going great thanks myjobismum looks liek there could be a number 3 in the future! how is Naomi? Maia is gaining very well and is going to be bigger than Hayden for her age as he was smallerthan average. if not being rocked or held she screams constantly which is draining when you have a 20 month old destroying the house!

star6 · 14/11/2008 21:56

hi bethoo yes still bf but still very sore cracked nipples. seeing bfc but continues... thrush treatment at moment so hopefully that will help!
glad to hear you've dropped ex dp and that new man is good!! at 3rd! cant wrap my head around even making a 2nd

4andnotout · 14/11/2008 21:58

Im another superleaker! I bought lilipadz before dd4 was born but quite frankly they are crap! I think they will be better when my let down isn't quite so fierce and im not leaking in between feeds so much (well im hoping!!) I cant use reusable pads yet either as im sopping wet after a few minutes
Im just back from an evening at bingo, i had to take dd4 with me as i havent introduced a bottle yet, she was 3 weeks yesterday so i think i'll give it another few weeks before trying to express and bottle feed occasionally, can you tell im paranoid about the bfing all going' wrong! Anyway she was very good and i managed to feed her without flashing my tits,i even managed to feed her during dd1's school assembly today.

3, are you nuts woman? I have 3 but I have a gap of at least 4 years between each one. Even that is hard work!!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/11/2008 08:13

Aaaaaarrrrrggghhhh. Horrendous night here. Have had 2 hours sleep, and ds has only had a few mins more than that. Bit of a shock after a lovely calm day. Really not sure what the problem was/is, but neither gripe water nor gaviscon were helping. Gave him some calpol an hour ago and he's now sleeping swaddled in my arms. Have since realised that calpol isn't supposed to be used before 2 months . What on earth you're supposed to use before that I don't know!

Hello bethoo. Glad to hear that things are still going well with new man.

heather1980 · 15/11/2008 09:34

calpol is 3 months EXCEPT when they have their jabs when it can be used at 2 months and only 2 doses should be given. but i wouldn't worry if you have only given a small dose.
we had a bad night as well, lots of wind from us, poor babies.

yuck CSWS I hope you feel better soon and get some more sleep. Do you sleep when he's sleeping on you? Are you willing to let your dh give him a bottle of expressed milk? We do that a couple times a week so i can get a solid 4-5 hours of sleep. DH just stays up with him and gives the feed.

Question - thrush cream and meds are working really well. Not stinging SO much anymore, but still discomfort. The right nipple is severely cracked/damaged. The left is ok-ish... Not sure what to do... is him sucking on it going to make the really cracked one worse - should I not feed on that side for a while? But then I thnk expressing will make it even worse? no?

loulou33 · 15/11/2008 13:19

csws - you can give calpol from birth but only one dose but *don't tell anyone i told you this) DS1 had calpol at birth due to ventouse wound on his head so doc gave him calpol. I asked hv later about this and she said one dose bwfore 2 months is fine they just don't advertise the fact as they don't want us parents dishing out like smarties!! There is a link to asthma but only if you are giving it every night, which you're not...i would suggest no harm in having one dose when you are desperate.

I have had to put Joe in his crib for sleeps today as he is now fighting sleep on me even though he is exhausted. He barely murmured this morning when i put him down he was so tired and he is asleep now after 5 mins wimpering. i feel like a total cow for making him do this but its also not fair on him that he's not sleeping and screaming all day cos he's tired. He was so much happier after his sleep and i'm hoping he'll be better this pm. i have actually got some things done which has made me feel better.

Bethoo - hope your screamer settles soon and thanks 07 for your support. i am actually really lucky that Joe sleeps at night pretty well so i shouldn't complain but i end up going to bed at the same time as him and unless i do this i will never get anything done or any time to myself.

Big Hugs to you csws - hope duncan sleeps tonight

SmudgeyDoodle · 15/11/2008 13:40

CSWS another one here where the dr said it's ok to give a half dose of calpol even from birth. Ours was because of a temp and he said it's not great to give Calpol but much better than them having a temp. Annaliesa still not well. She's breathing better but still keeps puking up snotty mucus along with most of her milk. She lost weight over the last few days because she's not been feeding well but hoping that she's now on the mend. She likes being cuddled and prefers to sleep in our bed. I've decided that whilst she's not 100% I'm not going to worry about it too much. I was never brave enough to let DS sleep in our bed so I'm hoping that DD will not get to like it too much. DH gone in to town to watch the rugby. DS in bed and when he gets up, the 3 of us are going shopping for an outing - glam eh? Got friends coming for lunch tomorrow so want to pick up a few bits. Yesterday we went to my mum and dads and saw my grandparents. Got some lovely photos of DD with Granny and Gramps (aged 90 and 96!) Hope awful nights last night mean good nights tonight...

SmudgeyDoodle · 15/11/2008 13:42

Star - when I had really sore nips last time, I expressed off the most sore side and just fed off the other. I did this for a day and it felt soooo much better. I guess it depends though on whether it's sore for you to express?

pepperrabbit · 15/11/2008 18:04

Hello all,
loulou glad Joe got some sleep - I would certainly advocate a 5 minute cry if it makes them feel so much better in the end.
CSWS - sorry you had such an awful night - (I really wouldn't worry about the Calpol too much) our night was similar but DH kindly left me in bed at 7am and I slept till 10.15!!!! Felt so much better (tho had been up since 12.30am before that...) it's the only thing that makes me glad we had to bottle feed.
bethoo ARe you mad!!!!! I have 3 under 4 1/2 and DH and I are in BITS. I know it's only been a month but the leap from 2 to 3 has been as bad as the move from 0 to 1 babies. For some reason 1 to 2 was a walk in the park compared to this.
I feel like I'm under siege, from baby demands and school demands and toddler demands all at the same time. Many parts of the day (&night) are simply miserable drudgery.
Obviously I wouldn't be without them and love them all to bits, but bloody hell, it's hard work.
but I do have a large glass of white wine and it's not even bathtime yet

Thanks ladies, esp for the reassurance re the calpol. I'm not one to use medicine unless I have exhausted other avenues first.

Star - I do sleep some when ds is on me at night, but not as well or as comfortably as when he's not! I don't sleep when he's on me in the day though, as I have to entertain dd. Last night ds just wouldn't stop screaming though, so there was no sleep for anyone. I don't do expressing because my boobs are already too much in demand with feeding 2 children.

He's been fine today, so I'm still at a loss as to what was wrong last night, unless it was somehow as a result of him throwing up his entire stomach contents during the evening, or related to his cold, which seems to be getting worse, along with mine.

Really hoping to get to bed earlier tonight, but dd is still refusing to go to bed at the moment.

We are planning trying for number 5 at the end of next year 4 really doesn't seem anymore than 3 at the moment, and i would like to have finished with pregnancies before im 30, especially as dp thinks he is getting too old now at 44

Ekka · 16/11/2008 10:16

4andnotout - 5 !!!!!! Can I be really nosey & ask how old you are? I'm 29 & dh is 41 & he reckons he's too old for 2 kids, let alone more!!!!! He's also useless without a good nights sleep so is mr grumpy at the moment. I'd love more kids (in a while ) but not sure he's too keen.... It doesn't help that his sister keeps telling us we should have at least 6 kids (though she is struggling with 2)

4andnotout · 16/11/2008 10:56

Ekka im 26, will be 27 in february.

ah, you see it all makes sense now - as an old bird of 39 (& 3/4) I'm just too old for this game! I always said I wouldn't be pregnant after 40 so we got DD in in the nick of time.

star6 · 16/11/2008 18:51

do babies drool for any reason other than teething? Please tell me yes. He just started drooling...

4andnotout Oh my god, you are crazy I am 32 and have 2 and am shattered and cant believe you are 26 with 4 and trying for more, you must be amazing!!!!
myjob at you feeling a little sad at the giving birth bit!!! I understand the pregnancy and new baby but would by pass the giving birth

Had a lovely day today, My Sis up from London and we were at my mums and they made me soup for lunch and roast dinner for tea and even took my two out so i could sleep this afty for 2 1/2 hours , that was after DD took ages to settle last night although once settled she went to sleep at 11:20 until 4:45 then through until 8 so I did sleep alright but still enjoyed my afternoon nap. Oh and they have dd1 at my mums tonight!!! I am thinking my DH was to go out for a sneaky beer though and would much prefer some quality time with him but feel I should not have to ask for it, surely he should know that without 1 child we could just have a nice eve will wait and see though!
