largevirginbirthandtonic · 22/12/2008 17:14

Was having a chat check up with the midwife. Was in there nearly 2 hours I miss my job >

JamInMyWellies · 22/12/2008 18:24

haha I too reckon lg&t and soh.

Themasterandsnowballs · 22/12/2008 18:47

Pink, what was the verdict?

Let's set up our own little secret forum, we could call it, oh let's see, MAYOs. Anyone is allowed to join so long as they meet the following criteria:

a) they have 27 or more children
b) they have the ability to drink like a fish
c) they can swear like a feckin trouper
d) they have a lovely celtic accent
e) they look like Melinda Messenger
f) they are a teacher
g) they live in exotic places
and finally
h) they like crap music

So, any takers?

MKG · 22/12/2008 19:09

I'm having quite the day!

I just got my Secret Santa. I love it thank you! (whoever you are )

MmeJaffaB · 22/12/2008 19:40

1 of the following criteria TMAM? (how the devil are you?) I'm IN, I'll let you guesse on which one!

The threads are a load of old twollop anyway, who cares! I don't give a shite who posts where. It's none of my business! I am LOL at the whole thing! Although being at the heart of the "clique" thread thing with the challenge a while ago I do find this VERY funny! I thought all that was funny too anyway but obviously people take things very much to heart and very seriously here sometimes. As long as you lot ALWAYS invite me I'm happy!

PJ I hope L is better, both M and J have had the raspy grunty thing going on before now, theirs was due to a chest infection and a sickness bug at the same time. A little scary, but it was just their way of dealing with the discomfort.

AM, I still LOVE you for what you did. xxx

MmeJaffaB · 22/12/2008 19:43

Could someone ask SOH to come along and teach me the correct place to use an explanation mark, I seem to be using them rather alot at the moment and I know I shouldn't be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am also aware that there should have been a question mark in replace of one of them in my last post.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

twelveyeargap · 22/12/2008 20:28

If you put in an exclamation mark, read back the sentence and intonate up at the end, as though surprised. If it sounds wrong, then you don't need the exclamation mark. They are terribly overused. It's really only to indicate surprise, strong emotion or a command. E.g. "Stop!"

I would argue that you probably don't need a question mark in the sentence, "Could someone get SOH over here." My reasoning is that you are phrasing a command politely using the word could, but the actual meaning of what you said is "Someone please get SOH over here." The could is unnecessary. You are giving a command (or request) rather than using the interrogative (a question).

However, we'll need to wait for SOH to tell us the rule.

MmeJaffaB · 22/12/2008 21:45

Thanks TYG. Although, the question mark I was thinking of was with the "who cares?" bit.

!

Did you guesse my met criteria off TMAMs list??

What? My english teacher was nice.

SnowOfHands · 22/12/2008 22:40

You rang?

Pinkjennybellrock · 23/12/2008 09:05

I meet the following criteria:

Looks like Melinda Messenger (allegedly)
Likes crap music (definitely)

L is fine. The GP checked her over and said she was all clear, and as she is only doing it sporadically, and it doesn't appear to be bothering her, just leave it, and it'll probably just stop. I just think it's a weird habit she's started. She's a strange fish.

I got my Secret Santa present yesterday too and I love it! I love it so much that I could only assume that someone who knows me bought it, but I know it wasn't AM and I don't think it was Scoot. Thank you so much, whoever you are!!! Gah, I wish I knew.

Anyhoo, back to Moldies now.

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 23/12/2008 09:07

Morning all

Took Jack to see his first panto last night, Peter Pan. He had a great time and by the end of it he was dancing and clapping and joining in. It was a very late night and he got to bed at 11pm. Our company were sponsoring it and they gave us 120 tickets, i think we managed to fill about 90 which wasnt too bad.

Last day of nursery today as we are taking the kids to see Santa on the Watercress Line in Alton. It's a lovely old steam train that runs up and down the line and Santa makes his way along the carriages and gives a gift to all the kiddies. This is the 3rd time we have done it with Jack and this year i am wise to the present system. I have said that the children are in the 2-3 and 4-6 age range otherwise Ella is likely to get something quite babyish.

Getting hair done this morning and then making mince pies and some more gingerbread this afternoon with J&E.

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 23/12/2008 09:08

I think i make it into the group with criteria c & h

Pinkjennybellrock · 23/12/2008 09:09

And SOH? You still haven't emailed me to tell me why you never email me anymore.

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 23/12/2008 09:10

Pink, forgot to say thanks for the kiddies pressies, they arrived yesterday

Pinkjennybellrock · 23/12/2008 09:11

You're very welcome. Your day sounds heavenly.

Mrs JB - my boss just asked me if I want anything from McDonalds, and I said no. Proud?

charleymouse · 23/12/2008 09:19

Obviously I fancy you all as you are all beautiful lovely people with big norks and great taste in music.

MmeJaffaB · 23/12/2008 11:54

Oh I forgot lg&t, Happy Christmas and good luck with SOH the baby. x

AMeadowfullofChristmasTrees · 23/12/2008 15:08

Hope you had fun on the Watercress Line, i meant to say that we are there tomorrow, so no point in putting them to nursery for 2hours. I used to go it as a child and it was much better then. Did your SIL manage to get her money back from that crappy Christmas land place?

Well done Pink on saying 'no' to the golden arches. I was tempted this morning.

I now have slightly purple hair. Fancied a change and quite like it

Pinkjennybellrock · 23/12/2008 16:08

Ooooh lovely. Suwoo has purple hair and it's faaaaabulous, dahling! I am a little bit blonder, but not so much that any of my friends have even noticed!

I feel better though. Much less goth-like.
