Oh and on the 'you ruined my life' thing - I don't get that from ds1 but I do get 'you are making my life so difficult' and sighs and rolls his eyes and also 'mummy you are driving me MAD' (wonder where he heard that one)

dizzydixies · 08/01/2009 20:53

adds MMR to list of non-topics

PetitFilou1 · 08/01/2009 21:00

we saw Cirque du Soleil in Vegas in the Bellagio and it was WONDERFUL!! (please notice how windswept and interesting that sounds without pointing out how needy I'm being)

VG I love that site for cottages but it does say that young children aren't welcome in some of them which makes me wonder if they're going to be of use to us

any recommendations on where abouts best?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 08/01/2009 21:08

awww it got me too when she said that.

oopsacoconut · 08/01/2009 21:08

sazzles think bristol may be out for me, I only drove 5 mins away today and it wasnt brilliant. Doubt could do 3 hours(then home again) unless I have a miraculous recovery

I know I was really looking forward to it. I am still looking for a reasonably priced train ticket though.

poppysocks · 08/01/2009 21:29

Happy Birthday Sazzles! V. of Cirque du Soleil. Was thinking (again) how much I'd love to see it when I was reading a v. good review of the latest one in the paper earlier.

Re: weaning, my HV, who seems to be hardline about te 6 month thing with everyone actually suggested starting to wean Emily. Her weight gain still isn't great and we all suspect that she's not getting enough from me so she reckons that rather than introducing formula top ups, we may as well start weaning. Funnily enough, I am now not worried about her weight (finally, I hear you saying exasperatedly!) as her length was also checked and it seems that she's way ahead on that front. So... will either start this weekend or next. I'd quite like to wait as it's one less thing to think about, while DH would like to start so that he can get involved with feeding - over Christmas he confessed he's found my bf hard, feeling very cut-off from such a fundamental (and time-consuming) part of her early life. (DD1 being ff, he shared the feeding).

pf - you answered the question I was going to ask re: how to make up baby rice when bf. Think I'll make up the formula for it as you suggest.

Utterly shattered today (although I know I have no excuse due to having a sleeping baby!). Stopped off for a drink in town to feed DD2 and actually feel asleep twice in a busy coffee shop!

cyteen · 08/01/2009 21:31

All this weaning talk is very interesting - I didn't realise that weight might affect when to wean. Babycentre says "Most babies are ready to eat semi-solids when they've doubled their birth weight, which may take place before or around their sixth month" - Joe managed that before Christmas I still don't think he's quite ready YET, but give it time.

VG am hoping the solids have a beneficial effect on everyone's sleep!

CC I also had to restrain myself from rushing upstairs and nuzzling my little piglet after reading your lovely post He was a bloody nightmare to get to bed tonight though so don't want to disturb him

lol, sazzles, DD1 is the opposite and loves to be at other people's houses for sleep overs. well my aunts or my friends, the other places she loves sleeping over which is good as I was always a nervous visitor
