Rant away AliP! I love your descriptions of your NCT people. I agree with the idea of talking to the ones you like and forming a splinter cell group. I went to a local NCT meet and greet and DH and I are agreed we'd never go back. So many wierdos! The woman who warned us about PND mentioned the Priory so many times, she clearly thought that it was equivalent to an exclusive members club...

And I'm not sure we'd have been welcome. Middle class is an insult around here too, but in a slightly different way. The upper class folks in the village are terrfified that the credit crunch might bring their status down to middle class.

Speaking of class, I saw a v funny clip of that Prescott show about class. JP said to some young girls on a council estate that he'd consider them working class. They said they were better than working class, when he asked shy they said that they'd never worked!

DH out on the pi55 tonight. Not sure I can tolerant looking after two babies tomorrow...

Ryder is a bit snuffly and has started snoring. DH snores when drunk as well. I do not anticipate a good night's sleep tonight.

I'm bored with the "when are you going to wean" comments too. Esp as everyone is so sure that it'll make R put on weight, yeah cos carrots and apples are so fattening!

ThePenguinProject · 21/11/2008 22:13

Poppy - I can't remember if you are going back to work. Remember the two rons from Hale and Pace? We could set up a business dooing a similar kind of thing, we could be the Two (Militant) Mums and we could go around sorting things and people out for other Mums...

poppy34 · 21/11/2008 22:14

lol at people in your village pp - and sympathies re the dual snoring...

Dear god - Howard jones

stupid woman at your nct - priory is a working medical establishment , not somewhere that is liek a glorified health farm -sorry but makes me when ignorant people seem to think its a name drop thing

poppy34 · 21/11/2008 22:15

I am but I'm always happy to do a sideline - esp if it involves terrorising nct mothers

ThePenguinProject · 21/11/2008 22:20

Deb - Sorry you're feeling down. Winter dieting is crap isn't it?

Re: the sleeping thru talk, I think everyone is perfectly entitled to complain if/when their LOs wake up in the night, but not if it's the first/second/third time ever.

Hiya UDC! Missed you. How's little D?

ThePenguinProject · 21/11/2008 22:23

I think we should do it just for fun Poppy! BTW What channel are you watching?

Might go play on some AIBU threads...hee hee.

poppy34 · 21/11/2008 22:25

go watch itv... its class friday night viewing

poppy34 · 21/11/2008 22:35

alipalli you shoudl be watching this on itv..they had an ORIGINAL my pretty pony ad on it

ThePenguinProject · 21/11/2008 22:43

Paul Young still looks and sounds pretty good.

alipalli · 21/11/2008 22:47

thank you wise ladies for your sympathies, suggestions and for not telling me to get over myself. I feel like a bit of a bitch for having these unkind thoughts let alone posting them. The splinter cell is already part formed, I would love to know if any of the nice quiet ones think the same as me. I also have plans for trying out some baby and toddler groups too.

Sad to hear that you have had a rubbish week Deb. I remember from my brief spell living the Alps that Dec was horribly cold and dangerously icy but it got nicer after the New Year.

Welldone Amber on going back to the drs. You might be a mentalist but you are our mentalist and your post made me LOL.

No battery left on the iPod so lights out time here. Sorry to those I have ignored.

bitofadramaqueen · 21/11/2008 23:15

marking my spot but too tired to chat.

Would love militant poppy to go round to jewellers!

josey · 21/11/2008 23:27

AHHHH sorry guys need to scream, I hate the fact that i feel as though I should be medically trained to look after my daughter and people talk to me like I am medically trained and know what the FKKKKKKKKKKKK they are talking about......IM so fed up of Oli being unwell and skurling all the time, but they wont treat her with anything other than calpol, she has only been sick once today which is a bonus!!!

I got a special call from her consultant today who spoke to her neurologist(cant even spell it thats how crap i am) and they are not worried about the eeg and dont think they should treat her as I would know if she was taking fits, though fits can be as small as a lip twitch.....they are feeling uplifted by this WTF.

On a good note, as sick as she has been she has managed to put on 4oz.

Im not bothering with winter dieting, I have been bleeding for 9 weeks now since taking the anti ds, which is making me shead weight.

famous people well there is Deb, essie,lol, when I was 4 i gave John Craven a daisy chain Johnny morris, Terry Nupkins, the dodgy wee guy in Monarch of the glen and vodafone add, and a couple of footballers which I really cant remember who.

The snow here is really bad, Im having lots of fun watching idiots trying to up and down the hill outside, AH you would be amused as you know where I stay, the have spades digging cars all the way to the top and pushing cars, its better than tv!!

Anyway I have groaned enough, sorry xxx

systemsaddict · 22/11/2008 08:56

Hi guys, hope to catch up later today but no time now - my week has been:
Mon back at work;
Tue v. overrunning hospital check for Caitlin;
no sleep Tues night, blamed the sleepsuit;
Weds Caitlin threw up;
fine overnight so tried her at nursery again but sick again and had to take her home Thu afternoon (so much for first week at work, they've barely seen me!!);
Thu night Liam's eardrum perforated with much screaming (again, must be twelfth time at least ...), so he is back on anti-b's, waiting for swab results as he might need special ones (v. bad ENT history).
Meanwhile Caitlin now has diarrhoea.

Been sleeping in armchair downstairs next to travel cot so C doesn't cover our bed in puke / poo, while Liam sleeps in our bed with dp and we pass the Calpol bottle around like a relay baton. All her and my clothes are either wet (have had no chance to hang them out) or covered in poo. I am wearing the tracksuit trousers I have been sleeping in as refuse to buy enough clothes to keep me going in this size and have run out.

Fortunately my best mate visited Wednesday before things kicked off - we don't get to see much of each other, both been immobilised by childbearing in past few years, so am fortified by extensive chat therapy!

pleasechange · 22/11/2008 10:44

systemsaddict what a week. Hope the DC's get better soon

debs sorry to hear you were feeling down this week. The diamond thing must have been upsetting, and then everything else just made you feel worse. I too can empathise with the weight thing. I had lost 2 pounds and then put one back on. I thought I would be down to 10stone by xmas but there is no chance (pre pregnancy I was 9.7).

bdq how rude of that jeweller! I bet you didn't know what to say. My wedding ring wouldn't fit me for ages, then I just wedged it on one day. There is now way I'd be able to get it off again tho it's so tight!

josey feel free to scream, I don't blame you. That's good Olivia has put on weight

Well A has had a terrible cough and diarrhoea this week. Have been at the docs a few times and turns out he has something called respiratory syncilitis virus. Apparently it's really common and is responsible for most hospitalisations for infants, way more than meningitis, but awareness is really low. I'm hoping he recovers soon, but the gp said it could be 4-6 weeks. Poor thing. Also means we can't really get out much or do anything in the meantime. I was hoping to visit my parents (overseas) before xmas but now there's no chance

Neenztwinz · 22/11/2008 13:23

Hi all, feeling really tired today cos I couldn't sleep at all last night, was tossing and turning till 3am! Esther woke at 5.30am same as she was doing till a few days ago but I just ignored her and she went back to sleep on her own. She was not really crying, just making noise so thought I'd try ignoring her and see what happened.

Me and DH are being taken out for dinner tonight by one of his barrister friends, grandparents are babysitting, so quite looking forward to that but am a bit scared that I won't have anything to talk about except babies! I hardly know anthing about current affairs now. I used to love reading the papers, now I don't get the time . Though if I didn;t spend so much time on here I might have the time (it is not the same reading online as reading a proper paper tho!)

Amberc · 22/11/2008 14:38

Allnew - it would be my dream to be anywhere near 10st! I still haven't lost one pound yet and have probably gained due to my new lunching and latte pasttime. Oh well. Wprse things to worry about and have decided to start a diet in new year after Xmas has come and gone ready for work. Would be nice to get into my old work clothes but not holding too much hope.

Ali - thanks like being the resident June nutter!

aberdeenhiker · 22/11/2008 16:56

Deb - sorry to hear you're having a down week and lost the diamond. Stuff like that always makes me lose it completely, straw breaking camel's back? With planning to move back and the winter season etc. you're rather busy these days and that must be stressful.

josey I wish I'd been in your living room watching that last night! Glad you came on here and had a yell though - sounds like you definitely need to get rid of some frustration - bedside manner and communication is more important than most medical professionals realize!

systemsaddict hugs! Hope things get easier soon!

allnew sorry A is ill, I hope it's not bothering him too badly!

We put in an offer on the house I want and didn't hear back before the weekend I'm all hyper waiting and can't believe I'm actually eager for Monday to arrive...

And Fraser was up four times last night!!!! I only fed him twice but then at 5am DH got up with him (he'd been sleeping downstairs on the spare bed so had already gotten most of a night's sleep by then - unlike me). I'm hoping for a better night tonight or I'm just going to let him cry it out. I know it's teething and it's uncomfortable but I can't get up more than twice a night on a regular basis without turning into the meanest mum and that's not fair to Duncan....

Amberc · 22/11/2008 17:32

How funny is this on the weaning board...Completely by the by - I'd been telling DP for a while about wanting to try Baby Led Weaning with DS. Thought he was listening and understanding until he asked me whether we could buy it in Tescos. He thought I said Baby Linguine... like there is some kind of special baby pasta that you don't have to mash...

alipalli · 22/11/2008 18:08

hehehe Amber that's funny. Just read that to DH and he said that shows how much of this baby stuff men actually listen to.

Parofleurmapu · 22/11/2008 19:56

Evening

Had haircut this am and Ikea trip this pm. Haircut is lovely but hairdresser must have thought me mad when i produced a pic of katie Holmes and said i want it like this. Cause she kind of looked at me with my extra kilos, bags under my eyes and milk stained tracky bottoms and top and thought not a hope in hells chance!!!!

Ikea had the highchairs in but no trays had arrived yet to go with them!!! wont be in til mid Jan!!

Essie3 · 22/11/2008 22:46

Hello all, a v. quick post. Have a mega infection in my gum, even my face is swollen, and I'm in PAIN. Childbirth was less painful. [big crying face emoticon]

There has been an interesting (although ironic) event here which I will post when I'm feeling a bit better.

But quickly - SystemsAddict, I'm an ENT veteran here. 3 times grommets, two perforated eardrums and continual problems. I would say don't let them muck around too much with Liam's ears. Message me if you want to talk about it, but probably things have moved on a lot since I was a child and he may have different problems.

Did I mention the PAIN PAIN PAIN?

poppy34 · 22/11/2008 22:48

qucik post to mark my place -sorry you're poorly essie (have you tried booze ) - is tehre a particular thread I need to look at on weaning -personally I reckon should just get amber other half on there with his baby linguine.. makes about as much sense as some of other stuff on there

Essie3 · 22/11/2008 23:03

Oh, I so want to have booze, but alas I've been given penicillin because I'm bfing and although I'd usually play fast and loose with alcohol and medicine, this time I'm aware that the booze would stop them working, and I would happily go without alcohol for A YEAR if it would make the pain go away quicker.

Essie3 · 22/11/2008 23:03

DON'T HOLD ME TO THAT!! (ouch it hurts to grin)

alipalli · 22/11/2008 23:49

poor you essie sounds horrid. We will hold you to your pledge though as it is now published on t'internet for all to see.

Systems that is quite a first week back. Hope your LOs are better very soon.

Neenz, hope you dinner was fun. It reminded me of the scene in Bridget Jones where she is trying impress publishing types by talking about the state of Chechnyaaaah. I am sure you will have have made a much better impression though (you didn't mention baby poo did you).
