to lack of sleep running around after toddler etc...
She suggested I carry on bf but start with solids asap.
(He is 20 weeks and weighs 14lb 9.)
He has started waking more during nights for feeds. Last night he ahd 10 bf between 8pm and 5am

dizzydixies · 13/01/2009 21:43

I look like a dizzy too and Poppy definately to me - I think I've called her a mixture of both

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 13/01/2009 21:45

i should have picked a better name. suppose no1 sounds quite odd in rl.

sorry for mistakes, typing one handed, too lazy to use caps lock

awww.
promise not to tell me off for my terrible punctuation.

dizzydixies · 13/01/2009 21:49

No1 can I make a few tentative suggestions that maybe he's feeding for comfort and because he's doing it so frequently he's not getting to the hind milk and only getting the thirst quenching foremilk? is he falling asleep during feeds - whats making him stop? might he be thirsty rather than hungry? could DH try to settle him rather than you so he can't 'smell' you and the mild you're associated with?

just some ideas and as I say to everyone else just ignore the bloody HV, he's YOUR son and YOU know if and when he needs fed and what a load of SHITE about your milk not being as good as it was

excuse rant

VG am currently trying to think of what issues I have at the moment other than the usual

health for myself and family
weight issues for me
are my kids getting the very best from me /
are my kids recieving equal attention and care
money
work/life balance

now they're all the boring ones that everyone has - would you like some of the more obscure nonsense that goes round my head at 400mph?

thanks dizzy you could be right there,as he does fall asleep a lot while feeding. however he comes off himself rather than fall asleep mid feed iykwim. He also clamps lips tight so no persuading for more.
I think he could well be ready though or its just growth spurt.
her comment did bug me though.
Thought my milk cant be that crap, he seems well/big enough to me.
tis quite an insulting comment i think.
oh your bm is shite.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 13/01/2009 21:57

sorry x post.
I feel fine about weaning early if he needs it.
I was planning on blw, but dont mind starting with a bit of puree etc... I did mix of both with dd.

dizzydixies · 13/01/2009 21:59

lol sazzles I did offer up the weird ones as well

No1 please don't take it to heart, its stupid comments like that which make people become disheartened. You have two young children and are managing extremelly well and with the proper support and encouragement you'll keep doing very well

VG I've started up the dream feed again, I had managed to cut it out and she was sleeping through but not so much anymore so am feeding very sleepy baby at about 11pm and getting through till maybe 5 or 6am again - maybe worth a shot?

vg a friend of mine who was convinced her ds was comfort feeding gave small amount of cool boiled water. She says he stopped waking up after 3 nights of it.
Not sure how you feel about that. Ihavnt tried it. dont think I could be arsed to go downstairs and get some tbh. Also would feel bit guilty that it was hunger. Cant win really.

poppysocks · 13/01/2009 22:02

Your Number One to me too, No1. Sorry to hear about more HV woes. Ignore her and do as you feel is best. Dizzy's theory may be right for me. I'm terrible at popping Emily on and then having to pull her off again before she's finished because of DD1 doing something dangerous/out of sight/attention seeking/irritating etc. We started solids at the weekend and although I'm a bit not to have made it to the six months, if I'm totally honest it's because I'm that my baby's growing up. Anyway, after a few night wake-ups since New Year, it's all been quiet at night again so maybe she is ready. [fingers crossed emoticon]

VG - Would love to know how you got that flight cost. Would book up there again if I could find it. Sadly no luck here and none from Edinburgh to City under £200. Boo.
