Hi all

Just found the link below, about wakeful 4 month olds and it rang a few bells...!

wakeful 4 month olds

We've got the highchair out because Florence was getting very irate at being left by herself while we all ate - now she joins us at the table and plays with her feet and shouts. (It's a padded chair that straps on to a dining chair, and it reclines).

She is exhausting at the mo - but so so gorgeous! DD1 tells me she is 'mummy's special job' (she means helper!) and is being gorgeous generally too. Have been putting some of Florence's stuff in dd1's room as they'll be sharing at some point, and it looks really cute - two little girlies' things in there!

Minkus · 18/11/2008 23:39

pjr that link was great, really interesting reading! Got lost in the maze of looking at other stuff on the site too, will go back and read again I think.

Smudge dh and I can argue without even speaking to each other I think - hope yours is back soon from the garage with some chocolate!

Beginning to think Louis' first and so far only successful attempt at rolling over was a fluke- he's not repeated it since! But he's working hard on learning other skills, like sleeping (not at night mind you the little bugger)- he's learning how to go for more than 45 mins asleep during the day. No idea what's changed but in the last 10 days he's got a lot less, er, tricky I think is how I'd describe it. Just a bit more chilled and easier to predict. Hooray!

Am feeling a bit as I'm off to see a very dear friend tomorrow and her lovely new son (her first baby)- he's 6 days old. Am sad because I will be taking her most of the clothes etc that Louis has grown out of, bar a few special "memory" bits and pieces- ds1 wore them too and so it's like bits of my family history. DH is really very against having any more and I thought I was too- but still can't get it out of my head that one day there mght be a third sprog in the minkus household. When pg with L I was adamant that there would be no more as the thought of having hyperemesis for a third pregnancy was horrific. But now... well I just can't accept I suppose that my baby bearing days are over and giving away the boys' things just makes me have to face it I guess

Off to bed, night night!

disneystar · 19/11/2008 07:17

morning all
well samuel down to one feed a night now i cant believe he still wants one then hes my only baby that hasnt gone through the night
but im so used to it now
i dont feel so good today felt a bit kind of fluey yesterday and im hot and fluched this morning
samuel is just so noisy here he talks and chats all day he shouts when i leave the room hes so funny
his fav game is copying you i make a sound and he copies its quite amazing how he does it
he also has a teddy called jingle and hugs it also chews it to bits
all the boys are at a new school now so i have a 10 min walk rather than a half hour car ride its very nice for us
alan whos 8 and usually in a wheelchair tries to walk it but is very tired after 10 mins but good for his exercise
off to do breakfast now as im on my bed on laptop with dc chatting in my ears and samuel making lots of new sounds

JODIEhadababy · 19/11/2008 07:26

PJR - That is actually quite interesting, Sam is bottle fed but he suffers the same, (granted not as much as a BF baby would be) he rolls his head all over the place, trying to look at whatever is going on, resulting in him leaving about 2-3oz of every bottle!

Minkus - Glad things are getting batter at long last! Long may it continue!

SK - My buggy snuggle came and I used it for he first time yesterday, looked so comfy I wanted to jumo in along side him! Thanks for the tip!

disney Have a beechams this morning and you'll be as right as rain! (although don't quote me on that! ) Hope you feel better soon!

The Jumperoo seems lovely, but so roomy! I have a tigger door bouncer which Sam has just gone into and loves! Oliver loved it too and he'd spend many a happy moment trying to hit the ceiling!

Can hear Sam gurgling upstairs so I;d better sign off.

Have a good morning
x

cass sorry to hear you're having trouble with your DD I have no experience on the matter but I'm sure she'll get better soon, maybe she's just testing her new bounderies? How did you get on at the school, did you say anything?

Libra1975 · 19/11/2008 07:56

hello, just need to get this back on my threads page! Agree about hairloss, expect Alex to start coughing up furballs any day!

JODIEhadababy · 19/11/2008 07:58

hey libra - how bizarre, I've just searched your name as I thought we hadn't seen you for a while! How are things?

Also, Libralady.. I know your back at work, but hope things are Ok.

EEC · 19/11/2008 09:49

Hi there hubarb. Glad things going well.

Smudge - poor you - hope you enjoyed a well deserved wine and that DH has come grovelling back! Hooray for no ironing! I never do any

EEC · 19/11/2008 09:57

pjr - interesting article. R is now actually bottle fed not bf, but is still eating less during the day - I'm sure it's because he is so easily distracted and once the initial hunger has gone he can't be bothered any more - he is waking every 4 hours at night to feed, and drinking loads!

Minkus - we gave away all our baby things as we were definitely not having another - but here we are again You can always borrow them back if you change your mind, or borrow from someone else!

bebejones · 19/11/2008 13:02

My baby smells like a lump of coal.....the shampoo STINKS! But seems to have worked, will have to keep it up of course, but the first go of it has made a massive improvement...P still scratching at her head though...am hoping that will go with a few more treatments. Then maybe I can get away with using it once a week as it really pongs!

HV came this am, said she would give me list of baby groups, then didn't!! P is 14 1/2 weeks and 12lbs 7oz so still right on her centile line! Really chuffed coz it was such a struggle initially and when she kept losing weight it was so upsetting, but now she is my little porker!!!

Had a snickers this morning...first one in over a year, really craved peanuts during PG, and thought I would treat myself now P is completely on formula! It was SO good! Now have to do extra housework to burn it off!!

smudge123 · 19/11/2008 14:00

i have just managed to upload pics to my profile... took ages to find the things on pc (ahh technology!!!!)

Have decided today is a new day and i am going to be all bright and shiny!!! Even if Jack keeps screaming cos he's teething, i swear he is hooked on bongela!

Poledra · 19/11/2008 16:23

What a lovely boy, Smudge

sweetkitty · 19/11/2008 16:36

smudge - aww Jack is lovely

bebejones - yes I don't know why all those treatment shampoos seem to be so heavily perfumed and stink, hope it works for her

EEC - B is like that too she will stop sucking to look around and gets too easy distracted I think thats why she wakes a lot in the night too

Libra1975 - nice to see you again

Jodie - glad you got your buggysnuggle too, if I seem to remember you have a P&T too (brain fuzzed cannot remember who has them now)? They are fab they seem really big though but look like they would fit a big strapping toddler. Very cosy looking too

disneystar - you seem a bit more positive this morning Sam seems like he is doing well

Minkus - I so know what you mean I cannot bear ot part with any baby stuff yet, I said never again but I don't know, I think I am going mad!

purplejenny - I'm sure B would like to join us at the table now as well, she looks so left out now won't be long though

Up 3 times last night 11ish, 4ish and 6ish but the other two at least were silent all night.

Funny story an old lady looked at B in the trolley today and said "oh are you going to have a banana?" I was in Asda I said no she is too little won't be long thought. She said aww she's lovely whats her name, Bethany says me, Stephanie thats a lovely name isn't it Stephanie I let it go I'm sure one of the other DDs would have corrected her. The old dears love looking at babies don't they?

Right off for a drink of water, BF Bethany (I have the dying of thirst thing going on), make dinner, eat dinner, then baths, then it will be 7pm and DP will be in!

Hi all,

Well this 4mth developmental phase has alot to answer for!!
Last night it was 11pm, 1.20, 2.45, 5.30. 6.45 then 8.30. Phew! Im soooo tired. Wasnt all for feeds just really unsettled!- Nightmare.

Smudge- Lovely pictures

Bebe- Glad the shampoo does seem to be working even if it does stink! hehe

Jodie- Abigail is another one who fusses with her bottles now. Sometimes is a struggle to get her to take just 2ozs!

Please let this fussy feeding/no sleeping phase end soon!

pigleychez · 19/11/2008 16:39

x posted with SK.

Bless the old lady, They do like to coo don't they

sweetkitty · 19/11/2008 17:12

purplejenny - just read your link wow it described B to a T I offer her a boob every 2 hours during the day and often she's too distracted. Kellymom is a fantastic site laods of great info on there.

I'm on my third baby and I don't expect her to sleep through the night, I know she is needing night feeds still, it's easy to pop her on the boob and we both go back to sleep. I know come 10 months or so we will look at her sleep again and if she is still waking loads then we will start to fix it.

In their lifetime it's such a short time and it flies it, my ethos is better to just go with and and get the most sleep you can, for me thats cosleeping.

Better go she's trying to crawl along the carpet (off babygym) and is getting frustrated, oh where are these laid back babies people talk about?

sk poor you having to do bath beds and dinner on your own - you must be supermum!

I am exhausted

too tired to function - ds4 was at nursery today phew but at 2 they rang to say he was unwell

cue me hanging round the doctors surgery all afternoon trying to get him seen - turns out he has an ear infection poor lamb

we have also had NITS eeeeeeek

only ds aged 5 had evidence and even then i could not see one just cases ( vom) so the whole family had to be treated...

sweetkitty · 19/11/2008 18:21

Otter - DP will do beds thankfully I'm usually in a heap by then

Nits - I wouldn't know where to start well yes I would on MN asking about them as per. Hope you blitz the little blighters.

isaidno · 19/11/2008 19:57

I just couldn't get the wine box open fast enough this evening (Donutmum )
Poppy's been an angel, but it's bloody hard work filling the baby bath 3 times with the kettle and lugging it to the front room where our only fire is. DH working late again. Boiler being fixed tomorrow - hopefully. I am going to have a bath, then a shower, then another bath. I absolutely hate stripwashing - esp at 7am in an unheated bathroom in November

Anyway, enough about me moaning!
Bebejones - use the shampoo every day for a couple of weeks; you get used to the smell!
smudge - jack is lovely
hubarb - hello, nice to hear from you x
pigley - hope you have a better night tonight
Otter - eww - you make me feel itchy!! We haven't had nits ... yet; keeping the ds hair short!
SK - I'm still feeding about 2 hrly; you are so right about going with the flow. I haven't got time to do much else! Don't want to elicit too much but Poppy is pretty chilled most of the time.

And finally, on the subject of more babies, DH is booked in for the snip on Friday, so I've got 2 nights to get pregnant for a 4th and final time ..... no chance; too cold here for nudity!!

disneystar · 19/11/2008 19:59

smudge ,jack is lovely a real cutie

i do bath and bedtimes for 4 everynight its easy....(i say laughingly taking a stress pill)
no really just routine isnt it sk
sk im a bit like you with bedtimes i go with whatever sam wants to he feeds evenings and i dont have a structure in the night if he wakes he feeds and co sleeps if im lucky enough to have my dh home he sleeps longways at the foot of the bed doing a switch over in the middle of the night
mcchesers cant remember if i asked as i have lost a post i did
how did his porridge go hun?

sweetkitty · 19/11/2008 20:27

isaidno - at your wine, if my boiler was broken the DDs wouldn't get a bath until it was mended. DD2 has eczema which is made worse by baths so she only has 2-3 a week which means the other two only have 2-3 a week unless they are grubby or it's Summer and they have suncream on. I am just finishing my cuppa then taking the non sleeping child upstairs for boob and bed. I don't think I would ever get DP to have the snip he's too scared.

OP posts:
mcchesers · 19/11/2008 20:31

Disney - baby porridge didn't go down so badly, but he just seemed confused. I think DH made it too runny. I'm going to try tomorrow after I've had my cereal and pumped a little BM and see what he thinks. He's so changeable anymore. Happy/Sad/Angry/Giggles all in the same breath. Like right now we put him down..DH tripped over something in the hall and he woke up royally PO'd gonna pop him on the boob and see if that works. We may go back to him night waking and co sleeping again.

isaidno- Hugs to you babe. You have my sympathy, that sounds like total nightmare!! We pay extra for no heat/no water = free hotel on our insurance.

smudge - jack is a honey! aww
hubarb - glad the hubs are doing alright
pigley - hugs to you..it's been rough over here too.
Otter - Nits are horrid. Had them myself in pre-school and it took ages to get rid of them and I had verrry long hair.

I'm not sure how often I am feeding, just whenever he makes that hungry cry like you lot going with the flow. Aidan is great during the day. Rolling over, giggle fits, heaps of fun..but what a bug at night. He just hates sleeping! That article from Kellymom makes a lot of sense and maybe I should just be taking him to the bedroom for feeds now. I look like a crack fiend. Up all hours of the night..shakey..ugh.

More wee people? Umm yes if I can get out of this flat and into a more suitable one then yes..but not until I get home with my family.

NAOTTER - ooohhhwww Don't know how I'll cope with nits - heebie jeebies! Tisserand sell this shampoo that melts the legs off of the wee blighters

HUBARB - wave emoticon say Hi to your wifie from us and can we see some pics of Skylar please?

SMUDGE - awww he is a handsome boy Maybe daddy had a bad day at the office? hugs. we bicker all the time

Well we finally have blinds being installed next Tuesday 1/3 of the price of the first quote Dd was at nursery today so I finally got around to painting part of the sitting room - above the mantel. I bought blackboard paint and painted a big fat cat in the playroom too I was trying to decide on atheme for Calvin's room as he will be moving into it at Xmas - when Dh moves out. I was thinking space but have decided to go with underwater - sea, ships, fish etc.

His rocking horse arived today - it's lovely. I need to order him his first pair of Converse for his Xmas too - we did that with DD too then that's all the Xmas shopping done.

TJUICE - yummy I love marzipan.

Nite all
xxxx

Rumpel · 19/11/2008 20:37

mean't to say MINKUS - I am exactly the same as you. I have just sold most of the unisex baby stuff, all my maternity clothes and other stuff on ebay but a little bit of me thinks - I'd still like another - even though i feel hellish when pg detest the whole thing and am just starting to feel human again now WTF? Hormones eh?

JODIEhadababy · 19/11/2008 20:48

Oh fuck fuck fuckity fuck, sorry for swearing, but just done massive post and lost it all.... aaaaagggghhhhhh

Hope you are all well..... Going on bath now so maybe will have energy to post later!

isaidno · 19/11/2008 21:42

SK - DS1 has terrible ezcema but we bath every day because he scratches so much his skin gets infected otherwise. We are having a breakthrough though - he is wearing gloves to bed. They are cotton ones, child size small, specially ordered from Boots. Your dd2 is prob too young (or too stubborn!) to understand thay have to be kept on. Anyway, they've really helped us - his skin is actually getting chance to heal.
