Hope no one minds me starting a new thread?

starlight - I had no probs with the combined pill for years, so should be fine.

About to have shower, express more milk and go out for the evening. But I'm going to miss my little baby! Not so little now, either.

Ponymum · 06/11/2008 16:41

notcitrus what is the name of your mini-pill? 12 hours sounds great. The GP gave me one that she said I have to take it within 3 hours. (Sorry I can't get the name of it as DD is feeding on me atm and I can't get up! ) I have only used the combined pill before and I am a bit worried about so little room for error.

DD totally enjoyed her tummy time this afternoon. SO CUTE! I'll try to put some photos up on my profile soon.

barnpot · 06/11/2008 16:43

well moses basket didn't work he cottoned on straight away and woke up, so we had a few hour together on the bed.
on another note, when your little ones have finished feeding do they try to pull your nipple off, will be tucking them into my socks soon

digitalgirl · 06/11/2008 18:28

haha barnpot yes mine does that all the time! My BFC likened it to them sucking hard through a straw to slurp the last remnants of milkshake out of the bottom of the cup .

Alfredo is saying the cutest little 'ehs, ahs, ohs' at the moment! This after an afternoon of constant feeding.

After moaning about him not going to sleep at night and thinking he would never sleep unless he was in the same room as us, he fell asleep at 9:30pm and DH put him upstairs in the cot while we stayed watching TV till 11:30. Wow! Am under no illusion that he will repeat this tonight though.

Star1ightExpress · 06/11/2008 19:16

barnpot oh no don't remind me. It gets a lot worse when they get older and more nosey. They want to look around the room without letting go of the nipple - ouch!

Baby Starlight has an annoying habbit of gumming down on the nipple when doing a poo!

becaroo · 06/11/2008 19:53

Well, 6 week check yesterday....got a granuloma (sp?) on my perineum which may need hospital treatment and cauterization - ouch!! Quite pissed off about this actually as 3 different people checked me and said it was fine (I knew it wasnt as am still in pain!)

Got to stay on iron meds for another 6 weeks and have been given movicol to make me poo (sorry about the TMI!)

She did ask about contraception but we will be using condoms when I let dh near me again (sometime around 2012 ) and he has offered to have the snip at some point as I cant take the pill and dont fancy a coil (and after this pregnancy and birth I am not putting my poor knackered old body through being sterilized!!!)

My mum came round and did some cleaning for me today (which I really appreciated) and said "Rebecca, when exactly was the last time you cleaned your loo!?" Erm....at least 2 weeks...feel like a complete slattern! Am keeping on top of the washing and ironing, general tidying every day and doing the dishes and Tobys bottles every evening - I know its not much but its about all I can manage for now. Is it just me? Feel like I should be doing more after her comment...I also have the school run twice a day which eats into my time......I could stop spending so much time on MN of course!!!!!

Love to all x

hopefully · 06/11/2008 20:04

becaroo you're doing a lot more than me! I have no school run, and if the washing up gets done before DP gets home I consider myself to be a complete over-achiever.

DG just clicked on your profile - Alfredo is darn cute! Did you say he has a very mixed heritage? He looks like he's going to be one of those exotic looking beautiful boys when he's a bit older. (My main hope for T's future beauty at the moment consists of hoping his hair grows back after his post-birth balding!)

T is asleep in the evening for the second night in a row - I am daring to hope that he is slowly growing out of the colic. He was definitely suffering earlier, but nothing like the screaming and agony we had a week or two ago. I'm crossing my fingers (but not getting my hopes up) that he'll be able to sleep till 7 after another top up this evening. Even if he only makes it to 5, I'll feel we're moving in the right direction from the regular 4:30 waking.

Ponymum · 06/11/2008 20:16

New photos up on my profile page now.

barnpot something dawned on me today when I read your post. I have NEVER put DD down in her basket awake and had her fall asleep, day or night. I have only ever got her to fall asleep on me, and then she's either slept on me or been transferred to the basket once asleep (usually unsuccessfully ).

How hopeless am I? And why has it taken me 8 weeks to realise this?

That's it, I am going to buy one of those books. A nice, kind one if they exist. Any suggestions?

MelT76 · 06/11/2008 20:27

HV came yesterday, Callum has put on 19oz in 2 weeks and has grown 6cm since birth (6weeks yesterday) He is already wearing 3-6mth sleepsuits as he is too long for the little ones now!

Just added a few pics to my profile.

Star1ightExpress · 06/11/2008 20:28

Ponymum Neither do I, but I don't worry about it. If it hasn't bothered you until now, why stress?

Debs75 · 06/11/2008 20:29

Robyn is just not settling in an evening. From teatime till bedtime we feed for a few mins then she falls asleep but as soon as I put her down she wakes up. During the day we have 2-3 hours between feeds but after tea that just goes out the window. She is really upset if we put her down and bawls. Could it be colic related, other 2 never had it so not sure what i am looking for. Funnily after her early morning 5am feed she pops back to sleep like an angel.

This % decrease is it really going to make any difference to us, we rent and don't have credit, wellnot proper credit as i told them to stuff it and am paying my 10,000 loan off at 20 a month

hopefully · 06/11/2008 20:53

Poor you Debs, we had that for what felt like forever! The things that helped us were trying to keep T awake to take a longer feed, and then making him wait at least a little while until the next feed - I found that the more often I fed him the worse the colic got. Even if we only helped him go an extra minute between feeds each night, it was steps in the right direction. The other thing that helped was just getting him to sleep between feeds by any means necessary, including rocking, the baby bjorn, the pram. The only thing I didn't do was feed to sleep, as I figured he'd then wake in a few minutes and want feeding, defeating the object of the thing. At least if he slept for some time, it lengthened the time between feeds.
However, that's only what worked for me, and I should stress I have never had supply problems etc, so didn't even think about that when trying to solve various problems with T!

Interest rate decrease also not affecting us - renters with minimal debt and minimal savings!

Ponymum your DD is also gorgeous, loving the tummy time and post-bath pics.

imoscarsmum · 06/11/2008 22:31

ponymum your pics are lovely. Wish Charlotte was as calm when she is put down on her gym! Your DD looks very like my DD (or do all babies look alike).

Feeling sad as Charlotte is probably in the last few days of wearing her newborn outfits. At 7 weeks sh's not yet 10lb, but has grown in length so her legs are gonna be too big for the sleepsuits....

becaroo you should be proud of yourself - you are doing LOADS! I only have 1 child but cannot imagine how I get more than 20 mins to do anything in the day/evening. Charlotte may sleep through the night but I cannot put her down for more than about 20 mins during the day without her crying. Or i she does sleep during the day, she is then up all evening like tonight, having to be held and totally wide awake. Will someone please tell me that at some point before I go back to work in April, she will sit and play with me/toys without crying - I can't imagine it!!

I'm just glad it's lmost 11. We'll give her a feed and the internal switch will go off and she'll sleep - thank god.

notcitrus · 06/11/2008 23:30

ponymum - it's Cerazette - seems to be the default pill for postnatal women!

Had nice evening out but am wiped now so must go to bed. A has guzzled loads and is asleep so let's hope he stays that way for a few hours...

lollipopmother · 07/11/2008 00:06

I've had a really enjoyable day today, I met up with three girls from my previous job as we've all had babies at the same time. After that I came home and Elizabeth was wide awake and playing for an hour and a half, before having a nice long bath with me and a bit more of a play, it's the longest she's been awake without crying by a long way!

I'm now going to spoil a brilliant day by picking up my DP from the park and ride, as he's been on the lash with work mates so is going to be very late home. Normally he gets a taxi, but they keep trying to charge him over ten quid to get back and it's an absolute outrage! I've put Elizabeth in her car seat in an attempt to get her to sleep before we have to go, but it's already an hour and a half past her bedtime and she's not asleep, no tears as yet but she must be so over tired, I am going to have an awful day tomorrow I expect, and all to save a couple of quid ....

hopefully · 07/11/2008 08:15

Bah, 4:30am waking again.

For some reason, I seem to get a blocked duct whenever I express for a couple of days. I can do the odd expressing session, but every time I try to introduce a regular expressing time, I get a blocked duct within a couple of days. Luckily have caught it early and think I've mostly massaged/hand expressed/fed it into submission, but it's bloody annoying! It adds another hassle to expressing to top up the last feed. I might stop if topping up doesn't have any effect again tonight.

plusonemore · 07/11/2008 08:18

bad night last night. bed at 11.30, up at 2, 3, 5, 6.30. I knew all that sleeping in the day yesterday would be no good. the thing is, i need him to sleep today so i can catch up! oh dear...
the worst thing is, it was the first night in a grobag and i was sooo excited cos i was certain it was going to help him sleep better!

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 07/11/2008 09:30

Ah, thought we'd got to through-all-night stage, as Maia went from 12am to 6.40am the other night.... but last night she went from 12.30am to 5am, but really probably from 1-1.30am cos she was again in giggly chatty mood. guess we were spoilt with her brother doing 11pm-7am from week 3...

she's lovely though during the day when she's awake, she's so smiley and chatty, and yesterday she even pushed her head and shoulders up by herself, if i give her my fingers then she pulls herself up looking so proud of herself... can't believe that only 9wks ago she was still inside me... she's growing so fast ...

Star1ightExpress · 07/11/2008 10:52

plusonemore snap

I'm a wreck today.

lollipop I bet your lo slept brilliantly last night !? Given all of that stimulation in the day?

plusonemore · 07/11/2008 10:57

oh starlight its rubbish isnt it, and to top it off ds2 is wanting to feed about every 40mins to an hour today. is there a 4 and 3/4 week growth spurt??!! ds1 decided he would wear pants today instead of nappy for the first time but had 2 accidents in 5 mins and got a bit upset about it so we now have pants on over a nappy, cant cope with that as well! have decided biscuits, tea, mnet and cbeebies is the way forward for today

DebitheScot · 07/11/2008 10:58

well after the doc said ds2 was ok yest -his head is totally stuffed up but it's not in his chest- he threw up everywhere this morning. It wasn't just spat back up milk either, was proper spew. Poor baby This was at about 8am after I'd woken him to feed him. He didn't have much of a feed so I was a bit concerned about the amount that came out. Dh took him while I had a shower- I was covered in sick- and he had fallen asleep by the time I was done so I just left him. He woke just before 10 and seemed hungry so I fed him and so far its stayed down. He's getting tired again already though. Presumably I don't need to worry about him sleeping too much.
I hope he gets better soon, we're meant to be going to Legoland tomorrow

foxytocin · 07/11/2008 11:28

i just got back from hosp where dd1 had an appt with an consultant orthopaedist(?) you know, bone doctor, about a previously broken leg. he saw me shortly after putting 6 wk old dd2 in the wrap sling and said 'that is the best way to carry little ones.'

plusonemore · 07/11/2008 11:37

so why is it some people can express really well and others cant? is there anything you can do to improve it? my best is 3oz in 5 mins from 1 breast although the norm is 2 oz from both in 10 mins. saw a friend yesterday with a 12day old she says she has bout 50oz in freezer already and mostly from leaking into shells whilst feeding

Ponymum · 07/11/2008 11:38

nc mine is micronor. I have looked it up and it's definitely only 3 hours before it's regarded as a missed pill, cf 12 hours for cerazette. How annoying.

DD slept for 9 HOURS last night! ((don't hate me!))

lollipopmother · 07/11/2008 11:48

Starlight - Yep she did! As soon as I posted last night she fell asleep in the car seat and didn't wake up when I got her in/out of car or in fact until 7.30am bless her! She was so beautiful yesterday that I hope I haven't put her out by having such a late night but so far so good, hopefully the fact that we haven't been enforcing a strict routine will mean that she is quite robust with the odd late night.
