buckets yes I eat an awful lot of bread tbh.
It is my downfall.
I had no idea bread could upset their tummies. Thanks for that.

oopsacoconut · 12/01/2009 09:40

Morning All
Thanks for the breakfast.

We have had 2 bad nights with DD with chronic wind - she doesn't really wake but cries out for 2or3 minutes - waking me up - and then farts the longest farts and goes back to sleep. I have been drinking loads more milk in the last few days (drinking hot milk to stop eating as much!) and these seem to coincide so stopping the milk and trying water.

DH has picked up what seems to be a tummy bug so we may well not be coming tomorrow as I would hate to be the one who infects you all with D&V.

Will now try and catch up on the weekend posts.

Oops I could do with a dose of D&V to shed this 9lbs or so of babyfat. Need to get it this week though while DH is off work!

No1, I have to work quite hard remembering to use other carbohydrate forms than bread, I can only handle 2slices a day without tummy ache the next morning. Luckily the kids eat potatoes, pastry and pasta - wish they'd eat rice.

Kurt slept through til 6.15 today for first time in 2wks. Unfortunately I was up til 12.30 watching Tom Hanks in Cast Away which was surprisingly great and I cried loads.

CaptainCaveman · 12/01/2009 11:01

morning, got about 30 secs before ds starts wailing for attention after his nap.

Hope everyone is ok? All good here except O keeps trying to rip my nipples off with his gums OUCH.

cyteen I can't get O to take a bottle either. Will have to persevere and maybe time to stop bf for me . BTW do you live anywhere near the space centre? We went there yesterday and I was thinking I should have posted on here in case you fancied meeting!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 11:02

VG i distinctly remember you telling us about the chat you had with DP about taking DS out of the country. I'll be a witness if you require one!
re teething stuff... calgel has been working well for us

TS scary scary stuff with DD1 and the kitchen. i almost burnt the house down when i was a young 'un too. that's another story though! i was more upset about my doll's blanket being burnt that the potential risks so hoping DD1 has 'heard' what you've told her about the kitchen.

interesting re link between bread and windy babies.. DS seems a bit less windy now and i've been eating less bread recently. It would seem it wasn't a coincidence!

sambo worry not, I have a plan for tomorrow! original plan was to get the ferry from the station to cabot but it seems that this was a special trip for Christmas only. So we've got a plan B! (and a plan C and a plan D so you can choose!)

oops it'll be such a shame if you can't make it. keeping fingers crossed

no1 ooh, so is your back good enough to go to Bristol? excellent news!

oh and for ease of recognising me tomorrow...i'm the person you look at and wonder if i'm a boy or a girl! Hairdresser was a bit more ruthless than i was hoping for. please be complimentary and not assume i'm DS's dad!

CaptainCaveman · 12/01/2009 11:03

Oh and the laughing - he has just started this in the last few days. Got a great video of both ds' in the bath together and ds1 making ds2 howl with laughter. Actually, O seems to laugh at whatever ds1 does!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 11:16

buckets i watched cast away just after DS was born.. i cried as well! DP thought it was hilarious (me crying, not the film!)

hmm, talking of DP. i've got a strange memory of him coming into my room in the early hours this morning. Moving DS from my bed to his cot, DS woke up so DP put him back into bed with me I'll have to ask him about it later, perhaps i dreamt it!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 11:18

CC how did your hockey go on sat?

cyteen · 12/01/2009 11:23

CC I live about 5 minutes away from the Space Centre Probably just as well you didn't though as I was not good company yesterday. Hope you all had fun anyway

sambo I'm in no rush to wean and DS is certainly not ready yet, but I am looking forward to having a highchair so that he can sit with us at mealtimes and watch what goes on. Also it might be a good way for him to hang out with me in the kitchen; at the moment there's nothing so I spend all my time either rushing between rooms or cooking one-handed, neither of which is very safe.

oopsacoconut · 12/01/2009 11:35

shhh everyone - DD is having her nap in her cot, but don't tell her!

DH definitely has something - so is currently sleeping in the spare room with a bucket [yuck] I am hoping it is the ham he ate whilst watching castaway last night - I found an empty packet in the sitting room this morning - expired 22nd Dec 2008 - surely it tasted bad!

Am doing a mad tidy around before the, now very late, fencing men arrive and demand tea, then pop to the shops and be back in time for the grocery delivery at 2.

Am pleased book arrived okay VG if it is useless then just dispose of and tell me how fab it was

Am still waiting for real giggles DD gets the first bit of a giggle out then it seems to get stuck and she glares at me like I'm a loon.

When people were asking last week what to make baby porridge with if you didn want to cook with BM I forgot to suggest ricemilk - it is fab and like BM slightly sweet but is just basically rice and water squished and squashed together. you can get one with added calcium or just plain.

oopsacoconut · 12/01/2009 11:36

also - any ideas where to get readymade ready blackout lined curtains for DD's room? I thought we might be getting ready to move her out but lastnight put a block on any such thoughts.

miamla we lost 4-0 but it was good to run around after a month of relative inactivity

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr my boiler has just stopped working! eeek its sodding freezing. Have changed the fuse to no avail. Sodding fire won't light either (not been used in over 2 yrs!). Hoping we can get someone out quickly!!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 12:31

lol, DS has just pressed something on the tv remote and i can only get a black screen now!

CC, how've you managed to only have a month of relative inactivity?!

news flash!!! DS's first tooth is appearing!!! no wonder he's been so miserable the last couple of days

CaptainCaveman · 12/01/2009 12:41

relative inactivity = no hockey . Other than that have been running around after the family .

British gas visiting this pm to fix our boiler [fingers crossed emoticon]

Miamla · 12/01/2009 12:48

i'm so in love with my little boy! it seems that sitting sideways on my lap, with his head resting on my nork, is exactly the medicine he needed to help his sore gums. he's completely still and relaxed, i'll be surprised if he doesn't fall asleep!

CC i see! v about you playing hockey. i used to play obsessively (was a member of two different teams) but haven't played for years and i suspect my back will stop me ever playing again. guess i'll just have to get the dust off my skates instead!
pleased you've got such a fast response from B Gas. hope it warms up soon!

cyteen · 12/01/2009 12:55

i wish joe was so easily soothed miamla...it's calpol, dentinox and earplugs (for me) round here

still pissing down as well but if things carry on in this vein i shall have to go out or we'll both go insane.

PetitFilou1 · 12/01/2009 13:09

Hello all
Been away for the weekend in sunny Bournemouth. Where are we meeting tomorrow?

I have realised I'm very unlikely to catch the 9.12 train (have to find parking and get the buggy up steps) so will probably be on the next one so will only be in Bristol for a couple of hours. Clearly I'm a bit mad for trying to go.... still.

Back later to see if anyone tells me what is going on!

Miamla · 12/01/2009 13:22

petit, we're meeting at Coal in Cabot circus

cyteen, according to my mum (mother of four so she knows stuff!), the worse bit of teething is before the tooth appears.apparently less painful once it has broken through

DS has fallen asleep on my lap so looks like i'm stuck here for a while!

ataraxis · 12/01/2009 13:49

For those going tomorrow - getting to cabot circus (from train station) and map of area here

will try to catch up more later - realised taxi may not be best option due to car seat issues. Hope this helps!

PetitFilou1 · 12/01/2009 14:06

oops John Lewis for ready made blackout linings (attach to normal curtains) but only come in standard lengths (and they do ready made blackout blinds)

Aspace also do them (online) and possibly even cheaper (though expensive for everything else - lovely bedding, beds, curtains etc for children)

Mothercare probably do them but I've always got mine in JL

Think I will be walking to Cabot Circus - that'll be my exercise for the day then!

PetitFilou1 · 12/01/2009 14:08

Ps thank you miamla

Miamla · 12/01/2009 14:16

woo hoo! my new baby carrier is going to be ready to use tomorrow

alittlebitshy · 12/01/2009 15:31

Just got ds weighed - 20lb10 - that's 1lb9oz in 3 weeks. Admittedly he hasn't pooed since the giant blockage clearout on sat night but how much can a poo weigh ? Gone up the centiles suddenly - he had been gently creeping up them but is now between 91st and 98th. It's all ok isn't it?

Bloody hv though - asked if had started weaning. Tone of voice was like I should have done it ages ago. Almost made me wish we hadn't just to hear her reaction. She then told me not to give him too much sweet stuff cos of his weight wtf? what does she think i'm going to give him - choccie fondue and haribo every lunchtime?!

dizzydixies · 12/01/2009 16:03

is that not alright?!?!?!? we had that for breakfast here and we're just after having a lunch of fizzy cola cubes and deep fried mars bars, once Dylan got a good hold of them she was right in there

please don't take it to heart, DD1 was always right up there too and she is a lovely tall well proportioned girl (completely solid but not an once of fat on her) bloody HVs [fume]
