Thanks VG. Ah well - little man seems to have gone off with that feed, so I'm going to try for some sleep! (hope I haven't jinxed it now)

ataraxis · 07/01/2009 08:39

Morning, fresh coffee & croissants for all who wish them - fruit and yoghurt for those being healthy

I woke dd up at 7am for a feed (through from 10pm)!!! I would be feeling fantastic if DS2 hadn't woken at 4am .

Right, I am off to start the dreaded school run.... back later as it is just me and Lana today

sambo303 · 07/01/2009 10:18

morning, thanks for brekkie ataraxis

wonderful new thread, thanks oops Ann hope your night went OK - mine did not with dp screaming 'just bloody feed him' from downstairs( where he now sleeps) at 2am before my 15 mins of shushing time were up - very supportive

just back from hip screening for ds and his hips are normal, phew!

we are going to walk to waterbabies now, my first bit of exercise this year

cyteen · 07/01/2009 10:43

Morning all, porridge and pear for breakfast here today so an attempt at health even if the porridge was loaded with sugar.

sambo how infuriating Nothing like a united front, eh? I saw a friend on Monday who has a one year old boy and her ex-partner was so rubbish and unsupportive - never did any settling and whenever the baby cried, just said "he wants some milk". Also disrupted her attempts at sleep training just as she was starting to make progress because apparently "it's cruel". She is now a single parent and still bf/bedsharing as her DS won't settle any other way, thus she is constantly knackered

Glad your boy's hips are right though

Dunno wtf was going on last night - DS down at 8pm, awake at 10.30pm, again at 11.30pm when I brought him in with us as it was so freezing, then he woke again at around 3am and just refused to go back to sleep. DP ended up carting him off and returned him at some point in the am, fast asleep. So we're all wiped out this morning! DS currently zedding upstairs...I anticipate a summoning any time now

Miamla · 07/01/2009 11:09

where's dizzy this morning? i can't remember what she was up to? was she meeting up with someone or something?

DS fell asleep all by himself this morning!!! no rocking, feeding, pushing (in his pushchair) or anything! we were sitting on the floor playing, he lent forward, rested his head on my leg and promptly fell asleep!!!

ooh, just noticed the time, better run to the clinic to get my little porker weighed.

re weaning. we've started here. he's having some mashed potato at lunchtime. day 1, lots of choking and coughing. day 2, lots of coughing day 3, grabbing spoon to shovel it into his own mouth

re sleep (possibly connected to the potato [hopeful emoticon]) DS slept for a continuous 3.5 hours last night!!! most he's done in months in one go!

right, i really do have to run to the clinic

VG, nooo, i didn't know about the stretchy box thing...genius!

cyteen · 07/01/2009 12:41

so how many layers of clothes are everyone's LOs wearing in this cold snap? DS is in long sleeved vest, tights, trousers, fleecy jumper and will shortly be adding a coat and woolly hat when we venture outside. yesterday he was wearing trousers, jumper and socks over pyjamas my house is so farking cold.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/01/2009 12:43

hi.
dizzy and poppy hope you have a lovely day.
sambo glad hips are ok, but sorry about lack of support.
I had that here last night but with dd. she woke twice. 1st time had complete meltdown, me and dh ended yellinghaving heated debate on how to deal with it.
cyteen similar evening here. ds after unsettled eveing woke once at 4am then slept till 8.30am.

desperatly need to get dd back to sleeping through. dsis took her again today, says she can sleep.
So how is it that i feel miss her, but at same time want her to stop out. kids eh!!!!
ann hope you managed a good night.
sazzles have you got holiday accomodation sorted??

ts how is reese, has she been yet???

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/01/2009 12:44

cc hope your little man was as excited for scholl this am, and hope you don't have fuzzy head from wine drinking

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 07/01/2009 13:00

school

sambo303 · 07/01/2009 13:23

cyteen I have heating on at 24 degrees C and bugger the expense!

Feel completely invigorated from my jaunts out today - it doesnt feel cold although snow is still on the ground. Going to tackle some tidying + possibly some decorating

Does anyone have a giggling/laughing LO? DS has laughed once - on xmas eve at his cousin who's a very smily 6 month old. A waterbaby friend says her LO laughs at Peppa Pig - any suggestions how we can get another giggle, dp and me are killing ourselves trying to get a laugh!

Miamla · 07/01/2009 13:34

hi sambo, you've got mail!

DS laughs at anything and everything! tickling his tummy, shaking his hand and saying 'how do you do' etc!

Miamla · 07/01/2009 13:37

and tuesday the 27th is perfect for me for the london meetup. i'm happy to travel anywhere on the tube but i'll have to try and find my passport if we're going south of the river

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2009 13:49

sambo, reese has been giggling for a very long time now. i have she never giggles at the same thing twice. that drives dd1 bonkers.

no1 reese has pooed a tiny bit but nothing like her poos before switching to soy. started her back on milk based ff last night. hopefully that will do the trick. i expect a massive explosion sssooooooonnnn.

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2009 13:49

correction: i have found she

pertelote · 07/01/2009 14:01

Well exactly Miamla, a lovely exotic trip! Don't worry, you'll still be able to see familiar ground just across the river .

I reckon Giraffe is the most likely to be set up for this kind of thing - can't remember how warm/comfy it is but if not we can always move, eg comfy seats in foyer of royal festival hall.

Thanks all for good wishes, it means a lot. Esp your BIL Sazzles, shame about his personality but otherwise very encouraging!

okay please tell me if this is totally off the wall...

preface: school is closed due to flooding

the mother of one of dd1's classmates just phoned. we've never done anything with her and i've never gotten a phone call from her but we chat in the hallway and i think she's a pleasant lady.

anyway, she phones to see if her daughter can come over to play with my dd1 for a few hours because she (the mother) has tennis today and at tennis there's no one to look after her daughter.

i'm not too sure how i feel about this call.

i told her i too was trying to figure out how to handle today's school cancellation. that i was suppose to be helping a friend with an event. which wasn't a lie but i was going to work on it from home. watching kids during that time would be a counterproductive. i know i can manage it with dd1 and reese but a third child that i've never really been around...who is in a strange place for the first time.

seriously? an i'm looking at this the wrong way?
