Hi all

JKS - Grrr for the early start!! On the Xmas thing I know that the "mas" part comes from Anglo Saxon for "festival" but MM will no doubt know more

Lilyloo - on the car!!! Just what you don't need!! What are you planning to do today?

I am going to be quite busy: have to go to chemist to get DD's milk, go to local tescos for small shop (fun with a double buggy on Xmas Eve!)go to Argos to pick up DD's birthday pressie, make "reindeer" food with DS and sprinkle it outside, watch Polar Express at 3pm.

Most of the Xmas pressies are at my mum's now my dad took them yesterday. Only a few to pack up for tomorrow morning...

DD is still not well and eating like a bird But she doesn't have a temp now which is good...

Gingemejinglybells · 24/12/2008 11:45

Morning ladies.
I knew it would be a one off George sleeping through Though I think he mostly had a bottle because he had a dry throat. It realy sounded like he was struggling drinking it
I have been putting some of the boys toys away that they don't real play with ready for the onslaught tommorrow. Not sure weather to store them in the shed and rotate them or take them to playgroup when it starts again next month.
Havn't even thought about Georges birthday yet! and I'm usualy so organised.
Well if I don't return today I wish you all a peaceful and Happy Christmas xxxx

MadLyCarrolingChristmasMouse · 24/12/2008 11:48

ouch just a five minutes break from cleaning madness. Bedrooms and bathroom sparkling now

simpson appetite for solids is the last thing to come back I find. Glad she is on the mend.

Xmas - and you are asking me? I never ever write it, I always write Christmas as what we celebrate is the birth of Christ. I guess it is just laziness really.

Night: did cc when nathan woke at 9.40, he kept it up for half an hour then slept til 12.30 when he fed.

awake from 2.30 til 3.45 in his cot with me popping in every 5,10,20 etc (although I think I must have briefly fallen asleep while Nathan was muttering away ), then feed 5.15 and awake 7 back into our bed asleep until 8. so sounds worse than it is, i feel less tired and Nathan has had one feed less, which is good.

JustKeepSingingCarols · 24/12/2008 13:01

well, i always just thought it was laziness writing Xmas, and refused to use it but....

the X comes from a Greek word for Christ
Xristos
and X was used as an abbreviation for Christ as far back as AD 1021!
(well they often wrote Xt or Xp as when written in Greek Xristos is Xp)

So may use it from now on in full knowledge that i'm not just being lazy [frgin]

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 24/12/2008 13:39

It's CHRISTMAS EVE!!!

Speak to you on Boxing day ladies. I probably won't be able to get back before then. Hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Much love and hugs (with extras to LaT and Lily for the crappiness) to everyone and I hope Santa brings you everything you want.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 24/12/2008 16:56

Just watched The Polar Express [gsmile]

What a lovely film. Never seen it before. DS loved it

DS is having tea then time to make reindeer food and sprinkle outside and put "key" outside too.

Might wait till 6ish when DD will be in bed as she is a bit of a velcro baby today....

LaTurkey · 24/12/2008 18:03

Thanks for nice messages. All seeming a bit better today. Have decorated and made the cake!

Feliz noche buena a todo
Which means Happy Christmas Eve to everyone. Christmas Eve is bigger than the 25th in Spain.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 24/12/2008 18:29

Glad things a bit better today LaT

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 25/12/2008 08:15

Hope everybody has a great day.

Happy Christmas

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 08:13

Morning all,

Can only leave a quick note cos we're going "sales" shopping.

Christmas was lovely although DD was overwhelmed and we've still got about 10 presents to open for her. lol

I had a BRILLIANT present for xmas. An engagement ring

Hope you all had as good a christmas as we did. Hugs to all.

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 26/12/2008 10:28

hey oLucky. Happened to me 3 Christmases ago. DH hid the ring in the dog kennel

hope you all had a good christmas day. xx

HarkTheHeraldAngeChica · 26/12/2008 10:28

?was supposed to read "congratulations"

madmouse · 26/12/2008 11:25

Lucky! Weddingbells! Congratulations!

Hope you all had a good day, we did, nice and quiet.

Feeling chuffed today as cc is starting to work already.

Nathan slept 8.15 till 11.30 which is great anyway, then I did cc until 12 and he slept again til 1.30 when he fed. awake again 3.30, cc until 4 i think (was very sleepy) then he went to 8.30 without feeding again. feel so human and slept out.

friends coming soon see y'all later

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 26/12/2008 12:16

Lucky - Big congratulations!! {fgrin]

Glad everyone had a good day, all good here too

LaTurkey · 26/12/2008 16:41

CONGRATULATIONS!

Ooo I love a wedding, me.

We had a nice day. Did everyone else?

Housemum · 26/12/2008 18:28

Congratulations from me too!

Had lovely Christmas - Amelie still has 2 presents to go, she was spectacularly unimpressed by the idea of things-in-wrapping-paper. She enjoyed the Leapfrog table my mum got her, middle sister is going mad on Amelie's wheely-bug (which we knew would happen, Millie's really a bit too small for it tbh but it was such a bargain in the summer!)

Quiet day at home (well, in the sense of not many people but my DD2 can make enough noise for an army!) - loads of food and glad I wore a jersey wrap dress so it expanded with me! Great to be able to enjoy alcohol and blue cheese this year.

And if anyone has the Nigella's Christmas book, make the chilli jam - it is delicious! And not too expensive - think it cost me just over a fiver to make 6 pots, so less than buying chutney in the shops. Great with cheese and crackers, or cold turkey and ham.

Can't wait till last relatives have visited tomorrow, will get the Xmas (now I'm using the abbreviation as it's not just modern laziness!) stuff down in next day or so, then it's not up for Amelie's birthday - OK so she's too young now, but I want to start the habit as it must be a bit annoying when you're bigger to have your birthday overshadowed by Xmas.

Glad to hear cc is working for you, Madmouse.

Lilyloo, did they get the gas on in the end?

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 26/12/2008 18:34

Lucky - Did you get anything good in the sales? Have to brave it and go to shops tomorrow as DD's V tech toy she got off me and DH is broken

Did DP do the whole down on one knee thing?

MM - Glad CC seems to be doing the trick

Angechica - LOL at ring in the dog kennel!!

LaT - Glad your day was good. How is your brother doing?

All good here and spent today at my mum's and I kept some pressies back for Dcs as DH was working yesterday so he could see them being opened.

Ds's favourite presents are the wheelybug and a toy mobile phone from pound land

DD liked the paper of course!!

They both got so much stuff from relatives that I have kept some back for birthdays etc...

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 18:39

Ok I'm here.

Sales were pretty crap but then we didn't venture into the shopping centre so may have been some bargains there. Woolies had BRILLIANT bargains so got quite a bit from there.

He wasn't on one knee he was on two wherehebelongs but he did ask properly. He'd even gone to my parents the night before to ask dad's permission blessing.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 26/12/2008 18:51

Might have to go into woolies tomorrow then

Have to take DD's toy back and buy a new toaster as ours has finally died...and we still don't have a hoover

Housemum - Another household with child and wheelybug crashing about into everything then!!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 18:59

Yeh its worth it. All the DVD's & CD's were 1/2 price.
Bought all DD's invitations and party bags (32 of each - way too many) for £1.

madmouse · 26/12/2008 19:11

Oh Lucky that is proper romantic

Do tell him though that in marriage everything is shared, including sleep

Have you set a date, or are you going to save up first?

I made a beef and guiness stew with cranberries for lunch with friends. Blitzed some for Nathan with some boiled spuds, not expecting much and ended up making him a second helping he kept on spooning it away . He does like adult tastes it seems.

He has also just drank cowsmilk from a cup (he is suddenly heavily into drinking from a cup without a lid

Oh, and you can ask him where s ummy's nose/mouth or daddy's nose/mouth and he will grab (hard) the body part in question. Only if mummy ad daddy are both on offer it gets confusing

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 19:15

We've not really set a date we have to save up. Although I'd like to get married early 2010, he thinks more like 2011. So... we'll have to wait and see. I want to lose some weight - although I'm finding it hard to see the point cos I'm gonna have overhanging flab!! lol

That's wonderful news about Nathan!!

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 26/12/2008 19:28

Great news about Nathan drinking from cup!! And knowing nose, eyes etc LOL.

DD sat in highchair with us today and yesterday and I think she has finally got the hang of BLW Before i used to pop things like blueberries in her mouth and she would get too cross to do it herself but lunch today she had 4 roast parsnips by herself!!

AaliyahsFirstXmas · 26/12/2008 19:31

oh congrats Simps DD!!

ok ok, my turn to share Aaliyah's feat of the xmas period.

Yesterday she was standing by the xmas tree table holding on trying to open a present she got annoyed and let go for about 1 min to get the present with both hands then remembered and grabbed hold again.
TODAY - she has been stood alone on and off all day. at one point it had been for about 5 mins and i'm not kidding!! It's brilliant and I keep gushing to DP about it and he's going yes I know I saw.

simpsonsChristmasSpecial · 26/12/2008 21:00

Awww bless Aaliyah She will be walking any day now....

Molly can now (finally) get from lying down to sitting to crawling position by herself She still doesn't really go anywhere though just rocks backwards & forwards!!
