Lilhloo - DS had a caterpillar cake for his first birthday

Right all I have got for DD present wise:

walker
ELC electronic drum toy
bubbles

thats it hoping the broken Vtech toy makes an appearance in time too. Also have a ride on toy still in attic for when she is ready...

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 21:44

Simps all DD had off us was a bead thing (one of those frames you push beads along) which was meant to be a xmas pressie but she never opened it, A puzzle board and a DVD!

simpson · 17/01/2009 21:49

Was thinking rest of family will get her stuff which they will I am sure

I just remember how much stuff DS got for his birthday faaar too much!!!

Lilyloo - where did you get balloons from?

Lilyloo · 17/01/2009 21:50

We were going to give he a bouncy castle and balls to fill it which is in the loft but as it can't come out until summer i am leaving it there.

Got it last year from woolies if anyone remembers but no good to give at xmas, girls birthday and ds getting too big when it's his birthday.

Guess it will have to be a surprise pressie for them all in summer.

I think we have had the caterpillar cake before now for one of them. It's cheap at a fiver

I got a 1 year guarantee with dd vtech toys at xmas. Have you managed to exchange it ??

Lilyloo · 17/01/2009 21:54

Asda they do helium ballons for £2 and tyhen got big bag of normal ones. Only thing they send the dog demented she is scared of them.

We will have to throw them outside after dd has seen them (will keep helium one).

I know what you mean. Ds had lavish party for his first birthday and lot's of presies.
Then with dd1 we caled it down and also it being in Jan (i know it's not fair) but we couldn't face loads of toys!

So poor M has drawn the short straw!!
However as dp said tonight she would rather play with ds balls from his football table or the dogs bowl/food etc

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 21:55

lol - lily exactly like DD. She wasn't really intersted in the toys she wanted the wrapping! lol.

Next year she'll get more when she's more interested but till then I think its best to keep it minimal or things can get overwhelming!

Can I ask you ladies a question please?

simpson · 17/01/2009 22:02

Lucky - ask away, you are amongst friends LOL

Lilyloo - How do you fill the balloons up? Not near asda but my bro is so if I tell him exactly what to do, he will iyswim!!

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 22:04

Right its about .......... sex lol

Hormonal things dont work with me as I get moody/forget to take the pill/put on weight etc.
DP hates condoms as they dont make it any fun/itch/ruin the mood cos you have to stop to put them on.

Is there any alternatives? or is it just pill/injection/implant or condoms

Lilyloo · 17/01/2009 22:07

Lucky will be watching we are chancing things i guess as still partly bf and cerazette was making me mad! Withdrawal working up to now! But we need a more safer method!

Simpson asda fill them for you when you buy them!

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 22:08

Thats the problem lily - we always thought it'd be fine, if another came along then so be it but now with us getting married we cant really have another one till after the wedding so we need to make sure all is ok. IYKWIM.

simpson · 17/01/2009 22:14

Well there isn't much activity going on here really ATM but when it does DH puts one on.

Cerazette is awful hopefully when things are better I want to go to GPs and get another pill but am also crap at taking it and was on mini pill and was 2hrs late taking it and was pg with DS

Would be a disaster if I got pg again

I will never never never have jab again as it made me put on 2 stone

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 22:15

hmmmm, I think i'll start a thread - thank goodness this is annonymous! lol

Lilyloo · 17/01/2009 22:29

Oh well off to bed , the fresh air and the housefull coming tom has done it for me!

Night all

LuckySalem · 17/01/2009 22:30

madmouse · 17/01/2009 23:31

Gingeme · 17/01/2009 23:34

Posted on your thread Lucky
We let our boys go nappyless for a while tonight. George has a habit of doing a pooh right before bed time
They were all merrily playing etc when I walked into the living room, thankfully we have no carpet in there, to find George had done his evening pooh which was all up his legs,on his feet and on his belly (boak). DH wisked him off at arms length to the shower while I cleared up. Not realising he had done a wee a little more in the living room and ds4 was paddling and slipping and sliding in it so he was wisked off to the shower too. Our floor and our kids have never looked so clean
Kids. Don't you just love them?

JustKeepSwimming · 18/01/2009 07:48

Nice Gingeme

DS2 is getting:
A pair of pjs from M&S in the sale
A top i spotted in Debenhams yesterday (rugby type top)
3 books rewrapped from Christmas that he hasn't had a chance to even look at yet! Don't think DS1 looked at them either as they are too babyish for him so he shouldn't notice all the pics

We will put money in his bank account to equal what we spent on DS1's 1st.
DS1 got:
A dinosaur roll-around toy from ELC
A slide and shopping trolley (off ebay)
A swing set for the garden (ebay)
other stuff i'm sure!
Anyway i worked out the other day it equalled £70!

So about £55 owed to DS2.

lucky - love seeing the pics

Hclimbing on me, balamory ending, b-fast time!

JustKeepSwimming · 18/01/2009 08:44

Right, back from breakfast.

Re Lucky's Q - not a lot of activity here either
Condoms when we do. NO baby for me yet - come December time we can get spontaneous again, lol.

Lily - hope M has fun today & the food works out. Try and enjoy yourself too
at her cot escaping! H's cot is right down so he doesn't stand a chance anyway.
Plus he STILL can't roll over, so when he's put down on his back (for nappy changes, in cot, etc.) that's it, he just tries to lift his head and get up that way. weirdo.
Lots of walking with different trolleys but not thinking about doing it on his own yet.

right he's currently doing lengths of the living room, and just stops and looks at me when he reaches the end, best go!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2009 10:11

Morning...

We didnt actually get DS1 anything for his bday since we just had xmas and everyone bought him loads of stuff, we will however be putting money into his account.

Lucky - I have the coil (the non-hormonal one) and whilst my periods are still quite a heavy i dont mind as it deosnt mess with my moods or anything and we dont faff with condoms etc.

Not sure about the baby thing here.. i would like a number 3 and dh is slowly coming round, but i was also toying with the idea of going back to college to do an access course and then a degree with a view to becoming a teacher... if we wait until after i have done this and had 2 years work experience, i will be 35 which in itself is not a problem but I dont want the age gap to be too large so the options are to have another one soon which is not financially possible at the moment or wait for a year and hoep things are better and then put off studying until number 3 has arrived or waiting until after studying but really not sure i will want to start with nappies etc again then.

On another note another little dilemma. Told my dad that we prob wont make it to Turkey this year as we want to decorate and if I study will need our cash. My dad is insisting on paying for the tickets, but spending money will still be a problem and DH doesnt want to go this year.

Nobody speaks english where we go and my family from here are all girls and my bro due to his helath problems isnt always fun so he gets bored. I on the other hand have been going since i was 3 and love it and the kids loved it this year and i would love to go and my dad is quite pushy and he will think he has solved the problem by offering to pay and at some point will ask DH why he doesnt just let me and the kids go. Gotta keep the peace

rockdoctor · 18/01/2009 10:47

Wow - Frankie's been asleep for early an hour and I don't want to wake her as this is so unusual but really want to go out for a walk... Oh well, never mind, more me time.

Lucky - not much activity here since I had the miscarraige before Christmas. will now be relying on condoms as our financial situation says no kids right now, shame as I'm 43 so that's probably it for us. I would avoid cerazette like the plague, don't know anyone who's got on with it.

Hi mixed and sorry about your dilemma. I have a similar situation with DH's family all overseas and speaking "foreign". For me, the language thing is really important so I would try and get her over there as much as possible. I would love DD to be bilingual but I don't think she's getting enough exposure to the other side at the moment.

Oops, she's woken up, must go - sorry that was shaping up to be a more comprehensive post... See you all later!

mixedmamameansbusiness · 18/01/2009 11:05

pronlem really is that my dad has a way of saying things that sound wrong... last year he told DH how when we were little he used to just send me and my mum and brother and he stayed here and worked cos he was the man... dont want that convo to happen again, but would be great for the kids to have 2 weeks in Turkey at the beach, a garden they absolutely adored it this year.

simpson · 18/01/2009 11:16

Mixed mama - does your DH absolutely refuse to go? Would he be fuming if you and Dcs went? Can you explain that its for DCs etc not you (thats the tack I use!!)

Things are tight financially and we can only afford a week at the Isle of Wight this year but think its important we get a break iyswim.

If you are at beach etc, you might not need that much spending money...

Happy Birthday Martha

mixedm - you must go with the boys, with or without dh i think. it's such an important part of your life and who you are. And who the boys are too.
By August food, nappies, etc. will be easier hopefully (Is Sami out of nappies?), no special milk and so on.
And your parents sounds fab so sure they would help out with travel and when you're there.
Lovely of your dad to offer to pay btw though i know it doesn't solve everything. perhaps you could agree a spending budget with dh before you go? and be really strict with it. plus save up whatever you can beforehand?

rockd - hope finances sort themselves out and you do get to get pg again. for you.

well, H nearly rolled this morning!!
and he's just 'cut the corner' between the 2 sofas by letting go and throwing himself across. walking will come soon!!!

Gingeme · 18/01/2009 15:09

Happy birthday Martha xxx
Mixedmamma I wish my Da would pay for us to go to Cyprus The others are right could you not go on your own with the boys? Surely DH would then re think. You definately need the break
jks George keeps doing that throws himself at the sofa from the corner of the coffee table. He just loves being lead around by one hand and is killing himself laughing the whole time
I bought myself some new bras today. Thought I'd risk getting a lower cup as my other bras were getting a bit 'baggy'. Yes it would sem I have gone back to a c cup. I am a little dissapointed as I loved my boobs. My best asset . DH said get a boob job, I told him to get a life
