Ewe- T is totally fine and very advanced for her age. She looks fab. She's got lovely little chubby cheeks!

HolidaysQueen · 10/12/2008 21:20

Ewe - my DS is just above 9th centile and is just under 17lbs (think he's 2-3 weeks younger than your DD hence slight difference in centiles). He started at just under 90th, being 9lb at birth so has dropped way off where he was and where he is expected to be. I have really good HVs though (you don't hear that often on MN!) who refuse to get stressed because he has always put on weight, however little, and he is clearly very happy and meeting his milestones. From what you've said about your DD, she is definitely the same, so I really wouldn't worry!!

fitnfestiveone · 10/12/2008 21:30

Am most impressed with all the creative and real food you're doing...we're doing slummy mummy stuff over here

Milk - 7scoops (so 8oz with the water added) at 6.30, 2.30 and 7.15

Brekkie about 8.30 is baby porridge atm,
Lunch about 11.30-12 is usually most or all of a stage 2 jar of food followed by a baby yogurt.

Tea around 4.30 ish is a stage 1 jar of savoury followed by a dessert jar or pouch. He's topping up every so often with some rusks.

No idea what weight he is, get weighed next Tues for 1st time since Sept, don't think he's slipped any as he's very, erm, dense compared to his cousin who's 2 weeks younger! Also seems to be sprouting well, but can't get him lying still enough to measure him - might get advance measurement done this weekend against the kitchen wall or something

fitnfestiveone · 10/12/2008 21:37

oh, and on the toys front, haven't washed any of his yet as he isn't really interested in soft toys or other comforters. Do wash teethers as they generally end up on the floor. Stopped sterilising bottles unless i feel like it have time.
Still very impressed that he finds new things to interest him every time on his FP activity gym, the flash cards now fascinate hiim and he'll sit there turning them over and over!

turtledove23 · 11/12/2008 04:26

Is it ok to hate your baby sometimes? I have had the worst night since he was born and am now too upset to go back to sleep. Just my luck he'll probably sleep now...don't know what the "£$%n is up with him. Been up basically all night. Happy birthday.
(Have to admit I put him in his cot and went outside and screamed.)

littleducks · 11/12/2008 07:13

turtle, hope that your day improves rapidly! Happy Birthday

have had a rough night as my battered boy has beendtruggling with cp and now is bunged full of cold, can only sleep on my chest uprighted and to make matters worse i have stupidly lost the vapour rub

dd has been awake since 6.30 and is extra lively how the hell can i juggle both their needs?

oh and i think i win a prize for worst mummy, ds was last weighed june/july, will prob weigh him in jan when he has hv check

fitnfestiveone · 11/12/2008 07:43

I'm with you turtle, LO was up sometime before 4 this morning with a screaming fit after his cough woke him up. Took about 1/2 hr to calm down enough for him to sip some water then he was out like a light on top of me and I couldn't sleep afterwards.
Think his top teeth are making the final breakthrough though, so fingers crossed for him getting a bit of relief soon.
Have you got even more teeth coming though, how many now, still 7?

Got to go out and be festive tonight, meal costs stupid money for only 2 blardy courses, so have opted to drive us all there rather than waste another £30 on taxis if I'm not going to have more than 1 glass of wine anyway.
Gotta go to work now, laters.

merryberry · 11/12/2008 08:18

sorry rough night turtle, hoping you have a happier birthday later

ilovegreenbeans · 11/12/2008 10:21

happy birthday turtle, so sorry about the night- hope today is better

DD doesn't eat breakfast, but she puts away lots of food at her other meals, so I guess it all evens out? She's definitely thinned out since starting solids, but her cheeks make up for it so noone would ever know!

Ewe · 11/12/2008 12:34

So glad I wasn't the only one who had a shocking night, also had a baby who would only sleep on my chest upright and still woke herself up coughing every 10 mins. I am dead at work today and have a client meeting in a minute. Eurrrghh!

Sorry many of you had a crap night too. Hope your birthday improves turtle.

ilovegreenbeans · 11/12/2008 14:00

Remember all our stress last year about peanuts? here

I especially like the bit about the school bus!

turtledove23 · 11/12/2008 15:11

Birthday improving. DS gave me kiss without me asking for one, shopping and lunch was nice AND the clothes I bought are size 10!!!!!!
Hope everyone's LOs are behaving.

merryberry · 11/12/2008 15:19

good, turtle

still laughing about peanut bus. this from the country where at least 1/3 of homes with kids have at least one gun in them....

fitnfestiveone · 11/12/2008 18:07

Turtle - size 10!!!

Wow, in my dreams, have never been that as far as I know (well, since leaving school anyway!)

Happy birthday

wearehipsandmakers · 12/12/2008 11:10

Hoping to get DD weighed today at the baby clinic for the first time in 4 months. Also have to return the scales I bought in a vain attempt to avoid said baby clinic as they put her weight at 9kg which means she's jumped into the top 9 percent from the lower 25 percent. I don't think that's right. She in such a good mood at the moment- it almost makes up for the 5 o'clock start when she is so pleased to see you she literally throws her feet over her head.
But only almost.
DS has to have his 2 front teeth out under general anaesthetic on Wednesday. It's putting the serious heebie jeebies up DH and I, neither of whom have had to have an operation. The dentist said he'll be fine after an hour or so but it is just putting the glooms on us.. He has his christmas party this PM so at 4 I'll have to go pick up a child managing to be exhausted and manically hyper at the same time. Oh the jollility.

WeWishEWEaMerryXmas · 12/12/2008 13:31

Kids xmas parties [shudder] DD has two at nursery... They are 9months old for goodness sake!

merryberry · 12/12/2008 13:56

aw, wearehips, it will be ok...i had all my dental work done under ga as a kid, twas the done thing then it seems, and i can vaguely remember loving the fuss and not minding the teeth stuff at all as a result! i hope your LO is the same.

we've just had a fun morning at a&e...gg has had this tiny lump on forehead for a few weeks, that bleeds copiously every other day when whacked/scraped/presssed. gp today sent us in to a&e where they essentially stuck a plaster on it. no sh*t sherlock...but at least we know he doesn't have any clotting issues as well now. gg seems to have threated the whole experience as a variation on play group and been a trouper throughout. i on the other hand am knackered and restive and want a break.

monthlymayhem · 12/12/2008 15:04

Sorry to hear most people are having a tough time. It seems to be the common theme.

DS has had a hideous cold for what seems like days on end, and coughs so hard at night that he honestly sounds like he's choking and can't breathe, it's v horrible. As a result, he's been up generally 6-7 times on a good night

Any recommendations for cough syrups etc? I've just been giving a little calpol and sips of water but not sure if there's anything better?

Tuesday night really took the biscuit though, DH nightshift, DS was up every bl%@dy hour and I had a d&v bug so was running between the toilet and DS all night. Bug now seems to have gone, and am trying to look on the bright side that my Xmas dress should now fit a little better

DS's crawling has stepped up a gear this week and absolutely nothing is safe. He's also been very clingy but think that's just 'cause he's feeling poorly. Poor DH is getting a little offended though as DS only wants mummy....(which I can't help but be secretly about )

On the eating front DS still only drinks 4oz at a time, so is still on 4/5 feeds, but generally eats well unless his teeth are sore or he's got the cold....which seems to be most of the time at the moment. He is still just on the 9th centile for weight, but started out on the 4th. I measured him the other day, and length wise he seems to have shot up to the 80th centile from the 25th, so is a very long skinny baby.

wearehipsandmakers · 12/12/2008 15:15

thanks for saying that MB- I think because DH and I haven't had GA we're maybe thinking it's bigger and scarier than it really is.
Sorry you had to go to A&E for nothing really but at least you can blame the GP. When DS was about 18 months old I took him in for what I think was probably pins and needles . He woke up from his nap screaming uncontrolably everytime I tried to move his arm. after half an hour took him to A&E where he was absolutely fine. The nurse at assessment, bless her, said nothing derogatory about me.

merryberry · 12/12/2008 15:43

ah here's one for all of you with changing table ishoos...i just answered the door to chuggers with lime green socks tucked under the arms of my glasses. yes, i'd just been changing gg's mountainous poo and forgot they were there for entertainment value while i tried to descratch a dvd for ds1.

merryberry · 12/12/2008 15:45

at pins and needles, yes i know you do feel a bit daft if you're baby isn't in full Casualty mode don't you. i apologised to EVERYONE that we were there at all, and parroted the gp sent us endlessly...

twas very very busy with d&v and bronchiolitis babies. so am now kind of expecting gg to have picked something up. sigh

turtledove23 · 13/12/2008 08:42

Ugh. DH has just informed me that his friends (I call them the perfects) are coming to dinner at ours on Tuesday. They live in a designer palace, have au pair/cleaner/loads of help, she is super healthy, he earns bundles in the city. I live in a small flat that isn't worth doing up as we will move once prices are done dropping, have a no-sleep baby, house is ok but not showroom spotless like hers. I have avoided them coming here for 4 years. I will be working that morning (first postnatal doula job!) so DH will be in the house with him til 1. I am dreading it. Any ideas for easy but impressive dinner? I used to love dinner parties, now just resent staying up when I could be asleep!

turtledove23 · 13/12/2008 08:43

Should explain...DH in house with baby means I may as well wait til after to clean house...

HolidaysQueen · 13/12/2008 09:39

turtle - do Delia's paprika chicken - dead easy and tastes delish. Don't bother with browning the chicken - just buy skinned chicken thighs and put them straight in the pot with a tin of tomatoes after you've cooked the onion, flour and spices. Serve with rice and mange tout. Buy Gu chocolate desserts. Everybody loves them.

wearehipsandmakers · 13/12/2008 10:01

Slow cooked shoulder of pork- put in oven in AM and left, french peas and potato dauphinoise. Cheesecake, made day before, and fresh fruit.
Don't worry if they're not impressed- they die of a cholesterol overload the day after anyway..
