Bit bored so thought I would start the new thread

amber what a shame - I had a gorgeous baby coat I sold on ebay yesterday cos it was too big for A and he'd never get to wear it. Wish I'd known and you could have had it

re. the going back to work thing, it's like a big black cloud over my head. I cannot bear the thought of it at all

bitofadramaqueen · 08/01/2009 21:10

Ali mothercare had some in sale, sold out online but they had plenty left in my local one the other day and I'm sure it went up to 12 months. I got S one. It was £15. The feet are detachable too. Can't find it online anymore - but its red.

I'll pray for you poppy at mass (BDQ pretends to be more godly than she actually is).

Sponge sending you virtual support for your diet. FWIW, I doubt you are a pig at all. I dont know too much about the lighterlife diet (I only heard of it when you mentioned it I think) but when I googled it, I didn't get the impression that you get a whole lot of stuff to eat! I'm sure the more that you're denied something the more you want it. I'm on week one of a snack-free weekdays and its killing me!

Interesting on the sleep front sponge - S went to bed at 7.30 last night because he was wide awake at his usual 6.30pm - 7pm and he slept quite well. Couple of wakings but nothing major.

Amber on the same subject - I have actually been trying to stretch S's bedtime till a bit later in anticipation of going back to work in March. What time does Luke go down at night just now? If I were you, I'd think about going back and see how it goes. I know you feel bad about the other person, but your responsibility is firstly to you and your own family, so if it doesn't work out you can always leave (and you shouldn't feel guilty - businesses always put business needs first, so employees are allowed to too ). Also, its always, always easier to find a job when you're in one, so you could go back and start looking around to see what comes up.

gomad also interested in your ghost - I've been skimming the last day or so, and spotted that your DD having some problems but didn't realise they were ghostly until today.

Essie off in search of your weaning thread.

Is aberdeen missing from the thread - is she busy with house moving stuff still?

spongebrainbigpants · 08/01/2009 21:17

BDQ, thank you for virtual support - I'm now thinking about what to do and waiting for cons to reply.

Amber, I would 2nd what others have said - go back and see what happens. If you hate it look elsewhere, but you never know. Have you thought about seeing a life coach? A friend of mine did it and completely changed her career on the back of it - she's so much happier. She doesn't have kids so different situation in that respect but might help you look at your options more objectively.

Oh, and on the UFO story, I personally think it's a load of crap but then I'm a total sceptic on all that kind of stuff!

UFO

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 21:19

Hi Sponge I can't afford lighter life but am using this www.foodfocus.co.uk so monitor what I eat if that is any good to you.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 21:20

BDQ a friend of mine went to hypnothetapy to help her stop snacking and she looks fabulous.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 21:22

Amber think seriously about going back as I amd sure but willing to be corrected that if you don't you have to pay back your maternity pay, so maybe go back for a few weeks, look for something, TA work is good as it is part time.

bitofadramaqueen · 08/01/2009 21:30

You dont have to pay back Statutory Maternity Pay, but if you received any enhanced pay on top of that you might have to pay that back if you dont go back/leave within a certain time. Should say in employment contract.

Off to look at your food focus website 5gomad. Will keep hypnotherapy in mind.

On coaching, we use this a lot for our employees at work and I have to say people have had amazing results (both in work and personal matters).

DebInAustria · 08/01/2009 21:32

Just a quickie(as usual)

Lovely photos Josey - what a great view from your window

Ali - I got Ethan a snowsuit 2 weeks ago and he's almost outgrown it already. It also has detachable feet - ridiculous.

Made the most of mil being here, today she looked after Ethan this morning whilst Nigel and I skiied for 2 hours but waaay too cold -15, then this afternoon she had him again whilst we took the boys skating then tonight we've had our 1st night out without children since Ethan was born. She goes home on Saturday, I'll notice the difference next week when I have to do my own ironing too!

The most lovely thing today was coming home from skiing and Ethan was so excited to see me, it melted me!!

poppy34 · 08/01/2009 21:33

apologies 5gomad -he isn't as bad as valentine warner ..grr

and echo what saint bdq said... have been moving edie's bedtime from just before 7 to 7.30 as means dh gets to see her and hopefully gives me an hour plus with her at end of day as well as beginning on those days I work.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 21:33

No apologies needed, (I also liked Valentine

pleasechange · 08/01/2009 22:00

Thanks sponge - he is fine today, but is currently refusing to go to sleep! This boy doesn't like night time!

neenztwinz · 08/01/2009 22:03

Bedtime is 7pm here. I don't care that DH sometimes doesn't see the DTs (tho mostly he is home at 6.30/6.45 so does see them for a few minutes usually). He can spend all day with them at weekends (except when he goes to watch football or plays for his Sunday team )

Amber, I think your should go back and if you hate it then hand in your notice. Nothing is set in stone. I think you probably will hate it and I am sure Luke will be happier too if you didn't have to work so much! What is it about being at home all the time that you hate? I have to say I think without the internet I would probably go a bit crazy being at home all day with the DTs, but with their naps and Sky PLus and MN, FB, nipping out for coffee/to see my friends/mum/PILs, there are not enough hours in the day to get bored!

Essie3 · 08/01/2009 22:12

I'm convinced Valentine is drunk actually. Although he is so incredibly posh I can't quite tell.
When's your birthday 5GoMad? Is it soon? We got married on the same day so maybe there's some sort of strange connection!

Amber I also think you should go back. I was once having a big crisis about taking a job, and a friend pointed out that contracts are not until death. You can leave at any time!

Just read a thread about a troll (Babyjjbaby) - really weird. She's a regular on the cloth nappy thread, and doesn't even have a baby!!

AliandHerScallywag · 08/01/2009 22:19

Amber I didn't actually mean that Hipp is really chav food. I was just picking up on Poppy's joke about jars from earlier on. Gosh - didn't want to piss anyone off.

5 I like Hugh F-W and Valentine. When I think of you and Libra I imagine some kind of River Cottage-esque idyll. Then I read about your stacks of ironing and unreasonable guests and think again... Although now that I know that your dd lives in a converted cowshed, it is sounding more Hugh than ever.

Neenz generally I am with you on the ways that days can be pleasantly filled when on ML. Today however I have been feeling . It is just because yesterday was the first proper day of the New Year for me here (DH back at work, parents left England and now at their house in France), so I am feeling a bit alone. To cap it off, Peter refused to have a nap after 10am this morning resulting in him having a complete meltdown at 5pm. It really upset me because I had done everything I could to get him to sleep, but he just wasn't playing by my rules today. [sigh]

Thanks for the ideas for a pram suit. TK Maxx is pretty good. We got one for our skiing holiday from there. It does have detachable feet though and it is currently too big for Peter (believe it or not).

spongebrainbigpants · 08/01/2009 22:19

5, thanks for the link, looks interesting.

Essie, I read about babyjjbaby - she sounds like a very sad case. She has a teddy bear that she pretends to be her son and even buys nappies and pushchairs for him. All very weird and very strange - has upset a fair few MNers, esp the one who sent her 'DS' toys for Christmas .

poppy, that was the other advantage of moving bedtime - dh gets to spend more time with A and help with bedtime!

pleasechange · 08/01/2009 22:27

I was reading that babyjjbaby thread as well - very strange.

Was also reading a thread about some poor woman whose DS had taken off his own nappy and managed to cover everything in poo and had swallowed some!

spongebrainbigpants · 08/01/2009 22:42

Yeeeuuuccchhhh!!!!

Glad I missed that thread!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 22:45

Birhday is 19th Feb, I am going to do the smoking and curing one as in a mad state on Boxing day set up a new business with friend and her daughter, so we are investigating.

Dad wants some crayfish traps a la Vlentine for his birthday as they move next to a river next month.

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2009 22:46

And what is weird about that thread is that no one on the prams thread thinks it is odd that she lied.

hedgehog1979 · 08/01/2009 22:47

evening all, Quick one here before bed

Essie I will admit that Isaac had a very small amount of sticky toffee pudding and ice cream as well as some trifle - Speaking to my HV she said all things in moderation.

amber Having signed contracts with the CM yesterday I am at major meltdown about going back FT, I don't want my baby to do things first for someone else, although I am going to have an agreement with her that she doesn't tell us if he rolls/crawls unless we have told her he has already done it.

Bedtimes Isaac normally does bath and bed between 8 and 9, I think it is really important for DH to be involved and have a relationship with ISaac as he has such a bad one with his dad so that is his time, and then I do the feed. DH regularly gets in from work at 6.45 - 7 so it wouldn't work for us to have him going down earlier although this might have to change once I am back at work.

ali Loving the new name - we got Isaac a pramsuit from M&Co but didn't notice what size they went up too.

deb Isn't it lovely when you get that smile when you come home like that.

Have had a look at some of the troll threads and have come to the conclusion that people have too much time on their hands - both to Troll and to spot them. I would have no idea, but then I also have been known to ask a quite famous person how I know them

5 very jealous of you going on your river cottage course, I love HFW cook books and DH has spent this evening trying to make fudge from one of his books (house now smells of burning sugar).

OK so not really very quick, but I really am going to bed now

OP posts:
hedgehog1979 · 08/01/2009 22:47

whoops x posted with loads of people then, right I really am going to bed now

OP posts:
Essie3 · 08/01/2009 22:51

5GoMad No, not that spooky then. My birthday is next week! I was also going to say 'good luck with giving up smoking' but I see you're actually taking it up.
Please ensure you smoke cheese - I love smoked cheese sooooooo much! There's a smokehouse on Anglesey, they do all sorts of weird things. Including salt.

allnew lol at that thread. I'd actually be crying, huge howls, if it happened to me, obviously. But at the moment it's hilarious... I wonder how she knew that he had swallowed some?

Essie3 · 08/01/2009 22:53

Also x-posted loads there!

neenztwinz · 08/01/2009 22:56

HH, tell us which famous person it was!

Yes the Babyjj stuff is very sad, I have been reading about it for about an hour - I should have just waited around here for Sponge to post the details! Yeah no one on the pram thread thinks her odd but many of them have met her or sold her a pushchair and I suppose they have all built up a bond. If I were to admit Theo and Esther are only dolls you'd still think I was OK wouldn't you?

Ali, sorry you had a crap day - does taking him out in the pram not get him off to sleep in emergencies like that?

Essie3 · 08/01/2009 22:56

5GoMad I was taken in with the troll on the nappies thread. Really bizarre - she chatted about dirty nappies, getting out stains etc like the rest of us (God, we sound like a sad bunch...which we are ) and was buying and selling nappies, saying things like 'I really want to get X brand of nappies to try'. So odd. Very ill, obviously, but not malicious?
