no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/01/2009 20:02

lol ts I too think dd had much more clothes than ds.

Miamla · 11/01/2009 20:03

pertelote, did you manage to talk to her dr about weaning and possible weight loss issues?

well done TS, round of appause for you!

oopsacoconut · 11/01/2009 20:35

No1 - traffic on the m4/m5/m32 gets a bit mad from about 8-10am how long is your journey? I think you said 3 hours - that would get you here for stupidly early o'clock. I would think that by leaving at 7ish you would gt here by 10.30 at the latest.

OP posts:
no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/01/2009 20:49

Hi oops Yes about 3 hours. I think they were telling me that I could be stuck/sat in traffic therefore journey would be a lot longer.
Thanks for that though. Has it been decided which spot/cafe we are meeting then??

Would I be able to exchange a mobile number with someone?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 11/01/2009 20:55

Also one more question. The nearest thing my sat nav will find is Temple Meads train station, so if I use this, will it be easy to find Cabot Circus??

is tomorrow the meetup? i've lost track. my days are really starting to run together.

the pile of clothes on the spare bed is now neatly stored in boxes to be mailed or tucked into the armoir for later use by reese.

word of warning for all with dcs of the mobile age. dd1 decided to play scavenger hunt by herself. she took her map and hid it ON TOP OF THE TOASTER then "accidently" turned the toaster ON. i was just putting reese down for a nap at the time and in a swift panic came running through the house going "something's burning...something's burning.." the toaster turned itself off as i got to it. the "map" was a bit brown. thankfully she'd not thought to place the map IN the toaster. normally the toaster is unplugged after use BUT for some off ball reason today it did not get unplugged. SO just a word of wisdom, now might be a good time to explain KITCHENS ARE NOT TO BE PLAYED IN. dodged a big one............

Miamla · 11/01/2009 21:56

TS no, meetup's on tuesday (and today's still sunday for a few more hours)

glad you had a lovely time Sazzles TS hope DD1 ok and didn't give herself too much of a fright

Sibh you need to be sending me your address lady so I can pass on this book

VG am still no further with booking somewhere with summer as you've spoiled me with that milking parlour suggestion

sodding pouring down here and DD2 slept this afternoon so still kicking about upstairs, will not be fun doing the school run on my own in the morning

Buckets · 11/01/2009 22:42

Evening, just goggling at ALBS' huge christening but I guess vicars are pretty popular and have to be politic with it.

My DH has now been signed off another week as a result of his vasectomy! Wounds are fine but he's very bruised, still not confident about driving yet.

Anyone fancy a little 500 word fiction challenge? Friend of my mum's has started a flashfiction blog Greyling Bay where you add your little snapshot of life in the town. Waiting for my mum to vet my 2nd draft before submitting (bloglady's very picky apparently.)

Will have a look at traintimes to see if I could make the London meetup between schoolruns. It's a possibility anyway.

sambo303 · 11/01/2009 23:17

Hi all, hope everyone had a fab weekend, we're just back from North London visiting friends (via passport control ) so just skimmed through but would like to squeeze onto that rather full wtf's going on at night? sofa. Freaked out last night and put 'soother' (dummy) in ds's mouth (given by SIL for my sanity). Felt terrible about it today and resolved to not go that route. I have decided the problem is not ds waking a lot, it's my attitude to his waking. He's a tiny baby and so what if he's hungry a few times a night - read up KellyMom which explains that interest in the world around means feeding can decrease in the day thus more feeding at night when ds has my undivided attention + its dark etc. So I'm just going to feed him and not try any techniques for the time being.

I think miamla already asked this and sorry if someone replied but how do we get from Temple Meads station to Cabot Circus and where exactly in Cabot Circus are we meeting?

sazzles we have a serious pudding here too - I asked hv if he should be laughing by now (I know, dumb question) and she said he'll laugh in his own time and surprise you

TwilightSurfer · 12/01/2009 00:33

she was suppose to be scared? even after my total freak out she still have not concept of what "could" have happened. which IS what i expect of a 5 year old. she can however tell you that she's not allowed to play in the kitchen anymore.

ataraxis · 12/01/2009 05:59

morning... another fun night in the ataraxis household...
12.45 DS2 fell out of bed
2.00 DD hungry
4.30 DS2 awake and up (then put back to bed)
5.30 DD hungry
so I figured I would get breakfast prepped for you all, put on a slow bake ready for 8ish and then take a leaf out of ts's book and do some early morning exercise

sazzles - sounds fab. ahh, a child free night

ts thank goodness everything turned out ok.

dizzy [sympathy emoticon] tis the middle child thing - ds2 was born to be one... I remember a year or so ago (when we weren't planning any more) saying 'that kid is born to be a middle child, thank goodness he isn't one'

albs - WOW!

Sorry for the unhelpful link the other day, I spoke to the Manageress at Coal restaurant in Cabot Circus, she said there was no need to book and they would be happy to have us (buggies and all) - so shall we use that as a main meeting point? I don't think they will be particularly busy (at around 10/11ish at least) so we could bed in, and then people can do shopping or whatever popping out when we want to? I don't know exactly where it is but there are maps of shops/restaurants when you get there.

There is a huge parent and child parking area on the main shopping level (I think 5? don't rely on 5 being right) for anyone who is driving. Taxi is probably best from Temple Meads, I can pick up one person (plus one baby ) if anyone will be arriving by train at around 10.15/10.30. Feel free to email me at [email protected] if you are interested. EXCITING

On a totally different note, bealcain crossed my mind the other day, has anyone heard from her recently and if so is she ok?

ataraxis · 12/01/2009 07:23

okaay -

So far I have:-

  1. said good morning to you guys
  2. done 45 mins exercise
  3. sorted packed lunches
  4. emptied the car of the ikea stuff we bought yesterday
  5. made tea, coffee and breakfast for you guys

reckon I will be knackered by 10am

Morning all.
sazzles your weekend sounds wonderful and well deserved. Glad your dds slept for you.
My dd is still night waking and taking longer to settle each time.(no tears, just tiring sitting at the side of her, knowing ds could wake anytime.)

sambo you do right, I have stopped leaving ds to whinge, didnt feel right even though it di work.Last night I slept on the sofa with him snuggled in my night gown. It was lovely even though in bed would have been better.

I read on kelly mom that baby shouldnt really be bothered by what I eat, but Marcus has had very very bad wind last few nights.Seems to be causing bit of pain.
Any ideas??

ts how scary, sounds like a close call that one. Hope she knows kitchen is off limits now.

ataraxis thats an awful lot crammed into a morning and before chool run well done on early morning excersize too.I am up for meeting wherever.

buckets hope your dh is feeling better. I remember when my dad had it 'reversed' was in soooo much pain.

dizzy hope you managed some sleep and your dd eventually settled.

cyteen · 12/01/2009 08:53

ataraxis I'm most impressed by the fact that you went to Ikea and came back with your sanity. Seriously stressy day chez cyteen yesterday thanks in large part due to Ikea and their farking pictogram instructions. Still, DS now has a cot set up and ready to go although thanks to herds of wandering morons DP forgot to get him a highchair, so we shall brave the rain today and have a look at the ones in town. DS had a good old stare at my toast again this morning so think we'd better make ready!

There is serious teething going on here as well, I've had to break out the Dentinox. Can't get a look in his mouth but I can feel hard ridges on the top and bottom gums. And he is grumpy, very very grumpy (in between being adorable).

The bunny clock might be worth getting. We got her a bunny lumilove night light, but we though it was disturbing her, so now she has it on while drinking her milk. Then she happily gives it to me and says 'bye bye Alma' (all rabbits are alma)
and I switch it off.
If ever she has woken in the past, she has had a beaker of milk and gone straight back to sleep. Now she wants stroking or just to know you are there. Seems to be taking longer and longer to settle. We also dont talk to her, she makes no attempt to talk to us either.

However last night she woke up saying 'spider' 'spider' wondering if she had been dreaming.

Buckets · 12/01/2009 09:14

No1, have you been living off sandwiches/toast at all? I found too much bread affected both me and Kurt when BF.

Off to the station in a mo to collect tickets and work out where to park. I will probably be wearing a furry leopard print hat (it's the only one I have) so should be easy to identify, although there's a new pic of me and Kurt in my profile.

I am stuck between sizes for baby stuff at the mo. He is really very tightly squeezed into 3-6m and needs new sleepsuits, grobags and nappy wraps (large!) urgently. However, the next NCT sale isn't til March and I know I will be sick when I see all the stuff there that I need now!

sambo303 · 12/01/2009 09:21

Love that alarm Sazzles - I've made a note of it for later

no1ds has also had lots of wind and was up crying 2-3am with it this morning. If its not what we eat it must be his digestive system, right?

cyteen i asked hv last week about ds staring at our food, and does this mean he wants some. She said not necessarily, he's interested but not 'hungry' for it. She said a better sign was not being satisfied after feeds. I'm gong to try blw anyway, so he can decide whether he wants it or not.

ataraxis thanks for brekker, very impressed with your full day's activities squeezed into 1.5 hours

DS and me off out for the day, meeting mum for present shopping for my birthday just gone and hopefully getting a new snowsuit for ds cos he's too big for his 3-6 month one due to his HUGE nappy
