Foxy Why don't you tell them you'll be using bf as your contraception. that will get their knickers in a twist, or like my friend tell them you're trying for another.

And what does 'obstreperous' mean?

BTW: Am still bleeding at 8 weeks. Anyone else, or any ideas?

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 06/11/2008 09:29

at my check up, contraception was probably the only thing that wasn't mentioned! glad I went because of the problems I have, and was also glad cos GP talked about PND, kind of "don't worry if this gets you down, plenty of help here" type thing, as I had been feeling pretty low but too proud to say it. Happy we didn;t go into contraception though, don't want pill again, or anything that has to go inside me cos I'm too paranoid. We've managed to get pregnant twice in 10 years, and just when we decided to, so lucky and careful. And atm we're both too tired to even think about it, and in any case it took me 6 months last time to be confident enough, and probably longer this time, at least not until I get fixed

ninja · 06/11/2008 09:32

foxy I wouldn't bother - I just went in said I'm finwe and can youlook at dd1 who's ill! If you've had one before you know yourself if you're well

Sassyfrassy · 06/11/2008 09:53

I'm absolutely useless at remembering to take pills, and because of migraines I can only take the sort that you have to take exactly the same time everyday. Thankfully I've had the implant fitted so I don't have to think of it. We're really not planning on having more children now.

Debs75 · 06/11/2008 10:25

At what age did you, or are you moving lo's into a cot. Robyn is in a moses basket and we use a o-3 mnth grobag. When i put her in the 0-6mnth it will take up the whole basket. Also i think a cot mattress woulb be better for her as it is thicker and more supportive then the moses basket. She is 7 weeks tomorrow. 7 weeks ago it was hot and sunny, and i was waddling.

hopefully · 06/11/2008 10:46

T has been in the small version of his stokke cot since birth, except for a brief interlude in a moses basket. He's actually already getting long for the cot, we'll prob have to go up a size before he's 6 months, which is annoying as it's so easy to wheel the cot from his room to ours, and it won't fit through the door when it's bigger.

Now someone, please be impressed with my sleeping baby last night! i am v pleased.

potxola · 06/11/2008 11:01

Hi.
Girls I have some news: I AM PREGNANT AGAIN

potxola · 06/11/2008 11:04

ONLY JOKING
NO WAY JOSE. My C-section scar is still red and unconfortable.
Sorry I could not help it. I think Eandz will be the first one in getting pregnant CONGRATULATIONS on the American election. It is all very exciting!!!!!

Ponymum · 06/11/2008 11:20

potxola !!!!!! You nearly gave me a heart attack!

hopefully yes, we are very impressed with your sleeping baby, just ! But saying that, DD also had a good sleep but only after a shaky start and LOTS of soothing shh and putting the dummy back in until about 3am. Then she was fast asleep when DH's alarm went off at 7 am! I gave her a feed at 7:15 and she was still pretty sleepy, but gave me lovely happy smiles. How can it be so wonderful sometimes, and so terrible other times?

lollipopmother · 06/11/2008 11:31

Hopefully - Any luck with the dummies?

hopefully · 06/11/2008 11:37

Lollipop will email you a full lowdown, but we are having joy! We started out by sticking a little finger inside the hollow bit (slightly like a small finger condom, isn't it?) and now we've started putting it in with no finger. It seems to satisfy his sucking need before bed, but he doesn't need to fall asleep with it, which is pretty good.

Potxola I really thought you were being truthful then!

Pants, I've just got T nice and relaxed for his nap and he's done an almighty poo, and will totally wake up when i change his nappy. Curses.

ninja · 06/11/2008 12:09

I know a mum who was pregnant with her FOURTH when her 3rd was 6 weeks old - .... and they were living in a caravan. MAD!

Hopefully jealous - yes, but you have worked at it. I just plug M in so I xan get back to sleep. I did shh and rock her moses basket once - and woke up 2 hours later

re cots - M would be in one but my friend who says she'll give me hers (along with wardrobe and changing chest of drawers) hasn't mentioned it.Her DD2 was still in the cot over the summer, so I don't want to mention it unless she's not out yet. I have a feeling they kept their DD's in the moses basket for months. I don't know whether I should hint or not. What do you think?

imoscarsmum · 06/11/2008 12:49

hopefully well done to T! C slept really well last night - frm 7.30pm to 10.30pm and 11pm till 6am. baby sensory worked!! first evening dp and i have had together - he fell asleep in front if tv, the bastard.... why can he do that but not me??

contraception hmmm..i hav no idea, we're using condoms but too costly. can't take combined pill so don't think i can get implant etc. bugger, will actually have to talk to doc.

blasted postie woke c up just now so typing one handed. our morning plans gone out the window.

but yay! 1.5% interest rate drop - we'll save £250 per month!!! good xmas methinks

barnpot · 06/11/2008 13:22

ok to clear up about the rolling, he can roll onto his sude but shoulder gets in way so cant roll onto front.
1.5%interest rate sdrop yay, blasted fixed rate mortgage

Star1ightExpress · 06/11/2008 13:31

ninja can you ask her a question about it: i.e can she remind you of the dimensions coz you're thinking of rearranging your bedroom or something similar.

My GP is pushing the merina coil. Don't think it's for me though so might go for copper. Anyone know anything about it?

hopefully · 06/11/2008 13:58

starlight my gp suggested copper coil, as anything hormone related makes me fat and miserable for some reason. however, i know nothing about it!

man, i hope last night wasn't a one off. suspect it may have been, but at least now i know he can do it i'll be less inclined to top up with formula, as we can aim for it to happen with just top ups.

foxytocin · 06/11/2008 13:58

I have a nice GP who I didn't know well back when dd1 was little. Will see him for the 6 wk check and he knows that I am an extended bfer and he is very forward thinking in his childcare views. He listens to me wrt bfing so he would take that in stride, starlight everyone sainsbo's has all toys at half price till next wed.

bought dd1 2 fairy dresses. one for now, one for christmas. her nursery is doing dress up for children in need day. pity she doesn't go on a friday.

barnpot · 06/11/2008 14:23

ok i'm going to be daring and try elli in his moses basket, wish me luck, will report back soon

notcitrus · 06/11/2008 14:39

The only use of my 6-week check was that it got me a bag of free condoms and a scrip for the mini-pill without having to go to the family planning clinic. It's one you have 12 hours to remember, not like the old ones which you had to be bang on time with.

A's new trick, instead of long grouchy evenings, is to go out like a light at 7.30. I woke him for a feed at midnight before I went to bed - he knocked back 7oz but still woke at 2,4,6 and 8.30.

Yay lower interest rates - but Abbey haven't written to us about the last drop despite us having a tracker...

DebitheScot · 06/11/2008 14:51

foxy my friend told me the other day that she hasn't been for her 6 weeks check yet. Her son is 3 and a half years old!

Taking ds2 to the docs later as he is still coughing a lot and is very chesty and snottery. He rattles when he breathes and has big coughing fits after every feed. He doesn't look very well and his eyes are really red. It's sad, poor baby. He's also not that interested in his milk and is only feeding for about 10mins rather than the usual 20. And I know he's not just feeding faster coz when he's done my boobs are still really full. So I dug the expresser out earlier and expressed about 3oz. I'm not overly worried about him not eating much just now as I can understand he'll lose his appetite a bit with a cold but was a bit concerned that my body will think it doesn't need to make so much just as he gets his appetite back and then he'll have to work hard and feed lots to get as much as he needs. So now hopefully my body won't decide to make less if I express some and there will be some saved for him.

Did someone say it can stay in the fridge for a week? And presumably if I freeze it I should freeze it straight away?

Star1ightExpress · 06/11/2008 14:55

NC I had lots of problems with the pill for those reasons (even when on the 12 hour one). I tried to take one every morning when I got up, but my life has always been such that sometimes it was 6am, sometimes 1pm.

So I tried taking them before I went to bed, but became confused about the effects of moving from morning to evening, and this was complicated further by having no set bedtime.

Then, I was living in a houseshare, but would spend some nights at my mums and some nights at my boyfriends so had a pack at each address which made it impossible to stick to the 'days' written on the packets.

I have never in my life owned a handbag because I loose umbrellas, hats etc. and handbags annoy me anyway as I hate carrying things!

Maybe I have ishoos!

Anyway, to top it all, the pill removed my sex drive!

DebitheScot · 06/11/2008 15:00

imoscarsmum thanks for telling us about interest rate, thats amazing. Will save us about £90 I think. And dh has a meeting today about a promotion so I might start thinking about christmas presents for me

ninja · 06/11/2008 15:07

Debithescot you can leave in the fridge 24 hours before freezing if you want. Yes it can stay in the fridge 8 days if the fridge is 4 degrees or below (it's at its best for 3 days)

carrieon · 06/11/2008 15:22

foxy anyone who can use the word obstreperous twice in normal conversation does not need a 6 week check!
Ds had his this morning, no problems. Then got very with the ladies at toddlers who rocked and cuddled ds to sleep when I explicitly said I wanted him to have some awake time, so he effectively slept from 8am to 1:30pm. They're not the ones there in the middle of the night.
hopefully I'm seriously impressed with the sleeping. Am considering moving ds into his room once his cot arrives as I wonder if we're disturbing him/going to him too quickly in the night.

foxytocin · 06/11/2008 15:39

soled with the help of you lot. no 6 wk check for me.

will do dd2's though as i like this gp. we always have a little whitter when i see him.
