Hi folks

Had LOVELY time meeting peeps in Bristol, so nice to meet all the babies. Kurt was good as gold, as was GWR trains and DH coped with just 2 schoolruns (had arranged cover for 3rd, aren't I nice?) Still trying to work out if I can make the London one, depends on DH swapping days off.

No1, if you get in at St Pancras, tis easy. Just walk next door to Kings Cross tube station and jump on the Northern Line to Waterloo.

Oops what a nightmare! Never ever do a kind thing ever again, it's just not worth it. I nearly injured myself last night when I got glass and pyrex confused and ended up exploding a pint glass with boiling water.

Albs, you're only 29 so you can get away with no make up. I truly think that once you turn 30 you start to need mascara - your eyes need that little bit more definition. Well mine do.
My top make up buys (all under a tenner):
The Maybelline mascara in the pink and green packaging (nb brown not black.)
Rimmel eyeshadow trio in Orion (beige shades), has an applicator and suits everyone.

Ann, good luck with your chat.

Cyteen re hairloss: This is caused by trauma (eg childbirth, food poisoning, divorce) - the trauma makes the hair stop growing for a few months, then new hairs start to grow and push out all the old ones, ie what you're experiencing. You need to book yourself in with a good hairdresser, they will be totally familiar with the concept and can give you a suitable cut. Worst case scenario, your hair might get a kink all round where the regrowth started in which case you might want to opt for a dramatic chop!

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 13/01/2009 19:53

So glad you had a lovely day, I hope vg is feeling a little better too.

oops omg how are you feeling??

pertelote sorry for sounding pathetic but that just sounds quite scary and over my head tbh
Would obviously be capable of boarding a train this end but wouldnt know where to go/get off etc...

Just been to a meeting for christening so off to get dcs ready for bed.

Buckets · 13/01/2009 20:02

No1, if you've got a pushchair with you you'll need to go through the wheelchair gate at each station anyway so you can check with the staff member you're going in the right direction each time! St Pancras/Kings Cross (2 stations in 1) is massive and confusing but you just need to be brave and ask for help. A lot.
I found my ringsling v useful today so I could wear the baby and whilst getting on and off the train and stow my folded up Mclaren somewhere.

pertelote · 13/01/2009 20:07

No1 if it really is too scary then we're not going to bully you into it! But we will do what we can to help. You don't need to worry about where to get off the train, London is the end of the line! When it stops and doesn't start again, get off And if no-one else is coming via St P, I will meet you and patronise accompany you across town

rotterpotter · 13/01/2009 20:14

Wow I'm glad the Bristol meetup suffered no more mishaps, sounds like you all had a lovely time.

No1 I am due in to King's Cross at 10.59 so depending what time you got in I could meet you somewhere, I'm sure Pertolete could tell us a good place . Is it easier for you to get the train from Doncaster or Sheffield?

Buckets · 13/01/2009 20:35

Another place to look for possible cheaper travel options that might be convenient one way at least is Megabus. They have trains and coaches v cheap indeed (but do bear in mind London Victoria coach station is no short walk to the South Bank LOL.)

Awww thanks sazzles but I do always have a full face of make up on, you should see me first thing in the morning

It was lovely to see everyone but yes a bit stressful for what ended up being basically an hours visit! I wish I had had a bit longer as was just getting warmed up when I had to go again......

Cannot believe Miamla's sling was homemade and yes the haircut is gamine Miamla not boyish! Also agree that Buckets appeared to be far less tired than me with 3 dcs about the same age

Got home eventually but had to ask my friend who is always there in a crisis, or anytime, to pick up ds1 felt very bad. Any ideas what to get her as a present as she also looks after ds1 so I can take dd to ballet every Friday at 3pm. She is a total star.

A lovely and rather eccentric lady with purple hair gave me her bottle of water on the train after I missed the one I was supposed to catch (she was earwigging as I was speaking to my friend) - there are some nice people about. I was very thirsty as had run most of the way (see TS I do exercise sometimes!)

PetitFilou1 · 13/01/2009 20:56

Just for you vg - I thought Emma was very delicate, had a lovely outfit on and was firmly attached to sazzles chest most of the time

sazzles also very nice but I didn't get a chance to really talk to her which is shame!

ataraxis · 13/01/2009 21:02

Hello . Yes it was lovely to see everyone, it was a shame I couldn't be there for longer to have some proper time with everyone.

vg really really about your morning. Ryanbastardair . But your DP is fantastic .

sazzles summary is pretty spot on (except for the 3 brothers comment 3? 3? 3???)-

pf is beautiful, and sophisticated, and the voice of reason

sambo - I too would like to know what the 303 is about, didn't get a chance to ask, and not 37 at all.

lwfh - great to meet you, hope you have a fantastic rest of your stay - thanks for the additional toddler entertainment!

miamla looked fab (sorry our paths crossed so quickly) and agree that the haircut is definitely not manly.

buckets came bouncing in in a way that made me feel exhausted. Kurt is a such a sweetie, an amazing smiler and very very talkative .

what sazzles didn't mention is that Emma is gorgeous, and such a wonderfully amiable baby. sazzles herself is fantastic, and exactly as I expected... and we discovered that we had lived literally 100 yards away from each other in Hove for around 4 years .

I want to come to London now too. Sadly I don't think it is feasible . Everyone who wasn't there was missed - maybe one day we can sort out a way we can all get together - Fife anyone?

PetitFilou1 · 13/01/2009 21:05

oops I have done EXACTLY the same thing as you with a stick blender in the past. Had a neighbour take me to minor injuries and have a scar on my finger still I'm not the only complete muppet in the world then....

ataraxis · 13/01/2009 21:08

I am clearly a very slow typer tonight as somehow it took me around 15 mins to write that post

ann hope it goes well tonight

oops - OW! Hope you are ok.

pf, glad to hear you finally got home ok -lol @ purple hair, was it a rinse or bright purple?

oh, and ts, sazzles ate grilled meat and vegetables and drank only water. Very very healthy.

aha VG a challenge, that's what I like! [frin] Actually that one's too easy, DLR to Bank and then Waterloo & City line. Think there will be stairs at Bank and W'loo though.

Bristol sounds great!

pertelote · 13/01/2009 21:25

errr, , even.

poppysocks · 13/01/2009 21:27

So pleased to hear Bristol was a great success. Still though . Next stop London. I like the idea of Fife though!

Ouch oops! How are you feeling now? I was amazed how quickly my fingers healed after my burning experience in October. Finger tips are still like leather though

Dizzy - had a look at getting to the London meet-up... We could get a flight from Dundee 1010-1145 and back again at 1940-2115 (time for some shopping? ). Flying into City we'd just be a quick tube ride up to the South Bank. All too good to be true? Yup. Airfare is £348.35 . Each. . On that evidence, I'm and (again) that I'll be missing a meet-up.

VG am distraught on your behalf, not much consilation I know but none the less. what a lovely lovely DP you have - when I judt told DH what you'd done he's rather huffy as he'd offered to pay for me to come to Bristol and now feels he didn't get enough credit

oops glad DH hasn't done himself any lasting damage and about your finger. re your GP, it shouldn't be that sodding difficult to see the nurse for crying out loud

to all who attended at the meet can I say, even though I wasn't there, how delighted I am that you did it and it all went so well - just makes me think that this post really is as lovely as it seems

am DEFINATELY up for a Fife meet - you can all come and stay with me

ann am hoping it all goes well for you tonight - will be thinking of you

sazzles shall start having a look at that cunning plan

sibh have you emailed me your address yet? stupid question really - I should just go and look
