I thought I'd start a new thread before we run out of space...

Lollipop, literally just replied, then came back on here and saw your post!

Sassyfrassy · 01/12/2008 19:01

Hopefully, I have a bit of paper with the colic massage routine that is supposed to help poo along. It always works well with Katie. I'd be happy to send you a copy if you would like.

ILikeToHoHoHo · 01/12/2008 19:33

HOPEFULLY - we have taken the newborn insert out of the Maxi-Cosi. I believe as long as your lo has got good muscle tone and can hold their head without the support, then it's fine to take it away. M looks a lot more comfortable in his car seat now, as we had to stuff him in it a bit before!

It sounds like T needs a good long session in the poo chair!

Kagey · 01/12/2008 19:40

Hi all,

Hope you are all well!!

Erin had her jabs today and it was quite distressing for us both. DH held her and I had to look away as she started screeching . She had calmed down by the time she left the surgery and then slept for a couple of hours. She is a little grizzly now but hope that will pass soon. I gave her a little infant calpol before.

Also had my check too and have been told not to run, which is a bit annoying as just got into it again, but only a few more weeks - must stay clear of all christmas goodies for the timebeing.

carrieon · 01/12/2008 19:45

Evening all. mama I'm afraid Thursday isn't any good - toddlers then doing the second q&a for the student doctors about childbirth! We'll be at creepy crawlies 2:30-4:30 on Friday if you're interested? Otherwise a starbucks next week will be great. I'll see if I can fob dd off with an apple again

Imoscarsmum I also wondered the over-tired thing for your LO. And according to GF colic is as a result of too many small feeds and not enough full feeds, its something to do with how the foremilk is digested producing a lot more gas. I have no idea how your LO feeds but perhaps you could push to fewer feeds which will be bigger? I really hope for your sakes things get better soon. Thinking of you right now in fact!

Meals on wheels has just arrived courtesy of good friends, better go!

hopefully · 01/12/2008 20:01

sass that would be brilliant - do you have an email address I can email you on? Or I can post mine if you all promise not to remember my RL name!

Biglips AF is going to take me horribly by surprise when it finally appears - I still haven't recovered from childbirth, how can my body begin thinking I'm ready to start again?

ILTMIMI (I assume that's you under the festive name!) I think we'll have to take out the cushion next time we go in the car (thursday) as he looks so bloody uncomfortable wedged in there at the moment, poor chap.

Still no poo... he is in the poo bouncy chair though, so hoping for some action soon.

hopefully · 01/12/2008 20:05

Oh, and I also found that T's colic improved hugely when I made a concerted effort to persuade him to take bigger feeds (lots back stroking, burping etc to keep him awake for feeds) and go longer between them. During his last growth spurt when he went back to feeding more frequently his colic put in a reappearance instantly.
Don't know if it works for all babies (T seems to have a particularly crap gut, perhaps due to the monstrous antibiotics I was on post childbirth?), but it definitely does for us.

splishsplosh · 01/12/2008 20:30

Usaually we're out most of the day and C sleeps lots - today we've been in, except for a walk to Tescos when she slept - other than that she's woken up about 10mins max after I've put her down to sleep - v frustrating as I have so much to do. Now she's asleep on my lap.

How do those of you with more than 1 manage bedtimes? Dd1 still has a bf at bedtime, and if C is awake I find it really hard, as I'm rubbish at managing both, and if C is tired or hungry then find it frustrating trying to put dd1 to bed with crying from C.

Night times really vary - she's usually quite perky in the evening, then ready to sleep at 11. Sometimes she only wakes once, but recently she's been waking every couple of hours, though not for very long. Probably not helped by her ongoing snufflingI've been sprinkling olbas oil around after 1 night she sounded like she could hardly breathe - I was dreading her getting back to problems feeding and breathing and needding to go back into hospital

ninja · 01/12/2008 20:47

near the end of thread alert - we'll need a new name ladies!

ninja · 01/12/2008 21:17

OK - I'm officially going mad.

I just found a pack of cheese under dd's bed . I must have had it in my hand (WHY??) when I went up to inspect her Father Christmas Grotto earlier

StarlightAssumptionMcKenzie · 01/12/2008 21:17

I think a nice positive name!

a) The Sept 08 Survivors
b) Remember what we were doing this time last year?
c) I think I vaguely remember how night differs from day!

ninja · 01/12/2008 21:26

I like b) but it needs a at the end?

StarlightWonderStarlightBright · 01/12/2008 21:34

Where's Ponymum these days?

plusonemore · 01/12/2008 21:59

kagey we also had check up and jabs today. Why have you been told not to run? I wasnt asked about ecercise at all but have been playing netball since ds was 4 weeks!

plusonemore · 01/12/2008 22:04

oops exercise

pacita · 01/12/2008 22:27

Hello ladies, I've not visited MN for a while as I'm in Spain with my parents. It's been lovely to have lots of enthusiastic spaniards fussing about D, and not to have to cook, clean and jiggle D on my own all day.

Unfortunately, my grandmother was taken into hospital the day before I arrived. I have been to see her, but I know she can't wait to see the baby. I think that, even though it's not the best, I will bring Diego into the hospital to visit her if she's not out before I return to London.

I have just had a massive catchupthon and read all your posts:

Digitalgirl how awful! Thank God you are both ok. Don't feel guilty - it could really happen to any of us.

Potxola and starlight LOL, yes, I am a lot more carefully dressed and much cleaner when I go out here in Spain than in London. Like you say, it's a good thing they don't see the state I'm in most days!

Hopefully and Sass, D has not done a poo for 5 days - it's not the first time either, but I would love it if I could also have a look at the poo-busting routine - although he does not seem too bothered.

Also, D has done two nights with only one night feed (I don't consider the 11 o'clock a night feed) at 4 in the morning. I'm super chuffed and hope it lasts! I put it down to the fact that he has been feeding super frequently during the day. This frequent feeding does not seem to make him colicky at all...

pacita · 02/12/2008 00:06

Well, After five days diego just did a creamy, khaki green poo. I think I have to make sure I stick to one boob per feed...

Hi Starlight did you get the connecta?

ANYOME ELSE GOT SNOW?? It's going to be a fun cross country walk to baby group this morning . Better go and get DD1 up and show her, she'll be SOO excited!

hopefully · 02/12/2008 07:57

Lots of straining, but no action yet, despite plenty of time in the poo chair! Hoping something is imminent, although seriously not looking forward to this nappy change...

jenpet · 02/12/2008 08:41

Eeek! Trying to catch up with everyone!
Digitalgirl how absolutely awful for you, hope you are feeling much better now, it is really frightening (I know this as I seem to be always bumping things in our car lol)
Starlight Loving the Xmas name-change! I also like b) as the new thread title!
Hopefully I think babies just get more efficient at processing milk, and actually need to poo a bit less - I also really think if you are stressed (about anything) LO's really, really pick up on that (much more so than grown-ups do) and it makes tham unsettled. Samuel was a coupla-poos-a-day kinda baby for ages, now it once or twice a week - he's just more efficient with the milk. Try not to worry x
Well, am very of everyone who has snow! We have lots of frost, and temps of minus 4 this morning (of course DH has the car today) so it was a very chilly walk to school with 2 eskimo DS'S!

Kagey · 02/12/2008 09:05

Pacita - sorry to hear about your Grandmother - I hope she is out of hospital soon and gets to spend lots of time with you and Diego!

Plusonemore - the nurse said that I should have to refrain from running until at least 12-weeks after the c-section to allow my insides to recover, or else it could affect any further pregnancies. It pretty much scared me the last part.

Erin had a mammoth sleep last night and did not wake up until 8am, and is bright as a button this morning - smiling, giggling and wriggling in the baby bouncer.

V.jealous about snow, bright blue sky here today in SE London, perfect for a nice walk in a bit.

Have a good day all!

imoscarsmum · 02/12/2008 09:30

ladies you must take a look at the funny thread about pfb on the home page - v funny! cant do links sorry

Sassyfrassy · 02/12/2008 09:47

Hopefully and pacita, you can email me at l.bengtsson76 at gmail.com

plusonemore · 02/12/2008 09:51

kagey was it specifically cos of c section? worried i might have done some damage now!! (i had vb tho)

anyone elses LO sleep and sleep after 1st jabs? had to wake Alfie at 8 this morn, and then has been asleep since 8.30, am thinking I should wake him again...?

pacita · 02/12/2008 10:24

Sass thanks for this, I'll email you now.

plusone I know nothing about these things, but my instinct is generally to let them sleep, as sleep in itself is very healing...

And it has been snowing here in north Spain too!
