Am I first? Couldn't think of what to call it....

VS - I think she is hungrier, yes, I tried giving more milk, which helped, but then yesterday she spurned more milk for more food (I guess she can't take both) and she did sleep better last night. Woke once at 5.30 for drink water and then 6.30 properly. She is never hungry for her breakfast til about 8 though - does anyone else have this? Should I stop giving a ten o clock feed?

Oma, brilliant news!!! (You must be just about the only person overjoyed with it currently, people will think you're in denial )

I can't really imagine how difficult it must be to have to deal with loads of appointments etc too on top of the usual work/kids/house thing. You're all amazing and I feel so guilty that I often moan about stupid things and this is when dealing with a (mostly) easy 1-child baby! I used to be a proper career woman, it's only lately that I turned into such a whimp, honestly!

Bath just filled so I'm off to have our nightly bath (more like swim for R). And then search for food thanks to you lot going on about bacon sandwiches!!!

ThePFJ · 27/01/2009 21:15

Took a pregnancy test today - the result: No more mini PFJ's yet.

Today Jack drank his first bottle of baby fruit juice throughout the day. Weaning is going really well. I give him a FF at night and in the am now and the rest is solids.. if you can call apple slices and baby mush 'solids'. Tried him on a carrot baton as well yesterday. He looked at me as if 'mummy's brain has fallen out of her ears' because it did not really taste of anything. He still only has 2 little teeth at the front but the rest are jostling for position and making the poor mite cry now.

I have a very bad back atm. Am also feeling very 'fragile' very weepy

OMaLittle · 27/01/2009 22:03

Oh, sweetie! Look after yourself. You never know about the pg, I had twenty a couple of negative tests both times and ended up being pregnant. (Quite an expensive habit, though, unless you nick some when the GP's not looking.)

RobertPattinsonComeToMomma · 27/01/2009 23:15

And even if you're not pg, it's still fun, trying, right?
Went to see ds1's secondary school last night, it was an open evening. Looked fab and so much better than "in my day" ( God, I feel old saying that!) but I am so worried he'll just end up wandering around, lost! On the other hand it could be the best thing ever for him but I really don't know!

PeachyBAHonsPRSCertOnRequest · 27/01/2009 23:20

pg tests on ebay work a treat (clearblue said no, ebay said yes, result is on lap snoring now!)

RobertPattinsonComeToMomma · 27/01/2009 23:28

Awwwww, at snoring on lap!

SalLikesCoffee · 27/01/2009 23:30

peachy!

Oh I don't know, I really don't know if I'll be able to deal with another baby right now... How??? Do you lot just not sleep for years? R still wakes up MULTIPLE times per night, never mind how hard I try re routine and water and any possible thing! Paed was not really reassuring either when he said "oh, don't worry, some perfectly healthy children don't sleep through for years"!!! (Went to see him for something else obviously, but thought I'd take my chance and ask for tips.)

SalLikesCoffee · 27/01/2009 23:32

If it wasn't so completely impossible, I'd swear I'm pregnant right now - my skin's a mess, I feel like a teenager. Hmm, thought the pregnancy hormones would have settled down by now. It's slightly embarrassing.

ThePFJ · 28/01/2009 09:43

Sal - thats how I feel.. really run down, I snap at everything, I can't sleep at ALL.. so uncomfortable all the time, and I flush hot and cold alot. Maybe I have a virus or something simple like that though?

OMaLittle · 28/01/2009 10:59

Yikes. Do we need to change this to the Due Sept 09 thread??? Seriously, though, hope you all feel better soon.

Sal, I would maybe consider it if it weren't for the sleep thing. I just don't seem to be able to cope with it. DH and I are great now, but I think massive sleep deprivation is just a killer for our relationship!

YIPPEE DD2 took the boob this am. Think I am happier about that than the redundancy! So weird as I thought I was ready to give up. I wonder if it was because she could sense I was stressed about the biting? This am went up to her at 5.40 ([yawn] - ooh, must suggest that one to mnhq too), changed her bot, played for a bit then just lay her down and kind of put my boob next to her. She was fine and took it immediately. Thank god as I gave away my pump [dunce] and was in SERIOUS discomfort!

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2009 11:13

Great stuff OMa.
Sal, I am CONSTANTLY tired, even though they all sleep from 7-7 now, It's DP that keeps me up! We go up to bed and no matter how many times I say I'm going to sleep he keeps chattering on, I'm looking forward to his next night shift!

scorpio1 · 28/01/2009 11:38

I sleep Seriously though, i wold always sort sleeping of other child before bringing a new baby in the house!

PFJ are you ttc? [forgot] (think you are?)

OMa - i knew you would have more

scorpio1 · 28/01/2009 11:38

DH wakes me up too - snoring, coughing, trying to have sex with me whilst he's asleep.....fabulous

OMaLittle · 28/01/2009 11:51

DH was grinding his teeth last night. Hope it wasn't the pressure of becoming sole earner! real sign of the times that I get better sleep if I go and sleep in DD2's room instead! [stern don't-count-your-chickens-OMa-emoticon]

OMaLittle · 28/01/2009 11:52

ps VS maybe you need to get yourself on ebay as well...

scorpio1 · 28/01/2009 11:54

do you think you will get another job or be a SAHM now?

Soph73 · 28/01/2009 12:11

Afternoon all.
Sal - I was never a wimp until DS1 was born, now I can cry at the drop of a hat Funnily enough it's really easy to cope with 2 and I'm the last person I'd have thought would say that. If we didn't have all the appointments it would be even easier. I think you relax a lot more with your 2nd as you've been there, done that!

PFJ - still no teeth here yet, although he does furiously gum things to death. Sorry to hear about negative result. It's fun trying though

DH is also a snorer/grumbler/chatter when he's asleep. I'm definately having the garage converted into "Mummy's Retreat" if we ever have enough money

OMaLittle · 28/01/2009 12:17

Scorpio, your post on the 'why bf?' thread just made me cry!

I think I will be SAHM definitely for a while. Think #1 plan is apply for PGCE in Sept and just hang around with the kids (spending no money!) until then . I do want to write so DD1 at least will have her five sessions from April and might keep DD2 in a bit too if we can as I think nursery is really good for them (nothing to do with getting time for myself, honest ). Nursery needs a month notice so have to pay for Feb anyway so will try and make really good headway on book during the month. Very excited about it as though haven't actually written for ages it has continued to gestate in my mind and I've got loads of ideas . Also depends on DH job which is looking really shaky. If he loses it don't know what we will do! Go and live somewhere really cheap until my redundancy runs out I guess...

VS obviously I don't mean you should PUT yourself on ebay (though I think you would be very well bid ).

OMaLittle · 28/01/2009 12:19

oh, and don't think there are any jobs doing what I do now so requalifying is only option (phew, kind of, as I hate it) and if do PGCE there is help for childcare costs plus grant as I would be doing maths.

VictorianSqualor · 28/01/2009 12:21

Nah, not pg here. Not due to ovulate yet since last period.

scorpio1 · 28/01/2009 12:44

Oma - you sound really happy with your choice (I have 2 big sheds you can have to live in if dh loses his job )

I totally love BF now - i could not imagine saying that a year ago!

scorpio1 · 28/01/2009 12:45

the sessions for pre-schoolers are great, aren't they!!

LadyBee · 28/01/2009 13:36

Oma, you do sound very positive about it all, and sooo good that DD2 went back on this morning - what a good start to the day (if early).
I'm starting to think a bit more seriously about doing something similar in preparation for going back to NZ or Australia eventually. I don't feel comfortable with DS going to school here in the UK - it's not the quality of education that's the issue, it's just that I feel that I want DS to be a New Zealander, and I think that going to school is one of the big things that shape a person. So I think the clock is ticking for us a bit...trouble is there really isn't much in my line of work available in NZ, so I'll probably need to change and teaching is something that appeals for lots of reasons.
hmmm...can you do PGCE through distance learning/part time? I wonder whether it is accepted in NZ..might have to do some research.
Ok so now you're a free agent - shall we organise a lunch to celebrate? I'll start a meet up thread.

Sal my skin is also a bit rubbish at the moment. I think I've got some sort of hormone/stress related rosacea - it flared up when I went back to NZ after the flights, and gets bad every so often when I have too much coffee. Haven't found anything that helps very much. I'm hoping that maybe when I stop BFing or my period returns things might settle down.

Took DS to GP today, his temp stayed at 39 most of yesterday and last night and he seemed very sore so wanted to get ears/chest checked. GP has given me a prescription for more ibuprofen, more paracetamol, antibiotics for him and antibiotics for me just in case we get worse, although he said he thought it was still just viral not infection (yet). I heart my GP.

Finally, epic post (sorry), we have a CAT!!!!
I kept forgetting to say, we've re-homed a 3yr old neutered tom, he's very handsome and very big and so far he and DS are getting along fine. So far I haven't let him outside, but he is an outside cat so will have to introduce him to the garden eventually, he really doesn't seem that happy about using his litter tray (very undignified), but he seems very content sprawled out next to me on the sofa

ThePFJ · 28/01/2009 13:55

Scorpio - yeap ttc

My ex used to try to have sex with me while he was asleep... once I woke up half way though... it was really really awful. -shudders-

Soph73 · 28/01/2009 14:48

LadyBee - I don't think it's possible to do a PGCE through distance learning/part time. If my DH pops his head round the door in a mo I'll ask him. Nice to hear you've got a lovely GP. Your cat sounds lovely. We've got a cat but she's not very sociable. She'll only sit on my lap and only when she wants to. She has one green eye and one blue one & her name's Bob! Sam is taking more and more of an interest in her so she's giving him a wider berth now when she walks past his chair just in case
